So you want to move to Canada? With Funke Fasunon

So you want to move to Canada? With Funke Fasunon

Nigeria is hard, there’s no sugar coating it. While migrating is not new, it has become more popular to see internet articles, posts etc advising young Nigerians to leave the country and the options available. Of particular interest is Canada. The number of Nigerians who obtained permanent residency in Canada has increased from a little over 4000 in 2015 to 12,600 in 2019. For this episode, Funke & I discuss settling as an immigrant in Canada. Funke is a lawyer, wife and mother of two boys. Find her @olaogunfasunon on social media. Let’s Talk about Sex, Baby! With Dupe Kuku

Sex is always a riveting subject, depending on the context and who you talk about it with. Lately, we see more women owning their bodies, or expressing the beauty of their sexuality through art; specifically through writing. My guest Dupe Kuku a.k.a Abeni is a writer of erotica and we explore the topic together. Find some of her stories on Facebook.com using #Abenilinks. They say men are simple beings, but are they really? In this episode, my friend Kofo gives his opinion about what men want; men want to be shown love, to receive gifts and be appreciated, etc. We also discuss areas for women to improve in their relationships with men. Kofo is a Digital Media professional living in Lagos. He enjoys good food and the occasional banter on social media. Don’t Talk About my Body- with Jola Oluwa.

Boundaries are important people! Some things that are better kept to yourself; like unsolicited comments or advice about a person’s body. In this episode, Jola and I discuss our experience with body shaming and the unhealthy obsession with women’s bodies. Are Women an Endangered Species?

Are Women an Endangered Species?

Rape and other forms of violence against women and girls have been a hot topic for weeks now, with many women speaking up demanding justice. As much as we hear these reports, countless cases still go unreported. Those that do get reported are subjected to hate and different tactics to keep them silent. But #WeAreTired and we will not be silent! In this episode, I talk about being an ally and advocate. Do you or someone you know need help? Or do you want to be a volunteer? Dating During the Lockdown

Dating During the Lockdown

We’ve been on lockdown for 4 weeks ( 7 for me, because my office closed before everyone else) and normal human interactions have been re-created. Some are lucky to have their partner with them- others not so much. People have found creative ways to connect , spending time on dating apps, drinking wine on zoom dates, etc. Some were brave enough (or foolish) to “shack up” with a stranger for the period, others are looking for a good match for various reasons. I talk about my experience using two popular dating apps during this Covid-19 period and if they’re worth it. Have you ever used a dating app, or tried any other form of online dating? What were the results? Send me a voice note on the Anchor App, or connect with me through any of the channels below: Email: thisnigerianlifepod@gmail.com Twitter: @dark_lawyergirl

Covid-19 is Sucking Out All the Air

Covid-19 is Sucking Out All the Air

It’s 26th March 2020 and most Nigerians don't know the whereabouts of their President; but that’s not new. What's new is that we have been forced to sit at home and think about what is important in our lives. "Normal" has changed and is still changing along with the rest of the world. In this episode, I talk about how I'm coping with the Covid-19 situation, working from home, living alone and making the best of things, staying calm and trying not to lose my senses. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Remember to wash your hands with soap and water, don't spread fake news and connect with the right sources for information on Covid-19. How have you been coping? Send me a voice note on the Anchor App, or connect with me through any of the channels below: Email: thisnigerianlifepod@gmail.com Twitter: @dark_lawyergirl

Na single we single- With Jola Sotubo

As the Naija saying goes, “na single we single, we no kill person”. Jola and I discuss one of Nigeria's favourite past times: policing single people. Opinions expressed here are ours; please don't tight the world to your chest (if you don't know what that means, find a Nigerian to explain to you). This episode focuses on women. Stay till the end of the episode to hear a special message from me :)
