Most give thanks with Jupiter, and complain about not getting enough with Saturn. In this episode, I highlight an important distinction between these planets, and how to be grateful - even with Saturn.

Every year brings its challenges and rewards. Some years bring more challenges, and more rewards. 2023 is one of those years, it seems.    War, natural disasters, an energy crisis, and major economic adjustment–possibly even a major stock market crash after further inflation–it’s all happening!  But what is also happening is Saturn is moving from its conjunction with Pluto. This has reflected a particularly challenging period since the beginning of 2020.  Things are likely to progress in 2023 in ways 2020, 2021 and 2022 could not. The downside is that to move forward, many systems we hoped would return to normal must fall away completely, including the current economic one. What are the remedies for a weakly placed Sun in the horoscope? Learn ways to strengthen the Sun, either directly by taking some practical steps, or indirectly by strengthening planets which cancel the Sun's debilitation in Libra. 

The total solar eclipse on July 2, 2019 opened up the possibility for change, with the possibility of integrating the changes if we are more conscious. However, it could just as easily leave us unable to integrate parts of ourselves and create two types of shadows; the things we get addicted (North Node) and allergic (South Node) to. 

Although there are a multitude of reasons someone might seek an astrology reading, it really boils down to just three basic impulses. These are known as the three gunas of Vedic philosophy; tamas, rajas and sattva, and every question you ask in a reading has its basis in one or more of these. 

Ketu is seen by many Vedic astrologers to be exalted in Sagittarius. Although Ketu’s conjunction with Saturn in Sagittarius shows other complex dynamics, it is generally tipped in favour of wild abandon and ideological fervour. We must eventually move beyond our points of view to a more objective appraisal, just as Capricorn follows Sagittarius in zodiacal order. ​ 

Remedies are a big part of Jyotish. Traditionally, gemstones, mantras, fasting and charity are prescribed but you can also incorporate practical approaches to challenges in your horoscope. 

In this podcast, I offer two explanations of how the planets could influence us on Earth.

In April 2019, Jupiter stations at 0 degrees of Sidereal Sagittarius, thus remaining at this degree from March 29 until April 23. This is a gap in the zodiac, between Scorpio and Sagittarius; when we prepare for the worst (Scorpio) and hope for the best (Sagittarius) in relation to Brexit. ​Jupiter’s station in this gap reflects a breakdown and, as the biggest planet in our solar system, a dip in a sense of hope and optimism, particularly in relation to order and the economy.

In this podcast, I talk about how signs can polarize each other, especially when they involve the nodes of the Moon, and how to find a counterbalance between two extremes.
