We take a look at what that means in the context of the believer's relationship with sin and sanctification.

Chapter 1 of the book of Colossians ties together all of the deep theological truths about Jesus into a dynamic practical application about what the church should be in light of Who Jesus is.

We continue our study through Colossians looking at a theologically rich portion of Scripture. Verses 14 through 22 declare Jesus as preeminent, not just prominent, and details in no uncertain terms Who Jesus is. Jesus is God, He is Redeemer, He is Sustainer, and He is the Head of the Church. With all of this in mind, we also discuss what that means for us, and what we should do with this look at the glory and deity of Christ. Jesus doesn’t just want to be first on a list of what’s important. He should be the list!

Wreck-It Ralph and Disney+ also make appearances as we discuss exactly what Ralph meant by “No cuts, no buts, no coconuts.”

Ever wonder how people lived so long before the flood in the book of Genesis? We answer a listener question about that exact topic in this Chips & Salsa minisode. In a ten-minute time restriction, Curtis and Kreig go over two of the most popular theories and give you an idea of which one seems the most legit to them.

Merry Christmas to our listeners! Inspired by a popular TruTV show, Curt & Kreig set out to ruin what you think you know about Christmas. Buckle up because we’re headed into the unknown with these myths and misconceptions! We also break down the Star Wars Holiday Special, The Muppets Christmas Carol, and many of your favorite Christmas songs.

In spite of a number of audio glitches and internet issues, we finally got this episode published!

We conclude our study in the book of Titus with chapter 3, and a focus on how to live as godly believers in an increasingly ungodly culture. The competing thoughts in Cretian churches at this time were to either run from culture or embrace it. Paul encouraged Titus to teach them to meet the culture head on as a shining light of what the Gospel really can do in a person’s life. From kindness, to humility in light of our pre-salvation lives, Paul covers many aspects of living in such a faithless world.

Spoilers for the first two episodes of The Mandalorian are also discussed, along with Disney+ as a whole. We also wax eloquent on the finer points of pico de gallo.

Venture into the bizarre with us as we divulge in some meaningless humor. Kreig quizzes Curt on which people from the Bible would be best in a zombie apocalypse scenario. Our silly minisode also takes us down memory lane with our old YouTube days. Plus, we discuss which fictional characters remind us the most of good old Samson.

After some technical mishaps, Curt & Kreig finally wrap up chapter two of Titus talking about verses 11-15. This section is really the climax of the chapter, and underlines how the Gospel is the reason why any of the do’s and don’t’s in the Bible have any bearing at all. These verses also give us an excellent look at the threefold reality of our salvation: justification, sanctification, and glorification.

Curt also gets up to his old bonnet-wearing antics, and Kreig dishes about the best starter Pokemon.

Pastor Curtis King joins us again for a hotseat round in our Chips and Salsa Minisode. This week, we ask Pastor King who his favorite person in the Bible is. The answer surprised us and led to a deep and emotional survey of the life of Jeremiah. Suffering is a part of life, and Jeremiah received more than most of that lot. Pastor King detailed what we can learn about perceived failure, a desire to succeed, and the facts of suffering from this important prophet.

Curt & Kreig were privileged to have Curt’s dad Pastor Curtis King with us for this special topical episode. Pastor King joined us in studying how the Gospel is presented throughout the book of Titus. We often think of Titus as mostly an instructional book geared primarily to a church leader, but the entire basis of Paul’s letter to Titus hinges on the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, each chapter has something unique and powerful to say in relation to the Gospel.

Our guest co-host from last week agreed to get in the hot seat for our timed minisode. We asked Nathan what his life verse was and why, and he walked us through a meaningful look at a fantastic verse from Psalms. Being a children’s pastor, he’s a quick talker and quick thinker, so he breezed right through the question with plenty of time to spare, so we spent the remaining time talking about Psalms as a whole.

We also dove into the theological importance (or lack thereof) of beards. Nathan also peeled back the curtain to reveal the dark side of Curtis that comes out during family Monopoly games.

Our marathon recording session in Titus 2:1-10 concludes with this look at verses 5-10. While God has a lot to say to the older generations in the church, he also has quite a list of Spirit-empowered traits for the younger believers to embody. From the role of wife, husband, or even just employee, God wants his people to glorify Him in their place in life. While modern society downplays the differences between men and women as sexism, the Bible elevates women and men in their different but equally important roles in the home. He also has eye on those who society would deem to be at the bottom of the ladder of success, noting that they, too, are a valuable part of His church.

Titus 2 is rich with instruction, but it’s all wrapped in the understanding that Jesus is the only One Who can give us the ability to perform that which He’s set before us to do. For His glory, with His help, we can live a life that leads others to Him.

Our Chips and Salsa Episodes are opportunities for Curtis and Kreig to answer questions on the fly, with a 10-minute timer constraint keeping them on topic. This week, Curt asks Kreig what his favorite person in the Bible is (other than Jesus). Kreig’s answer ends up being a bit atypical, and he explains why this rock-steady person is so important to him spiritually.

Curtis and Kreig also compare Moses to Batman. They also spend a few minutes bemoaning the current state of Spider-Man as he has (for now) been pulled out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Sony.

After quite a long break, we’re back in the book of Titus, looking at chapter two.

Chapter 2 moves from instruction for Titus to the instruction Titus should be reinforcing to the churches. Paul has instruction for every demographic in the church, and he starts off with the older believers. Those who are mature in age and in the faith are intended to set the tone and lead the way for the younger generations, but that wasn’t happening in Crete.

This recording session ran so full of content that we had to break it into two episodes, so this represents the first 30-minute block of recording from that. In the first few verse of the chapter, we see the specific charge to the elders (in age) at the Cretian churches.

A bonus chips and salsa this week as Kreig asks Curt what verse has had the biggest impact on his Christian walk. Curtis dives into a short breakdown on 1 Corinthians 10:31 and what it really means to glorify God.

To wrap it up, Curtis and Kreig reminisce about how a temp job in college connects them to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Titus chapter one is all about leadership. Paul encouraged Titus to continue being a godly leader, he instructed him on how to appoint qualified leaders, and he warned him about destructive leaders. All was not well on the island of Crete, and Titus had a lot of work to do. As the book as a whole will describe, chapter one introduces the idea that a Spirit-filled believer is one that does the work of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Curt and Kreig also dish about Pixar and what the opposite of a “shameless plug” would actually be called.
