Lessons are learned and breakthroughs are had. All of this happens under the dark clouds that are the Constable's plans to destroy three prime material planes, and their homes.

The party finds their time in Nymora very reminiscent of their time in Granz City just after their defeat of Strahd. There is a lot of planning for the next stages. There are a lot of revelries. Some pranks and lots of drinking that was involved. The party split up and while half go shopping for ways to improve Shanks’ elven speed, the other half looks to acquire an airship for their trip to help their ally, Quon. During this time the group is reminded of just how much Hoshino doesn’t know and adds more to their list of things to tell him at a later time. They meet with Aura back on the cruise ship to kill some time, have some drinks, and make plans for the evening to see Nymora’s nightlife scene. Shanks and Salix acquired materials for their creations and some information from Torbera about the incursion that happened. There's so much happening and that's where we pick up…

Collateral Damage - C1E105 Shops and Airships
Upon the return to Nymora, the group picks up a tail. A mysterious figure approaches them and relays some pertinent information to the party, a human woman who informs the party that JM is safe and running with a slightly different company. They will reconvene at another time. Galahad and Shanks have a drinking contest that ends with Galahad as the victor and Hoshino with a great tale to tell. Zechs contacts Argo with the help of Glad who tells him that he said “not to worry and everything is fine” which immediately has him worried and knows full well that everything, in fact, is not fine. With Glad’s help again he speaks to Natasha, Argo’s second in command, and learns that Argo is en route to talk some sense into his friend and brother-in-arms, Antonius. Zechs informs a very buzzed Galahad and they discuss what this could mean for their mentors, and for the path that lies ahead for everyone. We finish with Galahad getting some clarity on a number of things from Bahamut. It’s a troublesome road ahead but at least they’ll have each other. Right?

In the northwestern part of the island cluster of Iwi, sits the Mechfall Enclave. Consisting of eight separate islands, the largest is Mechfall, and sitting on its east coast is the city of Gamsby. Originally settled by Dwarves and Gnomes, they built their forges and workshops within the small row of mountains. Due to constant war on the larger islands, many refugees flocked to the islands to seek sanctuary. The reaction from the existing community was rather utilitarian, “you’re welcome here, what do you bring to the table?”
In the fourth episode of Across the Planes, Tom, Law (Zechs), and Joe (Arguile) discuss and come up with the lore surrounding Gamsby, Mechfall. Over the course of the conversation, they discuss the culture, religion, industry, and overall vibe of the Artisan Metropolis.

Collateral Damage - C1 Arc 7 The Curse of Strahd
As they still deal with the aftermath of the “Rig Situation” the party makes the final steps of this arc. They successfully get Kasimir what he needs from the Amber Temples, but there is immense doubt amongst the party as to whether this will help or hinder their overall plan. Kyver reveals that he made a deal with Orcus, and Arguile then reveals that he has been given a gift from someone called Elrin. Tensions are thick in the air and a frustrated Zechs goes to his room to find a mysterious doorway has appeared in his room. Not only does he end up in the feywild, in the presence of King Oberon himself, but is given back his memories in full. This concerns the Journeyman for several reasons that she mentions to Galahad. Eventually, they finally make their way toward the Order of the Silver Dragon. Here, the party encounters many deadly enemies as well as memories most have forgotten. Particularly Galahad about his first meeting with his mentor Antonius. Which, hearing the name, Glad brings up her late husband who was Antonius’ best friend and, to her, the cause of his death. After a lengthy discussion, the group tables further talk until after they retrieve the sun sword. The owner of this sword, Vladimir Horngaard, and his men will not give it easily, and through this conflict, a few party members are told that in one day, would have revenant on their tails. Less they return a vital item to the Order. With energy drained, and night quickly approaching, they make haste towards Vallaki as they can hear the howls of wolves quickly approaching. Thankfully, the wolves are in alignment with them and hate Strahd, potentially proving to be allies. While rest is needed, Vallaki proves to keep the party quite busy. Will they ever find their way out of Barovia? Will they ever rid this land of the Curse of Strahd?

We pick back up with the party returning to Nymora. The signs of the incursion are nowhere to be found and Zechs’ parents unpacking their things as they’ve just returned as well. With a piece of the root of the Heartwood Galahad makes haste as he will be without his armor for some time and needs to make arrangements. Hoshino recalls his time in Nymora several ages ago and tries to gather some information on an old friend of his, Ice on the Lake. Zechs and Salix decide to look up some family history as well, while the rest of the party chooses to do a little shopping and trading of gear. Shanks gets his freshly enchanted elven saber and all seems right with the team. A very needed day of respite given the few days they’ve had. They cherish it while they can, because, with Collateral, peace seems to always feel short-lived.

Last time: we find ourselves with the team giving the Stone of Revival to Amina. In this exchange, she reminds them that she also asked them to help aid Quon and his people in the Glasmeda Isles. It’s also determined that Hoshino is not cursed, not in the sense that can be removed via the Remove Curse spell. While this brings a sense of relief to the party, they have more questions for their new ally. Salix is told that their hut is still intact, and the party agrees to stop and visit it on their way up north. Amina lets Zechs know that Nymora is safe, and they are sent back to see just that. The wreckage of the machines that Arguile and Shanks saw is nowhere to be found.

They say it’s better to have loved and lost than to ever have loved at all. They also say love is blind and can take your breath away. In the case of Shanks, Rig did a lot more than that. A mysterious figure from his past who had her heart set on revenge in exchange for time and power. The party had enough to deal with between their time in the amber temple, Kyver making dark dealings, and their mysterious new ally Kasimir. To say that this left the party divided was an understatement in the aftermath of the events. Let’s hope they can learn from their past mistakes and grow to trust each other despite their troubling pasts. They have an entire valley to save, which is still only the beginning of an ever-growing list of developments.

Collateral Damage - C1 Arc 5 The Rig Situation
It’s hard for this group to catch a break it seems. Upon leaving the tavern, the party arrives and finally deals with their task at the winery. It’s a long battle and not everything is tied up in a pretty bow. We find the group concerned with Kyver’s well-being. Thinking that the dagger he received may be the cause they remove it from his possession and give him Arguile’s rapier as a loaner. They arrive back at Krezyk for the evening and return the wine to the town. Faith, power, and dreams seem to be on everyone’s minds. The next day, they meet with a strange and peculiar man, the Abbot. The entire process leading to the exchange and everything during, left the party unsettled. A strange man with an odd obsession for Strahd even going so far as to create a bride for him. If that weren’t enough, the druids have more things brewing. Instead of dismissing it as “their problem and not ours” the group finally decides to make a plan to see it through and make the land of Barovia a bit safer. This isn’t their finest hour by any stretch of the imagination.
Through some deceit and a revivify spell they gained a new ally, Chico. This of course did not happen without a rather uncomfortable exchange and series of bluffs towards Strahd who appeared shortly after. While he lets them continue on, he tells them he is aware of their coming and goings, and that they are always being watched within his realm. The Cascade appears for them again, and they explain that Chico should be in the employ of the Tavern and not have the details of what really happened revealed to him. Some of the party receive new gifts and items that they requested to help them on their journey ahead. An onyx blade handles for Kyver, a great sword for Galahad, and a saber for We'ahqa. JM takes the druidic staff that they found from We'ahqa for safe keeping and the group plans their next course of action. They leave the tavern, meeting with Damian again who shares his contempt towards Strahd. They inform him that they are indeed allies and he informs them that they might find aid in Vallaki at the Blue Water Inn. The layers and layers of complexities just keep adding up, don’t they?

Collateral Damage - C1 Arc 4: The Task At Hand
We are introduced to someone far worse than Strahd. A being known as The Constable. He has taken JM and imprisoned them for their crimes throughout the planes and time. In a ransacked tavern, Welby gives the party the rundown of the situation, and with the help of an old ally of JM, they begin to make a plan to get them back. The party splits up into two teams, a negotiation team to try to plead for JM’s release, and a stealth team to break out JM if the negotiation goes south. The party meets the Constable and a back-and-forth about justice, and law are discussed. The negotiation goes south, and just as you think it couldn’t get worse, it results in an ultimatum from The Constable. The paladin for JM or none of you leave at all. Furious and with their back against the wall the party agrees. They are given JM, at least so they are told. They are met with a human woman wearing his clothes and not resembling him in the slightest. Once at the tavern again, they plan for an all-out heist on The Constable’s Vaults, his prison where they are currently keeping Galahad.
As only hours pass for the party, 50 years pass for the Goliath. It was a time spent training his mind, body, and faith. Made better by a friend named Bothok, who he later realized was the avatar of his god Bahamut. The party reconnects and attempts to escape only to be trapped in some illusory field of The Constable’s design. A traumatic series of events transpire, leaving only Zechs to face off with The Constable. All of this happens as the party one by one awakes in water-filled tubes in another location. Eventually, they all manage to escape, but the events hit them all hard, some harder than most. JM gives them each something to aid them on their personal quests. A lot of questions, mixed emotions, and heavy drinking followed. Conversations are exchanged and the party now has to pick up the pieces of the last few hours and finish their task at hand. Destroying Strahd and saving Barovia!

So with a less than stellar start to their adventure, the party has lost its charge to the enemy they were sent there to defeat. They have managed to get Strahd’s personal journal, the first tarot card. They welcomed a new party member and fought another battle that could have gone better. They have found new weapons, new enemies, and for some, visions and promises of gifts beyond compare. Zechs is elected leader of this rag-tag group and not even a few hours later almost half the party is caught in an explosion. That will remind them to check for traps and not mess with things that aren’t theirs in the future. Right? They have been off to a rough start, to say the least. They arrive at Krezyk where they are told that they can find aid (lodging and information) in exchange for tracking down their wine delivery that has not yet arrived. So, back from where they came, still licking their wounds from that morning, the party travels back to go track down some wine. What could go wrong? The first major location in this journey reveals just how out of their depth this group may be. Haunted manors, a woman being visited by a powerful dark force, and the internal demons they have to fight as well.

We come back to the story still in the bowels of the speakeasy “Twisted Antler”. Sage and Thai are putting more cards on the table with their current “situation”. It seems, however, that their information has some interest to more than the people in that room. Sage finds and dispels the orb that seems to hover closely around Thai. On the other side of the room, Bosco informs The Connusier of his current travels, and while the story seems intriguing there is a desire for more than what the rogue is currently sharing. On both sides of these conversations, they speak about the idea to take down Olmoz and the Infinity Bazaar. Oh, and more importantly Thai is on the lamb and Bosco is to be presumed “dead”. While Chava offers a place of refuge for the group as they are now certain that Olmoz has sent assassins after them. In fact, Olmoz pays Thai a visit in his dream, taunting the always confident Tabaxi. Thai wakes up in a cold sweat and informs Bosco and Sage of what transpired. A messenger delivers to the group a box with five gold coins bearing the mark of the Infinity Bazaar, further driving home the message that they are on Olmoz’s radar. They gather their things, use a psionic link to communicate, and put forth a plan in motion to lure out their would-be killers. Are they in over their heads? Is their plan doomed to fail? There's so much happening and that's where we pick up…

We return to the Iwi with Thai, Bosco, and their new ally Sage Sapien. The group makes their way toward MechFall with Sage as their means of transportation. While on this journey Sage gives them what he knows of the Daughters of Creation and the changes that have happened since last he gazed upon these lands. Thai informs Bosco of their time away, the group that he ran with, the man who took him, and his nefarious plan to pull the planes into each other. It’s a city of a more modern age as they find horseless carriages and buildings as tall as the eye can see. They have their sights set on the “Twisted Antler” where the drinks are plenty if you have the currency to pay for them. It’s a speakeasy, not a place you’d find on a map. What is the price for these drinks you may ask? Information of course. You just need to ask about the Elvish Rum. Chava gives Thai a hard time for leaving without so much as a goodbye. After pleasantries are exchanged Thai and Sage let them in on what they’ve been up to and ask them for the utmost discretion. On the other side of the room, Bosco catches up with his old pal The Connoisseur who introduces Bosco to a fiery new blend he acquired. There’s a lot of information floating around as are the drinks. Let’s hope for their sake, the booze is worth the price.

Meanwhile, we return to the gem heist job with Thai, Bosco, Morz… and an EMERALD DRAGON! It looked like quite a grim situation as the team tries their best to escape from the dragon's fury. Eventually, the dragon’s breath weapon deals a massive hit of psychic damage to Bosco and Thai and the dragon eventually gets a hold of Morz who is torn into. Thai and Bosco attempt to free Morz with force but the dragon doesn’t seem to want to relinquish their quarry. Reading the situation Thai makes an effort to plead with the dragon for their lives. A badly injured Morz is put down but kept close as Bosco and Thai begin their negotiations. Eventually, they make allies with the dragon who they name Sage. They agree to go after Olmoz and the Inifinity Bazaar.

After the defeat of the Web of Fate, Salix brings Duo back from Granzia where he was banished. The stone had taken hold of Duo and he was not willing to give up the stone. He even went so far as to tell Zechs that if the party planned on taking it from him, he would leave the group, forever. An attempt was made to command Duo to drop the stone, but the spell Galahad cast was not strong enough to separate the magic of the stone from Duo. Shanks took a calculated shot, managing to release the stone from Duo as Galahad quickly grabbed it and placed it into the haversack. Just as things seemed to settle down, a mysterious figure emerges from underneath the Shrine of Fate. A man named Hoshino, a victim of the Web, is met by the party and is thousands of years removed from when he came. There are spoils, revelry, some discussion about the city’s future, and conversation about what the party has been feeling. The party lets Hoshino know that he can join them on their journey and help connect any missing pieces from his memories. Voyas departs from the party in the morning leaving with her ally from the monastery where she studied. It’s the dawn of a new day and the party is preparing to head back to the Heartwood to deliver the stone to Amina.

The party stayed focused and they were able to come out on top. One by one they took down each member of the Web of Fate and secured their victory. It’s a tense few moments before the ceremony begins. The party makes their final plans and preparations for the retrieval of the stone and the elimination of the Web of Fate. Salix offers themselves up as a distraction, an enlarged and souped-up Galahad is going to come at Lady Sagewyng like a freight train, the familiars are going to grab the stone, and Duo will be banished with the stone while the battle takes place. Some of this plan actually works and there is a brief moment where the team feels confident. Until things begin to go sideways. Salix disappears into a void of shadow, Zechs goes down, and the situation begins to look a bit grim. Momentum does however start to shift for the party but it’s a war of attrition. Salix returns rejuvenated and emanating with powerful void magic at their disposal. This will be the most challenging fight for the party so far. Will they come out on top? We last left off with the party arriving back at the safe house. Their attempt on Grimwing's life was unsuccessful but brought about useful information on their foes going forward. The night still had an air of tension as the party rested what felt like it could be their very last rest. Conversations had, but it was the dreams and visions that proved the most interesting. Voyas heard directly from the Daughter of the Flame and was told about her role in the group, story, and events ahead. As the party woke they heard and found a bestial spirit of a caracal kitten left by Arbane with a note written in the dirt that said "Be seeing you soon kitty cat." There was a dark moment that led to a familiar fight… Duo falling briefly, Zechs reviving him and killing the bestial spirit, and eventually Voyas reaching out to Zechs mentally and just hearing him scream and cry as the stress of these past few days and everything else surrounding him has brought him to his breaking point. The group decides to move forward with the plan to break into the Shrine of Fate using the captain's amulets that Iggy gave the party. Shanks and Arguile head over that way, while the rest of the party reconnects with Finnea and the resistance. Shanks and Arguile are in shark infested waters and one wrong move can have dire consequences. Even still they know what they must do and proceed forward. Collateral Damage - C1E94 The Day Of
Last we left off, just a few hours after the assassination attempt on Garron the party sets their sights on Grimwing. They move in to strike and just manage to get the drop on him. Voyas blocks the door to the Harpy Room with her shield, (Captain America style), and the patrons start to panic. On the outside Zechs sees guards move towards the door and the sounds of Arbane’s voice and his beasts in the distance. Meanwhile, back inside the party quickly discovers just exactly how the Stone of Revival works and the mystery behind the venom walkers. As Grimwing meets his end, a flash of light leaves his chest, goes towards the tower and back into him in a flash. He is transformed into a massive drider-like creature that screeches loud enough for the entire casino to hear. Galahad, Voyas, and the others go to strike the creature down, and outside Zechs knows that’s his cue to act. Grimwing falls twice but is, just as quickly, brought back up as this creature. Zechs finally gets to the rest of the group to see the sight for himself and warn them that they have company incoming. Salix banishes the creature and Galahad takes his mighty sword Kanna’s Fury and creates a giant hole for an exit. The group disappears into the night back to the safe house, uncertain if they were followed but confident that despite how things went the information they learned was vital. Invenas is on high alert, the party is exhausted but feeling accomplished for once and they decide to rest before the madness ensues the next day. A casino in the Vice Ward that resembles a stranded ship is where they are said to be that night. The party meticulously plans its next course of action. Zechs covers the exits from the crow's nest and Shanks, Arguile, and Salix are disguised as nondescript wood elves. The rest of the party goes unnoticed with the invisibility spell cast by Salix. The recon commences and after some time they, shy of Zechs, find their target. Grimwing seems on edge and is seen placing a finger on his temple. Then, one of his associates heads for the door. Despite an attempt at interference, the party seems that if they don’t strike now, they will never get this chance again. After a late and very needed rest from everyone, Finn manages to give the group the rundown as best as they can. They suddenly find people in a hurry leaving in the opposite direction of them. In what seems like an “all hope is lost” situation, the party finds themselves in different head spaces while imprisoned in Invenas. Galahad and Zechs share a vision from Melora about the days to come. With the help of their Unillum ally they are able to get an idea of to where their gear is. Plans are made for escape and Quon makes their way up and begins to get everyone’s gear into the bag of holding. Corellon pays a visit to Glad and the rest of the party. He proceeds to say that while he can not be directly involved in what they are about to do, he can offer some aid, and tells Glad to touch her robes when the time is right. He offers answers and information to the party as well which puts them at ease. They do what they can to prepare because the road that lies ahead is long, difficult, and unforgiving. The party is transported to the outskirts of Invenas. The city guards are on high alert and there are a lot of them. As quickly as they had a plan for entering the city they saw that plan crumble. They were not welcomed into the city as they thought they would be. Instead, they are shot at and arrested. Their crime? Espionage. It dawns on them that they were expecting the party, they just didn’t think they’d walk up to the front door. While some members of the party are more inclined to comply, that idea doesn’t resonate with the entire group. In prison, they meet Arbane, the ranger who captured Salix with the help of his displacer beasts. Pleasantries are exchanged, and immediately plans are made for escape. Galahad is told by Bahamut that “Patience will be rewarded.” He does as he did for 50 years and he meditates and accepts that things will work themselves out. This job becomes more suspicious with every new inch the party uncovers. Lightly guarded, the locks and traps are few and far between, and the loot in here just doesn’t add up. With some creative teamwork Morz, Bosco, and Thai end up subduing almost every guard they encounter with ease. Eventually they do continue to find the Cindergems that they were sent to get. As they continue to make their way through, they continue to keep things light with their friendly competition and trying to one up the other. However, all this fun must come to an end and what has been a too good to be true job reveals its fangs. A statue of a dragon begins to move its gaze towards the party. How will they make it out of this pickle?

Salix is starting to receive visions from the Daughter of the Void. They confirm if it’s happening to anyone else, which it isn’t. This goes on for a number of days. During this time they encounter a Unillum that is seemingly wearing a dress of buzzing and slightly agitated bees. The Unillum informs them that they are here to rescue Salix. Preparations are made and more information is gathered. Meanwhile, at the Heartwood proper, Zechs and Shanks goes to meet Amina, The Arbiter of the Heartwood. She looks just as Zechs remembers her. Som questions answered, but even newer questions now to answer. They learn that Kyver is safe and traveling with a different party. She offers them relief as Nymora is indeed safe and lets them know that she can help with transportation to Invenas. We are also finally catching up with Thai’s story this episode. We find ourselves back with Salix at dinner with the other captured sacrifices. They offer to help and exchange stories of their origins and why they would be sought after by the Web of Fate. They explain that they are a priestess or reincarnation of the Daughter of the Void and go into detail of what she looks like. Back on the airship Galahad informs the party about what the Tailor said and they start to strategize a plan of attack. In their lapse of judgement they suspect Alternate Salix is right outside the room they are discussing plans in. A brief and tense pause later, Zechs’ Hunter’s Mark drops and immediately the team searches every crevice of the ship to no avail. Alternate Salix is gone and left a very taunting message in their room. Zechs informs his parents on EVERYTHING that’s been going on with Alternate Salix and Malar and eventually make plans to send them back home to Nymora. Glad uses Sending to relay to The Journeyman all that has transpired, but the spell is not received at all. The group, suddenly worried that they were captured again, ask if she can contact Chico or Welby. She reaches out to Welby who in the most horrific pained voice says “Make it stop.” The group is at a loss of what to do and spend the next few days of their journey in quiet contemplation and preparation for what’s to come. Finally in the Heartwood proper, after using Speak With Plants again to communicate to Amina, they arrive at the base of the massive tree and begin to make their way inside to speak with her. Collateral Damage - C1E75 The Heartwood Speaks
On the last episode of The Medusa’s Cascade “Collateral Damage” we are introduced to “The Tailor”, the Palenguard that Arguile and Shanks informed Galahad and Zechs about. They fill Galahad up to speed on how to properly subdue Alternate Salix and get them into Palenguard custody. As this plan is being made we finally start to figure out what’s happening with “our” Salix. They are being held by a man named “Arbane” who works for Lady Sagewyng. They have caught the eye of Lady Sagewyng and her associates for quite some time and despite Salix’s hesitation towards them, their captors INSIST that they are friends and on the same side. Eventually they meet other captives, potential sacrifices, and start to get an understanding of just how grave their situation may be. There’s so much happening and that’s where we pick up…

Collateral Damage - C1E74 On the Subject of Salix
The hits just keep on coming. We are given more insight into Shanks and Arguile's brief time without the party in Nymora. After a conversation with the Palengaurd known as the Tinkerer, Arguile and Shanks split off from one another. Shanks goes to the library just before close and picks up what he believes is useful information for not just him, but the party. Arguile heads back to Zechs' parents and is eventually met by Shanks. Hearing a commotion in the distance they quickly go to check on it. To their surprise they find that a war has indeed come to Nymora. Arguile recognizes the enormous machines piloted by soldiers… from Iwi. They are slaughtering citizens en masse, the duo informs the guards to run and get the citizens to safety. Rushing towards Zechs' home they inform his parents to pack a bag and tell them that they had to leave… NOW! Eventually making it back to a Mr Big who Arguile previously made plans to magically transport "something" to the ship where the party was. He now gets the 4 of them to transport and tells Mr. Big that if he has a place to go, he should get out of here. Now in the present Arguile, Shanks, Zechs, and Galahad are all up to speed and eventually decide to fill in Glad and Voyas about their Anti-Salix problem. They both agreed with the group that they needed to be stopped but now had to figure out how.

Collateral Damage - C1E73 It's Always Something
In last week’s episode of Collateral Damage, we find Zechs has an aspect of Malar inside of him. Galahad, using Divine Sense, felt his presence within Zechs but then was pushed out of him seemingly. The party decides to make the best out yet out of the situation and just use this time on the airship to prepare for what’s to come. Back in Nymora, Shanks and Arguile come across a Palenguard who goes by the name of the "Tinkerer" who is tracking a variant version of one of the party members. Explaining the situation they surmise that it’s likely Salix and they have to get to the party immediately. They find that giant machines from Iwi have started to invade and slaughter many citizens of Nymora. They make the decision to take Zechs’ parents and bolt. The war that Mr. Brave was discussing was not just the ramblings of an old drunkard. We find Zechs’ parents, Arguile and Shanks in one of the lower levels of the airship. Shanks uses disguise self as Glad goes to find Galahad and eventually Zechs, filling them on most of the details. They leave Duo in Zechs’ room and an alarm spell is placed. Shanks then begins to fill Galahad and Zechs about the whole situation. It’s been one really long day. There’s so much happening and that’s where we pick up…

Collateral Damage - C1E72 Adding Wrinkles
Goodbyes are said between the majority of the party and Zechs’ parents. Arguile and Shanks are staying behind in an attempt to catch their tail and make sure his parents are safe. Galahad is asked to retrieve a piece of the root of the Heartwood in order to get his armor fully enchanted. Shanks has another conversation with Elrin that leads to Shanks signing a contract with the Archfey. If he helps “take care of” some people on Elrin’s list, Elrin will unlock the capabilities of Shanks’ bow. Upon waking up from this chat we see his eyes are now gold, thus symbolizing his connection to his patron Elrin. Voyas, Glad, Galahad, Zechs, and Salix arrange travel to the Heartwood via airship. While the group settles in, Zechs reveals what he heard on his way to the library, and the connection between these cults, the sacrifice, and a memory of his childhood. Galahad, through Divine Sense, discovers that an aspect of Malar is within Zechs and immediately they all feel uneasy at the discovery. Meanwhile, on a stakeout Arguile gets a history lesson from Shanks on his past, particularly Rig and the S8. As this wraps they find a suspicious person that they start to follow.

The party is making the most of their time in Nymora. After some shopping, the party (minus Zechs) decides to check out the temple of The Light of Elrin. While there Arguile and Shanks are told that Arguile is one of the first “CHOSEN” by Elrin. Zechs meets a family with a similar story to Kyver. When back together at Zechs’ parents' home, they discuss what they’ve learned that day. Voyas, Galahad, and Arguile put together pieces of the tale of a hero and Arguile’s rapier. Zechs shares what he’s learned in regards to the Arbiters, the history of Sloane, and the cults that may be in relation to his situation. During dinner, they discuss what their plans are moving forward and Zechs decides to try speaking with his home. As crazy as it may seem he goes to his room and casts “Speak with Plants” and he speaks with his home a tree of the heartwood to which Amina is connected to. Amina tells him that she’s been expecting him and that solidifies the decision for the party to move forward. They will stay a few more days and leave when the next available airship is ready to go to the Heartwood proper.

A night of well earned sleep is had for everyone at Quil’s family home. In the morning they have breakfast and agree that they can stay for a few days to rest, gather information, and allow the family very needed time together. The group goes into town to gather things for their stay and Seti gives them a shopping list. While in town, the group splits up and does a bit of shopping at various locations. Zechs’ splits off on his own and goes to gather information at the library when he hears something bone chiling and disturbing to him. He collects himself and shelves it for now. Inside he acquires lots of information on Sloane, the Arbitors, and cults of the past in Nymora. Left there to lick their wounds, the party tries to figure out how The Constable got the drop on them. Shanks and Arguile reach out to Elrin to discern if they were tracked by magical means. Using this as a good opportunity they ask Elrin about the name Arioch. Meanwhile, a figure approaches the party. A Kalashtar named Voyas who claims that the Daughter of the Flame led her there. In a vision, she saw a Goliath and two elves. Bahamut manages to relieve Galahad of any suspicion he has and they agree to let her come with them to the Grand Temple. A thick fog covers the area and they are immediately reminded of the fog that surrounded Barovia. Eventually, they come to what they think is the temple, and an Unillum named Izel who informs the party that they must do a number of trials in order to get to the temple. The first trial is a trial of wit.

Collateral Damage - C1E66 Once More Into the Fog
The party has now tracked Salix to an abandoned shack in a clearing of the forest. The shack however is empty and doesn’t tell them much. The Tavern appears outside and the party is greeted by Glad, with news of her contact with the Daughter of the Vines and a new hairstyle in tow. A transformed Salix burst through the doors of the Cascade and a relieved party hears their accounts of their kidnapping. They learn that this was in part due to The Constable and the party groans with the information. They rest and make a 6-day trek towards the Grand Temple. Shanks and Arguile tell the party what Elrin has informed them of and there is some protest amongst their involvement. Finally approaching the temple the party is greeted by a bard, who has been expecting them. Three other figures appear, one being The Constable, who informs them that he just wants Thai. Memories of their first introduction to Strahd, the night they lost Irena flashes, and before long they are pincered. Put into an impossible situation, Thai gives himself up, and in an instant, they all disappear.

After a brief but intense encounter with some displacer beasts, the party rushes after Salix. They find themselves gathering their things and rushing towards a portal to Sloane. Once there, they track them to a shack in a clearing of the woods. While the group investigates what transpired, the tavern appears outside. Feeling a bit relieved, the party heads inside and informs The Journeyman of what happened. Glad comes down to greet the party and inform them of her conversation with her patron Corellon about the Daughters of Creation. She has a noticeable change to her appearance and recounts her visions to the party. Suddenly, a transformed and badly injured Salix appears in the tavern. Insisting that they escaped their captors and the captors who took them had ties with The Constable. The Journeyman offers them rest and time to plan and regroup before heading back out to Sloane. Rest is had, plans are made, and there is now a new quest to embark upon!

The party, now rested, makes plans to head towards Sloane. They decide that they would head around the mountains of Tarren Ridge, avoiding Antonius, to the Constables machine out by Dragonborn Valley. However, the day starts with Cereius gone, along with all his possessions. Assuring themselves that he was safe and only doing what was needed for him and his goddess, they make their way. Zechs and Galahad discuss their futures, their headspaces, their plans, and what they should do with Kyver’s lingering Orcus problem. As their watch ends they come to find that Kyver has left as well, and while not having anything to do with Orcus the group is still concerned. They push through and hope that he will be safe and return to them. The next night is also filled with lots of tension and unease as the party begins their watches. Shanks and Arguile have a very heated conversation with Elrin after he shared some bombshell revelations with them. They come out of their conversation to find a displacer beast heading for Salix. Introductions are made as the party meets two new adventurers who would be joining them. Thai Gur a Tabaxi like Zechs and Kyver but almost the complete opposite of them both. Salix Dendron is revealed to be a priestess OR reincarnation of The Daughter of the Void. One of the fabled “Daughters of Creation”. The group exchanged notes and information while making their way to see the legendary blacksmith Vulsir up in Nindlelogh. Cereius receives two rings that his goddess has sent him to get and revealed that the rings would help him bring his wife back to the material plane. Sometime later the group makes their way towards Terran Ridge to seek out the Nalakavi tribe of Goliaths that would hopefully give Galahad some answers as to who is killing his people. Eventually, they find themselves in what they believe to be the land of the Nalakavi and the druidic members of the clan are trying to figure out how Galahad can be who he claims to be.

Meanwhile, the group finds themselves still separated by miles of Granzia. On the one hand, Shanks and Glad have finally made their way to the machine that the others entered in from. On the other, we have the boys consisting of Arguile, Cereius, Galahad, Kyver, and Zechs all trying to get a sense of where they are and how this machine works. Eventually, Shanks tries to reach out to Arguile to communicate with him via their connection. After a few attempts it succeeds and the group is able to relay some general info to each other. Kyver emerges from the bag of holding he was kept in and is informed that he was a means to an end. His captors? Worshipers of the goddess Tiamat. On the other side of town we have Zechs on a semi-leisurely stroll through Granz City with Duo. Meanwhile, Cereius and Glad meet up with Shanks back at the guild, when they get word of Kyver’s disappearance. Upon exiting the guild, Shanks is fired upon and is almost pickpocketed by an invisible assailant. Fast forward to Zechs, Cereius, Galahad, and Arguile meeting up to find the bodies of the Tell-Tale Guild all slain and an effigy of Elrin. With the help of Zechs’ beastial spirit “Wolfy” the crew follows the trail for Kyver to what they assess to be one of the machines that JM spoke of. They go inside and head upstairs running into Kyver who recounts what transpired and all the while they unknowingly travel from underneath the Cathedral of Granz City to a mountain overlooking Dragonborn Valley. At the guild, Shanks collects himself and makes the tough decision to cut his hair and alter it. There’s so much happening and that’s where we pick up…

Upon arrival, she is given information that would aid the party in their quest to save the planes. In her discussion with the King of the Seelie Court, she informs him that she has ceased her search for her father and tells him that her family is with the party. With that, she leaves and enters the tavern again. Greeted by a faun who hands her an envelope that says “Quill” and asks that she delivers it to Quill. She has agreed and reconnects with the rest of the party, now having breakfast after a morning of pranks and “team bonding”. The group finds themselves with several members of The Shuffle Guild: Qho, an Aarakocra; Gojun, a Triton; Kivela, a Shifter; Inia, a Yuan-ti and Strohm, a Changeling. They exchange information and familiarize themselves with each other. Information is exchanged about Shank’s current bounty, the other odd happenings on Granzia, and catch the Guild members on what happened on Zechs’ first job. They agree to taking the night to rest and revel. Just as Strohm pours out drinks for everyone, Inia and Gojun bring Zechs upstairs for a debrief, as is standard protocol. We are in the midst of the battle for this upcoming episode. We find Kaleb, who in earlier episodes was with the group but seemingly disappeared, at the side of Strahd. Red Wyrmlings as well as Ireena are at Strahd’s side as the group has some back and forth with the ruler of Barovia. Zechs who wants nothing more than to get this fight over with, fires off a shot towards Strahd. Attros attempts to intercept, but Shanks beats him to it, shooting Zechs’ arrow out of the sky with his own. In frustration, Zechs fires again and the battle is underway! Kassimir and We'ahqa seemingly slip out and head towards the crypts. Attros goes invisible and Galahad approaches Strahd. Shanks is polymorphed into a badger. Kyver and Arguile are being harried by a wyrmling. There is something happening everywhere you look. How will this all turn out? The party gets rid of all the druids that have been plaguing the lands of Barovia but decides to revive the one named “Chico”. Through an elaborate series of lies and such, the party has found itself a new ally and cook for the Cascade. They find themselves another fight as they attempt to take down Gulthia’s Tree. Towards the end of the fight, Strahd arrives to watch. After, there is an exchange and in an attempt to save face the party makes a deal with him, in exchange to be his “party planners” for his wedding. The tree is eventually destroyed, but more problems arise with the deteriorating state of Kyver’s mental health. Back at the tavern, The Journeyman gives him a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen, but not without some tough love and hard truths first. What lies ahead for the Collateral Damage crew? Some by their own hands and some by the shaking hands of their allies. In the end, Zechs remained. Emotionally scarred and seething with anger, he has an exchange with The Constable that was a mountain of revelations. The party, unbeknown to Zechs, woke up in glass tubes filled with water. They are all out except for Zechs. Zechs and The Constable, finish their exchange and fight. Zechs goes down, wakes up in the tank, and met by the faces of his party members. The Journeyman smashes a device and the party escapes back to The Cascade. Things will never be the same…

Collateral Damage - C1E2 A Light in the Mists
In the previous session our party awoke in the woods after having defeated a small enclave of zombies. They made their way down the wooded path to the town on the other side of the forest. As they walked into town, they noticed a peculiar sight: the tavern that they had embarked from the day before had somehow traveled to the other side of the forest. The majority of the party went to the tavern with Kaleb and Galadloriel made their way to the temple in the center of town, where they met the Goliath Paladin Galahad. Galahad joined Kaleb and Glad at the tavern where the group again met the enigmatic Journeyman and a new ally, Attros the Kenku Artificer. A long conversation was had between the group and the Journeyman, where he tried to assuage everyone’s doubts. After some success, the group set off to the apothecary and blacksmith for supplies required for their travel to Barovia. The party made their way through the mists of the forest and was ambushed by yet another horde of zombies. After some battle, they successfully defeated their foes and continued on until they happened upon a Vistani camp in the middle of the forest. There was a rocky start to their stay there, but the tension soon lessened and they were invited into the large tent in the camp to speak to the matriarch of the camp. There they were given a tarot card reading in which the path to success was laid out for them, albeit cryptically. Here is where things went sideways. Kyver decided to rob the camp while everyone slept. He was successful to a point until his cloak caught on a stray nail and he face planted, scattering the objects of his plunder all on the ground while simultaneously waking the entire camp. There was to be a fight between the party and the Vistani until Attros came to the rescue with a set of manacles and a natural 20 in persuasion to let the party leave the camp with their lives. This is where we pick up the adventure...

Collateral Damage - C1E1 Nine Strangers Walk into a Tavern
The adventure began with everyone receiving a mysterious card: a medusa’s head on one side and a number on the other. As each of them read the card, they were instantaneously transported to an open field with a small building sitting in the middle of it. Unsure of where they were and who they were with, the group cautiously made their way to the building, which ironically, (or not, whichever you prefer), was a tavern. No name emblazoned the outside of the tavern, only a circular wooden sign that was an exact replica of the medusa’s head on the card they’d all received. They make their way in and are greeted first by a Half-Orc and then by a man who claimed to be the owner of the tavern and the one who sent them the cards. He went on to explain that he was The Journeyman and was a contractor of sorts. He had a job that he felt the group was the right fit for. After many questions and insight checks later they are told that the number on the cards they were sent is the sum they will be paid if they completed their mission. Their mission, take the path through the forest to the village on the other side. Simple enough right? Yeah, not so much. After an arduous battle with some zombies, (a sign of things to come), they vanquished their foes and rested for the evening and that is where we pick up our adventure...
