Repeat - The Smalls Talks to Menlo Innovations!
Wow, it is that time of year again and both of your hosts (Just Nate and DK) are both on vacation again at the same time and they could not find the time record a new episode this week. So they did what they do best and had a conversation about one of their favorite guests from this year.
Listen in as your hosts "Just Nate", Dennis K along with guest speaker Chris E talk to the CEO and Chief Story Teller of Menlo Innovations, Richard Sheridan. The Smalls team is a huge fan of Rich and everything that Menlo stands for. The team talks through all the ups and downs that Menlo Innovations have had in order to break the mold and how they created a joyful place to work. Menlo's mission is: "End human suffering in the world as it relates to technology.®" Rich tells stories throughout this nearly hour long podcast as he talks about how they were all focused on delighting others with the work of our hears, our hands and our minds. Rich states the key to success and how they have been so successful is they set out to make a culture where your more likely to take action than to take a meeting.
A key to Rich's success is he had a different goal than most. His goal was to try to succeed, where others goal is to try not to fail. Don't let failure get in your way, run the experiment and if it don't work, try something else and learn from the mistake.
It sounds simple, Create a Intentional Culture!
We can't suggest Rich's books enough, you can find them at nearly any books store or online, see links to both books below from Amazon.

The Smalls talks to Out Grow Your Garage!
Listen in as your hosts Just Nate and DK talk to Jessie Berg, CEO and Found of Out Grow Your Garage.
The idea began when founder and CEO of Outgrow Your Garage, Jessi Burg, experienced the ebbs and flows of running a seasonal landscaping business in Denver. It became so busy that she had to turn customers away.
That’s when she knew that she needed to expand, but didn’t know where to start. She knew she had to hire to meet client demand, but first needed to determine what she could afford. Would hiring a new employee bring in more revenue, or did she need more revenue in order to hire?
It was times like these during her five years with Pears to Perennials that made her wish she had a textbook with all of the answers. She discovered that many small business owners, especially those who run service-based businesses, often have to be in two places at once – working the billable hours while also running the administrative side behind the scenes – which can make expansion difficult to manage.
Jessi decided to cater to her peers by creating courses built around her personal experiences in business. The idea is to help small business owners everywhere continue to grow and prosper with a virtual, easy-to-manage structure designed to take the guesswork out of business expansion. There is so much to know when it comes to running a business. We are here to help.
If you have questions about any areas business operations, check out our online course catalog for more information!

The Smalls talks to Basecamp Legal!
Listen in as your hosts Just Nate and DK talk the founder and CEO of Basecamp Legal, Adrienne Fischer.
The trio talk about Trademarks, Trade Secrets, Copyrights and Patents.
From their website about Adrienne: "Small but scrappy. This description could be describing me or the small businesses and startups I represent. I’m a Denver based lawyer/mediator creating quality, accessible, and comprehensive legal solutions to help my clients reach their peak. I cut my teeth on employment law when I left law school. My career has grown in law firms and in-house. I’ve represented hundreds of small businesses, helped our clients raise millions in funds, and protected our clients’ brands. In my career, I have found I’m happiest when I’m helping startups and small businesses find solutions that are right for them. I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart and after reading one too many books and listening to one too many podcasts I find myself in the same boat as my clients – building a business to take it to its full potential.
I’ve always dreamed big. That’s how I ended up at NYU with an undergraduate degree in Communications. During my time in New York, I interned for the first blind judge appointed to the federal bench. Before law school, I spent a year working for an entertainment law firm in Beverly Hills. Even when I was in law school, I managed to find the time to intern with the TV litigation department at NBC Universal and complete a full time federal judicial externship in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. After graduating with honors from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, I spent the first few years gaining extensive experience litigating employment disputes ranging from wage and hour class actions to cases involving sexual harassment, disability, discrimination, and wrongful termination claims. In addition, I worked on employment based immigration visas.
In 2012, I earned my mediation certificate and found joy helping clients settle cases outside the Courtroom. I love mediation because it is less expensive, more efficient, and often more effective than the court system. I hold an active bar license in Colorado and California.
I live in beautiful Denver, Colorado with my husband and our fun-loving dog. When I have the time, I enjoy hiking, skiing, and working on my book."

The Smalls talks to Little Place Labs!
"Computing on the edge of space"
Listen in as your hosts Just Nate and DK are on location at the Catalyst Campus in downtown Colorado Springs and speaking to a bunch of amazing startups. The boys talk to Bosco Lai the CEO and Co-Founder of Little Place Labs.
The Story
Little Place Labs was formed in 2020 with deep roots at the University of Oxford. They all love space and tech, and share the passion of building solutions to improve people’s wellbeing, help the environment and change the world for the better.
The Vision
Today’s satellites capture huge amounts of raw data but downlink is slow and only minimal onboard processing is done. It therefore takes way too long to get meaningful insights on time-sensitive events like natural disasters, Illegal activities, defense, etc. They strive to break this bottleneck and make delivery of insights to decision-makers and responders in near-real-time.
The Tech
They build software applications utilizing advanced machine learning techniques that can be deployed on remote sensing satellites optimized for the Space environment, aka “Satellite Edge Computing” and will allow raw data to be processed immediately as it is captured, and insights to be developed in orbit.

The Smalls talks to Kall Morris Inc.
Keeping Space Clear for All -
Listen in as your hosts Just Nate and DK are on location at the Catalyst Campus in downtown Colorado Springs and speaking to a bunch of amazing start ups. The boys talk to Troy Kall, one of the co-founders and Director of Operations for Kall Morris Inc.
KEEPING SPACE CLEAR FOR ALLKall Morris Inc (KMI) is an orbital debris research and solution development company focused on Active Debris Removal (ADR) for keeping space clear for all. With proprietary software, exclusive hardware, and critical partnerships, KMI aims for a commercially viable system for ADR of legacy assets: significant debris objects that are often unprepared, uncontrolled, and potentially unrecognizable.
Orbital debris is growing exponentially, threatening critical in-space infrastructure the world depends on. Debris can be basketball-sized objects capable of destroying a single satellite or massive rocket bodies that could set off cascading collisions of untrackable, lethal shards of debris.
Debris cannot be overcome if every piece of debris requires a collection spacecraft to deorbit with it. KMI has developed a system to allow our spacecraft to remain in orbit through multiple debris collections, creating the potential for economic, environmental, and physical benefits in orbit utilizing the previously dangerous debris.
KMI is dedicated to working with organizations, academics, governments, and all motivated people to eliminate orbital debris by delving deeper into the problem and innovating solutions to secure the safety of humankind in space and to better our way of life on Earth.
