गलती ज़रा सी कर दी थी मैंने, लापरवाही में कुछ कह दिया था,  चेहरा उनका सुन के जो मुरझा गया तो मेरे ज़र्रे-ज़र्रे में ग़फ़लत के जुर्म का ज़हर घुल गया, कैसे नज़रें मिलाऊँ उनसे, कैसे मुस्कराहट वापस लाऊँ मैं उनकी? माफ़ी माँगने का हौसला भी जैसे खुद से ज़िरह के समंदर में डूब कर गुम हो गया। 

Every once in a while, something we say doesn’t come out right - and then it keeps boomeranging, making us bite our lip in consternation - making us think why we said what we did and how others might have heard it. How do we come out of that circle of self-castigation?

Why do people change? This is a question we often ask. We wonder how a person can become quite a different person over time.

What will you do if you were so beautiful that people never distrust you? What will you do if your beauty was perpetual…if you never aged a day?

If you haven’t read “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde, you should read it. If you have read it and haven’t figured it out, you probably read it when you were too young. If you have read and understood it - I’d love to hear your thoughts, but before sending them in, do listen to mine.

In this episode, I tell you the story of this amazingly philosophical, possibly autobiographical story by Oscar Wilde, the writer who helped me figure out why art will always be felt and never understood.

सरकारी स्कूलों में पढ़ना एक बात है, और teachers की absence को routine मान कर, खुद को संभाल कर, independent हो कर, आगे बढ़ना - यह heroic नहीं तो और क्या है? इस episode में मैं अपनी आपबीती आपके साथ share कर रही हूँ। उम्मीद है की इस episode से मैं prove कर पाऊँगी, कि "सरकारी Schools + ग़ायब Teachers = असली Heroes!"

Government Schools in the northern belt of India (Rajasthan, Haryana, UP, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar) are mostly Hindi Medium, and I’ve studied in a few of those (in Rajasthan and UP.) What I learned by studying in those schools is that kids who study in those schools learn a lot more than just their subjects (which they sometimes don’t learn much of) - they become stronger, more independent, and if they take things in their stride, they also turn out be a lot smarter than their more privileged counterparts.

Note: This episode is a bit autobiographical, especially the LHS of the Equation :)

A decision is never right or wrong; it's the result of a decision that's favorable or unfavorable. If you've been regretting a decision that you've made, and you may have made quite a few recently - then you should remember that decisions that went wrong have been taken by people throughout our history and mythology - and that whether or not a decision turns out to be right, depends on factors that are beyond your control.
