Ep. 109: Still in the spiritual closet at work?

Ep. 109: Still in the spiritual closet at work?

I'm putting two topics that most people don't associate together - CORPORATE LEADERSHIP and SPIRITUALITY!

...and I'm here to share that you can have both...knowing stepping out of the spiritual closet at work will serve you - I share how to do this as you your next steps right here in Ep. 109.

I admit, I'm still terrified to come out of my spiritual closet myself y'all - but today I'm ripping the bandaid off, in the hopes that you too know your whole and complete self can have the courage to do the same and step on your Courageous Path to BE!

The Backstory

For months this podcast topic was luffing like clean linens left hanging out to dry. Just sitting there on my list of topics to record...hoping one day it would get recorded!

Well, the time has come, and here are 12 minutes of my story and why this is so important, especially as a corporate leader who is ready to rise to your next level of leadership thru EQ Mastery! Part of my story I share is on this spiritual topic that I don't dwell on often when I share a few minutes of my burnout story...but today you'll hear it in what I call my own "spiritual awakening."

And, it includes Burning Man and the meditation camp I stayed at (where I didn't meditate), which is a pivotal part of my awakening - which is happening this week so it's only fitting this episode debuts 12 years after my first of 4 Burning Man events.

In this Ep. 109 of The Pausecast...

- My story of how I burned out and how it led me to walk through some spiritual doors I couldn't "unwalk" through

- How to create your own version of spirituality at work and what that means

- Why it's so important to bring your whole self to work

...and so much more!

How do we do that when we are feeling stressed at work?

- We take a queue from mother nature of course, and take inventory on balance - and what better time to do this than the sprint equinox!

- Seasons are a powerful reminder and a great cadence to tune in and ask ourselves - are we in harmony right now? Or out of alignment? What needs to shift to feel more aligned?

- Take a belly breath pause with Rachael, tune in, and see if you are feeling in harmony or where you feel out of alignment.

- What does it mean to live in harmony, day to day? How do we turn knowledge into living more in alignment, or in harmony? We need to apply it, not just acquire the knowledge.

In this episode we explore how to do just that...

Ep 82: How your triune brain navigates the corporate landscape

Ep 82: How your triune brain navigates the corporate landscape

As a corporate leader looking to make more of an impact and get out of stress mode, it's time to meet the triune brain and get behind-the-scenes of what's going on for you.

And this time, on video!

In this Ep. 82 of the Pausecast...

- We get our inner nerd on and learn more about neuroscience and how to leverage it as a confident, impactful corporate leader!

- We explain what the triune brain is, and how it works: reptilian, mammalian, and neocortex and how they came to be.

- How each of these 3 parts contributes to you as a leader and its shortcomings and benefits.

- How to get out of 'reptilian mode'  so you don't feel overwhelmed or stressed by activating your other parts of your brain.

- Learn the triad of needs, or needs of each part of the triune system: audiovisual, nurturing, and creative-intellectual stimulation - great tactics for the office based on team dynamics or based on how your day is going.

- How play can help us get out of stress and activate our mammal circuitry that helps release our pleasure and rest and digest hormones (hello, oxytocin!)

A little more about where the triune brain concept came from:

Paul MacLean (1913-2007) was an American physician and neuroscientist who spent six decades of work researching the brain and hypothesized that the skull holds not one brain but three “interconnected biological computers, each representing a distinct evolutionary stratum” that was formed upon the older layer before it. He called it the “triune brain” and identified three prominent parts, each one containing more progressively complex infrastructure of nerve cells: reptilian, mammalian, and paleo-mammalian.

Ep. 77 - How to take the work out of networking in 3 easy steps

Ep. 77 - How to take the work out of networking in 3 easy steps

Now that we're meeting again in person or having more connections again, it's easy to forget what makes networking feel more effective and less like "work."

After spending my week at the JPMorgan Healthcare conference in San Francisco, I was reminded of what makes networking feel streamlined, effective, and almost easy with a few simple steps to take before any networking engagement - whether it's with one person, many people, live or virtual!

In this episode 77, here's what I cover:

  • A brief reset pause with Rachael
  • The 3 essential steps to bring with you to any networking engagement and why they matter: one before you start, one during, and one after.

What's your networking tip? Drop me a line or reply back and let me know.

I'm sure there's so much more to say around this topic, but let's start there.

Do you want support around managing your energy around networking or these steps above? Let's talk - I support corporate leaders to do just that so you can feel more at peace and calm because you are networking in a natural and fulfilling way for you.

Here's to deeper connection and your fulfillment,

Rachael

Ep. 73 5 Things to love about being an EQ leader - Dec 22 edition

Ep. 73 5 Things to love about being an EQ leader - Dec 22 edition

In this episode 73...here's 5 more things this month to love when you are serving as a high EQ leader.

Each month I'll share 5 things that I love about being a high EQ leader - maybe there's one you resonate with, or one you want to try. Either way, let me know what you think?

  1. Stay inspired. Think about who you look up to as a leader, and give yourself a moment to think about them. Is it a quote you have on your desk, or a Post-It note? Is it something that you saw that brings you Joy. Give yourself credit for being with these leaders who have inspired you because it's actually lead you to who you are today.
  2. You can be a strong feminine-values driven leader! Lead with the feminine values that are associated most often with the feminine values. Anyone can do this, but it means leading that facilitate and influence creating, holding space, big picture thinking, silence, care, collaboration, communicative, these are all strong women are strong feminine values.  Most corporate workplaces are severely underrepresented in these values, and they are really important for Success it's time to bring them to bear.
  3. Always be learning or ABL! This means taking a class, reading a book, watching a TED Talk, stimulating your brain and new ways it is a infectious and inspiring not just yourself but the others. If this isn't your cup of tea, what is it that does get you excited and what you like to learn? Just do that instead
  4. Be enthusiastic about your ideas. When you are showing enthusiasm and present, you bring others along with you. It is emotional contagion and infectious. That is inspiring motivating and exciting when you get behind your idea with your own enthusiasm. You will be surprised what follows.
  5. Lead by example. That means when you want to take a day off, take the day off. Do not check email. Tell people you will be off line. The key here is setting expectations.

What are you excited about or working on as a high eq leadership trait? Let me know and leave me an audio message!
