#TradWife: More than the Dress
#TradWife: More than the Dress
Welcome to the Theology of the Buddy - a Podcast for Catholics who love the beauty of the Church's Sacred Tradition. This is episode 90. Today on the podcast, Mike, Tim, and Brooke discuss the #TradWife phenomenon taking the internet by storm. It has some amazing things going for it, but also some things that perhaps oversimplify not only what being a wife is, but what a family is. We also discuss the “stay at home girlfriend” trend. Oh boy. Buckle up. Disclaimer: These views are our own. Traditional, Catholic families can function differently from each other so long as they follow Gods holy law and commandments. Blessings to all! Resources Used/Mentioned in This Podcast:

Today on the podcast, we’re returning to our Liturgical Breakdown series, however, we’re doing something a little different this time. We’re talking about the Rorate Caeli Mass help during the Advent Season and coming to Holy Angel’s parish in St. Thomas, Ontario on December 5 at 6:30am. This is one of our favorite Masses of the year and we thought we’d dive into the history, beauty and symbolism of this Mass, but before we do that, let’s check in and see how Brooke’s Christmas decorating is going.

The Father
Welcome to the Theology of the Buddy Podcast, a podcast for Catholics who love Tradition and want more of it. This is episode 57. My name is Chris. Normally, there are at least a couple of people on the podcast, but today we’re trying something a little different. I’m going solo this time. I hope you don’t mind spending some time with me today.
A listener back in Season 1 asked us to do an episode on growing in devotion to the Person of God the Father. So this podcast is dedicated to Gem and her question. On this podcast, I’m going to share a part of my own story of coming to discover the Fathership of God in my own life, we’ll discuss a major roadblock that may stand in the way of building that relationship with the Father, and I’ll share some practical tips for ways that we can face that roadblock, and how we can grow in a deeper relationship with the person of God the Father. Hands Off (Communion in the Hand)
Hands Off (Communion in the Hand)
In this episode, we’re going to talk about receiving Holy Communion.
How we receive in the Latin rite
What are the rules around receiving, and why are they the way they are
Some of the history of how we got to the current state of affairs, where standing, kneeling, and receiving on the hand and the tongue is all allowed
-Why all four of us, at different times in our lives, changed how we receive Our Blessed Lord in Holy Communion
Resources used in this podcast:
Council of Trent session 13, first decree
CANON III.-If any one denieth, that, in the venerable sacrament of the Eucharist, the whole Christ is contained under each species, and under every part of each species, when separated; let him be anathema.
CANON IV.-If any one saith, that, after the consecration is completed, the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ are not in the admirable sacrament of the Eucharist, but (are there) only during the use, whilst it is being taken, and not either before or after; and that, in the hosts, or consecrated particles, which are reserved or which remain after communion, the true Body of the Lord remaineth not; let him be anathema.
Summa Theologiae Third Part:The dispensing of Christ's body belongs to the priest for three reasons. First, because . . . he consecrates in the person of Christ . . . Secondly, because the priest is the appointed intermediary between God and the people, hence as it belongs to him to offer the people's gifts to God, so it belongs to him to deliver the consecrated gifts to the people. Thirdly, because out of reverence toward this sacrament nothing touches it but what is consecrated, hence the corporal and the chalice are consecrated, and likewise the priest's hands, for touching this sacrament. Hence it is not lawful for anyone else to touch it, except from necessity — for instance, if it were to fall upon the ground, or else in some other case of urgency.

St. JPII and the Luminous Chaplet (Ft. Fr. Steve Marsh and Boniface of Unam Sanctam Catholicam)
St. JPII and the Luminous Chaplet (Ft. Fr. Steve Marsh and Boniface of Unam Sanctam Catholicam)
Imagine for a moment you're riding a bicycle to go to the store to buy some delicious bacon to make a wonderful Sunday breakfast for your friends. Along the way, you meet a young man who tells you about a nice little store which sells specialty cheeses. You realize, “hey, cheese sounds great” and you change direction and go get the weirdest, stinkiest cheese you can find. You buy the cheese and return home to realize that you forgot to get the bacon along the way. This podcast is a little like that. Today on the podcast, Fr. Steve Marsh joins the boys to initially discuss mental prayer but the podcast takes a sharp right turn down the dark alley of the Luminous Mysteries instituted by St. John Paul II. It became the perfect segue into another conversation we had with Phil from the blog Unam Sanctam Catholicam discussing the validity of modern day canonizations, including that of the controversial JPII. Make sure you put on a helmet for this one, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!
