Grad school leads a student out West

Samantha Stamm, an agricultural business major with an animal science track at Morehead State, is set to graduate early. In high school, Stamm took advantage of the dual credit classes her school offered. It was not until she talked with her advisor in the fall of 2020 that she discovered how far ahead she was in credit hours.

Potter finds her path 2,000 miles away

Kendall Potter, a traditional music studies senior at Morehead State, has been fascinated with the great outdoors since an early age. After visiting Glacier National Park in Montana on a family road trip she knew she wanted to be a member of the park services.

Although she was almost 2,000 miles away from Morehead. She was able to bring a small piece of home with her– her banjo.

Identity through fiddle

An Appalachian native finds her own identity through her fiddle.

Hayley King continues to connect with her passions, goals and roots through a double major in traditional music and Spanish at Morehead State University.

“I consider both languages and music as an art,” said King, a Ridgeway, South Carolina native. “I feel like at the root of it all, language and music are both means of self-expression, and in my case the way I express my emotions is through fiddle music.”
