Listeners' Choice: It's All In The Mind

We begin this podcast with an oration from Benny Finisher as we prepare to dialogue with Youth.
There is growing advocacy to empower the younger population to contribute and continue to strive for better representation given the extenuating challenges facing the world post pandemic.
Today’s youth are faced with issues of underemployment and unemployment in the wake of worsening insecurity and economic hardship.
The frustration is sometimes due to the fear of being judged or getting arrested in oppressive circumstances. In some situations, the youth have given up on education. In the case of Nigeria, millions of university students have had their education stunted by a lingering strike of public university lecturers.
Regardless of the situation, the youth are further challenged on how best to express themselves or how to make informed decisions. Having the right mindset is crucial at a time when there are more young people in the world than ever in the history of humanity.
In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️, Benny Finisher (Poet and Writer, Menace), Melvina Olisa (Future Lady Surveyor), Nkem Nwokolo (Student), Dhung Tsok-Nwok (Production Supervisor, Thinking Reimagined®️ Podcast) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) explore the myriad of challenges facing today's youth, how to turn the setbacks into opportunities, the life skills necessary to Thrive and how to start harnessing the power of the mind.

Listeners' Choice: The Intricacies of Introversion

Today, there are growing negative biases towards people who are introverted by nature and advocates advise that there is a need to shift the narrative and recognise that introverts bring much dynamism to the table as good listeners, analysts and Out of The Box thinkers. Understanding the differences distinguishing introversion and social anxiety is critical to harnessing the skill-set and communication styles of introverts. Furthermore, the biases placed on genders can further hinder the abilities of introverts to Thrive in a world which celebrates extroversion. It is therefore necessary to create  an atmosphere of belonging  which is crucial in a neuro-divergent setting from the classroom to the workplace. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️, Carol (Lewis) Stewart MSc, FInstLM (Executive, Career, Leadership Coach, Facilitator, Trainer and Speaker), Ms. Abi (Founder & Executive Director, PATISS), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️ and Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) discuss  inclusive communication skills and tips for a greater understanding and acceptance of introverts within the society.

Listeners' Choice: The Good Girl Syndrome

Listeners' Choice: The Good Girl Syndrome

The Good Girl Syndrome is a mindset imposed on girls and women to the detriment of their sense of Self, success and overall well-being. It is masked as socially acceptable norms - from behaviour to presentation and how to interact amongst others, to name a few. Often girls are told not to climb trees or to sit in a less suggestive manner because it would attract the wrong type of attention. Ladies are taught not to express strong views so as not to sound aggressive. They are taught to modify their attire and speak with a particular tone to avoid being labelled as rebellious. The Good Girl Syndrome is the unwritten sensible script which follows a woman throughout her life beginning with parents, then through school and then with her partner - those who expect her to have blossomed from a ‘good’ girl to a ‘good’ woman, who then becomes a ‘good’ mother. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Ms. Vena Ramphal (Dancer Instructor, Author, Philosopher), Ms. Abi (Founder & Executive Director, PATISS) and Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) place ‘The Good Girl Script' on the table of reason, dissect it and explain why it must to be torn up and discarded to ensure equity, inclusion and belonging in society and the workplace.

Listeners' Choice: Protection From Ransomware

Now, more than ever, we leave digital footprints everywhere, and we are more prone to cyber attacks especially as there is an increase in online activities post COVID. Records in 2021 show that about $6 trillion was lost to cybercrime and this could cost the global economy up to $10 trillion in the next 3 years. With ransomware attacks occurring every 11 seconds, there's now an urgent need for protection against threats to destroy or withhold a victim’s critical data unless a ransom is paid to an attacker who often deploys phishing emails, messages with suspicious links, codes or demands to change passwords. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Nadim Chidac (Chief Operating Officer, coollink.ng), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador) and Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) highlight the precautions to take and how to identify exposure to ransomware, while avoiding spooky links, replicated website addresses, and pop-ups, as they confirm that securing our data is as important as securing our homes.

Listeners' Choice: Employability, Mentorship and Sponsorship.

The post-covid workplace ranges from hybrid, to remote to in-person offices and communities, as company culture and engagement has been disrupted. Furthermore, the Great Resignation and issues with mental health have become focal points for employers and employees. Securing and retaining talent are priorities yet employability and the rising figures of the underemployed remain critical in the global marketplace. For a growing number of graduates, particularly on the African continent, their ability to compete with the best in the world when they lack the skills, tools or network required for career growth and success remains problematic. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️, Bisi Alimi (Executive Coach, Public Speaker, International Development Consultant & Media Commentator), Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Felix Effiong McFilarge (MC, Actor, Comedian, Entertainer) and Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) share their thoughts on the future of ‘work’ and how curiosity can aid young minds in the areas of employability, networking, mentorship and sponsorship.

Living Your Best Life

Living Your Best Life

Year 2022 has been one that has witnessed global inflation, a host of economic downturns and social insecurity, with millions still reeling from the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the tough times, being the best version of yourself requires living your best life. While relationships are very key to human experience, people must be in the right mental and physical states, otherwise the quality of life is absolutely diminished. Resilience in a Changing World

Resilience in a Changing World

We live in a world where the rate of change is unprecedented and we are learning to adjust to the effects of the pandemic as well as civil unrest caused by political instability in different countries and wars, especially the Ukraine invasion. The rate of inflation and its effect on the rising cost of living is of much concern as are other factors not limited to global warming and the widening economic gap. Building resilience can provide coping skills and tools to mitigate the onset of anxiety, depression, isolation and other mental health disorders associated with trying to manage unforeseen situations prevalent in today's society. Resilience, as a word, has become part of our vocabulary since the pandemic, allowing us to evolve over time, particularly in times of uncertainty. It is like a good muscle we develop which comes with a sense of purpose, gratitude, tolerance, empathy and compassion. It is to be appreciated as a great support system and fuels the curiosity to be creative. Highlighting the tools you need to build your innate resilience, in order to thrive and Live Abundantly!®️, as well as those necessary for refining successes, this topic is passionately discussed by our discussants: Annelies Gentile MA, PCC (Coach, Speaker, Author, and Artist), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️, Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria and Global Ambassador, Savvitas-UK) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator).

The Societal Menace

The Societal Menace

Violence, particularly Gender Based Violence (GBV), is increasing at an alarming rate globally. Predominantly, the focus on GBV is on women (and girls) due to their disproportional exposure to rape and domestic violence. However, GBV covers a much broader spectrum which includes human trafficking, gender/sexual bias and discrimination, female genital mutilation and child marriage. Recently, the demonstrations in Iran depict girls taking off their hijab and cutting their hair in protest and unison for the biased treatment of women which led to the death of a young activist. In the U.S., the reversal of Roe versus Wade has placed the reproductive rights of woman at the forefront of discussion s from boardrooms to communities. Whilst the female gender continues to bear the brunt of indiscriminate assaults on women, particularly in Africa, we must acknowledge men also fall victim to abuse and due to societal and cultural biases and stereotypes suffer adversely like their female counterparts in silence. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️, Benny Finisher (Performing and Creative Artist, who showcased an amazing new play, Menace, tells the stories of the violence against people including men), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️, Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria and Global Ambassador, Savvitas-UK) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) discuss how to fix our broken patriarchal society which permits the Menace in society. They highlight the need to create awareness and advocacy for the elimination of the wonton violence, beginning in the school and community, and the need to push for gender parity as well as the importance of encouraging women to achieve more and to become decision makers negotiating for policies and educational programmes aimed at reducing the level of gender based violence.

Listeners' Choice: Women as Primary Wage Earners

The world has come a long way since the days of Jane Austen, when the primary goal of any self-respecting woman was to find a husband with enough means to keep her in lace bonnets and save her from destitution. Despite this, many don’t seem to realise that since men and women can be educated and elevated to positions of authority at work, they are able to contribute to their homes and societies as ‘Changemakers’. In this episode Ms. Abi Sotuminu, Founder of PATISS, Nifemi Oguntoye, actor and filmmaker, Peter Armand Boyo and Dr. Ama, Executive Director, Live Abundantly®️share their thoughts on how women have always contributed to the household in more ways than one and sometimes as primary wage earners.

Regeneration of Resources

Regeneration of Resources

We have altered the course of nature through our actions and disrespect of the planet. The earth is at a tipping point, the environment is polluted, cities are densely populated, resources are degraded and biodiversity is being disrupted to the point that the future of the planet as we know it is bleak. The daily calls to action by environmentalists and stakeholders with concerns related to climate change, urbanisation, pollution and deforestation to name a few, continue to highlight how irresponsible humanity has become in protecting and preserving our natural world. In the midst of an overwhelming amount of waste, the regeneration of resources has become inevitable for everyone. We must learn to live in unison with nature, adopt alternative ways of living which reduces our heavy reliance on natural resources, whilst trying to reduce our carbon footprint and turning interventions such as bioremediation to restore polluted lands and water. This episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️ invites Prince Kayode Oguntayo (Agripreneur and Director of Fowobi Farms Limited), Stanley Evans MBE (Deputy Chair, British Business Group- Nigeria and Environmentalist), Dr. Eucharia Nwaichi (Associate Professor, Environmental Biochemist, Vice Chair Organization for Women in Science in the Developing World, Nigeria), Akintunde Disu (Founder, PoP beach club, Environmentalist), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️ and Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) to examine ways to actionably address the climate change crisis through the conscious collective responsibility to educate and create greater Earth awareness through lifestyle changes and implementing and adhering to policies which mitigate the destruction of Mother Earth. Restoring humanity’s respect for the planet for the sustainability of future generations is, and must be, our priority.

Youth as Agents of Peace and Justice

Youth as Agents of Peace and Justice

The 20th of October 2020 is now largely regarded as an unforgettable day in Nigeria's history as it marks a key moment in a period which saw millions of youth across the country act as agents of peace and justice against police brutality, injustice and bad governance. Two years on from the Lekki Massacre that was unleashed on that fateful day, the status quo continues as questions still transpire as to the high price paid by the youth activists. Despite the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nigeria, youth…, the people continue to call for transparent leadership, justice for victims, clarity in tackling corruption as well as the long-awaited police reforms. This episode of Thinking Reimagined revisits a prior episode and Nifemi Oguntoye stirs up thought-provoking conversations between Ese Ayaebene (Counseling Psychologist), Bisi Alimi (Executive Coach, Public Speaker, International Development Consultant & Media Commentator), Hajara Tunde-Osho (PRO, NAPTIP Lagos Command), Babatunde Oguntimehin (Researcher, News Central TV), Victoria Clement (Teenage Advocate) & Moses Omoghena (Head of Marketing and Communications, Citiserve Ltd.) as they discuss the youth becoming more involved in political leadership and steps that should be taken towards ensuring that the dreams of a great nation become reality in the near future.

Menstrual Health & Wellbeing

Menstrual Health & Wellbeing

There are campaigns to hand out free condoms. Where are the campaigns to distribute free menstrual products? Every month, women and girls, globally, have to experience periods and all that comes with it (before, during and after) and only a handful of organisations and countries seem to realise the impact of a girl/woman’s menstrual cycle on her life and productivity. We live in a patriarchal society where the rights of women to access essentials for health and wellness, particularly for menstruating girls and women, are negated by the socio-cultural biases and taboos existent in many societies thereby limiting their participation in activities offered in the greater society. For many girls, their attendance and participation in school is limited during their menstrual cycle and this shows that gender inequity is in-built in a system of inequality. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️ Podcast, Dr. Enibokun Theresa Orobator (MD, MSc) (Medical Advisor, Global Public Health Physician and International Leadership Academy (ILA) member), Ngozi Ezi Ashi (Executive Director at Development Alternatives and Resource Center (DARC) and Trustee, Live Abundantly!®), Dr. Ama Onyerinma. (Founder, Live Abundantly!®️, ALLIED EMPOWERMENT®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️ Podcast and Chair, British Business Group - Nigeria) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) demystify menstruation as they share stories and insights on the importance of building confidence in girls as their body changes to recognise that menstruation is a natural biological process for girls and women.

Listeners' Choice: Positive Body Image

Listeners' Choice: Positive Body Image

Social media with an estimated 3.5 billion users worldwide has become a major influencer in today’s global culture. The social networking platforms are filled with people presenting themselves in their altered and/or enhanced light, thereby creating false impressions which might cause some to have a negative body image and low self esteem. Body shaming is rampant and image issues, which affect women more than men, are further heightened. In the glossy world of media, poor body image and eating disorders are enforced by certain cultures and societal standards of beauty have had a detrimental effect on people’s mental health and well-being.

Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome

We have all experienced it at some point in our lives, a sense of doubt and questioning even though we have all the skills, knowledge and education. Imposter syndrome is not believing in yourself - your capabilities and competencies. It is an internal fear of being unmasked despite your achievements and potential. This internal turmoil which is not gender limited can have more devastating consequences on women in the work or educational setting. It is said that men boldly camouflage their imposter syndrome whilst women are more apt to acknowledge it. Regardless of the circumstances, imposter syndrome presents in multiple ways and can affect performance, self-confidence, curiosity, motivation and a sense of well-being amongst others. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️, Amal Hassan (Technopreneur & Founder, Outsource Global), Benny Finisher (Poet and Writer, Menace), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) and Nifemi Oguntoye earnestly discuss the nuances of Imposter Syndrone, strategies to combat imposter syndrome, the need to celebrate successes however small and develop the resilience to cope with this know enemy within - imposter syndrome.

It's All In The Mind

It's All In The Mind

Japa Syndrome - Human Trafficking

Japa Syndrome - Human Trafficking

Migration is a natural phenomenon but the growing global challenges and the exodus of people from their homelands in search of greener pastures has resulted in the escalating rate of human trafficking and irregular migration. The insidious global crime disproportionately affects women and children at a rate of 71% compared to men (21%). The syndicates and individuals behind the lucrative crime of sourcing and sending “people cargo” take advantage of vulnerable, desperate, poor, displaced and marginalised persons simply seeking a better life. Today, technology and the digitalisation of the world has created a borderless network for this dehumanising and exploitative underworld enterprise which operates within the shadows of communities, businesses and governments. And it is very disheartening because technology, in a way, enabled us to come together and continue to connect during the pandemic. This has also allowed for victims to come forward to share their stories in order to discourage others. As we observe World Day Against Trafficking In Persons, statistics indicate an increase in human trafficking which has been exacerbated by the pandemic as millions of innocent people looking for a better standard of living are reduced to a commodity at the hands of their perpetrators. In continuation of our podcast series on the 'Japa Syndrome,' this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️ invites Mrs. Comfort Agboko (Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Lagos Zonal Command), Jerry Adelu (Entrepreneur, Migrant Returnee), Chylian Azuh (Founder, Female Return Migrant Network), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) to offer further insights into the push factors for emigration, the trauma as well as viable solutions to mitigate the factors driving the Japa Syndrome, irregular migration and human trafficking which have been fuelled by insecurity, poverty, economic stagnation, climate change but driven by the desire to Live Abundantly®️

Japa

Japa

'Japa' is a Nigerian slang which means 'running swiftly out of dangerous situations' and is widely used to describe migrating from the country, Nigeria in this case, in search of greener pastures. Everyday, Nigerians leave in droves for the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and a list of other countries including neighbouring Niger. Libya has become a connecting hub to Europe. The uniqueness of this concept is also in the irregularity and the conditions within which their ‘travelling out’ takes place. In 2021, the World Bank statistics indicated 50% of Nigerians youth yearned to migrate. This begs the question: Do they truly  understand the dynamics of migrating and the new host countries? Do they have the tools and mindset necessary for life in a new country? How shall they survive and assimilate in the new environment? In what manner are they leaving the country? Are they being trafficked? These and many other questions are top of mind in this endemic global phenomenon. Taking the global situation into consideration requires an examination of the economic, social and political struggles and  issues, particularly during the current global endemic, which is affecting the world in many unprecedented ways. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined, Mrs. Comfort Agboko (Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Lagos Zonal Command), Deborah Duropitan (Tech Expert, Law Graduate), Jerry Adelu (Entrepreneur, Migrant Returnee), Chylian Azuh (Founder, Female Return Migrant Network), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) offer unique perspectives and share experiences and solutions to address the factors which drive irregular migration and human trafficking.

Boys To Men

Boys To Men

The notion of how to live respectfully in harmony with others and the environment is foreign to many boys and men.

There are mindsets existent, in many cultures, which ensure young men are constantly under pressure either because they cannot define masculinity without the concept of provision and control of others; and sometimes in the cultural concept where a man is not being considered a father until a male child is produced.

This mindset is presented to boys from a young age as they aspire to be supermen who are unbothered by traumatic events, emotionally disconnected and focused on egocentric actions to prove their prowess in educational, business, social and political settings.

Defining masculinity using descriptions not limited to those showcasing strength, boldness, assertiveness, being 'man up' are some of the societal expectations and definitions of being a real man.

A man is expected to know what to do, when to do it and how to do it, bearing in mind that they should not express pain and to view those who do as weak, unreliable…soft.

In this male-only focused episode of Thinking Reimagined, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Tolu Oni (Finance Professional), Benny Finisher (Performing and Creative Artist) and Stanley Evans MBE (Deputy Chair, British Business Group- Nigeria and Environmentalist) have a heart-to-heart conversations on the need to explore the myriad of stereotypes in order to shift the mindset for well- informed ‘Boys To Men.'

Positive Body Image

Positive Body Image

Social media with an estimated 3.5 billion users worldwide has become a major influencer in today’s global culture. The social networking platforms are filled with people presenting themselves in their altered and/or enhanced light, thereby creating false impressions which might cause some to have a negative body image and low self esteem. Body shaming is rampant and image issues, which affect women more than men, are further heightened. In the glossy world of media, poor body image and eating disorders are enforced by certain cultures and societal standards of beauty have had a detrimental effect on people’s mental health and well-being. Self-esteem and self-confidence largely depends on how you perceive yourself, how others view you and how you think others perceive you. The Challenges of Childhood

The Challenges of Childhood

Child Labour is a disturbing and traumatic occurrence in many communities, particularly in the developing world, where the joy of childhood is stripped away from a large number of children.  It is not uncommon to see a girl in her school uniform on the street corner hawking produce or a boy working at the mechanic shop or building site when he should be with his peers at school. According to statistics, Nigeria has the highest number of child labourers in West Africa, an estimated  15million as of 2021, but the pandemic has exacerbated living conditions thereby making it commonplace to see children as beggars, menially paid apprentices or ‘hustling’ on the streets all for the sake of basic shelter and a meal or to supplement the family income.  In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️,  Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Mrs. Comfort Agboko (Zonal Commander, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP) and Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly!®️) explore the trauma and brutality of child labour and the long term effects on children and the society. How do we as stakeholders address this issue in order to implement and abide by laws established to protect children?

Digital Siege

Digital Siege

In 1993, the 3rd of May was declared World Press Freedom Day to reflect on the fundamental principles of press freedom, the need to defend those working in media from attacks, and a day to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the course of carrying out their work.

Today, Journalism has come of age at a time where 'everyone', as an individual storyteller, faces increasing digital surveillance from state authorities.

A classic example of digital siege and censorship where there is a thin line between truth, propaganda, and sensationalism, was when the Nigerian Government in 2021 lifted the ban on Twitter operations in the country after 222 days and economic losses of about N500 billion.

In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Sheyi Owolabi (Brand Designer, Visual artist, Photographer, and Art Curator) and Adebola Williams (Storyteller, Blogger, Content Strategist, and Editor) speak on the need for more responsible journalism, where professionals are walking through a minefield at midnight, just to ensure that the mission to tell the truth remains alive against all odds.

Protection From Ransomware

Protection From Ransomware

Breaking The Bias

The world finds itself at an inflection point as bias continues to affect how people are perceived and treated thus impeding the attainment of equity, diversity, inclusion, social justice and a sense of belonging.

The art of being a man is taught both consciously and unconsciously to boys as they mature into full-grown men. For men, the pressure to hide emotions in public is a burden, making little or no room for vulnerability.

While the capacity to cry is human, there is a varying acceptance of emotional crying, especially for men, a mindset shaped by social norms.

It's the 2021 International Men's Day and on this episode of The Thinking Reimagined ®️ Podcast, in an all-men panel session, Nifemi Oguntoye examines the issues surrounding men and their emotions with Mr. Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador), Nelson Ayaebene (Senior Programmes Editor, TVC News), Funsho Alufoge (Political Analyst and Human Rights Activist) and Jerry Adelu (Executive Director, Voice of Migrant Association) as they discuss why men should actually cry.

Advancements in technology and global economic growth have seen life get better for millions of people in the last few decades, but all that progress is quickly fading away, no thanks to climate change disproportionately affecting developing countries of the world.

Most of the developed nations are said to be largely responsible for the problem and yet unwilling to take responsibility, escalating existing disparities in access to clean water and affordable food, and leaving millions of people, especially women and children, vulnerable and badly affected as they contend with the new realities brought about by the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This episode of The Thinking Reimagined ®️ Podcast has Nifemi Oguntoye engaging with Ayomide Olaogun (Future Lady Surveyor), Ms. Abi (Founder and Executive Director, PATISS), and Dr. Ama (Founder and Executive Director, Live Abundantly!®️) on the urgent need to take action on climate change and break the cycle of inequality.

If you have been keeping tabs on the global news in the course of the year, then you would have noticed months of extreme weather, creating record-breaking unprecedented tempestuous storms across the globe.

From the floods in Germany, to wildfires in Turkey, heatwaves in India, and droughts in parts of Africa, the world is running out of time to heed the call to protect the Earth we share.

With human survival largely dependent on the environment, the impact of climate change cannot be over-emphasized, with destroyed biodiversity, empty farmlands, ruined livelihoods, and battered economies to show for it.

On this episode of The Thinking Reimagined ®️ Podcast, Bunmi Obanawu (Senior Progammes and Communications Manager at Fight Against Desert Encroachment (FADE) Africa/Co-founder of African Arts and Media for Earth Initiative) and Monica Fatogun (Environmental Consultant and Host, Mean Greenie on YouTube) join Nifemi Oguntoye to discuss how irresponsible humanity has become in protecting nature and what it would take to heal the world.

Nigerians Amassing Degrees in Europe To Avoid Having To Return To Nigeria

Nigerians Amassing Degrees in Europe To Avoid Having To Return To Nigeria

According to statistics, one in every three Nigerian is employed, and for those who are, job satisfaction is unsatisfactory in terms of pay and work conditions . Perhaps this is why many take their chances to study abroad rather than remain at home.

While the industry of accepting foreign students is a source of revenue for host countries in terms of rental accommodation charges, school fees, and having students who can study and work at the same time, the result for Nigeria is the brain drain of capable people and resources.

To meet up with immigration and residency laws, Nigerians now chase multiple degrees, some out of desperation to stay abroad, having to remain content with the reality of surviving on menial jobs.

In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️ Dr. Ama, Executive Director, Live Abundantly ®️, and Ms. Abi, Founder, Patiss®️ takes a look at the opportunities and downsides of having to school abroad as a means to an end.

Ring The Bell™️: Investing in Our Children (Part 2: Controlling the Content)

The pandemic has exacerbated the incidences of abuse, stress and poverty on children as a rising number of parents are overwhelmed with the daunting task of caring and providing for their offspring. In many instances, abuse is disguised as affection and as child neglect is on the rise, survival is the key as the role of parents as providers often fails.

Children are exposed to more R-rated movies with inappropriate content. The youth are also having to face the harsh realities of life even earlier. Statistics show that there is a rise in sexual violence, teenage pregnancy and disengagement amongst children and young adults. There is a sense of collective responsibility that is absent from parents and the wider community.
