You don't need to live a life filled with chronic stress. We actually aren't meant to live this way and the damage stress does to our minds and bodies can be significant.
Did you know that the stress hormone cortisol not only causes abdominal fat to accumulate, but it also enlarges individual fat cells?
Stress is known as the “the silent killer” because it can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, chest pain, and an irregular heartbeat.
Stress can even alter blood sugar levels, which can cause mood swings, fatigue, hyperglycemia, and metabolic syndrome, a major risk factor for heart attack and diabetes.
I am motivated to help everyone looking to improve their health by reducing stress.

Episode 62: Taking Care of Yourself Physically and Mentally After a Significant Loss
Taking Care of Yourself Physically and Mentally After a Significant Loss
This broadcast is perfect for anyone who has and is experiencing a loss, or someone who has a friend or loved one experiencing loss.
Loss of a loved one, dear friend, pet, job, relationship, body function, and home are just a few examples of how we can feel loss and experience grief. The loss creates a hole in our lives, a gaping crevice in our hearts, instability, lower confidence, and even fear of the unknown. How will we ever make it through this?
Everyone will experience challenges associated with loss in their lifetime. Logically, we know this. There's no way to get away from it. Yet when loss enters our lives, our minds and heart still "feel" the pain.
I've experienced loss many times in my life. Pets, family, relationships, career, a business, my health, and most recently - my husband. Each one creates a different feeling within me. Each loss is handled differently.
When I look back on all the losses prior to my husband passing away, I realize that I rebounded in ways that were not supportive of my well-being.
Tonight, I will talk about ways to support your mind and body during a period of loss and grief. Ways to help you find joy in what feels like darkness and emptiness. Way to help your body stay healthy and get even healthier.
I will be speaking from experience as well as interchanging between my Integrative Health Coach and Personal Training hats.
I hope you can join me!

Episode 61: Walking the Journey of Grief - Dave's Story
I decided that tonight is the night I needed to come back and restart my live broadcast/podcast. Release all outcomes, utilize courage, open my heart and fully step back into the world. I have been absent for almost 7 months. May 17th was my last broadcast.
I have thought about how best to do this. I've thought about it over and over and over again. The only way I could do so authentically was to talk about what happened to my husband Dave. My hope is that through this broadcast, his passing and my telling his story, we can save lives. And I truly believe we can.
I am also hopeful that as I share my journey with grief, how I have coped, and how I have cared for myself will also help others that are walking their own path of grief.
Dave was (and still is) a joyous light. His spirit was and is that of love, unconditional love, gratitude, grace, service, you name it! A very kind soul! With his spirit in mind, I choose to broadcast this message in a way that will be uplifting and bring hope.
It's time to step into my new future.

Episode 56: All About Mushrooms with Guest Jeff Chilton
I really enjoyed speaking with my guest, Jeff Chilton! An expert on mushrooms and how important they our for our health!
Jeff was raised in the Pacific Northwest, studied ethno-mycology at the University of Washington in the late sixties and started working on a commercial mushroom farm in Olympia, Washington in 1973. During the next 10 years he became the production manager, responsible for the cultivation of over 2 million pounds of agaricus mushrooms per year and was also involved in the research and development of shiitake, oyster and enoki mushrooms which resulted in the earliest US fresh shiitake sales in 1978.
In the late seventies he was a founder of Mycomedia, which held 4 mushroom conferences in the Pacific Northwest. These educational conferences brought together educators and experts in mushroom identification, ethnomycology, and mushroom cultivation.
During this period Jeff co-authored the highly acclaimed book, The Mushroom Cultivator, which was published in 1983. In the 1980’s he operated a mushroom spawn business and in 1989 he started Nammex, a business that introduced medicinal mushrooms to the US nutritional supplement industry. He traveled extensively in China during the 1990’s, attending conferences and visiting research facilities and mushroom farms. In 1997 he organized the first organic mushroom production seminar in China.
Jeff’s company, Nammex was the first to offer a complete line of Certified Organic mushroom extracts to the US nutritional supplement industry. Nammex extracts are used by many supplement companies and are noted for their high quality based on scientific analysis of the active compounds.

Episode 53: Embracing The Valley with Guest J Nadia Headley
"Embracing the Valley" with Guest J Nadia Headley.
I am excited to have Nadia Headley join me once again on Tough Love Tuesday. This time, she is joining me as a soon to be published author! Her book, "Embracing the Valley" is a must read. I have been blessed to be an advanced reader and was able to glean much wisdom from its pages. We can assume that living in the "Valley" means failure, that only reaching the mountain top and staying there means success. However, Nadia challenges us to see things a bit differently and to embrace those "valleys" as they are an important part of our lives and of who we are.
Nadia is deeply empathetic, kind to a fault, highly energetic and hopelessly optimistic. She has been through so many phases of life. There have been exhilarating highs and unimaginable lows. Somehow, she always manages to see the good in moments when the bad is overwhelming. Those small glimpses of hope empower her to withstand and fuel her to continue. It all boils down to the immense support she has been fortunate enough to receive from so many people. At the end of the day, it's about people. When she was graduating as a member of the President's Society, the highest honour society at St. John's University and when she was battling breast cancer; when she was traveling the world and when she lived in fear of a psychologically abusive ex; when she was enjoying the beauty of her family and when her family was at the food bank; when life was high or when life was low, the right people were always in place to help her enjoy the feast and endure the famine.
Hailing from the most easterly Caribbean island, Barbados she named her business Twenty One Fourteen Consultancy services to commemorate the dimensions of her island: 21 miles long by 14 miles wide. As a proud Caribbean woman of African descent, she has also lived in St. Vincent, USA and Canada, sharing her light and bubbly spirit everywhere she goes.
As a Social Development Specialist, having served as the youngest United Nations Coordination Officer in Latin America and the Caribbean, she is diplomatic, poised and operates with the highest level of professionalism. As the founder and trustee of Small Enterprises for Education and Development (SEED) she has seen the ins and outs of nonprofit start up and intimately understands the challenges faced on the impact level. She has added many transferable skills to this breadth of experience, making her service offering to clients surprisingly comprehensive with a one-stop-shop boutique of services for her highly focused niche. Nadia believes in creating space for others and employs a roster of consultants who support clients, providing them with meaningful work and opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.
Most of all, Nadia just loves to laugh and is determined to pass a better world on to her daughter. Nadia’s big audacious dream is to build an environmentally and economically self sustained parallel school system in the Caribbean. Until then, she continues to focus on youth development and education in the Caribbean and on a global movement to encourage more visionary women to tell their stories to unleash their own power.
For more information on Nadia's new book, go to www.embracingthevalley.com

Episode 52: A Closer Look at Sugar
This is one of the most IMPORTANT Tough Love Tuesdays I’ve hosted yet!
THE CASE AGAINST SUGAR!
There are MANY misconceptions about sugar in the health industry today.
Some include:
All sugar is bad
Sugar-free means healthier
You need to intake sugar for energy
Sugar is easy to spot
Sugar is only in sweet foods
All sugars are created equally
These, among others, are false.
The reality is sugar is harmful to our bodies. There are safer alternatives, and it may take a little investigative work to truly recognize the amount of sugar in your diet.
Join me for Tough Love Tuesday to learn how to recognize different kinds of sugar, how they affect your body, and why this has become such a public health problem.

Episode 51: Rewriting Your Story - Reframe Your Narrative and Transform Your Life
REWRITING YOUR STORY - REFRAME YOUR NARRATIVE AND TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE
You're the lead character in the story of your life, you're also the narrator.
Your script is made up of many different parts that change over time, and the meaning of your experience can vary depending on your perception.
Tonight, I will be discussing how you can gain perspective about your own perspective, and how the stories that you tell yourself shape your reality. These stories have the ability to empower us or disempower us. Our narratives can be different dependent on the part of our lives we may be thinking of. In some areas, our narratives are strong and powerful setting us on a path of success. In others, they can be the opposite.
Luckily, narrating our story is something we do every day - and with that, we can make a choice as to how the narrative will impact us.
Tonight I will give you valuable techniques that you can begin applying right away to create life-changing narratives!

Episode 50: Know Your Worth
KNOW YOUR WORTH
"Know Your Worth. You must find the courage to leave the table if respect is no longer being served." - Tene Edwards
I stumbled upon this quote the other day while scrolling through my LinkedIn stream. It jumped out at my as if to say, "You need to do a broadcast about me!!!" So I saved the image to help me remember.
This quote speaks to me in many ways. I believe it's intent is to speak of respect in relationships with other people. I also see where it can speak to your own relationship with yourself and with your food.
In my and Ingrid Lauw's book, Your Personal Journey with Food, we dedicate several chapters to just this concept.
Tonight I will discuss how impactful it is when we no longer serve self-worth and respect to ourselves.
I'll also bring you some golden nuggets from the book Your Personal Journey with Food to help you step into your courage, "leave the table you are at" and design a new "table setting" that supports you, your relationships, and your body.

Episode 49: Breaking Up with Self-Sabotage
Breaking Up with Self Sabotage
Stop Self-Sabotaging!
Do you have a talent for self-sabotage that you might not even be aware of?
Do you tend to focus on the negative?
Do you spend a lot of time worrying about the future, and what could go wrong?
Do you ever feel like all these thoughts might be holding you back from reaching your full potential?
Many of us can relate to these actions, and whether we recognize it or not, it’s likely that we act and think this way because we’re partaking in self-sabotaging behaviors.
Behavior is said to be self-sabotaging when it creates problems and interferes with our long-standing goals. When we give in and engage in negative thoughts and actions, we create problems in our relationships, at our place of work, and within ourselves.
Perhaps you’ve been telling yourself for years that your lack of “luck” in romance, career, or other life choices are due to your own unworthiness, lack of ability, or something else. I’m here to remind you that your mind is a powerful place, and it can work very hard to keep you from growing and progressing in the ways that you want to...if you let it.
My goal is to show you that it is possible to overcome self-sabotaging behaviors and give you the tools you need to get started in making a positive change in your life. Get out of your own way, get rid of counterproductive behavior, and learn how to make friends with your own worst enemy - you.

In this episode of Tough Love Tuesday, I will be giving tips on improving health by limiting environmental toxin exposure.
I will discuss common environmental toxins, explain the health risks they pose, and provide tips on ways to reduce your exposure to various toxins.
I have personally experienced several incidents from toxin exposure. From feeling like I had a horrible cold/flue to swelling of my throat and tongue. I believe it is so important to know what can happen if you are exposed to common environmental toxins.

Between 4%-10% of adults experience symptoms of acid reflux or GERD on a daily basis, and in Western countries, up to 30% of adults experience symptoms weekly.

Episode 42: The Benefits of Becoming a "Locavore!"
The Benefits of Becoming a "Locavore!"
Most people don’t put much thought into how their food is grown, treated, and delivered to their local market. This makes sense because many of us are able to walk into any major grocery store and find pretty much anything we want, any time of year!
Unfortunately, when we create a demand for food that’s out of season in our area, quality is often compromised.
If you’re ready to stop paying for subpar produce and tap into a diet that nature intended, don’t miss this broadcast.
Learn how just by sticking to nature's natural harvest schedule, you can have many benefits to not only your body, your wallet, (as well as the environment.)
By the time I wrap up the broadcast, you will be more knowledgeable in your understanding of why eating local (being a "locavore") and in-season is so beneficial for your health, and feel more confident picking out season items at the grocery store.

Episode 41: Check Your Habits - Learn How To Make Strategic Changes That Improve Your Life
Check Your Habits - Learn How To Make Strategic Changes That Improve Your Life
Want to learn some strategies about how to break bad, unsupporting habits and replace them with positive, more productive ones.
During today’s Tough Love Tuesday I will explain the psychology behind how habits form and discuss how to rewire the brain for the better.
Our daily habits form our daily routines, which make up the components of our day.
What would your day be like if you had a healthy meal for lunch at the office?
How would you feel if you were a little more active throughout the day?
What would your mental state be like if you could take back control over negative thoughts and replace them with supportive ones.
Willpower and discipline are like a muscle, they can be exercised and practiced and built up - they can also be forgotten.
By knowing the ins and outs about how your own brain works when it comes to forming habits and breaking them, you’ll have the tools to hack into your own mind and rewire it for the better!
Let's all build some new routines that benefit our minds and bodies!

Episode 40: Your Bones Matter! Protect Your Bones for a Healthier Future!
YOUR BONES MATTER. PROTECT YOUR BONES FOR A HEALTHIER FUTURE!
Our bones are one area of health we often take for granted. Little attention is given to the bones until a problem occurs, and by that time it's usually too late. Too many people don’t understand the complexities of bones and as a result, don’t realize some steps can be taken to prevent poor bone health. As we age, bone density naturally declines; however, with diet and physical activity, bone health can be maintained naturally throughout life to prevent breaks and injury. During this broadcast I will discuss the formation and components of bones and provide natural techniques for improving bone health. If bone health is important to you, don’t wait until it’s too late! Get started now!

Episode 39: Loving Fitness as You Age
Tough Love Tuesday - Loving Fitness as You Age!

Learning how to love a changing body as the aging process catches up to us is not easy, hence why it’s so important to invest in a solid fitness plan to make it feel that little bit easier!

Episode 36: Letting Go of Fear
Letting Go of Fear, Your Personal Journey with Food & Tough Love Tuesday
Are anxiety and fear holding you back from reaching your true potential?
There are so many people suffering from anxiety-related issues today that it becomes easy to ignore how damaging they can be. Imagine what you could achieve without the fear of failure, fear of not being enough, or fear of not meeting others expectations?
Imagine what it would feel like to release all of that?!
Well, now you can!
Join me for Tough Love Tuesday and release the fears that are holding you back!
Tonight I will be discussing strategies and tips for overcoming fears and confronting anxieties head-on.
During my broadcast, I'll explain the different ways that anxieties can present themselves and discuss ways that they could be negatively affecting your mind and body.
Anxiety is based around the assumption that all irrational and unmanageable instances of FEAR are real. The perceived threats of unprocessed fear and overwhelming urge to retreat entirely from any potential dangers is an unfortunate reality for many people. I have been there and I still have some work to do too!
Achieving goals and aspirations become possible as soon as you let go of the fears surrounding them.

Episode 35: Activate Your Very Own "Fire Within" with Guest Charles Ellis

I write about this in my book, and my guest, Charles Ellis does as well in his book "The Fire Within: Transform Your Life." Charles L Ellis is Owner/Founder of The Fire Within Group. He is an Author, Speaker, Certified Life Coach, Advisor, Poet, and Humanitarian.
Tonight we will be talking about your very own "Fire Within" and how you can and why you need to activate it by modifying your thought process, eliminate old limiting paradigms, and create new positive and supportive beliefs.
An Excerpt From Charles' book: “In life there is so much conditioning from the world that a person doesn’t usually know what to believe, what’s real, or even how to go about being their true and authentic self. We may not even know that there is an authentic self, thus believing our thoughts, the labels given us, our careers, our social status, or even what others tell us to be, as being who we really are. Nothing could be further from the truth…”
As author of The Fire Within motivational/Inspirational books and creator\founder of The Fire Within Group, Charles loves helping those with non-traditional work histories and backgrounds, and anyone who has a hard time believing that they have the ability to create their ideal lives. He uses online courses, life coaching, self-help books, and whatever it takes to get his clients to believe in themselves. His goal is to motivate and inspire the individual to transform their lives and change old paradigms that are not conducive to their best interests. He likewise wants his clients to become the best versions of themselves.

Episode 26: Your Personal Relationship with Food is Connected To Our Self-Care and All We Do In Our Lives with Guest Nadia Headley
Your Personal Journey with Food with Guest Nadia Headley
Today, my guest is Nadia Headley!
I asked Nadia to be on my broadcast today because she knows through her own experience, how important it is to understand your own personal relationship with food and how it is connected to our self care and all that we do in our lives.
Nadia helps nonprofit leaders and entrepreneurs maximise win-win-win partnerships and build relationships.

Jerry and his wife, Jenny, married in June of 2000 and have lived in Hewitt, Texas, since 2002. They have two children, Abigail and Tai. The Snider's are members of Fellowship Bible Church in Waco, Texas, where they have attended church since 2003. Jerry worked in various businesses and non-profits before opening his business, All In Health and Wellness, in 2016. Jerry and Jenny purchased another business, Luna Juice Bar, in January 2020. Their hope is to continue to bring the message of health to the community through healthy meal options. As a certified Life Breakthrough Coach, Jerry believes in a functional approach to solving problems. Discovering and eliminating the true source of pain (what is holding you back) is far more important than treating the symptoms. He has been cited in several articles, blog posts, and podcasts in regards to health, fitness, wellness, and entrepreneurship.
Volunteering in his community continues to be very important to Jerry. He served in Track & Field, Cross Country, and Football coaching roles with Texas Wind Athletics, helping the football team win the first ever Texas Homeschool State Football Championship in 2017. Jerry is in his third year as the Cross Country and Track Coach at Eagle Christian Academy in Waco, TX. Each year Jerry has coached, he has had at least one individual or relay state champion. He has volunteered in various ways at his church including as usher, speaker at retreats, LIFE group leader, and children’s Sunday School leader. He also volunteers at multiple community events each year. In October of 2017 Jerry developed a fundraiser for the City of Hewitt Public Library called All In with Jerry: Running for Readers. He raised $2,000 for the library to expand its selection of books for business owners. Attention all job seekers and career changing seekers!
You are a whole person. This means that to have a healthy life, MANY aspects of your life come into play. One area that impacts your overall healthy life is your career. For this reason, I am excited to bring Kristi Meenan to the show.
Kristi is a certified Resume Writer, Job Search strategist, Career Coach and LinkedIn Pro!
Kristi is a Dallas native--and at 50 years young she has reinvented herself, transitioning from a job she needed to creating the career she always dreamed of. In 2018 she launched her business, We Write It Now and has never looked back.
Kristi has always loved to write. Her first writing gig was in the 2nd grade. Years later she pursued a Journalism degree at Texas A&M, dabbled in print and television production, and then accepted a job as On-Air talent at a classic rock radio station. If you follow her on Facebook, you will see her insane love of music.”
After graduation she moved to Dallas to work for a few well-known companies like Eastman Kodak, Zale Corporation and JCPenney. She got married, had two kids, and stayed at home with them until they were both in school.
Like many other moms, the time came when she was ready to re-enter the workplace and build her credentials. But she floundered.
Unsure of where she belonged, she jumped in and out of a variety of roles. Each attempt at happiness and success resulted in failure. She was stuck.
At the persuasion of a few good friends, she decided to get back to her roots and pursue a position doing what she always loved – Marketing and Writing.
But things didn’t go as planned. She never got an offer. Tired and dejected, she took matters into her own hands, and decided to follow her heart and launch her own business.
How it all went down-
"A few years ago, I tried over a year to land a job. Any job. My resume was jam-packed with tons of experience – only to find out later that was part of the problem.
I had applied to over 100 positions and received zero offers. I was overlooked for positions I was completely qualified for. It made no sense.
Frustrated and confused, I decided to take back control and find out what was really going on.
I spent an extensive amount of time interviewing top recruiters, headhunters, job placement agencies to understand the “secret sauce” for tapping into the hidden job market.
And what I learned made sense.
There is a strategy to getting your resume to the top of the pile.
There is a strategy to tap into the hidden job market.
There are ways you can partner with your professional network and get them working FOR YOU.
I have a powerhouse of over 3000 professional connections on Linkedin I have loved on.
Why should you care? Because these are the professionals that help you get into almost any industry. And I LOVE making introductions for my clients.
Not only do I design keyword-optimized Resumes to get past the ATS, I also develop strategic Job Search Action Plans (JSAPs), which give my clients more control of their search, instead of the common ‘spray and pray’ method. "

Episode 07: The Four Pillars of Health
Today I am excited to have my guest Jesus Martín joining me from Seville, Spain! Jesus is the owner of Khalma Wellness. www.khalma.com He is also a Chiromassage Therapist, Yoga Instructor, and Reiki Master.
Here is a brief life story from Jesus~
"When I was a child, I was a timid boy, worried about everything happening in my little world. I was scared about what happened around me, concretely in my class. I did not know what "bullying" was. In those days, the "big boys" were ruthless to my friends, and I usually tried to help the weaker guys, but almost every day, someone was injured or crying. It was hard days for me too …
When I was growing up, I wanted to help poor people. I thought the neediest people were in Africa, and they needed food or medicines. So I wanted to be an instrument to support their feeding. I studied agriculture engineer. After some agriculture jobs, I finally worked for three years in research (Agricultural genetic engineering). I notice I was displeased. I realized I did not love my work.
After some time, I discovered that helping people face to face, going together hand by hand emotionally and physically, is what I loved. On the other hand, I realized wellness involves all my life: (Martial arts (karate, wushu), running, swimming, football, triathlon, fitness, yoga). I am practicing meditation (Raja yoga, Buddhist, Zen, golden ray), energetic techniques (Reiki, balance energetic), and physical techniques (chiro massage).
I realized that what I enjoyed was helping my family and friends with their emotional and physical problems. So I aligned my personal goal to my career.
I'm now fully dedicated to learning how thoughts and habits affect health and happiness. I only can say thank you to more than five hundred people who have trusted me in my classes and therapy sessions to this day."
I look forward to speaking with him!

Episode 06: Community. How Can We Show Up Within Them Utilizing Our Gifts and Expertise?
Community.
We all live in one. We all belong to one. Due to social media our communities are no longer just geographic locations, but social platforms as well. With that said, what can we each do to support it?
Within our communities, each of us are handed lessons & personal experiences each day. Some lessons & experiences are happy. Some are not so "happy" but are very easy to navigate. And others are extremely challenging and ones we don't believe we can make it through. These lessons and challenges move us deep within our souls and test our abilities, or faith, all that we know. They can rattle us beyond what we believe we can ever handle.
Today, I would like to discuss our communities and how we integrate into them. And challenge us that no matter how difficult the situation, we each know that we have something incredible we can bring forth to support them. That no matter how small we may think our area of ability is, if we utilize it for support, it can ripple out and impact so many others in an incredible way.
What are your talents? Your skills? How can you utilize them to help others? Even if the skills are not part of your career, but are a hobby, how can you bring that forward for the benefit of your communities?

Episode 02: Let Go of the Need to Control Everything
It's a new year!
I literally feel like I just narrowly escaped the clutches of 2020. On January 1, 2021 I put my "hope" and "resilient" hats back on!
I am excited to be speaking with you tonight on my first Tough Love Tuesday of 2021. I have been pondering what I would like to talk about tonight and kept being indecisive because I was trying to make the broadcast topic "PERFECT" and trying to "CONTROL" the outcome of the broadcast! Haha! I know deep down inside, none of that is possible. So I released the need for these two things.... THEN the topic came to me.
"Stop Trying to Control Everything."
The need to control and to be perfect causes a great deal of stress on the mind and body. Since stress is a contributor to chronic illness, I am hoping to give you insights on how you can release the need to be in control and perfect, especially with things you really can't control.

Episode 01: Always Ask "Why?"
Feeling frustrated in regard to your relationship with food?
I am a FIRM believer in the question, "Why?" We always need to be asking ourselves "WHY?"
Why do you eat?
Why do you choose the food you choose?
Are you a Yo-Yo Dieter who continues to practice losing weight just to then gain it back?
Are you a victim to your food choices without any ability to control what you purchase and then put in your mouth?
Do you always fall off the wagon in regard to your health goals?
Tonight, we are going to be asking ourselves "why" we have the relationship with food that we have. Just like when you were a child and consistently asked "why" to your parents over and over again! But we are going to do it with full intention.
All I ask is that you give it a try and along with my lead. As Ingrid and I write about in our book, Your Personal Journey with Food, how can you move forward if you don't know where you are? Tonight, let's figure out the "why."
I challenge you tonight to figure this stuff out so you can move forward into a supportive relationship with your food and thus with yourself.
