What And When Should We Inject Into An Osteoarthritic Knee - With Bilal Barkatali And Eos Active
Injections for Osteoarthritic Knees is a big, evolving, controversial topic. On the one hand, emerging evidence suggests the cheap, easily available steroids are damaging to joints, on the other questions remain over effectiveness of more expensive injectables like Hyaluronic Acid and PRP. Combine that with Physiotherapists having lost the rights to inject PRP and the landscape is turbulent to say the least. Bilal Barkatali discusses all of this with Jack in what will absolutely be seen as a very well nuanced and balanced conversation that assesses the current state of play and provides real information on who to consider for which injectables. Thank you to EOS Active for sponsoring this episode. Find out more about them HERE: https://eosactive.co.uk/

Have MSK Clinicians Been Complacent In Dismissing Hyaluronic Acid - Chewing It Over with Jim Carr and EOS Active
Hyaluronic Acid is commonly lumped in with other injectables like PRP, Steroids, stem cells and so on. In some ways of course it is similar, the indications and method of delivery are not miles apart. Should we be thinking about it differently for Osteoarthritic Knees however? Jim Carr of Eos Active is here to Chew It Over with Jack and open up this conversation to make sure we are not dismissing potentially beneficial treatments for Knee OA which is difficult to manage! A huge thank you to Eos Active for sponsoring this episode, find out more about them HERE: https://eosactive.co.uk/ Stay tuned at the end for a sneak preview of Physio Matters Session 104 where Jack talks in detail about injectables with Bilal Barkatali!

Session 103 - Medial Offloader Knee Braces with Giles Leeming and Ossur
Jim was just a little excited to indulge in one of his favourite topics for a full podcast - Osteoarthritis. Ossur produce a wide range of limb products, of particular interest are their medial offloader braces for knee osteoarthritis. These provide a very real option as part of a management program for this tricky condition and Jim wanted to delve deep into how and why they might work. A lot of ground covered as he discusses with Giles the construction of the braces, how they work and who they might work for, improving compliance/tolerance and the cost implications. You can find out more about Ossur here You can also contact them for more information by email ukinfo@ossur.com or phone 03450 065 065 Don't forget to like and subscribe to the podcast, if you have 10 seconds why not leave a review!

YouMatter Session 31 - I OWN A Business, Not I AM The Business with Helen Preston and Nicola Graham
Nicola Graham and Helen Preston are both Physiotherapy business owners. They each have their own version of this, having made choices about whether or not to still work as a clinician, and how they wish to be perceived, and how they wish to exert their influence in healthcare. In this session we discuss, the acquisition of business skills when you've never been taught them, a shift in personal identity and the way others might see you as you take on business ownership, and we have a more philosophical discussion around leadership and who might emerge as the future symbolic leaders in our profession.

YouMatter Session 30 - Visibility For The Happily Invisible with Sara Price
Jazz hands videos and monologues of your wisdom triggering unwanted attention from trolls. If this is your impression of marketing then no wonder you're avoiding it. Invisibility is so much more appealing. Sara Price has another way. There's no sugar coating or kidding that you don't need to be visible to grow a business, but she has some wonderful ideas and suggestions to make it a more comfortable experience for you and infinitely more enjoyable for your audience. And to get you seen by the people that really need you. more here: mehab.co.uk

Session 25 - Perfectionism - How Do We Break The Cycle, And Not Ourselves? with Sarae Pratt, Thea Jolly and Harriet Waley-Cohen
Of course we're perfectionists. We learn what is 'correct' and then we try to function in the world of messy, unpredictable humans who throw curve balls every half hour!
Perfectionism isn't just about having high standards. It's when you pin your self-worth to the attainment of those standards.
When we decide something within us is unnacceptable, it becomes abhorent in others and we exercise judgement.
Until we are prepared to look at the external environment of capitalism, consumerism, social media comparison, perfectionism will continue to thrive within us and between us
