Each one of us has a good work to do. We may not see it yet, but it’s often right there in front of our eyes. For Nehemiah, it was a crumbled wall. For you, it could be an injustice in the world, or a need you see what no one else does. During this series, we will learn how Nehemiah responded to his own calling and learn how we can change our own world just by leaning into the unique calling that God has put in front of each of us.

We are so excited to have Pastor Johnnie Wilson with us this weekend!

Pastor Johnnie has been in Full-Time Youth Ministry for over 25 years. He has been the student ministries director at Faith Assembly of God in Orlando, Florida; overseeing middle school, high school and young adult ministry since 1996. God has brought significant growth to this ministry with over 1600 students attending weekly.

In 2020, he transitioned into a new role as Executive Pastor at Faith Assembly. Pastor Johnnie also travels extensively, speaking at camps, conventions, and conferences throughout the country.

He and his wife Jamee live in Orlando and have five children.

Messy Grace shows us that Jesus’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself” doesn’t have an exception clause for a gay “neighbor”—or for that matter, any other “neighbor” we might find it hard to relate to. At the beginning of the year we started talking your relationship with God; because that's where it all starts. But then after you kind of get to know God and you start a relationship with him, the next thing that should start to happen is that you start growing.  Growth looks like becoming more like Christ. He saved you for something. There's an action. There’s a purpose. There's a living out that purpose. So we want to talk about how that works.

What's the meaning of work, why do we work, why do we spend so much time working? What's underneath of this? And so what I want to attempt to do today is to give all of us a proper theology of work, a proper understanding of the biblical view of work,

God's purpose for your life is multiplication, the very first command that God gives in scripture is be fruitful and multiply. That command applies to us and it's more than just physically multiplying. God wants us to to multiply spiritually, to have spiritual sons and spiritual daughters, that the impact of our lives would spill over into the lives of other people. But my fear. Is that too many of us are living isolated, kind of Christian lives are the impact of our Christianity.

What I want you to see is that you have a purpose later in life. You have a very real purpose. You probably won't discover your purpose until you've lived a while. It takes a while to figure out what that purpose is. But can I tell you this? It's not your occupation. You may set aside an occupation, but you never set aside your purpose.  Do you know that your purpose is the calling on your life that comes from God and cannot tell you that you have a calling? Whether you ever enter into full time ministry, not full time ministry isn't necessary for you to have a calling. I think God calls farmers. I think God calls Mechanics'. I didn't like to when I was a teenager. I hated farming, hated being in the country, didn't want to live in the country. It's funny how you change when you're older.

Every year, we set new goals to change the past, try something new, do something different. But if we're honest, the New Year can start to sound like a broken record. We want to lose weight, save money, get organized. We think if we can just working harder, make it better, do it faster, we'll be stronger. But maybe we're trying to change the wrong thing because the common denominator of every part of your life is you. Yeah, you've got 99 problems and you're a part of everyone. So what if this year wasn't about what you've done, haven't done or will do, but rather who you are?

Every year, we set new goals to change the past, try something new, do something different. But if we're honest, the New Year can start to sound like a broken record. We want to lose weight, save money, get organized. We think if we can just working harder, make it better, do it faster, we'll be stronger. What if this year could look different? It’s time to let God heal the Ghosts of Christmas Past.  This series deals with painful issues like labels, offenses, and low self-esteem.

This series reminds us that despite the uncertainty of the world and the pressure we place on ourselves, Scripture directs us to release that anxiety to God. When we do, we don’t have to lie awake at night. Our shortness of breath can be replaced by life-giving rest. We can feel a peace that goes beyond all understanding. We will be challenged to be open about our insecurities and recognize that we all suffer from them.

This series reminds us that despite the uncertainty of the world and the pressure we place on ourselves, Scripture directs us to release that anxiety to God.
