Wide open spaces.
If the Chicks have taught us anything through their musical musings it's that such spaces are pretty neat. Or maybe terrible? Honestly I couldn't tell you any other lyrics to that particular song.
But in any case, where else on this planet can you find more spaces of a wide open nature than the open ocean? I struggle to think of any. I personally find the open ocean utterly terrifying, but maybe sailor's dig it? At least most of it...

This is the famous philosophical quandary posed by the almighty burger sorceress known only as Wendy. And how to answer such a weighty question? Unfortunately I can't tell you. I can tell you where a very small percentage of the beef is though. It's lying dead in a field after being mutilated under mysterious circumstances.

The satirical, US based news outlet The Onion reused an article over 20 times since 2014, making only slight changes to the dates and location. It sounds like lazy journalism (and trust me, I would know) until you see the headline "'No Way To Prevent This,' Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens" with a picture of a school, place of worship or a grocery store. If you're American, that context alone was likely enough to figure out that this article is about mass shootings.

Sorry about the late update this week! Apparently even bi-weekly uploads is too much for us slouches at Sheeple HQ. I could blame it on the substantial (for us) amount of snow we got in our neck of the woods. Boy am I glad I don't actually live in the woods when it snows a lot. How would I even walk around to get anywhere? Why, I'd have to be 7-8 feet tall, covered in hair and have humongous feet! Then some guy catch a glimpse of me strolling in naught but my fur and start yacking. Before I knew it I'd become an urban legend and a bunch of goofballs would start running around at night in the woods shouting. How would I get my big, hairy beauty sleep?

Is there any state in the Union convinced of it's own importance quite as much as Texas? I'd argue no where else in the US, potentially the world, that has as much regional pride. And there's admittedly a lot to like. The BBQ, the hats, the boots, the accents. Does anyone else enjoy a good courtroom drama? We can all remember certain moments from those shows and movies where the plucky protagonist seems to be on the ropes, their case is falling apart and it seems they're a few minutes from losing all together. Then suddenly, in a stroke of brilliance, BOOM! They think of the perfect argument that strengthens their case and catches the opponent in a lie. HOORAY!!!
Wouldn't it be cool if you could manage something like that? Even cooler if you could pull the wool over on the entire US government, invalidating it completely...

Imagine this, you're casually strolling along in the Artic Circle (all the cool kids are doing it) surrounded by snow and ice. You're a bit distracted trying to post the selfie you just took with an iceberg. Typing a witty yet relatable caption in the massive gloves needed to stave of frostbite is a challenge. You look up just after deciding on "The Titanic shot first" and are amazed to see a gaping hole in front of you. It must be miles wide. You peer over the edge and see.............well, it depends who you ask.

For our maiden voyage we're covering a blast from the past. A blast from 1918 to be specific. The Spanish Flu was the worst influenza pandemic of the 20th century killing an estimated 50,000,000 people worldwide. 100 years later I'm sure we've learned a lot and don't fall for the same silly ideas people back then did right? *Sigh*
