Jodie understands the challenges of raising your kids, running a business and keeping your sanity...most days. She shares her experiences with other moms so they can confidently work from home and homeschool.

But I'm a firm believer in overcoming mindset blocks first before you tackle any of that stuff.

If you have a fixed mindset or lack confidence as a default, you're going to find everything overwhelming and difficult. Because working homeschool mom life is hard! And it's especially hard at the beginning when you don't know what to do! In this episode I give some practical ways to overcome mindset blocks so that you can be a happy and thriving working homeschool mom. My hope is that it will help you to craft a life that is unique and works for you and your family.

On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to homeschool blogger and reading curriculum creator, Sarah Miller. Sarah is a homeschool mom of two, and an educator with over a decade of experience teaching kids in preschool through high school. 

She helps homeschool parents teach their kids to read with confidence at Homeschooling 4 Him, where she shares tips and tricks to make homeschooling simple and fun. Her Reading Curriculum, Reading Better Together, uses side by side reading stories and scripted, science-backed lessons to help kids fall in love with books through the process of learning to read.

My biggest takeaway from the chat is how we should prioritize becoming experts in our children. Because after that, the homeschooling gets easier! As someone who struggles to sleep, I basically did the research for the episode for myself. But if you struggle too, then I hope that it will give you some ideas for getting more of the best self-care activity ever.

Some ideas I came across are:

taking magnesium and melatonin (always check with your doctor first), avoiding caffeine and alcohol, sticking to a regular schedule, meditation, and biphasic sleep.

So by taking the ways to nurture a growth mindset that Positive Psychology suggests, I apply it to working homeschool mom life. 

I look specifically at how a growth mindset can help you with:

 - running your own business

 - keeping your house clean

 - and healthy habits.
