Focus on You Too Homeschool Mom | Teresa Wiedrick, Capturing the Charmed Life | The Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, SE2 E71
About the Episode
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I talk to Teresa Wiedrick from www.capturingthecharmedlife.com Teresa helps homeschool moms shed what’s not working so they can show up in their homeschools (& lives) authentically, purposefully, and confidently.
Teresa has been a homeschool mama to four kids (now aged 14-21). Her writing forays turned into life coaching to serve the homeschool community.
She offers virtual retreats, and group & personal coaching on deschooling, self-compassion, boundary building, and reimagining our homeschool lives. Teresa hosts a podcast and creates a community for homeschool moms who want to show up on purpose in their life.
I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Teresa because she shares so much wisdom about the importance of working on ourselves as working homeschool moms. My biggest takeaway is that homeschooling doesn't last forever, so we need to not only be giving to every other aspect of our lives all the time. We need to take the time we have with our kids to make memories but also to develop, learn and grow.

Homeschooling Gives Kids the Space to Follow their Dreams | Lila J. Wohlwend, Clear Sky Trainer | The Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, S2 E67
About the Episode
On the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to Lila J. Wohlwend. Lila is a best-selling author, investor, business owner, and homeschooling mom.
She and her husband integrated family, business, and investing. Their kids started investing and buying real estate at age 7 without using any of their parent’s money or credit.
Lila now helps other families recognize their own kids’ ability to do more than they imagined, so they can also achieve amazing results at any age. Family Success Triangle is the book she and her husband wrote to teach other parents the lessons they used to raise limitless kids.
I really enjoyed talking to Lila because it reaffirmed my feeling that homeschooling gives kids the space to follow their dreams. If your kid is interested in entrepreneurship, it's a must listen!

Homeschooling Your Teen Through to Graduation | Michele Holmes, Homeschool Directive | The Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, S2 E65
About the Episode
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I talk to homeschool veteran of 30+ years, Michele Holmes. Michele helps homeschooling parents take on the high school years with confidence!
The training and tools she provides through her company Homeschool Directive are the result of years of experience both homeschooling each of her 8 children through high school and coaching hundreds of parents of teens through the homeschool co-op she created and ran for over 20 years.
Michele and her husband Ed live in Northern Illinois but love traveling to visit their 12 grandkids.
I learnt so much from speaking to Michele! Homeschooling high school can be stressful, but she makes it seem much more manageable. I love that she advocates for not changing the way you homeschool high school, but rather adapting it to achieve your child's graduation goals.
If you're getting close to homeschooling a teen, or if you're already in the middle/high school years, I highly recommend connecting with Michele. You can find her here:

Beat Homeschool Mom Anxiety | Charlotte Jones, My Little Homeschool | The Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, S2 E64
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I talk about homeschool mom anxiety. It's something that we've all faced at one time or another. So I wanted to give some ideas for overcoming it in a positive way.
I know that anxiety can be caused by the outside, but also the inside. And I also know that it can be overwhelming when we have to figure out what curriculum to buy or when our kids just don't want to learn. And let's not forget the stress that comes from keeping up with house work! Aaaarrrggghhh!
In this episode, I give you practical ways to alleviate the stress and anxiety. But also some ideas for getting into the right mindset. Because I'm a huge believer in the power of a growth mindset!
Support for Working Homeschool MomsOne of my solutions to beating homeschool mom stress, is to find a community. I know how powerful it is to have someone on your side - someone who gets it!

Include Your Homeschooled Kids in Everything You Do | Christina & Nick Caster, GusPlusUs.com | The Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, S2 E63
About the Show
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to Christina and Nick Caster, creators of Gus Plus Us. Nick’s background is in the music and film industry while Christina’s is in musical theater.
This couple became motivated to create Gus Plus Us once Christina started homeschooling their two children. They strongly believed that the show had to respect the mind of a child. They wanted the show to be meaningful but simple - a show that would bring joy to the whole family.
It was so lovely to speak to both a working homeschool mom and dad, for a change. They had so much to share about including their children in the making of the show. And about balancing homeschooling and work as a team, in a positive and gentle way.

Cycle Syncing for Productivity | Charlotte Jones, My Little Homeschool | The Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, S2 E62
About the Episode
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I talk about cycle syncing as a way to welcome more joy and ease into your life. As women, we have a lot going on inside. Our bodies have to create and carry life, after all. And this comes at a price!
I know that many women are really hard on themselves and want to work at peak productivity every.single.day. But instead of fighting your natural rhythms, why not hack them? And that's where cycle syncing comes in.
Cycle syncing is a terms coined by Alisa Vitti, and she has a great TedTalk about the topic. You can watch it here...

Modelling Entrepreneurship for Your Kids while Homeschooling | Naomi Fata, NaomiFata.net | The Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, S2 E61
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to Naomi Fata. Naomi has been a professional sewing entrepreneur since 2007. She specializes in bridal alterations and custom fitted slipcovers and has recently been delving into teaching sewing online. She is based in New York State, where she homeschools her three children.
It was wonderful to speak to Naomi because we have so many of the same ideas about working and homeschooling. She brings up so many important points about being a working homeschool mom:
There's no need to feel guilty about outsourcing. It's ok to create a life that suits you and your family, rather than comparing. One of the benefits of homeschooling is being able to model entrepreneurships for our kids. Self care can look different for different people. It's ok to do what feels good for you.Be sure to connect with Naomi online:

Jae from Homeschool Yo Kids Speaks Profoundly about the Joy of Homeschooling
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I have the great pleasure of speaking to Jae from the Homeschool Yo Kid app. She is currently on her home learning journey with two beautiful young souls leading the way.
After 14 years in public education, Jae has developed a homeschool app that allows families to comfortably begin their home learning journey with confidence. Homeschool Yo Kids is for new and seasoned homeschoolers that seek guidance, inspiration, and a confidence builder through the access to various resources, curriculum, activities, and a community to grow with.
There are so many fantastic takeaways from this episode. I love that Jae says we're all qualified to homeschool our kids and that we have a choice as to how to do it. And the fact that she says we need to admit we're not perfect. In her homeschool she says: "I don't know. Let's look it up". I love this! I'm sure you're going to love this episode as much as I do!

On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to homeschool blogger and reading curriculum creator, Sarah Miller. Sarah is a homeschool mom of two, and an educator with over a decade of experience teaching kids in preschool through high school.

Curriculum Writer and Blogger Dachelle McVey Speaks about Finding your Unique Path as a Working Homeschool Mom
Today I had such a fun what with Dachelle McVey. She's a working homeschooling mom of 3 in the South. She is the owner of HideTheChocolate.com, a blog about her adventures in homeschooling and parenting. She is also the author of dozens of online book clubs for kids from preschool to high school at her site Literary Adventures for Kids. You can often find her reading a good book (or even sometimes just an okay book) and enjoying a jar of Nutella — don’t judge. ;)
Dachelle is very honest and open about the joys, struggles and logistics of being a working homeschool mom. She believes that it's not possible to strike a balance, but rather to juggle everything we have to do. She also infused everything with fun and energy, so this chat is a blast to listen too! How Growth Mindset Helps Overwhelmed Working Homeschool Moms
In today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I talk about a topic I adore...and that's a growth mindset. As working homeschool moms, we are so easily overwhelmed by all the tasks we have to do. So by taking the ways to nurture a growth mindset that Positive Psychology suggests, I apply it to working homeschool mom life.
I look specifically at how a growth mindset can help you with:
- a reluctant learner
- running your own business
- keeping your house clean
- and healthy habits.
If mindset is also a topic you enjoy, then you should check out my mindset challenge. It's a great way to shift your mindset when you're feeling stuck or in a rut. I also have a time audit printable that goes very nicely with the challenge. As does my Ultimate Working Homeschool Mom PDF planner.
I would love you to join my working homeschool mom community! You can do this by signing up to my newsletters, joining my private group on Facebook or following me on Instagram.
And if you ever need some extra support or someone to talk to about being a working homeschool mom, then please book in a coaching session with me. I would love to help you in any way that I can!
Until next week, take care!

Working Homeschool Moms, Save Time and Reduce Daily Stress with Block Scheduling
In today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I talk about block scheduling as a way to save time and stress. It's a great way to manage your time effectively and in a manageable way! I know that time is such a precious resource for working homeschool moms, so if you're struggling with your schedule, then this might work for you!
Come over to the Working Homeschool Moms Support Group on Facebook and let us know how you manage your time. Do you use block scheduling or is there another way you juggle everything? The group is also an awesome place to meet other working homeschool moms so I would love to see you there! Community is everything!
If you like a paper planner, then The Ultimate Working Homeschool Mom Planner could be the perfect way to start with block scheduling. It has 60 pages in total and you can keep track of everything you might need as a working homeschool mom. Another bonus is the you only have to buy it once and you can use it year after year!
Sometimes, being a working homeschool mom can be incredibly overwhelming. I know because I've been there! At times like this, a mindset shift could help you to see things differently and to make positive changes. The Working Homeschool Mom Mindset Magic Challenge helps you to slow down, regroup and rethink. And in that way you can start creating a life that's more enjoyable.
I mentioned a simple time audit in today's episode because sometimes you need to get a clear idea about where your time goes. You might be surprised by what you find out! Once you have that information, you'll be better equipped to schedule your day better.
I would love to have you on my mailing list. I send two emails a week with a freebie and links to a podcast episode and a blog post. You also get access to my library of homeschool resources, which includes unit studies and other useful printables.
