The Voice Of Sin Is Loud, The Voice Of Forgiveness Is Louder Still

The Voice Of Sin Is Loud, The Voice Of Forgiveness Is Louder Still

Why Moses highlighted Babylon was built with bricks and not with stones, and why the choice between these two are made by each of use every day. And why Peter was given a new name by Jesus. •You get what you fight for, what you contend for, not what you want. ~Billy Burke •Which would I rather be—a brick in secular society or a living stone in the kingdom of God? Ultimately, no man or woman is happy unless they have found a way to contribute beyond themselves. ~Tony Robbins

To Wound Or To Bless

To Wound Or To Bless

-My father was an emotionally alive but suppressed man. We loved each other, but shared very few moments of real encounter. One time James Dobson interviewed us after we wrote a book together, God of My Father. In the interview Dr. Dobson leaned toward my dad and warmly said, “Mr. Crabb, you must be very proud of your son.” I struggled to maintain my composure. My father had never put into words that he loved me or was proud of me. I waited, not sure if I was stretched out on a guillotine or about to be crowned. My dad replied, “We have to be careful not to get big heads, but yes, God has used Larry in a variety of ways.” That was it. The blade dropped. It has been hard to get my head back in place. At that moment, I would have given anything to see Dad beam and say, “Dr. Dobson, if I had my choice of any man in history, I’d have chosen Larry for my son.” But he did not say that at all. (Larry Crabb) -I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. (Apostle Paul) -What the first three centuries of church history were really like (a time period marked by incredible violence, matched by even greater faith). -Max Lucado on the next twelve hours. -Two life changing questions. -The remarkable story of Paul and Michelle, two students who were cruelly written off by a teacher, who then went on to change many lives.

Your Beginning, Not Your End

Your Beginning, Not Your End

Your enemies thought your best days were over, but you were just getting started! My husband’s from five generations of preachers. I thank God for his rich blessings. And I’m from five generations of heathens. Thank God for the blood of Jesus. (Paula White) Over HALF of all a doctor learned in medical school is no longer valid after 18 months. All behavior comes out of belief. (Robert Kiyosaki) I began to shout at the top of my voice, day after day, confessing hour after hour, “My God meets all my needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ!” (Kenneth Copeland)

Praying For The Sick, Living For Christ

Praying For The Sick, Living For Christ

•I am _________ and I am here to pray for you and encourage you. •God is greater than your sickness. God can heal your body. God will get you through this. •“Lord, let your healing happen in this room. Satan, you must leave. You’re a liar, and your words have no merit. This man/woman/child is bought by God. We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.” (Dennis McDonald) •Jesus can move mountains, so he can and will act on your behalf. He loves you! So receive his love and his power. •Quit doubting the King of Kings and teacher of all teachers. Believe in him and step into the resurrection power that is already yours in Christ Jesus. He is who he says he is - believe him! •The Lord exposes our weaknesses so we'll come to him and find our rest and hope in him. He wants you to come to him and stop imagining terrible scenarios. Has he not brought you this far? •That's the creator of the ends of the Earth in your court! On your side! He is for you, not against you. Trust in him. Worship him. •Take your position in praise and prayer and he will set ambushes for the enemy. (Denalyn Lucado)

The Peace Child And The Song That Jesus Sang

The Peace Child And The Song That Jesus Sang

What will people do for money? Charles Miller offered a fortune to the first woman to have 10 children, and a nationwide race began. As Emerson said, "The gods we worship write their names on our faces. A man may think that his tribute is paid in secret, but it will come out." We need something more in our lives than temporal idols, no matter how enticing they may be. The New Testament offers an answer, referring several times to a specific song, one sung for centuries in the Middle East by the people around the continent, and by Jesus. When you know the song he sang, you will never look at him the same again (Luther had the song on his wall). Plus, why Bach initialed all his work with J. J. or S. D. A God-Bathed, God-Soaked, God-Intoxicated World

A God-Bathed, God-Soaked, God-Intoxicated World

What do you find in the desert? A mocking world, bent on hate and disbelief? Or something else, something precious, something divine, something bigger than life, satiating your thirst as you grow through the trials? In 1978 Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn described a world "split apart" due to self-centeredness. Having spent 11 years in the gulag, his speech was given at Harvard. Some booed, some listened. In WWII a statue of Christ stood, the hands having been destroyed by bombs. Billy Graham would use the illustration to say that people of faith are to be the hands of Jesus to the world. Then there is Gypsy Smith, who a hundred years ago offered advice to those wanting spiritual revival; "Go home, lock yourself in your room, kneel down in the middle of your floor. Draw a chalk mark all around yourself and ask God to start the revival inside that chalk mark. When He has answered your prayer, the revival will be on." We end with James Loder, who shares a story of a powerful personal miracle. He was a Princeton professor, and after the experience he could hardly stop crying tears of joy the rest of his life, becoming known as the "weeping professor." He found a way, and you and I can too, to live in a "God-bathed, God-soaked, God-intoxicated world."

Be Made Whole Beyond Your Wildest Dreams

Be Made Whole Beyond Your Wildest Dreams

In the Old Testament people asked, "Please save." The same word in the New Testament meant, "Salvation is here." The word for salvation is the word "sozo", which means to be whole spirit, soul and body. Jesus often would tell people their faith made them whole, not simply prepared them for heaven, but in the here and now. At the end you will hear perhaps the most powerful story of grace you will come to hear. Plus, one writer for Christianity Today on lessons learned from being in a psych ward as a patient; the meaning of triumphant entries in the first century; the 3 things followers of Jesus are promised; one woman on being abandoned by her husband and her true heart's cry; and three words to repeat any time you are feeling desperate.
