Joining us from Austin, Texas, Jake Gorgol is our latest guest. Jake works for OutScout who are part of the JCW Group, and the business describes itself as a "technology talent matching platform".
The great thing about this conversation is that this is not an add-on the existing recruitment and staffing services, it's a dedicated business trying to do things differently (but still retaining the human element).
Jake's marketing background is a product one having previously worked at Abercrombie & Fitch and we dive into how his experiences there have guided his approach in the staffing world. He is also being given the time to build out the long-term marketing assets that will pay dividends down the line, something we can all relate to.

After a little podcast siesta (or maybe a hibernation?), we are back with Amity Watts from Cubed Talent joining us having recently started a new role. Ben Leeson from the rec hub kicks off season ten of The Lonely Marketer talking all things brand. In a world where we are obsessed with metrics and ROI, Ben and the other founders of the rec hub are well and genuinely brand-led and believe everything else will take care of itself.
It was great to hear from Ben's brand background and how this is translating to the world of talent. If us marketers can be trusted with the brand and see the long-term value in tandem with what we need to do in the short term then we're going to be in a blinking good place.

Ep 107 I Just do it. Rowena Wilding from The Boden Group.
We had to remove the obvious expletive from the title here but there is not a better descriptor of a common theme throughout Rowena Wilding's episode. Rowena's background has given her wealth of experiences, both personal and professional that has shaped the way she works in marketing.
Coming into a new business, Rowena went on a mission to shift company tone of voices and how individuals communicated. Weekly workshops, a few carrots, a couple of sticks and a lot of championing success made it work.
If there's ever a demonstration of taking a bull by the horns, Rowena's approach is it. From introducing a story-telling approach, putting account-based marketing on a pedestal and trying and failing a lot it, this is how we move recruitment marketing forward.
We also speak openly about a topic close to Rowena's heart and something we can all be better at. As a queer woman, Rowena says that we should all be doing more about our diversity, inclusion and equity efforts and why it really matters at a human level.

Copywriting in recruitment marketing. Quite niche. Luca Rosi joins us in what is a really practical episode dissecting plenty of elements of content including raising the profile of your consultants and brand through sector-specific content, the importance of repurposing content and why copywriting is not something you can "just do".
Luca is extremely passionate and we agreed and disagreed on a couple of things whilst having a fair bit of fun. We recorded this episode with her six months into her new role and cover overcoming imposter syndrome and how it's completely normal to experience these feelings.

From getting seven-figure funding from day one, through to onboarding 123 graduates in a single day, Chelcie Harry tells us. With two years of recruitment marketing experience under her belt, Chelcie joined The Levin Group (which includes Storm2, Storm3 and Storm4) during the Covid pandemic in August 2020 as employee number 13 and was thrown into the deep end. When Covid hit, many recruitment businesses were scrambling around trying to cut costs and job boards would have been one of the first things looked at. As we now enter a period of stability (fingers crossed), we can be more scientific in our approach to the use of job boards. There is tech, processes and wider industry changes that can help you get more bang for your buck.
