Episode 27: Stationary X
There's a new Fast & Furious movie out and that can only mean one thing: our hosts have returned to make a new episode about how much they loved it! (Also our episode naming convention is getting sillier-looking as they keep making these increasingly silly movies.)
You may have noticed that we're no longer calling ourselves "A Fast & Furious Quarantine Podcast" since we've decided that quarantine is far enough in the rear view mirror that we don't have to keep belaboring it. We're now calling ourselves "A Fast & Furious Trans Rights Podcast" as we think that will always stay relevant (:

Episode 26: Special Episode - CRASH-A-RAMA
In a strange and delightful culmination of our silly Fast & Furious themed show, Jamey has come full circle by becoming an actual race car driver, entering their first racing event, CRASH-A-RAMA last month. In this episode, Penelope asks all the juicy questions about what it was like being BEHIND the wheel for a change!
The story of the race would be a lot cooler with the corresponding imagery, so here are a few links of the car, the boat and the races to help you form your mental picture.

Episode 25: Vin Diesel & the Rock's "Candy Ass" Feud
This is an EMERGENCY episode that Penelope convened after Vin Diesel recently posted on Instagram, imploring the Rock to come back to the Fast franchise for the last installment. Together, Penelope and Jamey go into some of the finer points of the famous feud between Vin and the Rock, including lots of funny quotes and a little bit of armchair psychology.
Happy Thanksgiving, friends! Hope you can take a little break from your own family drama to listen in on Vin Diesel's family drama instead!
Episode 24: Spy Racers: Mexico (Episodes 1-3)
Jamey and Penelope discuss the premise of the 4th season of Spy Racers, with the crew now on the run from the agency. The major topic of conversation in this episode is DEMOLITION DERBY; Jamey regales the listener with stories about what it's like at the real demolition derby and how it compares to the demolition derby of Spy Racers in S4E3.
Episode 23: Spy Racers: Sahara (Episodes 7-8)
Penelope and Jamey talk about the end of Spy Racers season 3, from the animation to the dialogue to the relationships between characters and what they can teach kids. Jamey wins a bet from last episode. Penelope makes some predictions about what will happen in the next series when we go to: Mexico!
Episode 22: Spy Racers: Sahara (Episodes 4-6)
Penelope and Jamey continue to sing the praises of the Spy Racers cartoon in their most recent episode. Discussion topics include super-villainy, video games, and teaching kids how to talk productively about their feelings with their friends.
Episode 21: Stationary & Sassy Presents: Emily Gorcenski!
We are so thrilled to introduce a very special guest: our friend Emily Gorcenski, a genius of data science, activism and, you might not have known this, but also CARS! She came on to chat with us about cars & street racing, the culture around car movies when The Fast and The Furious came out in 2001, and to tell us about some fascinating FF-inspired German b-movies. (She even managed to find a Corona to drink in Berlin while she chatted with us, which I'm told is quite a feat!)
Episode 20: Spy Racers: Sahara (Episodes 1-3)
Penelope and Jamey get back to watching Spy Racers, because we already can't watch it as fast as they're making more seasons of it! We discuss the changes to the dynamic of the cast, what we predict for the arc of season 3, and if you've ever wanted to hear us both have an uncontrollable laughing fit on the air, then this is the episode for you!
Episode 19: S9 The Sassy Saga
The episode we've long been waiting to record... is finally here! At LONG last, we were able to see F9 and discuss it on the show. **SPOILER ALERT for F9, obviously.** Possible spoiler alert for Fast 10, if our predictions are correct. (Kidding... mostly.)
I know if you're a big F&F fan, you're excited to talk about F9, so talk about it with us!
Episode 18: Stationary and Sassy LIVE
Clarification: This is not a live episode of Stationary & Sassy, it's a regularly recorded episode of Stationary & Sassy where we cover the arena show, "Fast and Furious LIVE"
We watched it so you don't have to! Listen to Penelope and Jamey break down what's so bad about the F&F arena show - and what we would have changed to make it better!
Episode 17: Spy Racers: Rio (Episodes 7-8)
Penelope and Jamey finish watching the second season of the Spy Racers cartoon and reflect back on what the first two seasons were like! This episode includes discussion about plot devices, the growth and development of the characters, and what we'd like to see more of in the next two seasons (and the F9 crossover we'd love to see and/or write).
Episode 16: Spy Racers: Rio (Episodes 4-6)
Penelope and Jamey continue to marvel about just how good Spy Racers really is. This episode includes discussion on who the main character really is, who is underrated and underutilized, and are there any other podcasts out there also covering Spy Racers. (There are!) Absolutely every important thing in life continues to revolve around car racing for some reason.
Episode 15: Spy Racers: Rio (Episodes 1-3)
Penelope & Jamey are BACK! (You didn't forget about us, did you?) And they're starting to watch the second season of Netflix's Fast & Furious cartoon: SPY RACERS! Tony Toretto's crew is taking on a big mission in Brazil, and between the moments of action and danger, they're even enjoying some sightseeing in their new exciting location. We gush about how much we like this show, speculate about side characters who would make good cameos and learn lessons about how to not be a dick to your friends.
Episode 14: Better Luck Tomorrow
In their quest to consume every piece of Fast & Furious related media, Penelope and Jamey have turned to non-canonical offerings like Justin Lin's Better Luck Tomorrow, an indie movie from 2002 that isn't part of the FF franchise, but *is* the first cinematic appearance of Han Lue, Jamey's favorite.
This episode is mainly about what an inspiration Justin Lin is. Please come on our show, Justin Lin, we have so many questions we want to ask you!
Happy holidays to all our listeners! We love you!!
Episode 13: Stationary & Sassy Spy Racers (Episodes 7-8)
Penelope and Jamey finish the first season of Spy Racers and can finally discuss the arc of the whole season. A lot of conversation about why billionaires are bad ensues. Also a long interlude about our ideas for what should happen in Hobbs & Shaw 2 for some reason.
Episode 12: Stationary & Sassy Spy Racers (Episodes 4-6)
Penelope and Jamey continue to get deeply invested in the lives of Tony Toretto and his friends. Topics discussed include: queer rep in kid's media, eating the rich and, as always, how computers do or don't work. Please Netflix let us cameo in Fast & Furious Spy Racers. How many people are running fan podcasts for this show? Us. Let us cameo please.
Episode 11: Stationary & Sassy Spy Racers (Episodes 2&3)
Jamey & Penelope continue watching the first season of Spy Racers, which they now both agree is Very Good (and contains the most accurate depiction of hacking in the entire Fast & Furious franchise). Jamey can't shut up about how much they love cartoons, and there is much discussion of what you're allowed to put in shows for kids or not. We have decided that Ms. Nowhere is a trans woman for sure.
Episode 10: Stationary & Sassy Spy Racers (Episode 1)
Now that we have watched ALL the available Fast & Furious movies, Penelope and Jamey were going through withdrawals. Luckily, our friend Kerri Miller suggested SPY RACERS, the Netflix original Fast & Furious spinoff cartoon. There are various feelings about it among the hosts. Jamey talks a lot about how much they love kids programming. There is much discussion about how scary CGI Vin Diesel is.
Bonus Episode 2: Los Bandoleros (w/ friends!)
Penelope and Jamey are back, and this time they brought friends!
Special guests: Julien Fitzpatrick, Kerri Miller & Rein Henrichs
For the first time, we invited several of our friends onto the show to discuss our feelings about the Fast & Furious franchise, how much better it would be with supernaturals, and how we could make it gayer. We also watch the short film Los Bandoleros, the only piece of media in the franchise that is neither fast nor furious, making it... stationary and sassy.
Los Bandoleros is only a 20 minute short film, so we watch and react to it in real time. The meat of this episode will be a lot more interesting if you watch it along with us and listen to our commentary a la MST3k. We'll tell you when to press play, and here's a link to the video: https://vimeo.com/46696697
Episode 9: Stationary & Sassy Presents: Hampton & Phippen
In our latest, bittersweet installment, Jamey and Penelope talk about the most recent F&F movie that's currently available, Hobbs & Shaw. In a surprising turn of events, they take this opportunity while discussing the *least* serious F&F movie and use it to speculate in depth about the timeline of the universe and what they expect/hope to see in future movies. Executives at Universal Studios if you're reading this, hire us to write Hobbs & Shaw 2, or at least our untitled future Samantha Hobbs action movie.
Bonus Episode 1: Greater Than Code Origins
This ten minute bonus episode is the origin story of how Stationary & Sassy came to exist:
Jamey is a panelist on a tech podcast called Greater Than Code, which Penelope was once a guest on. This bonus mini-episode (which also features other GTC panelists Rein Henrichs and Coraline Ehmke) was made out of outtakes from Penelope's GTC episode. This joke was pervasive enough for long enough in the GTC community that it ended up spawning this legitimate spinoff podcast! And now that Jamey is now legitimately a Fast & Furious superfan, it's funny to reminisce back on a time when they were not.
Covered in this bonus episode: what order to watch the Fast & Furious movies in, many jokes containing a speed and also an emotion, the beginnings of quarantine-foiled plans to host a FF marathon at Jamey's house, the fact that Jamey is also a huge nerd about Star Wars.
Episode 8: The St8 of the Sassy
In our latest installment, which wins the prize for best episode title, Jamey and Penelope discuss the most recent addition to the mainline franchise, the F8 of the Furious. Jamey's love affair with the entire Shaw family continues in earnest. There is more movie hacking to make fun of. Everyone in these movies are weirdly good with kids apparently. It's bittersweet that we've reached the end of the mainline series, but don't worry, there are a few more episodes in the works!
Episode 7: Sassy 7
In the latest installment, Jamey and Penelope gush over their favorite film in the F&F franchise yet, Furious 7. Discussion points include: Tokyo Drift's place in the timeline, whether cars are meant to go on the ground or in mid-air, the emotional ending, and the changes that were made after the tragic death of Paul Walker during filming. Jamey unknowingly takes the first steps on the road towards a love affair with the entire Shaw family.
Episode 6: Stationary & Sassy 6
In our latest installment, for the first time ,Jamey and Penelope disagree on whether FF6 was good or not! We discuss how extra all the characters are, the fact that there's a tank, and what the FBI Isn't Like. Jamey also provides an update on their quest to find illegal street racing in Buffalo, NY.
Episode 5: Stationary Five
The saga continues with the first installment of the 5-6-7 trilogy, where our hosts Penelope and Jamey discuss FAST FIVE, where the franchise starts to cease to be about illegal street racing and starts to be about regular BIG ACTION and CRIME. We talk about the dynamics of having the whole crew together, the role of THE ROCK and how physics DEFINITELY don't work when you have a safe trailing from the back of your sports car. Also, for the first time ever, Jamey teaches Penelope something about the Fast & Furious franchise. (And I'm the one who writes the episode descriptions so I get to brag about it as much as I want.)
Episode 4: Stationary & Sassy
In this episode, Penelope rues the day she agreed to do a podcast that forced her to rewatch the fourth installment of the F&F franchise. Jamey is just excited about Nos Energy Drink product placement. We discuss what aspects of the movie were frustrating, what we would have done differently, and where the series is headed starting with Fast 5. ACAB.
Episode 3: The Stationary and the Sassy: Tokyo Drift
Jamey and Penelope continue their discussion about how Cars Probably Don't Work with the third installment of the Fast & Furious series! Jamey gets nostalgic about his time living in Tokyo. A spinoff movie about the Japanese fishermen is proposed. Lil' Bow Wow is in this one.
Episode 2: 2 Stationary 2 Sassy
Jamey & Penelope continue their quarantine watch party with the second installment in the franchise! Listen as they discuss the finer points of demolition derby, video games, ramp jumping and, as always, how Cars Work. Jamey discovers than Vin Diesel is not in this one.
Episode 1: The Stationary and the Sassy
In this brand new show, co-hosts Penelope Phippen (long time fan!) and Jamey Hampton (first time watcher!) intend to watch each of the movies in the Fast & Furious franchise, one per week, and discuss what makes them great! (Or not so great, as the case may be, as Penelope has already warned me about her feelings on Fast & Furious 4.)
