This week on Thoughts Off The Stem I'm talking about quitting smoking cigarettes. I have tried for years to stop smoking. The last couple months I actually have a handle on it and haven't had a cigarette in over 40 days now. In this sesh I detail what it was like to quit, how I prepared to quit, some tips I used to quit cigarettes and some of the tools I used to prepare myself for success.

When you're quitting smoking cigarettes, although it's a physical addiction you must prepare mentally for the journey you're about to take. Yes it's a journey. Think of it like Zelda's quest. You get really excited about starting out, then quickly get frustrated over the lack of progress, but ultimately you keep going because you want to see where the story takes you.

I found a method for me that seems to be working really well. Hopefully after listening or watching the sesh these tips and tools can help you smoking cigarettes and start you on your tobacco less journey.

I would like to say that I'm not putting this out there because I'm on some self righteous kick. I'm just offer some advice and empathy to those that are trying to make this monumental change. It's tough enough to go through this transition on your own. Hopefully this will help those people work their way through the ups and downs of the first few days and weeks of quitting cigarettes.

I also know it's been a short time since I quit. Some people are going to be skeptical I know. I can tell you this is the umpteenth time I've tried to quit and this time is different. I don't have any urges for a cigarette nor do I think about it. I'm perfectly content without my little cigarette buddies.

This sesh is a bit long winded but I really wanted to make sure I did a thorough job of explaining myself even if I did over explain a little bit. I hope you enjoy the sesh and if you are quitting I hope something in here helps you achieve your goal of removing cigarettes from your life.

This week on Thoughts Off The Stem. We went to the KIND summer fair! it was awsome!

By we I mean Tyler from the shop and myself of course. Tyler was previously on Seshisode 99. For those who think he might look familiar.

Through work we were lucky enough to get a couple tickets for day one. So this sesh we are recapping the adventure that was our journey to KIND.

The day was amazing. It was one long smoke sesh, a stoner christmas if you will. There was way too much consumption going on through out the day to list it here. We do a pretty good job of rattling everything off during the sesh. Which means you're gonna get a pretty good list of enjoyable day time smoke you can enjoy in large groups.

As we work our way through the sack of free samples we each got. We'll take you on a guided tour of what to expect when attending a cannabis fair. Peppering in a few stories about the goings on and the people we met.

Potheads are definitely the most accepting and inclusive groups of fun havers I've ever been around. So being able to sample a bunch of new strains, try some existing but "new to me" strains and share the experience with such a large group of strangers, was amazing.

You might say it rekindled my faith in humanity a little bit. Like the best of the best sesh circles, this one's got all the giggles.

This week on Thoughts Off The Stem podcast I'm talking about being a cannabis infused parent on Seshisode 108 - Parenting, Cannabis and a Smoke Buddy! Starting the show with a bong hit of Nugz Smallz Indica Pheno number 23. It was about 23% thc. I also rolled up a few pre rolls of the same. Why? because I am working through my stash jar and these few nugs needed a good smoking. Like I was saying, this week I'm taking on the topic of cannabis infused parenting. A lot of people have a poor view of those who partake in cannabis and raise children. Since my whole existence, at this point, revolves around weed, the very least I can do is pass along some of the things I've noticed and learned in my parenting journey. I stick to the adage that it's better to be honest then hide things from people. So I am very open and honest with my kids when discussing anything. I also try my best to preserve their innocence. However their life circumstances have give them incite into things that kids might not be exposed to on a regular basis. So again I have had to be very available in the topics I am willing to discuss with them. I do my best to protect them and offer them some insight into how the world really works. It's a fine line I tell ya. Since we're discussing the things most important to us. I thought it would be a good lead in to the weed facts this week. Which are about cannabis and your pets. We care deeply about our pets, after all they are family. So we want to care for them the best way we can. This has lead people to see if cannabis can help their furry family members, as it dose our not so furry ones. No matter what you decide to do with your pets, I want to make it clear that, in no way am I telling you, you should give your pets cannabis products. We are just discussing an article that discussed some research findings under controlled testing with animals and the ingesting of THC and CBD. I recommend that you discuss any thoughts you have with your vet. Having said that, I thought this article was a good starting point with some basic starting information about giving your pet cannabis products.

This week on Thoughts off the Stem I'm ranting about TikTok, Mental health and Role Models. As a girl dad I feel like they are getting the short end of the stick and we as a society need to step our game up. To start the show/rant I'm smoking Cookie Cake by Green Seal a 33.8% Sativa. To follow up and mellow out a t bit after blowing a ton of hot air. I'm smoking a home roll of Sour and Citrus from General Admission, another Sativa at 24%. So basically all the energy in this sesh. Now like I was saying... This sesh is a rant. I'm spouting off on a few beliefs I have. As well as some hopes and observations i have for, and made of, this next generation. I had an experience on TikTok that urked me so much it got me thinking about the state of role models. Especially for my daughters. As much as I think girls need better role models in the media. We all need to be better role models for those who succeed us. There is and has been a clear issue with logic and common sense on mass in the past few years. If we keep heading in this direction we are definitely going to end up like the movie Idiocracy. We are acting like idiots. Honestly when has it ever been acceptable to have a conversation with some one while taking off your plants! Then taking that video and putting it on the internet for attention. On this episode of Thoughts Off The Stem, I'm smoking concentrates. Starting the show off with a couple hits of Sour Green Mango Live Rosin, by EarthWolf Farms. It's a Sativa and comes in at 59% THC. Mid sesh I got a hankering for Wagners Blue Lime Pie Diamonds. It's a Hybrid coming in at 82% THC and it amped me up. Not only am I reviewing these wonderful concentrates, but I also took some time to Review some accessories including, the L'il Dipper dab straw and the Yocan Pillar. It's all the flavour and all the highs in easy to use compact smoking accessories.

A special shout out to Msiku Frozen Lemon Shatter, which I didn't get to try this sesh, but thought I should mention as I had mentioned it in the show. It's definitely worth the try. It's a Sativa, coming in at 84.1% THC, full of flavour and one of the more social highs I have experienced. Especially in a concentrate.

People never cease to amaze me. As high as I get off concentrates I can confirm there has never been a time when my reality has been altered enough to pose the question... Hey! I wonder if this fish bowl will fit up my butthole?

That was not the case for the feature of this Seshisode. In fact it's quite the opposite. The people featured in this sesh, posed similar questions then followed through with some action. Unfortunately for them those actions led them strait into the emergency room then on to the X-ray lab and most likely laid out on an operating table in order to reclaim the objects logged in their holiest of holies. Of course I have many questions about the thought process that proceeds the activities that lead to such insertions. Join me as we discuss the weirdest things people have stuck up their butts!

Since we are talking about things reclaimed from human suitcases. I thought it would be fitting that we discuss how to reclaim previously used concentrates. The removal of small bits of debris for future use is always exciting even if it is a little messy. Retrieving concentrate reclaim, however, is way more worth while than trying to pry a beer bottle out of a butthole with a wire hanger. So, in this weeks Weed Facts I'm giving you a brief over view of what reclaim is and Nine steps to removing reclaim from your concentrate accessories.

This week on Thoughts Off The Stem I'm trying out some new sativa's. In the bong I've loaded up Sour and Citrus by General Admission at 23% THC. The pre-roll is a the Slapz Wrap by Nugz a blunt at 20% THC. That's right I'm combining citrus flavours and sativa's this week in order to stay energized!

You know that feeling you get when you walk out of an action movie. The one where you think you're the baddest dude on the planet? Me too. Man did I find myself in an eye opener of a situation a couple weeks ago. I parked right in the middle of a SWAT lead sting operation. Dude, let me tell you. All those thoughts of how much of a bad ass I thought I might be. Right out the window man. It's a wild story, hope you enjoy it.

This episodes Weed Facts revolve around an article about members of the cannabis industry meeting with Justin Trudeau to discuss changes they would like the government of Canada to make in order to progress the industry. The resounding answer was to remove the unnecessary and excessive financial burden the system has imposed. Hopefully the discussion actually yields some change. We need it.

Another aspect to some of the issues the industry faces is the capping of edibles. Meaning edibles can't be potent, basically. Adults want to be able to choose for themselves. They don't want to be told what to do. This is a case where in essence we are being treated like kids. I get the concern of kids getting hold of some infused candy, but really isn't that our responsibility as good parents. To educate and create awareness around the things we do and the reasons we do them?

Dude for real, did you know there is a town in the Yukon that serves a Toe Cocktail? For the Big Foot lovers out there, there is a place in Canada where Sasquatch is protected by law. Also we also have the oldest rocks in the world. Take that earthlings!

This week on Thoughts Off The Stem, it's the 100th Seshisode.  Celebrate 100 episodes with Beau and I.  Join us for a constant cloud and 100 minutes of consecutive puffing.  

To start the sesh off right we have some Cuban Linx by Tribal at 27.7% THC, in the bong, which I hit a couple times.  I've also rolled up a few more Cuban Linx joints that we smoke through.  In between the Cuban Linx rolls, we smoke some Mocha OG by Green Seal at 24%THC.  The theme of the sesh was Sativa as everything we smoked needed to keep us energized.  It worked mostly.  

As we worked our way through some really potent petals we discussed a variety of topics.  We started off discussing what it would be like to take a cruise, how big the ships are and the fact that it's basically an island with a destination.  Which leads nicely into Beau's scuba diving story which sounded like a great time.  I really hope his cruise goes well.  

I gave Beau the opportunity to tell his side of the stand up comedy club story.  I had discussed it on a previous episode and wanted to give him the opportunity to explain his perspective on the situation.  

Since we're having a smoke sesh celebration.  Of course I have to explain how dab rigs work.  Because of course I'm going to do a dab and I'm trying some diamonds in the yocan orbit.  I'm telling you, it's the perfect portable dab rig.  

Once the high started to set in we got all educational and talked about my experience with Slaughter House 5, the Kurt Vonnegut book.  Here's a hint, it involved a lot of weed and resulted in a completely changed perspective.  

We let you know our favourite types of weed, the reasons we liked indica's, sativa's and hybrids.  The differences between the highs and how Thc percentage doesn't really matter if you have a well cultivated plant.  We also take some time to review what we're smoking.  

As mentioned before we were smoking, Cuban linx, Mocha OG, but I am also adding in Wagners Blue Lime Pie Diamonds, in the yocan orbit.  Nugz Fresh Frozen Hash Resin, in the dab rig and Live Resin Hash from Green Seal in the journey pipe.    

We had to add in a little talk about what accessories help us achieve the ultimate smoking experience.  If I'm smoking joints it's gotta be glass tips.  There is a huge difference in flavour and experience when you use them.    

You know what the difference is between getting hooked on BT's vs Poppers?  Nothing they both end up making it so you have to have one every 15 minutes.    

Have you ever been serenaded with a dab song?  well stick around until the end when I do a dab and sing a song.  

You know this sesh is a pretty good bang for your buck.  You get a variety of reviews, a solid 100 minute smoke sesh with everything from flower to concentrates and few insights in to things you didn't know you cared about.

Everyone thinks they can do stand up comedy.  It's a totally different animal when you are up there on stage with a bunch of fresh faces expecting you to make them laugh.  To do stand up comedy you have 5 minutes to get the crowd on your side, then make them laugh.  It's not as easy as it looks.  Since I like a challenge and a good story I took a shot at being a comic in my twenties.  Meaning I tried it once.  It didn't go well, I never tried it again.  So I figured I would tell you the story.  

Let's follow that up with the time a friend blew up at comic right in the middle of his set.  Yup! We had to leave.  The audience was pissed and the comedy club gave us two tickets.  Weird I know!  Even more amazing was the fact that I thought the comedian was going to light him up.  Nope, he started debating the merit of his stand up act.  I thought, this isn't time for a debate.  It's time for a verbal beat down.  Well that didn't happen and I realized in that moment, we were watching a really bad comedian.  If you're gonna be a stand up comedian, it shouldn't matter what the heckler says.  You gotta light that dude up for interrupting your set.  Especially when they are way to drunk to be talking smack.  

Weed facts this week are all about vape carts.  How does that relate to stand up comedy?  It doesn't it, but the vape carts I use do give me the giggles so maybe.  Either way we're talking about what makes a good vape cart and what the primary ingredients in a vape cart are.  

Dude for real! Animals like to get high too.  This week is a list of 8 animals that regularly get high on psychedelics.  So next time you start getting all self conscious about your weed use.  Don't worry, animals get high too.  

This week I'm smoking Organic Watermelon Z it came in at 21% THC from the Cognocente craft pack, made by BlkMkt I believe.  I'm pretty sure it was a sativa based on the terp profile and the high to be honest.  I got very expressive.  Any way that's what was in the bong.  For our joint we are smoking my favourite blunt.  Presidente by Lobo.  It is a hash infused blunt, complete with glass tip.  It is 30% THC, it's also a sativa and is a must if you like a really nice blunt.  Pick it up for special occasions.  

Aside from unveiling the Cognocente craft pack and all of its potential awesomeness.  I've decided to get hydrated.  Do you know how hard it is to get properly hydrated?  It's like a full time job!  I can't go cup for cup to get that H2O it's too much effort.  I need the lazy man's version of getting hydrated.  So let's talk about the one gallon jug I just bought.  

There is a bigger flex than optimal hydration.  It's true.  The dentist told me.  It's a well kept face hole.  That's right!  Get your mouth game on point.  I did and I didn't even need to start flossing.  Thank you Water Pik and your wonderful mouth cleaning massager.  Possibly the best investment ever.  

Keeping with the the theme of the sesh, which apparently is getting healthier.  The Weed Facts are all about recouperation, sleep and CBN.  As we all know, the key to a happy and healthy lifestyle is rest, hydration and oral health.  

The Dude for Real facts are quite the opposite even though they were motivated by the same intentions.  This week we are talking about some things and stuff, we thought were healthy back in the day.  However... They are not!!  

This week I'm smoking Nugz indica pheno #23 in the bong at 24% THC.  The pre-roll this week is Carmel's Animal Face infused blunt at 37%.   

I don't care how you identify.  If you're cool, you're cool, if your not, your not!  Call it toxic masculinity if you want.  Atleast I don't get butt hurt when someone miss uses words.  Give people time to adjust.   Stop stomping and shouting like mad babies.  Lets break this toddler mentality and move on, because this whole bickering bs is getting annoying.  There are definitely more important things to worry about any way.  Like a review of Carmel's Animal Face Infused Blunt.

New bong same herb.  Starting it off this Sesh with a massive bong hit full of Citrus Skunk by Green Seal.  It's a 24% THC sativa.  Hits you right in the eyes man.  Todays pre-roll is an un rated tester join by Simply Bare Organics.  It's definitely a hybrid, gets you nice and Mello with any earthy yet berry flavour.  It was tasty and did the trick for sure.

I don't know if you've ever been to a work related function hella high, but I did.  Recently the Kind winter fair was held in Toronto.  Being a budtender/shift lead I as lucky enough to get a ticket to day two.  Kind is the most popular cannabis magazine Canada at the moment.  They have been holding these festival/party/convention/trade show functions since 2020 I believe.  It's basically a place for industry people to schmooze try new products, get new products and pick the brains of their favourite growers.  

The best part of this whole situation was the expectation that you enjoy the experience to the fullest by testing everything.  It was the first time I got to fully enjoy a work function so high that a blow up igloo had my equilibrium all messed while I discussed the development process of one of my new favourite strains.  Black Markets Peanutbutter Mac.  It's one of the craziest getting high experiences I've had in a long time.  The whole conversation I spent it mentally trying to stop myself from floating away and it was perfectly acceptable.  

It was quite the experience especially when you take into account I had eaten 140 mg of edibles on an empty stomach about 20 min before entering the venue.  Dude when I say I was in my own little world I mean I was bopping to music that only played in my head.  My legs felt like slinkies and I didn't recognize any of the scenery on the walk back to our car.

I'm still smoking Citrus Skunk by Green Seal to open the show.  What can I say?  When I find something I like I'm loyal.  Also, it's just a really great sativa.  It comes in at a solid 24% THC.  Today's pre-roll is the very tasty Peach Rings by General Admission.  A resin infused, keif wrapped half gram joint.  I'm pretty sure it's a hybrid with a sativa lean.  It certainly sativa'd me up.  It was 38% THC and super tasty.  

There are a lot of good budtenders out there, but there are a lot of bad ones too.  It's frustrating when you're trying to make an impact.  Especially when the legal market is so young and we are still fighting old stigmas.  All I'm saying is, don't just hop in to the industry trying to score cheap weed.  Put some purpose behind it.    

This weeks weed facts are basically a mini discussion about the future of legal cannabis in Canada.  Let's just say things look good!  Let's hope the industry starts to balance out sooner than later and we can move on to easing up on the regulations.

This sesh I’m smoking Citrus Skunk from Green Seal at 24% THC, the perfect sativa, in my opinion.  Since I’m introducing you to “Kong” my new triple perk, triple chamber, 19” bong.  It had to be a strong sativa, or words would have been difficult.  The joint today is a pre-roll called Laughing Gas by Cookies, a Hybrid at 23% THC.  It lived up to it’s name for sure.  I definitely got the giggles.  With a little help from a Weed-A-Rita and of course Kong!  The Wee-A-Rita... A concoction 5 months in the making.  The total ammount of THC in this hillbilly coctail is 500 mg.

With all the booze flowing and puffing going on (we may or may not have started the dube fest earlier in the day), I only got through a glass.  Man did that pint pack a punch.  At certain times I couln’t contain the giggles and got emotional.  I had a very special guest on the show as well.  He’s been mentioned in previous seshisodes and I finally got him on to tell us some stories and rip on blog posts with me.

Dave IS here maaan!  I finally got my buddy Dave on the podcast.  Did  it go off the rails and turn goofy? Definitely.  We had a good time though, and even if none of this made any sense it was fun as hell.  It was a good hang and a great smoke sesh.  Hopefully the fun and the vibe comes through strong on this.

This weeks weed facts are a list of “30 stoner thoughts” - as always they start off on the up side of strong then fall off in a lazy marijuana induced haze.  Either way it was fun to watch dave rip on some of these like a grandpa scoleding a couple teenagers.

Dude for Real! Dave brought his own fact to throw out on the show.  Then we got into a list of 50 amazing facts.  Some were surprising, some were rediculous, but they were all entertaining.

This sesh I'm smoking Pedro's Sweet Sativa, by Color.  It is a 19-20% Thc Sativa, with a 2% Terpene profile that makes it smoke more like a 25% bud.  It tastes sweet, smokes full and smells like that weed you used to get as a kid.  I paired it with a little shatterizer shatter in the Yocan Armor pen.  The shaterizer shatter is a full gram for less than $50.  It has a 69% Thc content, but again, because of the terpene profile it smokes closer to an 80%.  Because of the terps, it's also pliable.  Unlike most shatters it doesn't break break and snap like other kinds.  It peels, so you can roll it into a ball like hash and add it to a join or just enjoy it in a dab rig or on top of the flower in your bong.  It is a very versatile shatter.

This sesh in the bong I'm smoking Color Cannabis, Space Cake an Indica at 23%.  In the joint with a glass tip, I'm smoking Up, Northern Berry an Indica at 23% as well.  Both of these strains were nice and tasty. They both smoked well in a joint or a bong.

I have been accused of having a  weed addiction.  I'm not so sure that weed is physically addictive.  I think it's a mental dependency.  What do you think?  

This sesh, I'm talking about addiction.  Not just whether or not weed is addictive, but, how a recent personal experience, gave me an intimate glimpse into what real addiction looks like.  I felt like sharing this experience might help those of you who are stepping up and trying to help a family member or friend avoid the grips of addiction.  Maybe even add a little insight into the steps you have to take.  The lengths you need to be willing to go.  The mentality you have to have to support that person.  Also, to let you know you are doing the right thing.  Even when it doesn't feel like it.  You may always be the bad guy, but you're interference can potentially help that person flourish.    I hope you enjoy the sesh and never have to deal with addiction in any form.

This sesh I'm still smoking the Bruce Banner.  Pretty sure the THC is 19-22%.  That's based on my smoking experience, nothing else.
