Peacemaking During Civil Unrest

We all get tired in life because life brings surprises we are not prepared for. When you are tired and depressed, a lot of people go to sleep, because they don't want to face the day or the effect of such unexpected life situations. We are like the patriarchs and matriarchs of the Old Testament. We can dream like them and climb the ladder. Listen to learn more about who we are and how we can celebrate ourselves. 

We urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the faint-hearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them. See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all. 1 Thessalonians 5 :12-28

Listen to why "Black lives matter." The reason why we speak of black lives matter is that we care about the lives of all who are in danger. And today, now, and in this time of history, it is about the blacks. We are called to be the followers of Jesus. We all need to reflect deeply on what that means. Following Jesus is not the same as being a fan of Jesus. And there are many fans, not enough followers in Christianity. 

We, the developed nation called America, are broken. Our system is in need of healing and change. Each of us has a responsibility to change, and we are called to make that happen by simply following the American call to justice and truth. God breathes life into the dry bones if we allow it. God comes into us and shakes the grounds we stand on, but never leaves us without being changed. 

Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let us go out to the field.” And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him. We have been living in the strange new world of COVID-19 for what seems a long time now. We have been living in the world of isolation and social distancing in the midst of a global pandemic. So, what have we learned so far? I have been meditating on that question a lot. For me, I would say I have learned a great deal more about humility. I have been confronted once again with the true nature of my fragile being and my complete dependence on the Spirit. I have seen panic and fear, but I have also seen courage and compassion. I am learning what I value, not in the abstract, but in the real time of my own life. I am learning what would remain if everything else was taken away.- Bishop Steven Charleston

My grandma who is in isolation accidently dialed a wrong number yesterday and spoke to a random lady also in isolation for twenty minutes about their lives. They’ve exchanged phone numbers to keep in contact and meet when this is over. -unknown author

Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 1Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. James 5:13–16

When our churches are shut down and not meeting in our building, should we not be the church in our homes, is the subject matter of our conversations behind the red door today. Listen for more. 

Following Jesus is an easy concept, a great idea, and a wonderful thought for many who claim to be Christian. What does it really mean to be a followers of Jesus. Listen for more. 

Building trust is important in personal, interpersonal life. 

Everyone in the world is fascinated by the Beatitudes. I have heard that even Mahatma Gandhi is taken by it and lived by these principles. Listen for more as we talk about the Beatitudes. 

Jesus had the passion to live his call. But it was strengthened and supported by his compassion for people in the first place. Listen for more as Bishop Martin Field and others talk about it. 

What is forgiveness and what does it looks like your life, is the theme of this conversation. Listen for more to understand the journey we all have to take to be a forgiving person. 

Do not be afraid is a phrase we hear repeated often. Jesus says it many times. The Old Testament asks us not to be afraid. Listen for more why we shouldn't be afraid. 

When there is darkness, we are called to be the light. Where there is light, we are called to shine brighter. Our call is to be the Christ. Listen for more. 

What does it mean to follow Jesus. There are followers and fans. Who are you, the follower or the fan

Love is the way of the Scripture. If you live your life according to the Bible there is no other way you can live it, other than loving your neighbor as yourself.
