Listeners' Choice: It's All In The Mind
There is growing advocacy to empower the younger population to contribute and continue to strive for better representation given the extenuating challenges facing the world post pandemic.
Today’s youth are faced with issues of underemployment and unemployment in the wake of worsening insecurity and economic hardship.
The frustration is sometimes due to the fear of being judged or getting arrested in oppressive circumstances. In some situations, the youth have given up on education. In the case of Nigeria, millions of university students have had their education stunted by a lingering strike of public university lecturers.
Regardless of the situation, the youth are further challenged on how best to express themselves or how to make informed decisions. Having the right mindset is crucial at a time when there are more young people in the world than ever in the history of humanity.
In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️, Benny Finisher (Poet and Writer, Menace), Melvina Olisa (Future Lady Surveyor), Nkem Nwokolo (Student), Dhung Tsok-Nwok (Production Supervisor, Thinking Reimagined®️ Podcast) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) explore the myriad of challenges facing today's youth, how to turn the setbacks into opportunities, the life skills necessary to Thrive and how to start harnessing the power of the mind.

Boys To Men
There are mindsets existent, in many cultures, which ensure young men are constantly under pressure either because they cannot define masculinity without the concept of provision and control of others; and sometimes in the cultural concept where a man is not being considered a father until a male child is produced.
This mindset is presented to boys from a young age as they aspire to be supermen who are unbothered by traumatic events, emotionally disconnected and focused on egocentric actions to prove their prowess in educational, business, social and political settings.
Defining masculinity using descriptions not limited to those showcasing strength, boldness, assertiveness, being 'man up' are some of the societal expectations and definitions of being a real man.
A man is expected to know what to do, when to do it and how to do it, bearing in mind that they should not express pain and to view those who do as weak, unreliable…soft.
In this male-only focused episode of Thinking Reimagined, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Tolu Oni (Finance Professional), Benny Finisher (Performing and Creative Artist) and Stanley Evans MBE (Deputy Chair, British Business Group- Nigeria and Environmentalist) have a heart-to-heart conversations on the need to explore the myriad of stereotypes in order to shift the mindset for well- informed ‘Boys To Men.'
