Master Your Mindset to Optimize Your Performance
"Mind over matter" is a phrase that many of us have heard at various times. This phrase is usually in reference to utilizing our minds to self-regulate in moments when situations or events seem out of our control. Our minds have the innate ability to drive us to achieve amazing things, while at the same time being an unrelenting critic that can bring our progression to a screeching halt.
Helping her clients to master their mindset to perform at the highest level is the calling of my guest, Elizabeth Louis. She specializes in performance, trauma, & crisis therapy, group psychoeducation, and mental health coaching. Having gone through therapy herself to overcome traumatic experiences in her life, she gets it. She leverages neuropsychology but walks along that path with you as therapy is so much more than what happens for a shorter time period in a room. She also hosts mental health boot camps, online courses, a mental health podcast, a blog, and so much more to help you become the best possible while making the impossible possible.

Teen Brewer to Sochu Expert
Beer, wine, whiskey, bourbon, vodka, rum, tequila, and gin represent most of the traditional alcohol consumed in this country, either straight or as a key ingredient in our favorite cocktail. However, there is a whole other spirits category that is Japan's greatest secret. It is not sake, but rather an incredibly diverse spirit named sochu. On this episode I speak with Christopher Pellegrini, who started out brewing American beer in Vermont and now lives in Japan where his mission is to pull back the curtain on this type of spirit - for the world's enjoyment!
Christopher Pellegrini cut his teeth in alcohol as a teen brewer at Otter Creek Brewing Company in Middlebury, Vermont. He discovered shochu and awamori after moving to Tokyo while he was a full-time professor at Waseda University. In 2014, he published the first ever English language guide to shochu and awamori, The Shochu Handbook. He also contributed to The Oxford Companion to Spirits & Cocktails, published in 2021. Christopher launched Honkaku Spirits in March 2020 (great timing, huh?) with the mission of bringing intensely artisanal Japanese spirits to discerning consumers worldwide. He also co-hosts two podcasts focused on the education of Japanese spirits: Japan Distilled and Sake on Air. Fluent in English and Japanese (conversational in Spanish and Korean), Christopher’s contribution to increasing global knowledge of Japanese spirits continues to shape opinion on this burgeoning category.

Take Messy Action and Create What You Have Always Wanted
When I grow up, I am going to be.....or do..... Do you remember saying that when you were younger? Do you remember what those dreams were? And maybe life has moved in fast motion as you took care of what you needed to. But what if you could still do what you wanted to do, but are scared or stuck?
My next guest, Kelsey Knutson, was that person until she got unstuck and started taking messy action. Now she helps others do the same. The 9-5 life just wasn’t for her, so she started a business…and struggled to figure out what was for her. She has worked in many industries and has launched multiple businesses. But most importantly, she's constantly reassessing her “why” and using that as a guiding force in how she makes decisions.
Now she helps her clients pursue their passions as well!

Live Your Way Thin
There are many weight loss experts in the fitness industry but when it comes to sustainable weight loss, you will be hard pressed to find anyone who knows more about the subject and how to achieve it than my latest guest, Stavros Mastrogiannis, does.
Stavros is a 29-year veteran of the weight loss field and the founder of Live Your Way Thin System. As a Sustainable Weight Loss Coach, Stavros uses an unconventional approach to weight loss that helps people lose weight for life by reconnecting them to 5 ancient habits that most modern societies have forgotten. His upbringing on a Greek island, where thin and healthy was the norm and people in their 90s lived productive lives, gave him a unique life experience and gave him an insight on a healthy lifestyle that very few weight loss experts have.
I had a great conversation with him and I think you will enjoy it as well!

Financial Sustainability
This week I had the privilege of speaking with Myles Wakeham, as we discuss achieving financial independence and sustainability. Myles shares a typical set of steadfast perspectives on life and how to overcome terrible points. The goal of the financial aspect is to reach the point where income surpasses expenses to become financially sustainable. But you need to start down that road to arrive. So, Myles's advice is to go out there and give it a shot.
Here's a breakdown of what to expect in this episode:
• Growing up in a "free-range" lifestyle.
• Borders are not natural. They're artificial.
• What are the opportunities that you can start building?
• Life is a struggle. Some cultures are better at dealing with effort than we are.
• The difference between investing and speculating
• And so much more!
About Myles:
beUnconstrained.com is the story of Myles Wakeham, a contrarian, an immigrant, and someone who questioned the social mantra from childhood. His stories, his discoveries, and results are fascinating. How to Support When Cancer Strikes
Cancer has touched all of us in some way - but most of us don't know what to say or how to be there for the person.
I spoke with Kim Hamer who is working to support those that support those with cancer - either personally or professionally.
After the death of her husband, Kim, an HR leader, noticed that managers received no guidance when navigating cancer or death on their teams. She saw how their lack of helpful tools and guidance was costly. It negatively affected employee engagement, increased turnover rates, and lowered productivity.
She set out to change that. Combining her personal experience with her professional knowledge and leadership skills, Kim launched 100 Acts of Love, a consultancy that provides tools to help leaders increase team productivity, trust, and engagement when cancer affects the whole team member.
She is the author of 100 Acts of Love: A Girlfriend's Guide to Loving Your Friend through Cancer or Loss, an easy-to-read book filled with 100 practical, quick, and effective ways to support an employee, friend, or coworker. She's an HR consultant and sought-after public speaker who lives in Los Angeles, where she tries not to bother her relatively well-behaved college-aged children.

The Ultraman's Guide to Health & Wellness
You will enjoy this episode, I guarantee it. It is a story of health and wellness from a true expert in the field, but it is also a story of survival and defying the odds from a horrific accident that happened to this Ultraman.
I had the honor of speaking with Scott McDermott, Personal Trainer, Coach, Ultra Endurance Athlete and Speaker who loves to inspire and coach people to reach their full potential in spite of massive obstacles.
He has been in the health and nutrition space for over 20 years so we had lots to talk about regarding that important topic, but the last part of the interview is worth the wait as Scott details his horrific injury that he suffered while racing in the bike portion of the Ultraman World Championships in 2015. His story about perseverance during his 3 year recovery to not only live his life again, but to get back to the Ultraman World Championships, is truly inspiring.
His accident, road to recovery and his return to the Ultraman race is chronicled in an award-winning documentary on YouTube entitled "The Warrior Code" (https://youtu.be/dwANynO24eA).

Make the Leap and Tell Your Story!
All of us have a story to tell and lessons to share based on those stories. But many of us hesitate to tell our stories due to a feeling that no one will want to hear it. But that is the beauty of well-told stories that have a lesson - they are all going to resonate with someone.
On this episode, I speak with Michael Harris - best-selling author of "Falling Down Getting Up" - which tells his story of dealing with a catastrophic injury and the subsequent years of struggling with his overall health, addiction and low self-esteem. Not only is his story powerful, but it also was a springboard to his purpose to help everyone tell their story. To achieve that goal, Michael co-founded the free group "Endless Stages" which is designed for entrepreneurs, authors, speakers and experts to quickly get their message to their audience and the world.

Bringing Meditation to Life
Most of us have heard about and possibly experienced the benefits of meditation. And some of us do some type of breathing, mindfulness or other similar activity to meditation because we all know that there are benefits. But sometimes we put to much pressure on ourselves and think about how much more we should do it and then we don't.
I spoke with Neil McKinlay, who is all about making meditation a part of your normal life, even if it is one minute per day. He has spent more than twenty-five years immersed in the practice of meditation. This span includes leading events of 100+ people both in-person and online. Through this time, he has also been a parent and partner, a teacher, author and competitive swim coach. He learned through all this the importance of linking practice with the stuff of everyday life.
It was a great discussion and really helped me to see how even practicing mindfulness or being present for even a very short period of time creates benefits that help you in all areas of life.

Septemics - Hierarchies of Human Phenomena
What if you had the tools or the playbook to accurately analyze, assess, predict and manage the behaviors and characteristics of groups and individuals? Think of what that would mean for you as person? As a leader?

Digital Strategy & Literacy
Matt Bailey, Digital Marketing Expert, talks about how most people do not understand how to use search analytics. He offers some guidance on good digital strategies. He also discusses the nature of social media and why it is critical to have something that you own to take control of your digital marketing. Finally, he talks about educating ourselves and others about social media.
Highlights
Matt studied Journalism in college.
After his degree he started as a sports reporter and after a short time realized he did not want to work in journalism.
He then pivoted to real estate where he began building websites.
Matt discovered that his journalism background helped him with layouts, headlines, titles, and other web-based marketing strategies.
He learned early how to get search rankings and also learned analytics.
If Matt was starting a business today the first thing, he would do is join a networking group, integrate into that community, and start building a database of prospects and contacts.
He would quickly get a basic web page up saying what eh does. Nothing too fancy.
Next, he would be sure that his business listings were available on Google, Bing, etc. so that he could be found.
When it comes to social media growth, start by building something that is yours and that you have complete control of.
Most people do not understand how to use Google analytics. You need to have specific business questions to answer for analytics to be helpful.
Once you understand how to read the data you can begin to analyze why some content isn’t doing as well and adjust.
When it comes to influencers you should be looking for the person with an audience that fits your needs and not just the largest audience.
Matt’s book, Teach New Dogs Old Tricks, helps people understand how the basics of sales can help lay a foundation for digital strategies.
Begin with the attitude that everything in social media is fake.
Social media companies are not audited by third parties and frequently make claims about data and the user base that is sketchy.
It is important to educate kids about the nature of social media and how it can negatively impact their views of the world.
Most children do not know how to navigate the social media and online news world. Many adults have a child-like understanding as well.
Matt’s site has training to learn digital marketing.
