Union and Diaspora Mobilization in the Farmer's Protest
Join Sudhanshu as he speaks to Navyug Gill, professor at William Paterson University, and a PhD in History from Emory where his research focused on labor and agrarian studies, caste politics, global capitalism and subaltern studies. He’s written extensively on Punjab, agriculture, caste and economy of cultivation.
The interview discuss a topic that has been on almost every news channel, feed and a talking point in India and outside of India: the farmer’s protest occurring in North India. Now, a lot has been said about the bills, about the supposed agrarian economy, the impact on the current Mandi system, the politicization of the protests, the media response as well as the the creative ways farmers are showcasing their ability to protests the bills that were hastily passed in September of this year. Yet, not much has been said of what I believe is the crux of this movement: the mobilization of unions behind this protest. At the later end of the show, we focus on the relationship of the diaspora and the protests.

Trump Understands Indian-American Votes Do Matter
Donald J. Trump is visiting India. Is this a presidential visit to advance ties of both countries, or is this a political visit to ensure the re-election of Donald Trump as president? But why would Trump go to India if he wants to win an election? Tune in as I discuss electoral politics and demographics with pollster and incoming Cornell Law student Nitin Nainani as we discuss why this visit and why now? We believe it's because the Indian-American vote and demographics do matter. Demographics are not destiny, which is why you see many Indians shifting from the Democratic Party and changing their loyalties or voting for Donald Trump, and he knows this. Several battleground states that Trump needs to win have a thriving and rising Indian-American population.

The Election Commission of India is Using Tech To Change India's Election
The world's largest elections are managed by the Election Commission of India. Typically, the Government of India is known for it's bureaucratic hurdles and slow process, but the ECI stands out in innovation. I'm joined by Dr. Kushal Pathak, the Chief Information Office and Director of Information Technology of the ECI, as he explains in-depth of the incredible work that the Election Commission of India has undertaken to make elections easier for the electorate as well as safer and efficient. At a time when the ECI has suffered a credibility issue, it seems the commission has been working to ensure that India's voters and candidates have a free and fair election process, with the help of technology.
Some interesting topics we cover: did you know you can now monitor your booth and how busy it is by the ECI's booth app; how the ECI is looking into mobile voting; that the ECI has over 10 mobile applications to ensure a free, fair and accessible election process; and so much more! Interested in GovTech and CivTech? Learn more about how India's ECI is at the forefront of this change with this podcast.
