Out in the modern world, no matter how much we want to help others, we are distracted from the service mindset by the desire to be financially and emotionally stable and secure. If you are lost and disconnected, then service will feel cumbersome and less fulfilling. But when is the time right to serve? Will it ever be right?

Tolerance and Forgiveness
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. It’s utter rubbish; this can’t be further from the truth. Words are weapons that cause emotional violence. They can leave invisible scars that can take years to heal. Making the shift from anger to forgiveness really does help. Obviously, this doesn’t apply in every situation, especially those of social justice. But, in our personal interactions, for the most part, it is the way to go...

Detachment: The Essence of Karma Yoga
No one has been able to pinpoint the exact causes of stress in the lives of people. We know that they will differ from person to person. If we wish to truly be free of stress, we need to look at its root cause, that is, the flawed mentality that leads to it in the first place. And so, the first step in the art of detachment is to try and understand the origin of stress.
