One Line at a Time: Ep. 11 ft. Aniya Butler
In this episode, Shitangshu & Alex talk to Aniya Butler!
Aged just fifteen, Aniya is changing the world in a multitude of ways. In particular, among many other hats, Aniya serves as one of the lead organizers for Youth Versus Apocalypse, a climate activism group based in the Bay area in California that brings together young people to uplift the voices of people of color and stand up for environmental justice. The organization has advocated to government, mobilized peers & organized climate strikes, including one last year that involved an estimated 20-40K youth in the Bay area.
Beyond this work, Aniya is also a spoken word poet & credits poetry for being an important tool of activism & expression, especially to share the lived experience of black & brown youth in the USA. She sees poetry as an important tool for change, which inspires us to call our episode "one line at a time." One Debate at a Time: Ep. 10 ft. Sarah Van Exan & Eseohe Ojo
In this episode, Sam & Shitangshu talk to Sarah Van Exan & Eseohe Ojo from GreenPac, a Canadian non-profit environmental organization. whose goal is to help recruit, elect, and support environmental leadership in Canadian politics, across the political spectrum.
With Canada's federal elections coming up this September, GreenPac has been coordinating the "100 Debates for the Environment" intiaitive. This project has helped support local leaders in organizing 104 federal riding debates across Canada in 2019, with a goal of putting environmental issues at the top of politicians' agendas. The organization has a similar goal for 2021, with most debates happening on September 8-9, 2021.

In this episode, Sam co-hosted with Anita Lee, a mom and mentor to the I Forgot! team that was featured at the OATHE Project's 2021 Climate Changemakers Hackathon.
We interviewed Keenan Johnson in this episode! Keenan is an engineer who has worked on an incredibly diverse set of projects - most recently starting the Ribbit Network. The Ribbit Network is a low-cost, open-source greenhouse gas emissions sensor, intended to provide more data on greenhouse gas levels across the world to help climate action efforts.
