We recognise that this path is not necessarily going to be an easy one. It requires some commitment and action on our part. We will go through some tough terrain, some real life challenges.
It needs energy and dedication to keep going even when it gets tough.
In our experience, spending time with others, talking and thinking through situations and possible solutions together, is helpful in increasing our own creative energy in how we face our challenges

The different types of grief and loss

Everyday Self-Care during the pandemic

Relax in seconds?!? 11
When we started this series almost 2 weeks ago, we did not expect the #anxiety levels in our country to escalate as they have. As we use these exercises to regulate our autonomic nervous systems, we are able to access areas in our brain that we need in times of crisis to #makebetterdecisions.
In video 11 of our #relaxinseconds series we invite you to do a condensed version of Jacobson's #progressiverelaxation in less than a minute. If you missed any of our earlier #relaxinseconds videos, use the hashtag to find them, and see which other quick methods to #regulateyournervoussystem work for you.

Relax in seconds?!? 9
In number 9 in our series on Relaxing in seconds we activate our #proprioceptors in standing. Proprioceptors are in your joints and give you a sense of where you are in space. Activating this sense can be useful to bring you back into the here and now when anxious thoughts are running away with you.
Our online "Control your anxiety course" starts 17 July 10.00 - 12.00. More details here: https://fb.me/e/1SE0c9HqK

I remember this from my OT studies, which I admit is many years ago. In the meantime there is a lot of information about the role of the #vagusnerves in #RegulatingYourAutonomicNervousSystem. I found the ideas in the document at this link https://sass.uottawa.ca worth exploring.
If you are ready to spend more time on controlling your #anxiety, sign up for our course starting on Saturday 17 July. https://fb.me/e/1SE0c9HqK

#Deeppressure has been shown to help #RegulateAutonomicYourNervousSystem, decrease the #stress hormone #cortisol and increase the production of #serotonin and #dopamine, the so-called happy hormones. Everyone is different, so experiment with the length of time you use this method for, and see what works for you. Perhaps you can curl up under a heavy blanket while you are taking a break with a relaxing movie, series, podcast or book? If you would like to check out the videos of these methods, have a look at our Instagram and Facebook posts and let us know which method works best for you by using #relaxinseconds!

Relax in seconds?!? 5
Join us in this fifth method of #relaxing in seconds in our preparation for our course starting Saturday 17 July at 10 a.m.
Trust your skeleton to do the work as you scan the muscles in your body from head to toe. Try develop an awareness of where #tension usually sits in your body. Maybe you can focus more on that area with one of the other exercises?

Relax in seconds?!? 4
Here is the fourth in the series on how to #relaxinseconds as preparation for our controlling #anxiety course starting on 17 July. More details here: https://fb.me/e/1SE0c9HqK
When you first try and #relax a muscle group it can be helpful to tense it first. If you are not sure about how to relax your pelvic floor, try squeezing your muscles to stop an imaginary flow of urine or passing of wind, then relax. This works for many men and women, but it may take some practice.

Relax in seconds?!? 3
If you tend to carry #tension in your jaw and facial muscles, or you know that you grind your teeth at night, give this a try and let us know if it works for you... To check out practicing peripheral vision and diaphragmatic breathing listen to our previous posts.
