#81 The Enneagram for Pastors and Communicators with Sean Palmer

Sean Palmer is a teaching pastor, author, and speaker based in Texas. He has a Master of Divinity from Abilene Christian University and has served in various churches as a youth and family minister. In his teaching, he draws from his own experiences and uses the Enneagram to help people understand themselves and others better. Sean is the author of "40 Days of Being a Three” and “Speaking By The Numbers,” and has been featured on podcasts and in various publications. QUOTES 1. "The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that's been used by many contemplative strains and different religions.” 2. "Wisdom doesn't work by asking whether it can be traced back in history, but by whether it works and rings true to our experience.” 3. "Behavior alone doesn't reveal much about an individual's motivations; motivation tells us more.” 4. "Relying solely on stereotypes about Enneagram numbers is ignorant and does not fully capture people's individuality.” 5. "Being mindful of how others perceive things can help avoid unnecessary conflicts and promote harmony.” 6. "The Enneagram can become a weapon when used against others, but a tool when used for oneself.” 7. "Ministry involves proving wisdom through practice, not just speech.” 8. "It's better to invite diverse voices on the front end rather than on the back end when people leave due to lack of inclusion.” 9. "Valuing diverse perspectives can be achieved by pairing and inviting diverse people to help.” 10. "The Enneagram teaches that we all have three intelligence centers - thinking, feeling, and doing, and if one is wounded, we over-rely on the other two." TOPS COVERED - Stances: dependent, doing, and aggressive - Goal of entering the most childlike part of oneself - Ego strength vs. ego - Importance of multiple perspectives - Church community and accessibility - Prioritizing inclusivity over performance - Importance of motivation in ministry - The book "40 days of being a three" and Enneagram Type 3 - Harmony in communication - Individuality vs. stereotypes in Enneagram numbers - Understanding personality traits in leadership - Being mindful of others’ perceptions - The Enneagram as a tool for self-improvement - The significance of understanding intelligence centers - Valuing diverse perspectives in teams - The speaker's background and involvement in ministry - The Enneagram and its triads related to intelligence centers - Dominant feeling and thinking numbers - Dominant and repressed intelligence centers

#80 Becoming a Warrior Woman with April Diaz

#80 Becoming a Warrior Woman with April Diaz

In this podcast episode, the focus was on becoming our whole selves. The episode covered six dimensions of wholeness: physical, emotional, mental, relational, spiritual, and renewal. The importance of emotional intelligence and processing our thoughts was emphasized, as well as the value of having supportive relationships and pursuing spiritual connection. The episode also addressed gender in the workplace and domestic responsibilities, as well as the impact of hormonal cycles, sleep, nutrition, and movement on our overall wellness. The key takeaway was to acknowledge and address any tendencies to "play small" in our lives for better transformation and results.

To take your FREE wholeness profile assessment please visit our blog - www.renewedleadership.org/blog/80

https://ezerandco.com

TOPICS COVERED

1. "The Power of Emotional Intelligence for Success in Work and Relationships"

2. "Deepening Emotional Range for Wholeness"

3. "Unpacking Unconscious Beliefs: How Experiences Affect Our Mindset"

4. "Discovering the Meaning of Ezer for Women"

5. "Surrounding Yourself with Supportive People for Personal Growth"

6. "Playing Small vs. Living to Your Full Potential"

7. "Restoring Gender in the Workplace: What Companies Can Do"

8. "Prioritizing Wellness: The Six Dimensions of Wholeness"

9. "Maximizing Physical Health: Sleep, Food, and Movement for Wholeness"

Quotes "No one wins when we play small, man or woman." "What if it's easy?" "Wholeness is not a goal, it's not a destination, it's not something that we ever arrive at. Wholeness is really a lifelong journey. “ "Our bodies have been created to heal and to repair themselves and to function at their highest level. “ "The five people who are closest to you will determine your life. “ "Transformation happens Better Together. We belong together and we belong to one another. “ "I think self-care is pretty surfacey. It's like bubble baths and pedicures and reading by the pool, and I just think that that is a really bandaid approach to a much deeper need that we have, which is to have fully energized lives that don't move us toward burnout. “ "Renewal is the way to avoid burnout and increase energy, but we have to lead ourselves into that.“ "Pay for women to get some coaching, get some therapy, you know, get some time at a conference so that they can actually expand.“

We also hear stories about how God's plan can have specific and precise details. In addition to sharing stories, Marty Darracott explains the importance of carving out time alone with God to be still and listen. We also hear about how leaders and pastors sometimes make the mistake of using other people's sermons or worship services as their quiet time. Finally, Marty Darracott shares his own journey of faith and how he became an executive pastor at a church that has been in revival for over five years, baptizing over 31,000 people and witnessing incredible testimonies of healing, deliverance, and restoration.

"Dialing into God's voice is like tuning an old radio, where you have to turn the dial back and forth to find the clear signal and stay tuned in to hear Him clearly.”

"God still speaks to us today and expects us to echo heaven by being obedient and taking risks.”

"Leaders and pastors sometimes make the mistake of using other people's sermons or worship services as their quiet time instead of carving out time alone with God.”

#50: Overcoming Sexual Addiction - Blaine Bartel

In todays conversation with talk with Blaine Bartel about his new book, "Death By a Thousand Lies."

About Blaine -

For the past several years, Blaine Bartel, with the support of his wife Lori, has been actively coaching men who are struggling with porn and sexual brokenness. He has discovered a gift of grace to help these friends do the work of resurrection and reinvent a life previously unimagined.

You may be aware of some of Blaine’s accomplishments.

He hosted a national television show for more than a decade.

He went on to become a best selling author.

He led the largest weekly student gathering in America.

This is what the public knew about Blaine.

What they didn’t know is that Blaine hated who he had become. Behind the curtains of his success was a man who was overcome by an unbreakable sexual addiction, severe clinical depression and marital brokenness. Ten years ago, he walked away from everything he had built and accomplished in an attempt to try to discover a life that was worth living.

After a desperate attempt to end his life, he was placed in an addiction recovery center in Phoenix, Arizona for 30 days. After hearing Blaine’s story, Dr. Ralph Earle, one of the nations leading sexual addiction specialists, told Blaine, “You are the poster child for sexual addiction. I honestly don’t know if you will ever get free.”

This was the beginning of a radical life transformation that would demand all Blaine had to give in order to fully encounter the resurrected life. Today if you ask Blaine what his greatest achievement is, he will share this extraordinary ten year drama of the dusty, winding road up the mountain of recovery.

Blaine and Lori reside in Tulsa, Oklahoma, love hanging out with family and friends and have a weakness for reality shows. Along with his speaking and coaching, Blaine is a writer and has recently released a brand new book entitled, “Death by a Thousand Lies.”

#39: Bobby Gourley - Meeting the Needs of Your Community during COVID-19

#39: Bobby Gourley - Meeting the Needs of Your Community during COVID-19

In August of 2014, Chapel called Pastor Bobby, his wife, Toyia, and their four children to Florence, Alabama, to be their lead pastor. They moved from Nashville, TN, and left their home church, Cornerstone Nashville, to plant roots in the Shoals.

Pastor Bobby was a self-described atheist filled with bitterness, anger, and doubt. Bobby tried to fill the pain in his heart through lust, drugs, and alcohol always looking for the truth in the world. During his search for truth, Jesus found him and revealed His truth to Bobby. Pastor Bobby experienced God’s amazing grace, and you can watch his incredible story here: Bobby’s Testimony.

Since that day, Bobby has had a passion and commitment to connecting with people who question God and His existence and help them see God’s love, truth, and grace. Pastor Bobby’s desire is to engage people where they are, make disciples, and raise up leaders who will change the world.

Pastor Bobby is an innovative leader and an incredible preacher. He believes that Chapel should be the most empowering place in the world and strives to equip and empower people to be everything God has called them to be. He has a unique preaching style that makes the deep truths of the Bible relevant, simple, and applicable. He preaches with energy, humor, and power. He also uses visual techniques to illustrate biblical truths and demonstrate the beauty of the gospel.

#35 - Rich Franzen - When Helping Helps - The Church and its View of Missions

#35 - Rich Franzen - When Helping Helps - The Church and its View of Missions

After the raise of the book and Netflix documentary "When Helping Hurts" many people have been left wondering if short-term missions efforts cause more harm than good. In today's conversation with Rich Franzen we talk about how short-term missions are the lifeblood of overseas missions work.

About Rich: Michelle Franzen began their missions journey when they both embarked on their first short-term mission trips in their late teens. With hearts wrecked for the nations, they continued to pursue the Lord’s calling as they finished studying at Oral Roberts University in 1993; Rich graduated with a BS in Education and minor in counseling, and Michelle with a BS in Education.  Eager to inspire the next generation with the life-altering call to missions, Rich and Michelle spent the next 13 years working with Teen Mania Ministries as they organized Acquire the Fire youth  conferences for thousands of teens, and simultaneously began to train, recruit, and send thousands of young adults and leaders to over 25 countries throughout the globe.

Through their international travel, a yearning emerged in their hearts for Africa; a plagued continent with 68% of the world’s  HIV/AIDS population. As a result, they moved their family to South Africa in 2004, and established Impact Africa – a non-profit  organization whose mission is to serve, educate, and rescue individuals while provoking them toward a passionate relationship with  Jesus Christ through socially relevant outlets of ministry service; which in turn deeply impact individuals, communities, and nations.  Impact Africa is a South African Section 21 company with an additional U.S.-based office registered as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit.

Since Impact Africa was founded, they have begun multiple self-sustaining, job-creating preschools through Impact Kids. They operate in 4 different locations with 429+ children and teachers being fed daily (4,290+ meals a week!) as they receive high-quality education. They also founded Impact Baby Rescue, which reaches out to desperate mothers through awareness presentations, crisis pregnancy counseling, and rescuing abandoned babies. These precious babies receive life-long family care in our Baby Home until the point of adoption into their forever family! Rich and Michelle have hosted thousands of international individuals/teams through Impact Mission Adventures. Each participant receives high-quality evangelical training and experience during their time with Impact Africa. The  Franzen’s also launched Impact Students, where they educate high school students on the effects of drug/alcohol abuse, premarital sex, abortion, and other relevant issues, while also having the opportunity to respond to the Gospel! Rich and Michelle founded and facilitate Impact Africa’s gap year program; The Missions Experience Program. This is a 3, 6, or 12-month on-the-field missions experience that exists to train and equip young adults to pursue the Great Commission no matter where they are or what they do.

Rich and Michelle are frequent speakers at conferences, churches, and training events world-wide. Rich is on the Board of Directors of the Co-Lab Foundation; a non-profit organization which connects like-minded businesses, churches, and people with projects around  Johannesburg. Additionally, Rich serves as a Board Member and VP of a U.S.-based mission sending agency, Launch International.
