I know, I know, I did promise to speak about how to navigate in our mental body this week.

How to empower ourselves in the midst of the labyrinth of thoughts and narratives that seem to want our attention, however, it will have to wait till episode 197 because this morning something happened.

There I was having a delightful breakfast with a dear friend and Toby when out came the missile. Out of nowhere she felt the need to share a little piece of her wisdom. She wanted to enlighten me about something she could see, it was all about me. 

At first, it felt bad, I didn’t like it and I could feel my whole body tense up. I mean really tense up and then my mouth opened and I began to defend myself. Up went the RED flag. What was I afraid of?

Suddenly, I began to relax. My body, my mind and my heart just opened. I listened and asked her to go on.

Honestly, it felt like a kick in the guts, hence the title of this episode. However, I will let you in on a secret. I enjoy friendships where feedback is shared, where I can learn a little more about how others see me. It’s not always comfortable but it allows me to exercise discernment but most importantly all the incredible access it gives me to my own superpowers.

There isn’t much a salon owner who works 24/7 growing their flourishing business fears more than a bad review...

Nobody, and I mean nobody, ever feels good about bad reviews. They are often feared and secretly we hope we never have to deal with a bad review. A client not only being unhappy, even though we have done our best, but also writing about it; sharing it with the world.

I can feel the loud thumping of your heart from here…

However, what about writing bad reviews even when we truly think they need to be shared. Is there a true and meaningful way to own our experience and share it with the world?

I believe our industry depends on it.

We promised, now it's time to deliver...

This week I want you to step away with me from all that is happening with the current world events, and join myself and Toby for a belly laugh.

Growing up in a conservative Greek family, then stepping into the treatment room and experiencing this new level of intimacy with people offered me the valuable opportunity to learn how to contain myself, in the MOST unbelievable circumstances. Believe me when I say this... You will hear all about it shortly.

Not even Harvard University teaches this kind of development... Let alone beauty college.

Embarrassment is a daily part of a beauty professionals life.  Naked bodies, bad smells, awkward blushing clients, they're all part of our daily work.

So, pour yourself a glass of wine, get comfortable and prepare as I share with you some of my most memorable moments from my time behind the chair and my childhood.

Laughter is good for the soul.

It seems strange to speak about business right now when the entire world is topsy turvy and I don't want to pretend as though it isn't.

Copycats, those that choose to take rather than create, have powerful justifications. They justify their behaviour and find others that think just like them to be their supporters.

As entrepreneurs, we live among these types of people and we must thrive in spite of it all.
