Our Top 10 Watches Under $1,000
**Hello everyone, Nicholas here. This week's episode is late for one of two reasons: One, I forgot to schedule it for publication or two, Anchor messed up. I've been having issues with Anchor lately and would love to find a new provider tbh. Regardless, apologies, but enjoy!**
This week on The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com, John, Victor, and Nicholas break down their top 10-ish favorite watches under $1,000. But before that, John has some follow-up on a watch that, ahem, greatly resembles a Rolex GMT Master II. Timestamps (we're trying a new format for these, hopefully they work!) (0:00) John's thoughts on his "GMT Master II" (8:20) The top 10 begins: Hemel Air Wing (9:30) NTH Watches (10:15) Seiko King Turtle (10:40) Citizen Tsuyosa (11:40) Hailos (12:30) Imperial Royal Guard (13:20) Heimdallr's Willard Homage (15:00) Casio Frogman (16:10) Seiko Orange Monster (17:55) MoonSwatch (19:00) Tissot PRX (21:00) Tissot Seastar (24:30) Victor has some Belhamel follow-up, outro Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for his help producing this week's episode. Seestern, Heimdallr, and Tudor, Oh My!
Hello and welcome to The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John is away this week. He sends his regards.
**For a video version of this podcast, simply visit our YouTube channel.**
This week, Victor and Nicholas primarily discuss three big topics: Seestern's new Pelagos homage and how it compares to similar pieces from the likes of Heimdallr, and why you'd want to spend $300 on an homage versus a rep; Rolex's certified pre-owed program; the Belhamel Contra A40; and some DIY watch project stuff. We also briefly mention some big New York Times article on replica handbags, which *we think* is relevant but we didn't actually read the article.
We also bring back audio podcast chapters with this episode. Adding chapters tacks on several more minutes to post-production so hopefully someone out there appreciates them. If your podcast player supports chapters you can more easily skip around to different segments of the episode. Many of the most popular podcast apps, including Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and Pocket Casts, support podcasts, but I (Nicholas) don't know offhand if Spotify does. I guess we'll see!
Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for his help producing this week's episode.

This Watch Looks Like a Bowl of Sherbet
Hello and welcome to The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Yes, we're still on Twitter. If you have a Bluesky invite please get in touch with us lol.
**For a video version of this podcast, simply visit our YouTube channel.**
This week we primarily discuss three watches: the Graham Fortress Green, the Christopher Ward Twelve, and, your main event of the evening, the very summery Timex T80. Do we like them? Do we meh them? There's only one way to find out!
Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode, both the audio and video versions.

Making Friends With Watches? Plus, Boldr x Pokémon & Baltic Goes Bronze
Hello and welcome to The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We may have lost our blue checks but we're still here!
Victor is out sick this week, so this is a quick episode.
John and Nicholas touch on three big topics this week: Boldr's new Pokémon collab, the bronze Baltic Aquascaphe Morron, and whether or not it's possible to become literal friends with someone because of the watch they're wearing.
Good clean fun!

Daddy Happy

This week, the gang mostly discusses the murky world of replica watches, better known as "reps." It seems John is tempted by the idea of buying a rep GMT Master II, so we hash out live on the air what he should do.
There are a few other topics but that's the gist this week.
Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.

Catch The HourTime Show on YouTube!
Hello everyone, Nicholas here.
This is just a quick public service announcement to let you know that The HourTime Show is now on YouTube.
Our channel is YouTube.com/@wristwatchreview, and there you'll find our video episodes. Any and all WristWatchReview.com video content will live there too, with this dedicated playlist hosting HourTime itself.
The audio-only version of the pod isn't going anywhere, but we thought it would be fun to make a video option available for folks.
Thanks!

Rolex Has Releases. We Have Thoughts.
Hello and welcome to The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
If you're not aware, The HourTime Show is now on YouTube! Simply subscribe to the WristWatchReview YouTube channel, and new episodes of HourTime should (knock on wood) appear as part of a dedicated HourTime Show playlist. Like and subscribe!
This is a shorter episode this week because John had what's known in the business as a "hard out." Meaning, he had a work thing to do right after.
But the pod never sleeps! (OK, we occasionally sleep.)
This week we tackle all of Rolex's new releases that were announced at Watches and Wonders this year. Your hosts' reactions are... mixed. We then tackle the Oris ProPilot X Kermit and get into where all these cutesy watch collabs came from.
There's a bit more but that's the gist!

Our First Video Pod! Plus, Is Tissot the New Tudor?
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John is traveling this week and couldn't record.
WE HAVE NEWS!!!
This week's episode is our very first attempt at creating a video podcast. You can watch it HERE.
For various reasons we've been wanting to experiment with producing a video edition of The HourTime Show for a few months now, and we've finally decided to give it a shot.
The audio podcast will not got away! But, we basically wanted to give folks an option of watching video since we know that's important to folks. There will be some bugs as we figure out the workflow, but hopefully everything works properly.
For now, the video version will be found on YouTube. Again, you can click here to watch the first episode. Like and subscribe, and all that. (Yes, it's being hosted on my personal YouTube channel for now.) We might expand it to other platforms (like Spotify) but I (Nicholas) don't actually know how that will affect the audio feed. If anyone at there does know please tweet me or email me at nicholas@wristwatchreview.com.
If you have any suggestions or anything like that please email the show at tips@wristwatchreview.com, tweet us, or ping us on Discord.
All credit to Andrew Haworth for producing both the audio and video edition of The HourTime Show!
As for this week's episode, we tackle a bunch of subjects including Rolex's alleged production increases and whether or not we think Tissot is the new Tudor. What does that mean? No one knows what it means but it's provocative. It gets the people going!

Has the MoonSwatch Jumped the Shark?
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
With Victor away this week John and Nicholas decide to break down what exactly is "off" with the latest MoonSwatch release. How did something that was universally well-received end up becoming... whatever this is?
Pretty decent convo on how the vibe has shifted.
There's a bit more but that's the gist.

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting VERY VERY TINY edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your host this week is Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
John and Victor could not record this week so I'm publishing this quick thingamajig mostly to remind you to join our Discord.
If you were in the Discord last week you would have seen our LIVE REACTION to the new Omega MoonSwatch. John has larger thoughts here.
You might have also missed Patrick's take on the new Atelier Jalaper AJ-P400.

ChatGPT, Create Some Cool Watch Brand Names for Us
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We open the show this week with some more ChatGPT hijinks, asking it to write a watch podcast intro from scratch. Sounds OK to us! We intend to mess around with this tech a bit more in the coming days and weeks.
Victor then goes into detail with a Houtman, which he has on loan at the moment. This sparks a wider discussion on branding, design, and so on. Of course, we had to then ask ChatGPT to come up with some watch brands for us.
Lastly, we help Victor pick a travel watch. Sounds like he needs a GMT of some sort!
There's a bit more but that's the gist.

WristWatchReview Micro: G-Shock Frogman & Nivada Chronoking
Hello and welcome to a special MICRO edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Victor (@vmarks) appears at the very end for approximately three seconds.
Why micro? Because Nicholas, who is a very important person, had to take a call during our usual recording time and we didn't want to miss another week. So, micro it is!
We open with a great deal of G Shock talk, brought about by Nicholas's recent visit to the gun show in Tucson. A looot of G Shocks there, let me tell ya. This newest Frogman? Eh, a little busy for our tastes.
We then shift to a quick discussion of this Nivada and the VK64 mecha-quartz movement. What's the deal with the 24-hour subdial?
And that about does it for this MICRO episode.
Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing.

Will AI Design Your Next Watch?
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We open the week with some AI talk, stuff like ChatGPT and Dall-E, and whether or not these tools can be used to create watches. We more or less land on, "Sure, why not?"
We then pivot to a new (to us) Norwegian brand called Aigi, whose Satellite Ground Station we're definitely big fans of. John loves it, and he hates everything!
Victor then brings the brand Houtman to the table, which he now has in for review. Another new-to-us brand that's a winner. Nice!
There's a bit more but that's the gist.

The Hnauty List
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Full house!
We open the show this week with, get this, some actual watch talk.
First on the docket is the Hnauty Hero-X, which John has in for review. As is befitting our general ideology, we're basically OK with this! The price is right, it looks fiiiiine, and so forth. Is it in the same level as all those APs that were announced last week? Well no, but we think it's cool overall, silly name notwithstanding. We're in a good mood this week!
We then take a tangent to discuss WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING to design and/or aesthetics in this country.
We then take another tangent to plug our Discord. We're still in the early stages of figuring this out so please be kind.
Victor has some thoughts on the Alpina Alpiner Extreme Automatic Freeride World Tour, leading to an overall discussion on Alpina itself.
Thaaat's about it!

John and Nicholas Ponder the Meaning of Life
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Strap in for a weird one, friends.
With Victor out, John and Nicholas take you on a meandering meta journey about the meaning of life and a bunch of other stuff. I love this discussion to be honest.
Now if you listen to a watch podcast expecting to eventually hear about watches, good news: We talk about this new Kross Studios Bob Fett tourbillon, this Christopher Ward Dune GMT, and this Shinola GMT.

We Ring In the New Year Three Weeks After It Began!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
This is the first podcast of 2023, so hooray! We should be back to our normal recording schedule from now on.
At the top of the show we reveal that Nicholas (IE, the person writing these show notes) has left New York for Tucson, Arizona. See you in heck, New York!
As far as watch news go, we discuss a couple of nice pieces including this handsome Traska GMT that apparently we all love; this Vulcain skindiver that we're ehhh on; the (potential) impact of the (potential) recession; and this Laventure Automobile Chronograph, which we're also sorta meh on.

Sorry, We've Been Sick
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Welcome to the final episode of 2022. Sorry we've been AWOL, but for a number of reasons that are explained here we were unable to record.
We touch on a few topics in this episode, including the Barstool Sports guy's dumb watch; Timex's weird NFT thing; John trying to eBay this Seiko he no longer wants; and what we're happy and/or thankful for this year.
I (Nicholas) edited this episode, so apologies if it's not up to our usual standard.

Brands to Keep an Eye on for Black Friday
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We open The Pod with a status update on Nicholas: He's alive! Yup, he had The Covid and was out of commission for several days there. But he's feeling much better now. Hooray!
Believe it or not but we actually talk about watches this week, focusing on some Black Friday deals we think you should keep an eye on. We mostly touch on brands like Timex and Invicta (!) but then also suggest visiting sites like Chrono24 to find vintage pieces this holiday shopping season. Nicholas also wanted to randomly highlight this RGM Yellowstone National Park watch. Neat!

Yema Has a Kickstarter and We Have Thoughts
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Victor (@vmarks). Nicholas was recovering from The Covid when this was recorded but should be back in the saddle next week.
John and Victor discuss a bunch of stuff this week including Yema doing a Kickstarter for a Wristrmaster Traveler Micro-Rotor, which vaguely resembles a Royal Oak. If you back the Kickstarter it can be yours for roughly $1,500 but if you wait for retail availability it'll set you back closer to $3,000. Ouch!
We then shift to a discussion of Timex's collab... thing with Fortnite. We're cautiously pro-VR/AR/etc here but this has us scratching our heads... but we could just be old, who knows. There's actually a decent discussion here on the evolution of media and various moral panics ("comic books will destroy children's souls!" etc.) so you're in for a treat.
The last big topic we discuss is vintage watches. We're slightly skeptical of vintage watches because you generally don't know what you're getting but John recently purchased a Seiko Speedtimer and Victor got a Duward Aquastar. Hear them chew over their decisions!
Speaking of vintage watches, there was a really good article over at Fratello about Zoomers apparently loving them.
That's about it for this week.

Benrus Makes *The* Field Watch, Everyone Hates Standard Time, Plus Swatch's Internet Time!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
One quick note: Producer Andrew is traveling over the next few weeks so Nicholas is handling editing duties. It *should* sound fine but, unlike Andrew, Nicholas is not a professional editor. You've been warned!
Moving on.
John opens the show with his thoughts on the Benrus 3061, which we basically all love. If you look up "field watch" in the Watch Geek Dictionary you'll see a photo of it. Not bad for a $600 jawn that was featured in the movie Bullitt!
We then turn to a topic Nicholas saw in a local newspaper about how everyone hates Daylight Saving Time, and that its days may be numbered. We go into the history or "point," perhaps, of switching the clocks back and forth every spring and autumn, and basically land on the idea of: pick one and stick with it.
At this point, Victor brings up Swatch's old idea, from the late 90s, of "Internet Time," which was an attempt to create a universal time zone, in a sense, that used a measurement called beats and was featured in Phantasy Star Online. Let's bring it back!
Victor then runs us through a $30,000 Zenith psychedelic chrono that he believes resembles those old Trapper Keepers.
Lastly, we go over the Omega MoonSwatch. Turns out that A) John bought one in Poland a few months ago and B) it's going on tour over the next couple of weeks in a few cities in California and Florida. So, if you want a MoonSwatch and live in one of these cities, feel free to hit up Swatch on social media for more details.
And that, as they say, is that.

Tag's new Super Mario F1 chrono, dual wristing & customizing your Apple Watch dial
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
After some brief Baseball Talk, we jump right into the Watch Talk.
We update everyone on the release of the Lorier Neptune Series IV, which went on sale on Friday Oct. 14 but has already sold out. If you want one now Lorier estimates the next batch will ship in March 2023.
Then there's some Bicycle Talk. Sorry.
We then discuss Tag's new Mario chrono, which we KIND OF like but not entirely. Full credit to A Blog To Watch for their awesome photography of the watch though.
Next: Nicholas has been dual wristing with an Apple Watch SE and regular watches. Is this MADNESS? We discuss.
We continue with Apple Watch talk and then Victor explains how to customize your Apple Watch dial using an app called Clockology.

Everyone Is Here And We're Actually Talking About Watches
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week, for the first time in a million years, are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Hooray!
John opens the show with some alarm clock talk and the whimsy of Brooklyn!
In terms of watches, we've got a bunch actually this week.
Victor discusses the Ollech & Wajs M110 which he recently saw in Paris; John brings up the Redwood V2 (of course, the automatic version) and an annoying problem with Miyota movements; Nicholas discusses the new Apple Watch SE which he bought because his trusty Series 4 finally died; and more!

Pardon Our Dust: Technical Glitches
Howdy folks! This is Nicholas writing the show notes, as I do every week, just to add some context to this quick episode.
As I explain, John and Victor are still in Europe so we couldn't coordinate a time to record, but I did want to highlight some cool stuff in the meantime.
But first: We've been having some technical difficulties which means there's a good chance many of you did not listen to the episode ("Hello Again!") that we released on Sept. 26. It should be available in your feeds now, and the direct link to the episode is here. These glitches appear to be fixed now but we did want to apologize for the inconvenience.
Back to watches: Please check out Patrick's take on the recently released Shinola Mechanic as well as the latest Timex x Todd Snyder.
Also: please read my article on gaming chairs on Consumer Reports!
I think that's about it for this week.
I'm sure you know where to find us but don't forget to visit WristWatchReview.com as well as on Instagram. And if you want to reach us directly feel free to email us at tips@wristwatchreview.com or ping us on Twitter: John is @johnbiggs, Victor is @vmarks, and I am @nicholasadeleon.

Hello Again! Refined Thoughts on the Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar & The Quantified Self
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John was AFK while we we recording because we recorded at a weird time.
We're back! As we said a few weeks ago, all three of us were going to be traveling all over the place during the month of September so it was not going to be possible to record. Victor is technically in London right now with a MacGyver recording setup but he sounds OK.
Moving on.
We have a bit of follow-up on the Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar that Nicholas bought a month and a bit ago. Does he still like it? DOES HE NOW HATE IT? Listen to find out! If you're intrigued by all this "quantified self" or "sleep tracking" stuff this is the segment for you.
Victor, after discussing his experience with a pair of Atoms shoes during his trip, has real watch news as well, including some stuff from Ollech & Wajs and Armand Nicolet.
That's about it for this week.

Solar Week: Garmin's Forerunner 955 Solar, the Best Vacation Watches While Traveling, and More!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John (@johnbiggs) is still in Europe so he couldn't record, but he wants you to know that he loves you.
We open this week with a bit of an explanation as to why we've released episodes at a weird clip over the past few weeks. Basically, between travel and work stuff, we have not been able to consistently get a quorum at our usual recording time. Victor and I (Nicholas; I write these notes) will be in and out with travel of our own over the next few weeks as well, but don't fret: this is just the dog days of summer, and we'll be back to our regular-as-rain schedule probably by mid-September.
We also have a question: Should we do video? YouTube is making a big podcast "push," so we're kicking around the idea of doing a video version of HourTime. We don't mind either way, but if THE PEOPLE DEMAND IT we'll consider it more seriously. Nicholas's recent appearance on This Week In Tech is a good preview of what this would look like.
Onward!
This week we discuss a range of issues including Nicholas's extended thoughts on his brand new Garmin 955 Solar smartwatch, which he bought to sort of give him a kick in the pants to get better at jogging. It's pretty good, especially the battery life! We'll see how the new "sport" Apple Watch, which is expected to be announced in early September, compares.
Victor then gives his thoughts on the Redwood Tactical V2, a solar diver that he also likes!
We then also talk travel watch strategies: Do you risk getting a nice watch stolen or lost, or do you buck up and say, "Let's go, baby!" Do you bring several watches? This great article over at Fratello goes over some travel watch ideas going into this more. Victor's solution: building his own watch!
We then touch on an updated Oris Divers Sixty Five, featuring the brand's own Caliber 400 movement. I can't link to it at the moment I'm writing these notes, but I'm sure if you Google around *right now* you'll find it.

We Interview Luminox Co-Founder Barry Cohen!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John is still in Europe and will be unable to record for a little bit longer.
This week we have a special episode where Victor and I interview Barry Cohen, the co-founder of Luminox and currently of ProTek, a watch brand that Patrick recently wrote about for the site.
Victor and I pick Barry's brain on all sorts of stuff, including what it was like launching a watch brand in the 80s/90s compared to today; dealing with online influencers; ProTek's support of first responders; and more!
If you like our discussions on the business side of watches this episode is for you.
Big thanks to Barry for making the time to speak with us.
As a reminder, if you use the promo code "hourtime" at checkout at ProTek you'll get 20 percent off your order and a free t-shirt. Very cool!
Lastly, thank you again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.
Have a great week, and be sure to catch Nicholas's most recent appearance on Leo Laporte's This Week In Tech if you're a fan of our occasional tech talk!

Interview: We Talk to Lorier Watches About the New Neptune SIV, Building a Brand, and More!
Hello and welcome to a special edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your host this week is Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon on Twitter).
This week we have the honor and privilege of talking to Lauren and Lorenzo from Lorier Watches, a brand we've discussed many times of the pod before. We reached out to discuss the upcoming Neptune Series IV and ended up discussing basically everything related to running a watch brand here in 2022, including what inspires them, logistical challenges created by all this supply chain *stuff*, how to navigate online comments, and more. If you're interested in learning more about what it actual takes to run a watch brand this is the episode for you.
One quick note: because of our recording setup you may sometimes notice a slight echo here and there but I did my best to tamp that down. We also lost our internet connection about halfway though, so there's a brief pause while we regroup. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy!
Thank you to Lauren and Lorenzo for taking the time to speak with us. Please visit their website, LorierWatches.com, for more information on their upcoming releases and to sign up for their email newsletter. John's Hands-On Review of the New Seiko GMT!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Hooray!
After a small amount of delightful banter we jump right into John's HOT TAKE~! on the new Seiko GMT that we've been talking about the past few weeks. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good!
We then talk about the "value" of $1000-ish three-handers or whether or not you're better off going with a $200 AliExpress piece.
There's a few more points we touch on but that about does it.

Why Is It Still So Hard to Buy a MoonSwatch?
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Full house!
We touch on a handful of topics this week but spend the bulk of our time on the MoonSwatch, the mega-hyped watch that took the watch world *by storm* just a few months ago. Our question: why is it still so hard to buy this thing? There's going to be a MoonSwatch Summer Tour all across Europe over the next few weeks, but you still have to jump through hoops (ie, visit a boutique, of which there are only a handful!) to actually buy one. What gives?!
MoonSwatch aside, John reveals that he's purchased a Seiko GMT, which should arrive in a few days. Consider this a tease for his full hands-on impressions hopefully next week!
John also gives his thoughts on the new Bulova A-11 Hack, which for $400-ish seems pretty cool, and Victor gives his extended review of the Yema Superman 500 that we discussed a few weeks ago.
There's a few more but that about does it for this week.

Too Many Watches To Fit Into This Episode Title Text Field
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John, alas, could not record this week. He sends his regards, probably.
Every once in a while we have a week that's chock full of watch news, and this is one of those weeks!
Your pals discuss everything from the new Tudor Ranger, which, eh, we're not super into; the Moser x Undefeated "collab," which we're also not super into; and the Lorier Neptune Series IV, which we are into.
In other Lorier news, we're hoping to get them on the pod in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned!
Victor also has a WWR Chrono update but you'll have to visit the website, uh, this week, for further details.
There's a bit more but that's the gist of this week.

Hands-On With The New Yema Superman 500!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John, alas, could not record this week.
After a bit of preamble, including the status of Victor's air conditioning system and Nicholas's delightful recent appearance on the Lan Jam Podcast, we do in fact talk about watches this week. Hooray!
Most of our focus is on a couple of recently announced King Seikos, including the very handsome purple dial SPB291 (around $2000), that both Victor and Nicholas are quite into!
Victor then gives his hands-on impression of the recently announced Yema Superman 500, a $1200-ish diver that he currently has on loan. He's a big fan! Why? You'll have to listen to find out.
There's a bit more but that's the gist of this week.

Friends Don't Let Friends Buy Three-Handers
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We've got a short and sweet episode this week because John is recovering from Covid and Victor's air conditioner died. Nicholas asks that you please read his article on office chairs in Consumer Reports. Thank you.
As far as watches go, we mostly talk this week about GMTs and how they're useful, with John now fully on board with the new Seiko GMTs that were just announced. John notes that he often sees tech bros with more money than sense (cents?) spending all sorts of money on three-handers, which causes him great pain. The rich get richer!
Hat tip to fan of the show @ayhcheung on Twitter for flagging the Miyota movement we discuss here.
That about does it this week. Like we said, short and sweet this week.

Emergency Podcast: New Seiko GMTs Announced!!!
There is nothing wrong with your smartphone. Do not attempt to adjust your audio settings. We are controlling transmission.
Yes that's right, it's time for our first-ever emergency podcast!
John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) is traveling for work, but Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon, aka the person writing these notes) wanted crack open their mics to talk about the just-announced Seiko SKX-style GMTs that were made official earlier today. Yes, we've discussed these before, but now we have the full details. Look for them this summer for around $500-ish.
We also touch on (and actually open the show with, because of course we do) some Apple watchOS 9 stuff that was announced on Monday (this is the Nintendo thing Nicholas mentions), a handful of new Garmin smartwatches, and Nicholas gives his full thoughts on the Seiko SPB239 / SBDC141 that he just purchased. Is a $1000 Seiko worth it? You'll have to listen to find out!
Thank you for listening, hopefully it sounds halfway decent.

Haggling Over Discounts Triggers Our Anxiety
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We tackle a few big topics this week.
The first is the very strong rumor of an SKX-style GMT coming from Seiko, uh, any minute now. Victor has the lowdown on the main site if you want to read the specs, but it appears we're looking at a $500-ish GMT that very closely resembles the SKX/5KX family of divers. Are your pals interested? Maybe... maybe not.
Nicholas then notes he recently broke the four-digit mark for the very first time, having purchased the Seiko SPB239 (technically the JDM version from Gnomon Watches which is the SBDC141.) He received the watch in the mail literally the day after recording so stay tuned for the full review. (Spoiler: It's gooood... mostly.)
Lastly, the main event: we discuss the "culture" surrounding getting a discount while buying watches. Nicholas spotted an article on Fratello the other day talking about whether or not getting a discount at ADs is over, and it sparked a discussion on the whole deal.
There's a bit more but that's the gist.

[Memorial Day Re-run] Our Return Episode from December 2020!
Hello everyone, Nicholas here.
We couldn't get everyone this weekend to record, being Memorial Day weekend and all, so we're re-rerunning the very first episode from this incarnation of The HourTime Show from December 2020.
The audio is not quite up to our current standards, but it should be listenable.
Anyway, enjoy this blast from the past, which mostly consists of how John and Nicholas met and how we all got into watches. Other podcasts might charge for this sort of rare archive material, but we're giving it away for free!

Our Misadventures In Crypto
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We've got a breezy episode for you this week as Victor opens with an update on that WT Author Kickstarter he had mentioned a few weeks ago (now with his review!); we bring up our still-on-paper plans to produce our own watch; whether or not smartwatches actually help you lose weight, featuring a shout-out to Nicholas's article in Hodinkee last fall about that very subject; and how "a guy we know" did very well in crypto and is now looking for a shiny new Tag to buy.
There's a bit more but that's the gist.

Breaking Down the Google Pixel Watch, Plus Ethics in WWII Watch Collecting
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Full house!
This week we open with some house business. First, I (Nicholas) would like to apologize to everyone who reads these show notes because Spotify had recently and *without our authorization* been inserting donation links into them. They claim it was a bug but who knows. I am not exaggerating when I say I was pretty annoyed when I discovered that.
John then calls out Teddy Baldassarre's team for wanting to pay us to swap a set of affiliate links we have on the site for links of their own. This was news to me when John brought it up (he handles the business stuff when it comes to the site itself), but is another example of something we talk about all the time: Is all of this *watch stuff* journalism? Is it mere content for your social media feeds? Does anyone else care about this? Anyway, as I've said in the past, I'm a fan of Teddy's YouTube channel and think he does very good stuff, so we'll see how this plays out.
We then touch on something we noticed on Worn and Wound a few days ago, policing the use of the phrase "poor man." Now, it turns out that my comment was *eventually* published, but it wasn't published for at least a day!
Anyway, we are fired up!!!
We then move onto the idea of the ethics of collecting WWII-era watches. John stumbled upon a Ukrainian eBay seller who is selling what he claims to be watches produced for Nazi Germany's military. What are the rules here? We debate.
Lastly, we then dive into the just-announced Google Pixel Watch. Overall, our impressions are along the lines of, "Well, if this gives Android users a solid smartwatch for the first time maybe ever (?), then that's good."

[Rerun] Our Initial Reactions to the Omega MoonSwatch!
Hello friends, Nicholas here. Your pals were unable to record this week so we've decided to re-run the March episode where we gave our initial reactions to the Omega MoonSwatch. If you've already listened to that episode, well, I guess you can delete this. But if you haven't, enjoy!

We Are Asking Once Again for Feedback
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Nicholas may sound slightly "echo-y" this week because he had his mic improperly positioned. Sorry!
We kick the show off with some house business: Please take two seconds to help us make a watch! Yes, Victor is spearheading the project, informally known as the "Cholex," whereby your pals at WristWatchReview make their own watch. We're still at the feedback stage, so please read this blog post and fill out the little form. Thank you!
Onto other news, Victor brings word of a fun WT Author watch that's currently being Kickstarted. It looks, well, huge, but Victor has one on loan and he says it wears pretty well.
We then veer into a quick discussion of movements, including the relatively new Soprod movement Newton and its use by Ollech & Wajs, and Seiko's lack of an affordable chrono movement. We also touch on some leaked images of Seiko's upcoming GMT SKX using the 4R34.
There's also some random Apple talk, but that's about it for the week.

Misaligned Bezels Are a Cope!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Yes we've got a full house here this week on The HourTime Show, with John opening the discussion with some talk on his SEESTERN (yes, the name is capitalized) and how it compares to an actual Doxa Sub 300T he has on loan. If you thought the real Doxa would blow away the SEESTERN in terms of build quality and so forth, well, you're 100 percent correct. But, one retails for roughly $2,000 while the other goes for less than $200. So, you know.
Nicholas then tells the tale of his brand new Pagani Design PD1651, a Rolex Yacht-Master "homage" that is baaasically a piece of junk: the bezel is misaligned and the date wheel doesn't advance with the hour; you have to manually change the date by pulling out the crown one click. It's too bad because, as Victor says, from 10 feet away it looks pretty cool! The rubber strap is awesome, to be fair to Pagani Design. (Nicholas misspoke by saying it was leather; it's rubber.)
We then touch on the MoonSwatch, now that the dust has settled.
There's a bit more, but that about does it for this week.

We Interview Micheal Culyba, the Director of 'Keeper of Time'
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your host this week is Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon on Twitter and Instagram).
This week we interview Michael Culyba, director of the documentary Keeper of Time. As you'll hear in the interview, we're pretty big fans of the doc and think you'll enjoy it too.
Keeper of Time debuts in New York City on April 28. If you're in the NYC area you can purchase tickets for its in-person screening. You can also purchase tickets for a livestream virtual screening, which is available worldwide.
Everyone who purchases a world premiere ticket is entered to win a Unimatic x Massena LAB U1-MLBN Friends & Family Edition watch. It's a limited edition watch, with only 80 made, and we think it looks pretty cool. Culyba tells us that the more tickets you buy, the more chances to win. Neat!
And that, as they say, is that.

Help Us Create a Watch (Really!)
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Before we get into the meat of the episode we have a request: Please take two seconds to look at this design of our in-house watch idea (case and latest dial design) and tell Victor what you think, either by tweeting him or emailing him at victor@wristwatchreview.com. We're very seriously considering creating it but we're at the stage of the process where we need a ton of feedback, whether it's good or bad, before taking any next steps. Thank you!
Moving on, this week is mostly about re-capping some of our favorite (and least favorite) watches that came out of the Watches and Wonders trade show. Yes, we're a little late but we couldn't record last week. Among the watches we touch on are the new Tudor Black Bay Pro, the new Yacht Master with a wacky "falcon eye" dial (Hodinkee has good photos), a new Panerai Submersible made with something called "E Steel," which is supposedly "sustainably sourced," and this titanium Oris with a salmon dial. We also touch on some Patek news--or is that Longines news? (Zing!)
And that, as they say, is that.

The MoonSwatch Is A Total Vibe Shift
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Look, yes, there's huge news this week, but we have a couple of things to talk about beforehand.
The first is that we're giving away a watch! Yes, the kind folks at Whitby have provided us an Intrepid X Chronograph for you to win. Simply enter here for your chance to win. Huzzah!
Next, Bulgari. They've broken the record for the world's thinnest mechanical watch. Plus, you get an NFT with it. Nice!
Lastly, we're genuinely looking for feedback on a watch we're considering manufacturing; an early mock-up render can be found here. This would be a huge undertaking, so please email Victor (victor@wristwatchreview.com) with you're feedback.
OK, MoonSwatch time. Keep in mind that this conversation was recorded on Friday, March 25, one day before the MoonSwatch was released.
Victor and Nicholas give their full and frank opinion on all things MoonSwatch: the initial marketing tease, how it fits into the wider "hype" cycle, what you're actually getting for your $260, and more. This is a pretty long discussion by our standards but hopefully it's formative and entertaining.
There's a bit more, but that about does it for this week.

Four Wolf Moon
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks on Twitter), Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon), and WWR Managing Editor (IE, the guy who actually runs the site!) Patrick (@PatrickWatches).
That's right: we've got us a full four-wolf moon this week!
Victor kicks off the wrist check with a watch he recently assembled from parts featuring an Elgin dial, which we then explain what that means. Patrick is wearing the Mido Ocean Star GMT, which he's in the process of reviewing. This kicks off a quick discussion on different types of movements, who makes what, etc. John and Nicholas (well, really Nicholas) merely smile and nods here. Speaking of John and Nicholas, John has an Omega Speedmaster Professional and Nicholas has his PT5000-based SteelDive. The crown is too small to turn comfortably but the watch seems to keep time pretty well. For less than $200 it's hard to complain.
This brings us to one of our main discussions of the week, and that's whether or not people like Nicholas, who like watches but who maybe don't have a spare $5,000 to buy every shiny Omega that comes down the pike, are perhaps "doing it wrong" by gravitating toward brands like SteelDive. We've touched on this in the past but now Patrick gives his take. John adds some interesting insight from the world of alternative investing, and how that's driving up the cost of some watches.
There's a bit more, but that about does it for this week.

Wasteland Survival Guide
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks on Twitter), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Time for a wrist check: Victor has a Bulova, Nicholas has an Orient Bambino, and John has a GMT Tudor, his love affair with his "Tiffany Blue" Seestern having seemingly come to an end.
After opening the show with a bit of guitar talk ("It's a little hobby of mine," says John), your pals to the idea of watches in the apocalypse. Obviously. Will Daytonas or Pateks have any value in a world where society has broken down and we're all fighting for scraps? Would having a solar-powered G-Shock make you some sort of magician in your post-historic settlement? Very possibly, especially if as John points out you've got one of those G-Shocks that can display tide data. The way things are going, we may find out soon enough.
We close the show by touching on some recently announced pieces, including Tissot's PRX chronographs and the deep green Omega Seamaster 300M.
There's a bit more, but that about does it for this week.

The Strongest ROI Is Enjoying a Thing
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We open this week with a quick discussion on why Orient (which Nicholas is wearing this week) isn't as big as Seiko. They make good watches!
Next we discuss the brand that has taken WristWatchReview by storm over the past few weeks: Seestern! Nicholas bought an orange model a few weeks ago, and we've since discovered why it's called "Seestern." There's a starfish on the clasp, and "Seestern" is German for "starfish." Another watch mystery, solved.
We then turn to the idea of market value and why certain watches are worth X instead of Y, with Victor going over some of the watches he's looking to move on, including an Aikon and a veeeery 90s Tag Heuer Kirium.
There's a bit more, but that about does it for this week.

Welcome to the Watch Tank
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
We open this week with a wrist check, which we're pretty bad at remembering to do but here we are: Victor has his Sandoz (which resembles this guy), Nicholas has his white dial Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical, while John is wearing the infamous "Tiffany Blue" Seestern!!!
This leads to our main discussion of the week: the role that the Seesterns of the world play. These are bands like Seestern, Steeldive, Heimdallr, etc. and whether or not they're "acceptable" for watch fans who don't necessarily have $5,000 to drop on the latest Omega. As much as I'd like the NTTD Omega, eh, I don't exactly have $10,000 to spend on a watch right now.
We then briefly touch on the upcoming Watches & Wonders trade show, and talk a bit about trade shows in general. They're cool, sure, but don't feel bad if you've never been to one.
That just about does it for this week.

We Are All Unique Consumers!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks), and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
This is one of our trademark meandering / semi-ridiculous episodes where we discuss two million things including, eventually, watches.
After a quick dalliance into the realm of alternative facts, we open this week with a wide-ranging discussion about the just-announced, and quickly sold out, Seiko 5 Sports x Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary Limited Edition. We mostly use the watch's existence to discuss the intersection between journalism and "content," and whether or not that's a distinction that means anything anymore. To Gen X folks like John and Victor, that absolutely was a distinction that mattered. But do Millennials care, as a matter of course, about publications releasing branded watches? (Nicholas, the show's Millennial correspondent, doesn't really care; everything is content.) Do Zoomers? If you're a Millennial or Zoomer, please let us know because we have no idea.
One thing we'd like to correct, for the record: We mention on the air that this Worn and Wound LE is based on the $100-ish Seiko SNK803, but Producer Andrew has kindly informed us that it's more likely based on the $275-ish Seiko SRPH29. We regret the error.
We then move onto some sort of meta discussion on, well, the meaning of life. Buckle up.
That just about does it for this week.

Throwing Money at AliExpress
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John was traveling while we were recording. Kinda hard to record a podcast from an airplane!
We open the show with Victor explaining the nightmare he's encountered with a recent chronograph purchase and return. Switzerland! China! New Jersey...? Listen to find out.
Nicholas then detail his own recent purchases, including a Steeldive bronze Willard homage (which he loves!) and the just-released PT5000-powered... Steeldive Willard homage. Yes, Nicholas has a problem. The crown on the PT5000 model is a liiiitle small, making it very hard to turn. Not fun. Listen to Victor's advice as it relates to Hemidallr-Steeldive-San Martin, friends.
Nicholas also bought a nice Orient Star off eBay, that he's quite satisfied with! If only he had a nice place to go!
Lastly, we highlight some interesting discussions we've seen online in recent days, including what type of bracelet you'd put on a silver watch like the BB58 925, the expected proliferation of 36mm watches this year, and a great article in Fratello talking about building a watch collection on a student budget. Good stuff!
And that, as they say, is that.

All About Radium Lume
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon), which if I'm not mistaken is the first John-Nicholas episode in this production run. Excelsior!
There was slightly less news this week than last, where the return of King Seiko was on everyone's minds. And while John and Nicholas do touch on King Seiko a bit at the tail end of the episode, this week we mostly focus on a post John published about the use of radium in watches prior to the 1970s-ish. Pretty fascinating! John also explains why he wrote the post, which I think is also interesting, given my ostensible career in media. (If it's not clear, Nicholas writes these show notes.)
Nicholas then very briefly touches on a Longines event that he attended this week (where he met Teddy Baldassarre!), which explains his poor audio quality this week. Look for a post on the site in a few days.
And that about does it.

King Seiko Is Back, And We Have Thoughts
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter), Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon), and Patrick (@PatrickWatches).
For new listeners, Patrick is the managing editor of WristWatchReview but his schedule typically doesn't allow him to record with us very easily. But we're happy to have him on the pod this week, especially as John was busy with work stuff.
Anyway!
We've got a big and juicy news-filled podcast this week. After some initial banter about watch size preferences, we dive into the just-announced King Seiko re-launch and an interesting interview the CEO of Tag Heuer gave to Hodinkee.
With King Seiko, we discuss our initial reaction to the new watches (mixed, though Nicholas is largely a fan) and what we would have done differently. One major complaint people seem to have is the use of the 6R movement, in a $1700 watch. This movement has somewhat of a mixed reputation online (it doesn't appear to keep time very well, for one), and to see it in a watch at this price point is... well, people aren't happy.
With Tag, we mainly discuss where the brand "fits" in the watch world today, and how we might market a watch brand specifically to a younger demo.
That's about the gist of this week.

Interview: We Speak With Alex Gravelle of Velle Alexander Leather Watch Straps!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Joining us this week is Alex Gravelle, who makes fine, bespoke leather watch straps under the brand name Velle Alexander.
Alex contacted us recently asking to see if we'd want to talk all things leather straps on the show, and we readily agreed. After what feels like a couple of weeks in a row complaining about the state of the watch industry, this is definitely a much welcome change of pace. Watches are supposed to be fun!
In this interview, Alex walks us through how and why he created Velle Alexander, explains what it's like actually creating a leather watch strap, and generally educates us on all things leather.
It's a great little interview and we hope you enjoy it!
You can find Alex on Instagram (@vellealexander) or directly on the Velle Alexander website.

Back In My Day, Speedmasters Cost Only $2700!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
Victor and Nicholas open the show with some doom and gloom. Grocery stores are empty, prices are going up, and watches are unaffordable. It's all a little weird, if you ask us.
The meat of this week's episode was prompted by a recent article by Jack Forster over at Hodinkee (via friend of the show Alvin Cheung) regarding how watch prices have gone waaaaay up compared to, say, 10-15 years ago. John joins the pod right around here to explain how things were back in The Day, where you could buy a Speedmaster for like $2,000. Those days are gone, leaving people like Nicholas who are new to watches and don't have thousands of dollars to drop on run-of-the-mill divers shopping at brands like Steeldive and San Martin.
There's a bit more to the episode, but that's about it.
Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.

Hype Beasts Have Distorted The Watch Game
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are the returning John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).
It's the first week of 2022 and John very strongly believes that this, friends, is the year that Everything Will Be Fixed! We shall see.
In the meantime, your pals discuss a handful of watch-related topics, including their thoughts on traveling with expensive watches, why it suddenly feels like many more people are "aware" of watches than 10 or 15 years ago (blame social media), and whether or not Rolex is as big as we think it is. We sorta think that, as big as you think Rolex is, it may be even bigger!
We then go over some of the watches we wore over the holidays: John wore a Speedmaster Professional and a Cronos he recently reviewed, Nicholas (as previously mentioned) wore his G Shock and Apple Watch, while Victor wore his Sandos. Victor is also waiting for a chronograph to arrive from eBay, so we'll return to that when he gets it.
Next, we discuss a $1500 Shinola that WristWatchReview Managing Editor Patrick Kansa recently covered on the site. "A complete mess," in the words of John.
Lastly, we design live on the air a coqui-inspired watch that Nicholas can proudly wear the next time he's in Puerto Rico. Here's what a coqui sounds and looks like if you have no idea what we're talking about.
And that, as they say, is that.

Our Sorta Kinda Year-End Watch Recap
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor and Nicholas.
Your pals are recording this episode on Christmas Eve, so we open the show with a bit of Christmas talk: How are you celebrating, did you have any traditions growing up, that sort of thing. Victor is having a nice family meal and Nicholas briefly brings up his on again, off again World of Warcraft addiction.
Moving onto watches, the pod very loosely discusses 2021 in watches. Victor brings up the meca quartz-powered Brew 8 Bit while discussing fun designs, Nicholas brings up Seiko's move up-market and whether or not people will tolerate paying $1000 for a watch with alignment issues, and Victor brings up the Seiko SNK809 as a a good modding base. Victor then delivers a history lesson as to why telegraph wires are built along train tracks.
Lastly, the crew discusses watches that "got away" this year, including Nicholas's rather sub-par customer service experience at a Tourneau that led to him not buying the bronze Hamilton Khaki Mechanical and an Oris Divers Sixty Five that Victor missed out on eBay.
There's a bit more, including a quick aside on watches we bought after reviewing them for the site (including this Vaer) but that's about it for this week.
Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.

Rikki from Scottish Watches Drops By!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor, Nicholas, and Rikki from Scottish Watches. Yes!!!
We start this week with a quick explanation of where we've been. Nicholas had to make an unexpected trip to Puerto Rico to attend a family matter but he's back in New York now and everything is OK. The trip did provide a good opportunity to wear the solar powered G-Shock (GWM5610-1), which definitely did a good job.
The trip to Puerto Rico also inspired Nicholas to start wearing his Apple Watch around the house again. This, in turn, sparks a wider discussion on smart watches, whether they're "real" watches or not, and the role that the Apple Watch plays in introducing folks to watches. This, by the way, is something Nicholas recently wrote about for HODINKEE (!), how the Apple Watch rekindled his interest in watches. Please read it!
We then turn the discussion toward more traditional watches, and Rikki goes into what he's been wearing the most lately, the Horage Tourbillon-1, and his attitude toward the wider hobby and how being a content creator influences his thinking. Rikki also recounts his recent visit to Dubai Watch World, including the "vibe" of the show given that we're still dealing with Covid.
There's a bit more to the episode, including watch media talk, the role of influencers, and good (and bad!) affordable watches, but these show notes have gone on long enough.
Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.

Breitling takes to the skies, HUBLOT has cement shoes, and ADs don't love you
John goes to Breitling and gets deafened by an airplane. Hublot makes a watch out of cement and wants 25 Thousand Dollars for it, and Authorized Dealers don't love you.

Hello everyone, Nicholas here. Your pals have taken the week off to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families, but rather than leave you hanging we've decided to re-run our interview with John Gruber from earlier this year. Have a great week, and we'll see you next week. -Nicholas
**Original Show Notes Follow Below**
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John, Victor, and Nicholas. Also joining us this week is fellow watch aficionado and longtime Apple observer John Gruber of Daring Fireball.
We start this week with a quick wrist check: Victor's got an Ollech & Wajs C-1000, Nicholas has his gray CasiOak, and John has his Seamaster Chrono GMT. Gruber, who joins about one-third of the way through the episode, is wearing an Apple Watch (though he notes that he'd just as likely be wearing his Rolex Submariner ref. 14060M).
Nicholas has a brief follow-up to a topic we discussed several weeks ago: whether or not the photos for the Hodinkee edition Oris (which we liked!) were shot on film or not. We now have confirmation that at least some of them were, and that the video was shot on Super 8. This leads to a mini rant from John on the state of media today and a critique of some very busy-looking Omegas.
We then move onto some Apple talk, focusing on the newly released iPhone 13 and 13 Pro. Should you upgrade? That depends on where you're coming from, iPhone-wise, but certainly the macro photography mode of the 13 Pro would come in handy if you take a lot of watch photos. Instagram, here we come.
Gruber then joins the pod, sparking a wide-ranging discussion of the Apple Watch, Rolex price creep, getting into "real" watches, and more. It's a great chat with some real watch geeks, so you're in for a treat!
And that, as they say, is that.
Big thanks to John Gruber for taking the time to hang with us this week. Be sure to read Daring Fireball, listen to The Talk Show and Dithering, and follow him on Twitter.

Stunting for Instagram Clout
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor and Nicholas.
First, apologies for missing last week. Both John and Nicholas were unavailable to record at the usual time so it was easier to skip a week.
Moving on, we open this week with a very quick John rant on the evolution of watch media and whether or not people are merely chasing money and fame on social media or are actually into watches. It's hard to tell sometimes.
The main topic of the week, however, is the new Tudor Pelagos FXD. Our perception is that it received a mixed reception online, and that's our reaction too: mixed. Tudor had a pretty good year with some of their earlier releases (like the silver BB58!), but this one doesn't quite knock it out of the park for us. Ah well.
John then brings up a really nice looking new Casio, the MT-G MTGB2000YBD1. The name / model number is a little much, but we're super impressed. The price ($1,200) is perhaps a little high for what amounts to a nice G Shock. That then prompts a discussion on the "right" watch for a good long backpacking trip in Europe. Producer Andrew had a good suggestion: this Citizen Promaster. Technically it's a diver but it could be a good choice.
Hilariously, John then casually mentions that he just bought a Speedmaster. This is what's known as "burying the lede," folks! John then takes a minute to go over some of the Speedmaster variations for folks who may not be familiar with them.
John then makes a last-minute request: What's the last watch you'd be prepared to buy? Tweet your answers at @johnbiggs.
And that, as they say, is that.

Joker Purple
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor and Nicholas.
We open the pod with a bit of smartwatch news. Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, appears to be working on some sort of smartwatch, one with what looks to be a built-in camera. Why would you want a camera in your smartwatch? We discuss, including Victor telling a story over the time someone threated to beat him up (!) because he was wearing Google Glass.
Next we do a wrist check: Nicholas has on his Seiko Samurai (SRPD09) on a navy blue NATO that he claims matches his outfit. Victor, meanwhile, discusses a Michael Kors watch he bought for the sole purpose of harvesting the links for use on his Sandoz diver. Victor then discusses a Soner square watch he's got on. These looks pretty neat, but they're huuuuuge. Sigh. The Kickstarter for the automatic version is here, by the way.
And that, as they say, is that.

The AliExpress "Zenith" Has Arrived!
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor and Nicholas.
Let's start with a wrist check: Nicholas has one of the recently released green CasiOaks that he got for retail while Victor has a Sandoz dive watch.
More importantly...
The AliExpress Zenith that we've talked about at length over the past few weeks has arrived. And boy, it's a hunk of junk! Look, it's a $25 watch that A) works and B) very vaguely resembles the Zenith Chronomaster Sport, but that's as far as we're willing to go. I love a storyline that pays off.
Moving on, we then discuss a new Rick and Morty edition G-Shock. Ehhhh. It's not terrible, but as Victor details it just feels sorta lazy? It goes on sale tomorrow for $170 if you want to add it to your collection, or are shopping for a big Rick and Morty fan.
Our last topic this week is a just-announced partnership between PC gaming accessory maker Razer and Panerai; they're making a watch! There's a short teaser video we found that gives hints of what to expect. Weird, but we're here for it.
And that, as they say, is that.

Overpriced Everything
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John, Victor, and Nicholas.
We forgot to do a wrist check but we make up for it by discussing our first "big boy" watches: John had some sort of mecha-quartz from Seiko, Victor had a Swatch Irony, and Nicholas had a Citizen Flieger.
This leads into our main discussion this week, which is somewhat of a continuation of what we've talked about in recent weeks: What are good first watches for folks getting into the hobby? John thinks it's perfectly fine to get some no-name watch from AliExpress nowadays because the traditional brands have all but abandoned the entry-level market. We touch on this interview with the new Seiko CEO in the Financial Times discussing the brand's move upmarket.
Honestly, we've been doing this incarnation of The HourTime Show for nearly a year now and I (Nicholas, I write the show notes) think this is among our best extended discussions.
And that, as they say, is that.

The AliExpress Episode
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor and a traveling Nicholas who, by the time you're listening to this, has seen the movie Dune at a screening. It was amazing!
Let's start with a wrist check: Nicholas has his JDM Seiko King Turtle (though he's been eyeing the Citizen Super Titanium Armor over the past few days), while Victor technically isn't wearing anything but is patiently waiting for an AliExpress "version" of the Zenith Chronomaster Sport that came out at the beginning of the year. Sit down, grab a drink, and listen as Victor and Nicholas spend the next 67,000 hours shopping live on AliExpress!
Eventually we move onto other topics, including the Apple Watch Series 7 (which sorta gets a "meh" from us, at least in the context of "Should I upgrade from a Series 6?") and alternatives to the Apple Watch. Victor suggests looking into Garmin and Withings.
Our final meaty topic of the week is a discussion of good introductory watches (which is hilarious because John suggested this topic and he's not even here to talk about it). Nicholas votes for the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical, Victor votes for Vaer and Kuoe, and producer Andrew suggests the Tissot Le Locle and the Tissot Visodate.
We'll talk more about this next week, but here's that Financial Times interview with Seiko we reference at the tail end of this episode. This browser extension will help you get around the paywall if you run into it.
And that, as they say, is that.

Watches: The Primary Driver of Our Happiness
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (eventually), Victor, and Nicholas.
We start this week with a wrist check. (Yes, sometimes we forget.) Nicholas has on his bog standard Islander (ISL-02), which is on an Uncle Seiko waffle strap, Victor has a Rolex Explorer ref. 114270 that he's been trying to fix. This, in turn, sparks a discussion on daytime running lights and other wacky DIY exploits. In this house we believe in science, and so on. John joins a bit later and has some sort of GMT Tudor.
Onto the main topic of the week: Seiko's new automatic chronos. We generally like the release, but we're slightly skeptical (OK, super skeptical) about the $3000+ price tag.
John then joins the show and walks us through his thought process for buying a new watch, or buying anything of value ("any number of things"), including guitar pedals, cars, Willard homages, and more. ProTip: Want a Willard-ish watch actually made by Seiko? Consider the recently released 1970 Re-interpretation, which you can find for roughly $1000 on Chrono 24.
We wrap up the episode with a homework assignment: What, in your opinion, is the definitive "first watch" for someone just getting into the hobby? We're open to considering homage watches like Heimdallr or San Martin in addition to original brands. You can email us your answers at tips@wristwatchreview.com or let us know on Twitter (our names at the top of the show notes link to our handles).
And that, as they say, is that.

Why It's So Hard to Buy a Rolex (Gruber Guest Appearance)

How Many PancakeSwap Tokens Would It Take to Buy Breitling?
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John, Victor, and Nicholas.
Victor and Nicholas open the show with a harebrained scheme to buy Breitling, which Nicholas had spent the past few days admiring after baaaasically paying less than zero attention to it. Do we keep the brand's established dealer network or try to go direct to consumer? It's an interesting question that we spend some time thinking over out loud.
John then joins the pod for some quick watch-adjacent commentary regarding capitalism and his disappointing experience with a Seiko Baby Tuna that ended up with condensation after a trip to the beach. Ridiculous!
We then cast our eyes upon the just-announced Apple Watch Series 7, which has a slightly larger screen and is now dustproof. But is it a good upgrade? Sorta depends on where you're coming from, but if you've got a Series 6 or 5, eh, why not try to get another year out of it? Nicholas has a Series 4 and intends to keep that around for at least one more year. If it ain't broke, et cetera et cetera.
We wrap up this week with a chat on the latest Casio G Shock smartwatch, which John has been reviewing over the past few days. He likes it!
And that, as they say, is that.

What Watches Should Be (John Rant)
Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are the returning John (!) as well as Victor and Nicholas.
John is back with a vengeance and immediately calls out the shenanigans needed to buy a Rolex nowadays. We can all agree that Rolex makes nice watches, sure, but are they any nicer than AP or Patek that warrant jumping through so many hoops? Or, for us mere mortals, something like an Oris? We debate!
Next up, we discuss Patrick's recent review of the Islander ISL-38, a Datejust-esque (or is that SARB-esque, as Victor suggests?) piece that is available from LongIslandWatch.com. (If you're not familiar with Marc from Long Island Watch's YouTube channel, well, you should be. Good stuff!) Nicholas owns an Islander or two and thinks they offer good value for someone who's just getting into watches or has a more modest budget.
We then move onto the Timex x Todd Snyder MK1 Bootcamp, a field watch we also recently reviewed on the site. Folks, we've got some mixed feelings on this one, which John describes as a pastiche along the lines of an anime version of a World War II watch. The strap looks cool, but otherwise? Ehhhhh. Hey, at least it's cheap ($138).
We close the episode with John explaining his philosophy on watch journalism and why he prefers highlighting smaller, lesser-known brands that are still affordable rather than focusing on high-end such-and-such you see highlighted on a lot of other websites. Once upon a time, Hunter S. Thompson wore a Rolex not because "it's a Rolex" but because it could do a job while taking a beating.

How do you pronounce Prospex?
Hello and welcome to the latest episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor and Nicholas. Stay a while, and listen.
We open this week with some Apple Watch news. According to a recent report in the WSJ, it may soon gain a whole bunch of health-related capabilities including the ability to measure blood pressure. While we may not necessarily need these capabilities today, they do go some way toward fulfilling Tim Cook's 2019 suggestion that Apple's biggest contribution to mankind will be related to health.
We then take a quick right into strap discussion, including rumors suggesting the upcoming Apple Watch Series 7 will not work with Series 6 (and older) straps and how new straps can help rekindle your interest in old watches. YouTuber Teddy Baldassarre, who we like a lot actually, recently made this suggestion and we wholeheartedly agree!
Next up, some of the watches that were announced at the recent Geneva Watch Days trade show... Nicholas doesn't get 'em. They're *very* fancy and impressive in their own right, but are they really the same thing as like an SKX or Seamaster or Oris? IDK! We're talking pieces like this Urwerk, this Girard-Perregaux, and this Greubel Forsey.
We close out the week with our two cents on brand management, or lack thereof, focusing on Citizen, Seiko, and Bulova.
That about does it. Thank you again to Andrew Haworth for producing.
Please keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content, and let us know how you pronounce "Prospex" by emailing us at tips@wristwatchreview.com.

Big Mad on the Internet!
Hello and welcome to the latest episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Victor and Nicholas are your hosts this week. Thank you for listening!
We open this week with a discussion of two watches that were just announced: the $49,000 Grand Seiko SLGA008 (aka the "tree ring dial") and the $895 Bulova MIL-SHIPS-W-2181. Neither of us are likely to afford the Grand Seiko any time soon—listen as we lament about not investing in bitcoin when we first heard about it *more than a decade ago*—but the Bulova is pretty handsome and fairly priced. As Victor points out, you could get a WMT watch and get the same "look" for about half the price, but sometimes you're OK with spending twice the amount to get a logo.
To follow up on the bitcoin tangent we get to in this part of the episode, it's somewhat difficult to determine what a bitcoin was worth in December 2009 when Victor read the white paper because there was almost literally zero people using it. The nearest I could find was this chart from BitcoinWiki which suggests that you could have purchased roughly 1,300 bitcoins for $1 in October 2009. There wasn't exactly a Coinbase back then so this is all somewhat academic; the point is that if you had somehow spent *any* amount of money on bitcoin in late 2009 and held onto it (big if, admittedly) you proooobably would have no problem buying a couple of Grand Seikos today.
By December 2010, when Nicholas had first heard about bitcoin, things were a little more established and it was worth roughly 30 cents per bitcoin. So, $100 invested in bitcoin on Dec. 31 2010 would have got you about 333 bitcoins, which is worth about $16 million today.
Anyway, back to watches.
We close this week's episode touching on a few more things, including the endless debate over big watches and last year's Tag Heuer Carrera Sport.
That about does it for this week. We extend our thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing.

A Little Stand Out-y
Hello and welcome to the latest episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (wrist check: this Cyma day-date) and Nicholas (wrist check: a Series 4 Apple Watch). Thanks for listening!
So, watches! We open this week's show with a brief discussion on the Apple Watch and some of the rumors we've been seeing in recent weeks, including hints at an all-new design for this year's models (ie, Series 7). Apple usually hosts an event in September announcing its new iPhones and Watches for the coming year, so ~~watch~~ this space.
We then highlight the new Norqain Adventure Neverest, which both Victor and Nicholas are into. That, then, sparks a discussion on what should and shouldn't be considered an in-house movement, a topic Victor and Patrick also discussed a few weeks ago. Does a brand have to make the movement on their own for it to be considered "in-house" or is there any wiggle room there?
The last major topic this week is the new 38mm Oris Divers Sixty-Five Caliber 400 Limited Edition for Hodinkee. At $3,800 there's quite a bit of a premium over a standard issue Divers Sixty-Five but what are you gonna do? Listen as Nicholas gushes over the product photography here and wistfully remembers his brief interest in film photography. Time comes for us all.
Oh, and if you're a glutton for punishment feast your eyes on this Undone Astro Boy. Yeesh. You're better off with the Unimatic SpongeBob!
Outside of a quick aside for this Scurfa Treasure Seeker diver, that about does it for this week Thank you again to Andrew Haworth for producing.

Five-and-a-half o'clock
Hello and welcome to another exciting episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com
First, apologies are in order for missing the past few weeks. The tl;dr is that your intrepid hosts all had various scheduling conflicts and couldn't record. Boring, I know.
Anyway!
Victor and Patrick are your hosts this week, and kick things off with a proper Wrist Check, with Patrick wearing the very handsome Mido Ocean Star while Victor is rocking two watches (well, one earlier in the day and one at time of recording), a Cyma and a Hoffman panda racing chrono. Good stuff.
The meat of this week's podcast is a discussion on the merits of an in-house movement: What they are, what "counts" as in-house, and why we as watch fans should care.
We then pivot to discussions of the new Citizen NB1050-59A, which Victor outright calls "brilliant," and the role of typography in watches. All good stuff.
Thank you again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode. As we say every week, if this podcast sounds good it's because of Andrew!
Please feel free to reach out with your feedback. You can email us at tips@wristwatchreview.com, DM us on Instagram @wristwatchreview, or ping us on Twitter: Victor is @vmarks, Patrick is @PatrickWatches, and John and Nicholas, who were not able to record this week, are @johnbiggs and @nicholasadeleon.

Victor and Nicholas are your hosts this week, and they begin with a quick recap of last week's "what watch do you think of when you think of this car?" segment. Should we pivot and turn the podcast into a game show? Send us your thoughts at tips@wristwatchreview.com.
Moving onto to watch stuff, Victor walks us through the watch that he's been wearing of late: the Charlie Paris Concordia. It's a diver with some Tudor vibes that Victor mostly likes, except for its dodgy crown. We then pivot to a chat about some of the new NTH watches that should be available this month. This is a brand we've talked about in the past, and it's one that we like a lot, so we're excited to see these in real life soon enough. And if Nicholas has any luck, he'll see his Valve Steam Deck in December!
We also briefly touch the recently announced--and now sold out--Super Mario edition Tag Heuer smartwatch, which sparks a wider discussion on smartwatches. This particular "collab" one gets a big meh from your hosts thus far, but we'll see what Tag and Nintendo have up in their sleeves in the future.
That about does it for this week. Once again, thank you to Andrew Haworth for producing.
Thank you for listening, and be sure to keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and @WristWatchReview on IG for more fun watch content.
Have a great week!

Big Watch Is, Um, Watching
Hello and welcome to the latest exciting episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com!
John, Victor, and Nicholas are here to touch on one of the stranger "collabs" we've seen in a while, between Tag Heuer and Nintendo. They've got a Super Mario watch that's set to be announced on July 13, and we're basically like... hmmmm. We'll see.
In news from The Real World, President Biden issued an executive order last week that asks the FTC to create so-called "right to repair" regulations, which basically means that manufacturers will be required to make available spare parts, schematics, and other tools so either you can fix it yourself or you can take it to the repair shop of your choice, even if that repair shop isn't officially affiliated with the manufacturer itself. So, we discuss the watch connection!
We then play a little game, invented by Victor, attempting to link cars and watches. IE, what watch comes to mind when you think of a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic? A Jaguar? A GMC Suburban? A Dodge Charger? After you play along at home feel free to send more ideas to tips@wristwatchreview.com.
We end the show with a quick note on some Real Weirdness going down in the world of Watch YouTube, where a prominent YouTuber named Just One More Watch temporarily had his channel banned following a counterfeit claim after he published a video on how to spot a fake watch. A handful of other YouTubers then took it upon themselves to remove their own similar videos. So, will this create a chilling effect on future "how to spot a fake watch" videos? Be careful: the tentacles of Big Watch know no bounds.
Anyway, that about does it for this week. Once again thank you to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.
Feel free to reach out via email at tips@wristwatchreview.com or you can contact the hosts individually (John, Victor, Nicholas) on Twitter.
Keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content.
Thank you for listening and have a great week!

Patina, or a Fancy Word for Corrosion?
Hello and welcome to latest episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com! We've got a fun one for you this week, most notably including an appearance by WristWatchReview Managing Editor Patrick Kansa. Patrick is usually busy while we record so this is a rare treat indeed.
This week Nicholas recounts his trip to the Grand Seiko boutique in Manhattan where he saw the just-announced SGBZ007; the gang discusses the brand new Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Bronze (which, in an update to what you hear here, Nicholas tried to see in person the day after this podcast was recorded but left the store after 30 minutes of waiting around without being helped--thanks for nothing, Tourneau!); Patrick takes us through some of the watches he's been looking at in recent days including the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT and the Shinola Duck; and Victor brings up a microbrand named Ciga that's apparently been pulling off some crowdfunding shenanigans--not cool!
A big thanks are in order to Andrew Haworth, who produced this week's episode (as usual) and helped clean up some behind-the-scenes audio bugs. Recording and editing good-sounding audio isn't easy!
Please feel free to contact the show via email at tips@wristwatchreview.com or you can send us DM on Instagram @wristwatchreview. Remember to keep it locked on WristWatchReview.com for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

Don't Forget to Wind Your Watch
Hello and welcome to another exciting episode of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com.
Victor and Nicholas are your hosts this week and kick things off by discussing watches matching clothes, our favorite type of chrono types (panda or reverse panda), and watch brands cooperating with each other a la the prisoner's dilemma. We then move onto the topic of watch sizing and what's "optimal" and where the idea of "bigger [watches] is better" comes from. TVs, pick-up trucks, smartphones... everything is huge! Anyway, feel free to email us at tips@wristwatchreview.com with your idea of the perfect watch size.
We also touch on the idea of having a carefully curated watch collection. So, instead of having 100 different so-so watches, you save up and have, say, 2 or 3 really nice ones, which is Nicholas' ultimate goal once he gets a Grand Seiko Snowflake.
That about does it for this week! We'd like to once again thank Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.
To reach us, feel free to send an email or DM on Instagram at @wristwatchreview. And of course, keep it locked to wristwatchreview.com for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

So *That's* Where the Oris Bear Comes From!
Welcome back to The HourTime Show, the flagship podcast of WristWatchReview.com! Victor and Nicholas (who apologizes for his echo-y audio; he was not as his usual recording location this week) are your hosts this week discussing all manner of things including a recent trip to a Manhattan luxury watch retailer to try on the Doxa Sub 300T; a little bit of history about Doxa and the James Bond novels (which you can buy for cheap on Amazon!); a simmering feud between former Doxa Sub GM Rick Marei, now of Synchron, and Doxa itself; and the challenge of modernizing old watches (and cars, in a brief tangent) for today's consumers.
And in a follow up to last week, Victor has the full details on the Oris Bear, where it comes from and what the connection is to Oris. Very neat!
We also briefly discuss a couple of new Seiko Astrons that we spotted on an Italian message board.
Once again thank you to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode and salvaging Nicholas's crummy audio.
Please be sure to visit WristWatchReview.com and @WristWatchReview on Instagram for more fun watch content. And feel free to email us at tips@wristwatchreview.com or DM us on Instagram with your feedback. Thank you for listening, and have a great week!

Why Do Bad Watch Things Happen to Good Watch People?
Welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com!
All three of your pals John, Victor, and Nicholas are here this week, and John immediately makes his presence known by taking issue with a chrono made by Aragon Watch. This then leads to a larger discussion about general watch lameness, including wobbly crowns, ghost date movements, and private WhatsApp groups where the nouveau riche flaunt their latest pickup. Must be nice.
Victor shifts the discussion to Amant, whose recent Kickstarter campaign caught his eye, and a watch that he himself designed. Nicholas then interrupts to bring up the Tudor Black Bay 58 925 Silver, which everyone on the pod liked a lot when it was announced a few months ago, but that, at least according to one YouTuber, is already tarnishing! What the heck!
Lastly, we take a few moments to discuss which brands are in and which brands are out, including but not limited to Tudor and Oris. To paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, what's the deeeeeal with the Oris Bear, and why does he have his own Instagram account?
Once again thank you to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode, and thank you for listening.
Please feel free to send feedback to tips@wristwatchreview.com, and keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

This Podcast's For You
Welcome back to another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com! It's just Victor and Nicholas this week, but don't worry: we actually talk about watches.
Before we get into the actual show notes, for next week we'd love to hear your top picks for best watches at $300 and $500, based on what you know now in your watch collecting journey. Please email us at tips@wristwatchreview.com with your choices (we won't use your real name on air, unless you want us to). Thank you!
Back to this here episode, like many podcasts your humble hosts usually banter a bit before actually hitting the record button, and one of the topics in this week's Banter Session actually made it to the air, and that's the idea of watch companies turning some of their most popular models (think the Seiko Willard, the Tudor Black Bay, the Timex Q Reissue) into "platforms." These are watches that serve as a base for a million other watches that come later. The recently announced Seiko SPB237, which Nicholas loves but will retail for $1200 when it's released in June, is but one example: it's a Willard with a slightly fancier textured dial. This also prompts a discussion of whether or not Seiko has succeeded in its quest to move upmarket with its prices. Also in this week's episode: brief discussions on that Budweiser-branded G-Shock and some Dan Henry chronos.
Thanks again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.
Please be sure to visit WristWatchReview.com and @WristWatchReview on Instagram for more fun watch content. And be sure to visit anchor.fm/the-hourtime-show (or your podcast app of choice) for all past episodes. There's a bunch!

Le Podcast Du Chill
Welcome back to The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com! Apologies for missing last week, but the stars aligned and we were all busy at our usual recording time. But this week we bring the goods, including what we're pretty sure is the first semi-professional review of the new Seiko Land Tortoise, which Nicholas purchased seconds after seeing the press photos on Instagram about a month ago; he's been wearing it all week. Do we allow it? There's only one way to find out! We then move onto discussing Casio's new Hidden Coast series of G-Shocks, which we're all pretty into, and Maen's new GMT. Our last topic? What type of watch should you wear to the pool this summer—what's seaworthy? Now, the "correct" answer is the Sub, obviously, but what if you don't want to risk damaging it? You get this discussion, that's what! Once again, thank you to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode—we sound great because of Andrew! Please be sure to visit WristWatchReview.com and @WristWatchReview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

Watches in Spaaaaace
Hello and welcome to The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com! John, the patriarch of the program, is unfortunately out sick this week so that leaves it to Victor and Nicholas to steer the pod. We've got a fun one for you this week as Victor and Nicholas go deep on the watches they've been wearing over the past few days, including Nicholas's Citizen Chandler field watch slash pseudo-chrono and Victor's 36mm Explorer I. Why does Citizen produce ::checks notes:: 8 million Chandlers? The world may never know. We also touch on a handful of other subjects including Watch Spotting the black dial Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, setting your Japanese Domestic Model radio-controlled watch (like Nicholas' Citizen Independent model), and watches other than the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch that have gone to spaaaaace. Once again thank you to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode: if we sound good it's all down to Andrew! Feel free to email us at tips@wristwatchreview.com if you have any feedback, and be sure to keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and @WristWatchReview for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

Star Wars The Next Generation
Welcome back to another week of The HourTime Show! This week your pals John (wrist check: Bell & Ross BR 01-93 GMT), Victor (wrist check: Coke Bezel GMT Master), and Nicholas (wrist check: Fossil Starmaster Reissue) discuss all manner of important things including tweaking your collection after losing a bunch of weight (congrats to John by the way--I'm sure he reads this haha) and the differences between Star Wars and Star Trek. Why Star Wars? Well, Citizen's new Star Wars Rebel Pilot is actually pretty cool, which led to an extended discussion of the two universes and Citizen in general. We're big fans of Citizen, it turns out! There's also an extended discussion of Christopher Ward, brought about by its new C63 Sealander. We're sorta lukewarm on this one it seems. We also spitball some ideas on what an HourTime Show Patreon would look like: Exclusive episodes? A Discord where we can all hang out? We're open to any and all ideas, so feel free to send them our way via email at tips@wristwatchreiew.com. In any event, thank you for listening and thank you again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode. Don't forget to keep it locked to wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

Watches Have Power!
Welcome back to The HourTime Show! Well, against all odds, your pals John, Victor, and Nicholas managed to talk about the proposed European Super League while making it relevant to watches. TLDR: a bunch of big soccer teams in Europe wanted to start a brand new league, a lot of people got very angry, and now the league is kaput. One watch brand called Tribus got so upset that it pulled out of its sponsorship of Liverpool FC. Listen as we react live on the air to the brand's collection of watches. (They're... fine.) In other news, Victor is wearing an NTH BSHT, John is wearing a Bell & Ross BR V2-94, and Nicholas, erm, is wearing his Seiko Alpinist despite not knowing how to use the compass bezel (though he's looking forward to getting this JDM Prospex in a few weeks). Meanwhile, Victor wants the Seiko Star Bar and has found this really weird Royal Oak/Nautilus hybrid on Instagram. As John would say, the world is a mess. Once again, thank you for listening and thank you to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode. Be sure to visit wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on IG for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

Kids Love Taupe!
Extra, extra: John is actually on the podcast this week! Yes, John graces Victor and Nicholas with his presence to expand on our ongoing Watches and Wonders coverage. This week we discuss the Audemars Piguet x Black Panther (worn over the weekend by LeBron James) and the strategy behind these sorts of licensed pieces (don't forget that Citizen also makes Marvel watches), the new 36mm Rolex Explorer, Explorer II, and Datejust, the very fancy sport of spelunking, Tudor's taupe Black Bay 58, 18K gold with green dial Black Bay 58, and John gives us a hottttt take on two register chronos like the new Tudor Black Bay Chrono. We also spend a few minutes discussing the new Tag Heur Aquaracers (we especially like the limited edition 844) and try to figure out Tag's pricing strategy. That's a lot of watches! Thank you again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to keep it locked to wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on IG for more fun watch content. And don't forget to hit up John on Twitter @johnbiggs to talk him into, or out of, buying a Tudor Prince Date. Have a great week!

Too Many Watches
With Watches and Wonders firmly in the rearview window, Victor and Nicholas (John couldn't make it) have probably too much to get into this week. Among the topics we discuss: the new Explorer, Explorer II, and taupe Black Bay 58. Taupe! We also discuss springtime watches including Nicholas's white dial Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical, the So Labs Layer 1, Oris's new pastel-colored Divers 65s, and whether or not Victor should go ahead and buy this Maen chrono he's been eyeing. Achievement unlocked: 30 minutes of nonstop watch talk. As always, we thank you for listening and hope you visit wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. And thank you again to Andrew Hayworth for producing this week's episode. Have a great week!

Old Watches Doing Old Watch Things
Here we go! Victor and Nicholas are here this week (John was busy again with "real" work stuff unfortunately) discussing a whole host of topics including a new Wear OS-based Casio G-Shock and what's the "right" Apple Watch to buy if you're mostly interested in everyday fitness stuff (spoiler: skip the Series 6 and get the Apple Watch SE for $279), the tyranny of April Fools "jokes," the legal situation surrounding octagonal bezels and Submariner-style dials, possible upcoming releases from Rolex and Tudor, Nicholas's love of both patina AND fauxtina, and Bell & Ross's recently announced (and very snazzy in our opinion) GMT. Once again, thank you for listening, and be sure to keep it locked to wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Special thanks to Andrew Hayworth for producing this week's episode. Have a great week!

The Official Podcast of the Shrek Cinematic Universe
Hello, watch fans! First, allow us to apologize for not publishing an episode last week. Life, as they say, got in the way. But no matter: this week, John, Victor, and Nicholas are here to talk two big topics and a few smaller topics including theorizing a potential "extreme sports" version of the Apple Watch and Victor's recent deep dive into Frederique Constant's new Monolithic escapement. As always, thank you for listening, and once again thank you to Andrew Hayworth for producing this week's episode. Until next week, keep it locked to wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content!

Buttering Up The Neighborhood A.D.
This week we open the show with the biggest news of the week: J Lo and A Rod calling it quits. Well, that's how it was reported at the time the show was recorded, though now there is some ~confusion~ as to what's actually happening. Que sera sera. Victor, to his credit, did find a watch angle and pointed us in the direction of J. Lo's watches, which are perfectly acceptable fashion watches. In non-celebrity power couple news we also dive into whether or not a Rolex cares why customers want their watches, Breitling's new subscription-based service, and another controversial watch trademark story. Good stuff. This week's episode was graciously produced by longtime WristWatchReview.com fan Andrew Haworth, so if it sounds better than you're used to he's the reason! As always, thank you for listening and keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and WristWatchReview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

NFTs, Sneakers, and Watches, Oh My!
We got a wild one here, folks. Your pals John, Victor, and Nicholas are back discussing a range of topics including proving watch provenance using the blockchain, how to think about NFTs and art, what watch companies can learn from the sneaker industry, and whether or not Citizen has any business selling a $6000 watch. Are watches tools or jewelry? We have thoughts. Feel free to reach out via email at tips@wristwatchreview.com or hit us up via Instagram at @wristwatchreview. As always, thank you for listening, and keep it locked to wristwatchreview.com for more fun watch content.

Seiko, Seiko, Seiko!
Get excited! Your pals John, Victor, and Nicholas are back with energy to spare this week as they delve into the latest watch news, including Hamilton's decision to add a bracelet to the Khaki Field Mechanical, a slew of new Seikos (as well as John's skepticism toward Grand Seiko), and whether or not watch reviewers forget about everyday consumers when evaluating watches. Good stuff. Please be sure to visit WristWatchReview.com and follow our Instagram (@wristwatchreview) for more fun watch content. Thank you for listening!

Set Your Milsubs to "Stun"
The three amigos of The HourTime Show are back! This week, the gang goes in-depth on some watch industry inside baseball discussing Hodinkee's acquisition of used watch retailer Crown & Caliber and what this says about watch journalism here in 2021. Rise and grind. We also talk at length about Rolex wanting to wrest control of the "milsub" trademark from an independent watch brand in Florida. Why would Rolex want such a thing? Victor has thoughts. As always, thanks for listening and be sure to check out wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Thank you!

You Have 30 Guitars?!
John graces us with his presence this week to lead a spirited discussion of social media influencers flaunting fake watches on IG, and the brands... not really caring about it. Bonkers. It's a compelling follow-up to our story on the site from a few weeks ago on a big "rep" factory in China being raided. John also gives us an audio review of sorts of the Bulova Devil Diver that Victor and Nicholas fawned over last week, while John and Victor go on a delightful tangent on the similarities between watch geekery and guitar geekery. Boys and their toys. Please feel free to send feedback via email to tips@wristwatchreview.com or via Instagram at @wristwatchreview. Have a great week, and be sure to visit wristwatchreview.com for more fun watch content. Thanks for listening! -Nicholas

I Grew Up In A House That Had Shag Carpeting
It's just Victor and Nicholas again this week as John attends to his "real" job, whatever that is. No matter: V and N are here to discuss a handful of watches that caught our eye over the past few days including Moser's sorta-kinda Apple Watch homage, a tremendous summer diver from Bulova, and a straight-out-of-the-1970s Tissot. John would probably hate it because it's quartz but he's not here to stop us now is he? ::taps nose::
Thank you again for listening, and be sure to reach via email at tips@wristwatchreview.com or via Instagram at instagram.com/wristwatchreview (aka @wristwatchreview). Have a great week!

Hoodwinked!
John has returned after his two-week absence to wrest control of the good ship HMS HourTime, steering our discussions of DIY watchmaking and how not to ruin your watch, the New York Times's story about President Biden's Datejust, what even is "value" in this age of r/wallstreetbets and rocket ship emojis, and a couple new watches we've been wearing for review including the Vaer D5 Artic and Nordgreen Pioneer.
As always, we'd love your feedback. You can email the show at tips@wristwatchreview.com or tweet us individually: John is @johnbiggs, Victor is @vmarks, and Nicholas (who produces the show) is @nicholasadeleon. You can also find us on Instagram @wristwatchreview. Tag us and say hi!
Thank you for listening, and have a great rest of your week. -Nicholas

Building a Whole Collection for the Price of a Rolex
Welcome back to The HourTime Show! It's just Victor and Nicholas again this week (John had a scheduling conflict), but there's plenty to go over, including a very handsome new chronograph from Zenith and an affordable dive watch that's the spitting image of a Tag Heur Aquaracer. We also attempt to build respectable collections for the price of a single Rolex. And yes, we recorded this episode before Patek Philippe confirmed that it had discontinued the Nautilus Ref 5711. Lame timing for us, but we'll get to it next week. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to send your feedback via email to tips@wristwatchreview.com or @WristWatchReview on Instagram. Thanks!

The Curse of Jangly Bracelets
There's plenty to discuss as Victor and Nicholas sail HMS HourTime alone this week, including late-breaking news of a prominent replica watch factory being seized in China (we're still waiting for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get back to us), what makes the new Moser Endeavour repeater worth nearly $400,000, how to tell a "fashion watch" apart from something more substantial, and how we like our bracelets to fit. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to check out wristwatchreview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Have a great week!

Moser's New Endeavour Repeater

I'll Allow It
Episode three of The HourTime Show has arrived! This week your pals discuss whether or not to buy a Casioak (too late!), the move from the Seiko SKX to the Seiko 5KX, and just how much more Omega can milk the design of the Speedmaster. Will John allow it? There's only one way to find out! Be sure to visit wristwatchreview.com and @wrsitwatchreview for more fun watch content. Thank you for listening!

Careening Into 2021 Like a Runaway Train
Welcome to the second episode of the rebooted HourTime Show podcast! In this episode we say good riddance to 2020 and look forward to a new year filled with new watches that, fingers crossed, we'll be able to show each other in person. We also discuss our perceptions of Swiss versus Japanese watches (chiefly Seiko and Citizen), and what, exactly, constitutes "iconic" design. Be sure to visit wristwatchreview.com for more fun watch content. Thank you for listening!

We are back!
Welcome back to HourTime, a podcast for watch geeks, by watch geeks. It's been a little while since the previous episode but your intrepid hosts John Biggs and Victor Marks are back thanks to the prodding of new co-host (and relative watch noob) Nicholas De Leon. We cover a lot in this comeback episode including how John and Nicholas know each other, what got Nicholas back into watches after years of not having worn one, and why we think watches are still special. We end this episode with some fun last-minute watch and watch-adjacent gift ideas for the watch lover in your life. For more fun watch content be sure to visit wristwatchreview.com.
