Danielle LaPorte
This conversation is with someone who was part of the inspiration for this show. I had gone to one of her events when she was in Los Angeles, and I asked her if she would be on my show. She graciously obliged, and our conversation has been among my most memorable.
I was incredibly nervous when we recorded this interview (which you can actually hear in my voice if you listen closely). The conversation was ultimately everything I hoped it would be and more, and I received a ton of positive feedback when the episode originally aired.
If I could ask every human on the planet to listen to this conversation, I would.
She’s a member of Oprah’s SuperSoul 100 and the former director of a future studies think tank in Washington, DC, where she managed a team creating global scenario plans. She now speaks about the intelligence of the heart.
Her most recent book is How To Be Loving…when your heart is breaking open and the world is waking up. She is also the author of The Fire Starter Sessions, White Hot Truth, and The Desire Map, and producer of dozens of meditation kits and online programs for spiritual support.
Her podcast, With Love, Danielle, often ranks in iTunes’ top 10 for wellness. Her website is visited by millions of people each month, and was named one of the top 100 Websites for Women by Forbes.
I invite you to be inspired as we think outside the lines...with Danielle LaPorte.

Bridging the Political Divide - Part 3 (Susan)
When I started the show back in 2015, Donald Trump was a mere blip on the political radar, and the political landscape wasn’t nearly as tumultuous as it has become in 2023.
Through the political chaos in the US and a once in a lifetime pandemic, I took a break from the show for a while because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to say, or how to use a platform like this at all, let alone responsibly.
My goal with the show has always been to provide a platform of inspiration and to challenge perspectives on how we see the world, and more importantly, how we might make it a better place. For everyone. So it is through that lens that I return with new episodes featuring conversations on topics that matter to me, with folks who have a similar perspective on life.
And when I do give voice to those who might not share my perspective on something, my goal is to drive the conversation forward in a civil, productive way—and from the perspective that we are all sharing this crazy experience called life, together. And the goal for all of us should be to leave things better than we found them.
I hope that’s how you see the world too—and I hope that these conversations will leave you better and smarter.
And while I still intend to speak with experts on current and interesting topics, I'll also be taking a different approach to some of my conversations moving forward. It's great to hear from the experts--but what do everyday folks think--and where are their voices in the conversation?
So before I dive back in to my typical one on one interviews, I wanted to speak to some every day people about what is on their mind. I really enjoy this format, and I have a few ideas for other topics in the coming months.
In this first series of episodes, I'm speaking with three thoughtful and intelligent women in my life about the current political landscape here in the US (where I live and record my show).
You'll hear from three different people from diverse backgrounds--all of whom have a unique perspective on where we are, where they would like for us to be, and how we might get there.
Politics is an incredibly important topic in our lives, regardless of your background.
It's a topic that was rather taboo once upon a time--but not anymore. We've become so polarized and dug in to our beliefs that it's often hard to hear through all of the noise.
I thought it would be interesting to step away from the traditional political pundits that you are likely used to hearing from, and instead turn our attention to everyday Americans, their stories and insights on how we might reconcile our differences.
I know these can often feel like treacherous and impossible times. But I believe that Together, through thoughtful and intelligent conversation, we can find the common ground that unites us, and work toward a brighter, more inclusive future for all of us.
I thank you for listening, and for daring to think outside the lines...

Krysta Masciale - Rebranding America
The upcoming election in the United States is the most important of our lifetimes. I thought it would be interesting to have a conversation on this topic, but through a slightly different lens than you might be used to in these polarizing times, and I hope this conversation is thoughtful in that respect.
My guest today is back for her third time on the show. She’s dedicated the last 20 years of her career studying, building and reinventing brands. Her work as an executive brand strategist gives her a unique perspective on the language used to describe an experience and the behavior that follows. And It’s inspired her latest project, Rebranding America: A new show premiering this week on YouTube—that explores question, “Who would America be if it actually became who it said it was?”
Please enjoy my conversation with Krysta Masciale.

Mark Gober : An End To Upside Down Thinking
It’s people like my guest today, who are out there helping to facilitate just some really intelligent conversation on the topic of consciousness— he’s written an incredible new book entitled AN END TO UPSIDE DOWN THINKING, where he explores some of life’s most challenging questions about who we are as human beings.
In the book, he explores the idea that, contrary to mainstream assumptions, consciousness is NOT produced by the brain.
This book has been endorsed by well-known thinkers like two time Nobel prize nominee, Dr. Ervin Laszlo, Harvard Neurosurgeon and #1 New York Times bestselling author, Eben Alexander MD. Even Goldie Hawn said that while reading this book, “New pathways of the mind will open and perhaps shift your perception of reality, time and space, and above all consciousness!”
I can tell you that I first discovered him on another podcast, and knew immediately that I wanted to have a conversation of my own with him.
I really hope that you enjoy this incredibly insightful conversation…as we think outside the lines with Mark Gober.
Guest Bio:
Mark Gober is an author whose worldview was turned upside down in late 2016 when he was exposed to world-changing science. After researching extensively, he wrote An End to Upside Down Thinking to introduce the general public to these cutting-edge ideas – all in an effort to encourage a much-needed global shift in scientific and existential thinking.
Mark has long sought answers to life’s challenging questions. As an undergraduate at Princeton University, he was drawn to astrophysics because he wanted to understand the universe. But because due to commitments as a member of Princeton’s Division I Tennis Team, he decided that astrophysics would be too demanding. So instead of studying the invisible forces that govern the universe, he studied the invisible forces that secretly drive human behavior, getting a degree in psychology, focusing on behavioral economics.
After college, he explored the universe through books for fun. But it wasn’t until the summer of 2016 that he randomly stumbled across a series of podcasts that exposed him to some radical new ideas. Those ideas put into question the most basic assumptions about who and what we are as human beings. The more he researched, the more he realized that he needed to rethink everything that he thought he knew.
When he began relating to friends his research, they told him it changed the way they looked at life. Their lives started to improve. After he’d heard that multiple times, he realized it was time to share his research with a broader audience through his book and podcast so he could help more people.

Dr. Chris Hahn : Unbox Yourself
He’s written an amazing book entitled, “UNBOX YOURSELF”, in which he helps the reader to discover their passions and purpose in life.
This is the sort of conversation that continues to motivate me to do this show. And I believe you will feel immensely better after listening.
Its time to think outside the lines with Dr. Chris Hahn.
//
Guest bio:
I am a hopeless optimist - few things manage to penetrate my positive mindset.
Life is all about choices and I firmly believe that how we feel and think affects the outcome of each and every one of them.
Professionally I am a dentist, entrepreneur, inventor, author, speaker and coach. I use my problem solving gift and passion to aid other souls in unboxing themselves so they can live a life of greatness.
Success can mean just about anything - the meaning will change with time...
In my teens I attributed academic achievement to success, graduating as a Valedictorian from my High School. Shortly thereafter I graduated from the USC School of Dentistry, Magna Cum Laude, at age 24. Only a few years later I became one of, if not the youngest AACD Accredited Cosmetic Dentist in the World. I was climbing this ladder of success as quickly as I could and became a millionaire before the age of 30.
Then everything changed. I began looking at life a little differently. Contributing to the happiness of others, including myself became my focus. I studied happiness for many years and consequentially made many significant changes in my life.
Purpose, passion, freedom, peace and love overshadow any level of financial success anyone could ever achieve and this is where I dedicate my energy to now.
If you are looking to be infected with success, happiness, passion and purpose, then I am your vector.

Jürgen Schmechel : The Science Behind Relationships
His goal is to help create a world where couples live in loving, intimate and respectful relationships, enabling their children to grow up loved.
He is a keen observer of human psychology, a master in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Ericksonian Hypnosis and a certified Results Coach.
There are a ton of gems in this conversation, where we explore how our behavior takes place at both a conscious and unconscious level. My hope is that there is something you can take away from this conversation and apply it to a relationship in your life.
Its time to think outside the lines with Jürgen Schmechel.
Guest Bio:
Jürgen Schmechel was born 1960 in Hamburg, Germany as the second son to his parents. He lived, studied, worked and married in Hamburg – to then be raising two sons himself. In 2004 his family moved to Australia to learn and live in a different culture. Jürgen is a keen observer of human psychology, he is a master in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Ericksonian Hypnosis and a certified Results Coach.
Over the past 24 years Jürgen realized that he and his wife are doing things differently in their marriage from others. Some of their behavior was conscious, some more on the unconscious level. And with more and more relationships all around the world deteriorating, Jürgen decided to bring his wisdom and coaching to the people. He started his Inspiring Relationships only in January 2017, but already had so many discussions and sessions with people searching him out for advice and guidance.
His mission is to inspire thousands of men yearly to stay in loving, respectful relationships. Which has a ripple on effect to their Children and the World.

Lily Sanders: Truth to Triumph

Dr. Jacob Liberman : Luminous Life

Malcolm & Simone Collins: Pragmatist’s Guide to Life - Pt. II
The show is back after a brief hiatus, and I’m so excited to share these new episodes with you! As you know, my mission with this show has always been to help you design and live the life you deserve.
And my guests today want to help you do just that.
Their mission is to encourage self reflection and assist individuals in challenging their most deeply held beliefs without leading them to specific answers.
They’ve written an amazing book called, “The Pragmatist’s Guide to Life”, which helps readers take a deeper dive into self discovery, from the perspective that, “who you are is either who you chose to be or who you have allowed yourself to become.”
They are a married couple, who split their time between Miami and Peru, while running their travel companies.
I had a ton of fun with this interview, and I really think you are going to enjoy our conversation.
Its time to think outside the lines, for part II of my conversation with Malcolm and Simone Collins.
//
Guest Bio
Originally a neuroscientist focused on brain-computer interface and the evolution of human cognition (his work is on display at the Smithsonian), Malcolm Collins felt he could learn more about the way humans interact with the world and each other by pursuing an MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. There he met Simone, his wife and co-author, who at the time was Director of Marketing at HubPages.com, managing a team of 20,000 freelancers. Together they co-founded the art commission marketplace ArtCorgi.com, after which Malcolm became Director of Strategy at South Korea's most desired source of early-stage capital and Simone earned her graduate degree from Cambridge while working in VC. The couple now runs a number of travel companies (with a focus on Travelmax), splitting their time between North American headquarters in Miami, FL and South American offices in Lima, Peru.

Kimi Dawn : Surviving When the Struggle Is Real

Maura Sweeney : Live Happy - Inside Out
As a child, Maura dreamed of traveling the world, making new friends and publishing ideas to ignite and inspire the best in human nature and society. Though often kept indoors and groomed by parents for a career in law, she left the matrix at age 23 to pioneer her own path to happiness, passion and power. Following a decorated corporate management career and time as a home schooling mom, Maura set out anew to make her ultimate mark.
In addition to her book series entitled The Art of Happiness which is a story-based series to help others grow in self-awareness and move from victimhood to personal advancement and growth, Maura created the Foundations of Happiness eCourse (for those really intent on moving from Victim to Beneficiary, on changing their life perspectives; on seeing failures as opportunities for greatness; on discovering innate talents and more as seeds to desire and destiny) .

Inner Peace In Tumultuous Times (Joan Sotkin Part II)
In this episode, we continue the conversation on a wide array of topics; particularly the aftermath of the 2016 election, and how we can move forward. We talk politics, religion, consciousness, meditation, prosperity, and so much more.
And be sure not to miss part one!
Joan’s bio:
For the past 30 years, I have been examining alternative ways of dealing with life on many different levels. Defining success as merely making a lot of money and having social or career status has never made sense to me. As a result, I have been looking for something deeper and more meaningful and learning to integrate what I discover into my business and personal life.
Prosperity Place is my humble contribution to those of you who, like myself, want to experience the “more” of life while creating satisfying and prosperous lives. I don’t believe that it is possible to separate career and/or business development from personal growth because who we are expresses itself through whatever we do.
What you will find on these pages is the result of my search for physical, emotional, spiritual and financial comfort. I don’t pretend to have all the answers. What I do have is a series of learning experiences, the essence of which I like to share with people like you.
In the early 1980s, while attending 12-step programs including Debtors Anonymous and Codependents Anonymous, I began to understand the connection between emotions and the life stories we create for ourselves, including our finances. Years of working to release my own repressed emotions helped deepen my understanding of how we act out family-of-origin issues through our businesses and finances.
I love working with forward-thinking individuals who are willing to implement new ways of being with themselves and their commercial ventures. As I continue to learn and grow, my passion is sharing with others and helping them find both peace of mind and prosperity.
Santa Fe, New Mexico, where I live, with its expansive skies, friendly people, and abundance of healers provides me with the comfort and peace I have always craved. Thanks to the Internet, which I have been using since 1995, I can live in this wonderful town with my precious dog, Angel, and reach out to clients around the world.
Every afternoon, Angel and I walk at our fabulous dog park that has one-mile-long trails with a full view of the city. I offer an open invitation to anyone who wants to meet me at the park and walk with us!

Joan Sotkin : Inner Peace In Tumultuous Times
In her first appearance earlier this year, we discussed all things money, and if you haven’t heard it yet, I strongly recommend you go back and check it out.
In this episode, we touch upon a wide array of other topics; particularly the aftermath of the 2016 election, and how we can move forward. We talk politics, religion, consciousness, meditation, prosperity, and so much more.
And because there is so much to digest, Ive divided this episode into two parts.
This woman has lived so much life, and offers such incredible perspective. I promise you will find many gems in these conversations.
It’s time to think outside the lines, again, with Joan Sotkin.

Dave Sanderson : Moments Matter
defining moments that create a lifetime of purpose. After surviving one of the most high-profile aviation accidents in recent memory, Dave Sanderson built a career as a motivational speaker, mentor and author.
Guest Bio:
Dave Sanderson is an inspirational survivor, speaker, and author. His thoughts on leadership have made him an internationally sought-out speaker.
When US Airways Flight 1549, or “The Miracle on the Hudson,” ditched into the Hudson River on January 15, 2009, Dave Sanderson knew he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
The last passenger off the back of the plane on that fateful day, he was largely responsible for the well-being and safety of others, risking his own life in frigid water to help other passengers off the plane.
Despite the hazards to himself, Sanderson thought only of helping others and emerged from the wreckage with a mission: to encourage others to do the right thing.
That experience profoundly changed his life and today he travels the globe sharing his inspirational and motivational leadership messages to help people make a difference in how they do business and live their lives.

Susan Young : How To Allow
Guest Bio:
When I learned many years ago that we are creating our own realities with the thoughts we think, I was eager to share this information with others. And, I wanted to become an amazingly deliberate creator! Yet, trying merely to think more positively wasn't creating the results that I knew were possible and I felt stuck in my current circumstances. I had been successful at everything else I had tried, including graduating from Harvard Law School, practicing corporate law and taking great care of my family, and I knew I could find a way to take a more systematic approach to this Allowing business. I read about and tried every Law of Attraction process I could find and determined what really worked and what didn’t work for me. I realized that trying a variety of processes to raise my vibration whenever I remembered just wasn't effective enough. It was then that I realized that we all need ritual, a system of sorts, when it comes to creating deliberately, a system to keep us on track and to raise our vibration to a higher set point.
I found that the combination of making some basic commitments to myself and performing two simple daily rituals began to create dramatic results in my life. It is this simple system of two daily rituals, which forms the basis of the course and ebook “How to Allow,” that has created dramatic results for readers. I received more wonderful proof of the effectiveness of this simple system by having the ebook/course "How to Allow," recognized as Best of Books on Law of Attraction for 2012 and chosen as a Nominee for Best of Books on Law of Attraction for 2015. "How to Allow" has also been featured as a highly recommended book by Law of Attraction Magazine in 2015.
In addition to writing the "How to Allow" course and e-book, I publish articles on Allowing at www.howtoallow.net, provide individual coaching, and am a contributor to Madamesque Magazine as well as a number of other blogs. I have also appeared on Blog Talk Radio and Law of Attraction Radio on the subject of Allowing. I have been recommended as a top Law of Attraction Coach by Law of Attraction Magazine (2015). Coaching has become my true passion and I'm grateful to be able to share what I have learned with others.
