don't rush the process: meet yourself where you're at
Do you ever feel like you're behind in life? Fun fact: This is a completely normal feeling. However, the anxiety and fear associated with this feeling can prove to be more harmful than helpful. So why do we continuously burden ourselves with these arbitrary self-imposed timelines? In today’s episode we deep dive into the importance of accepting our present selves and where we are on our journeys in any and every aspect of our lives.
Sometimes, we just need to meet ourselves where we're at

is this seasonal depression or a season of reflection?
Every aspect of life is cyclical, from our circadian rhythm to seasonal changes. If we allow ourselves to view the most complex and intimate parts of ourselves, particularly our emotions in this way, we can break free of the mentality that traps us into believing our emotions are one-dimensional and consistent. Our emotions mirror and respond to the seasons and the very real changes that take place in the different areas of our lives. So I question, what if Seasonal Depression is a label we use to make sense of how we naturally feel during slower, less productive seasons of our lives? What if we reframed our perception of slowing down and our cultural understanding of it? What if we tune in to our natural rhythm and begin to see slower seasons as an opportunity to reflect and to recharge?
Let's talk about it in today's episode

i like taking care of my boyfriend...so what? (gender roles & expectations in modern relationships)
Women are no longer in the kitchen. In fact, we're in the streets, shaking ass and wreaking havoc... and GOOD FOR US. Women are more empowered than ever today. I mean, I could nearly do whatever I want and yet, I still choose to clean my home and make my boyfriend dinner. Bizarrely enough, engaging in acts of service for my male partner -- especially as a modern, progressive woman is considered controversial today. Is this internalized misogyny? Am I seeking male validation to determine my worth as a woman? Am I another pawn of the patriarchy? Or do I just like a clean home and to see my partner with a full belly after a long day of work? Many of us want the Instagram lifestyle but not the sacrifices that come with it. I question, can we really have our cake and eat it too?
I don't know. But what I do know is today's guest, Deidra (my best friend) and I break down the expectations associated with the different sexes in modern relationships and why we at times still fall into those traditional roles... sue us!

are you honoring yourself? figuring out how to lead a life guided by intuition & self-love
Are you honoring yourself? I know, that's a heavy question. But a very important one. In today's episode we discuss the realities of self-discovery. How do we strip ourselves of the constant 'need to please' and get to the core of who we truly are and what we really want? More importantly, how do we come to embrace and feel confident in this part of ourselves? Maybe the first step in honoring ourselves is through learning to trust our intuition. If love stems from truth, then the deepest love, self-love, can be accomplished when we find it.

stagnation is death: how to take risks in life
They say the hardest part is starting and the rest should come easy... but I personally believe the most difficult part is falling on your face and making the decision to get back up and try again... in front of everyone. Growth is all about embracing change, yet many of us run in the opposite direction when confronted by the prospect of it. In today's episode Chef de Cuisine; Shon Shalit of Williamsburg's ridiculously popular restaurant : Sunday in Brooklyn, teaches us how to NOT do that and instead get comfortable getting uncomfortable...or die..(jk maybe). But seriously, today we're talking all about taking risks in life, why it's necessary, how to do it and how it changed his life -- and how it'll change yours too. We believe in you :')

why do we fear love? (how to be more loving)
I've been thinking a lot about love lately and the role it plays in our society. In most cases, I've found that a majority of us are jaded by love. We don't embrace it anymore, instead the 'act of loving' is met with hesitancy. In today's episode we define love and break down what it means to each of us. Do any of us know love and if so, why are we afraid of it?

i just want you to be honest with me
Relationships aren't complicated... people are. We overcomplicate things when we aren't true to ourselves or the people we love. Shit gets messy when we prioritize our egos over doing whats right. The simple truth is, being honest with each other will bring us much closer to achieving the results we want. So why do we lie? What are we afraid of? and how can we learn to just be fucking real with each other? Let's talk about it

you are enough
With social media at the forefront of our consciousness, it can be difficult to not let the overexposed, grandiose lifestyles of others make us kick ourselves for not having it as 'together' -- as our counterparts. But what does this convoluted idea of 'togetherness' actually entail? And what makes us think that we aren't doing just as well as the guy sitting next to us on the train? When it comes down to it, comparison kills joy. And the concept of 'extraordinary' is a myth. In today's episode we discuss the role of social media in the demonization of the 'average, non-insta famous' lifestyle and the art of being enough.

appreciating the little things
As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate Thanksgiving and its symbolism -- gratitude. Everyday we have so much to be grateful for, even in phases of our lives when things feel grey. 2020 has definitely spearheaded the way I view the world and my life today. Today's episode is dedicated to appreciating the little things in life we tend to take for granted. Hopefully this encourages you to look at your life a little differently, to reach out to the people you love and to give thanks for what you have in the present.
Happy Holidays everyone!

how do we forgive our parents?
Naturally, as we grow older we come to understand our parents more. We find ourselves walking the same paths they took, experiencing the same thoughts and feelings they once did. And this realization forces us to push them off of the ideological pedestal we've created and instead see eye to eye with the people who we once considered to be superhuman. The objective of today's episode is to encourage you to come to terms with and to make amends with your parents. To see them as humans who are just as capable of making mistakes as we are. Family tends to be a touchy subject for most of us. The general consensus when asked about our relationship with our parents tends to be "it's complicated" and the truth is, it is. Familial bonds have the power to diminish healthy, rational thinking and amplify emotions that most of us don't realize we carry. Today we are talking about our childhood, our relationship with our parents and how these relationships have molded us into who we are today. Lets take on a more compassionate and empathetic lens when dissecting our parents mistakes -- lets find a way to forgive them.

in our 20s (pt.1) — feeling directionless, maintaining friendships, dating + finding happiness
In today's episode we discuss some of the most common struggles we all face in our 20s, whether it be learning how to be okay with losing friends or how to maintain the friendships we already have. The fundamental differences between high school relationships and the daunting world of dating in your 20s. How to make sense of where you're going in life, how much pressure should we be actually placing on ourselves? Does any of this matter in the grand scheme of things? How can we come to make sense of this new reality?
We have our first official guest, my best friend of 11 years Deidra -- sharing her perspective and experiences on these struggles and how she's managed to deal with them.

when self-doubt becomes debilitating
Let's talk insecurity, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, negative thought cycles and how we can stop racking our brains trying to find the right answers and instead learn how to block out the background noise that keeps us stagnant and overall -- unfulfilled. There are probably so many things we want to accomplish but that nagging voice in the back of our heads (that we give way too much power to by the way) can prevent us from just going after what we want. In today's episode we talk about self-doubt, how it manifests in our daily lives and how to overcome it or better yet -- how to use it to our advantage.

breakups and breakthroughs
Heartbreak is probably the most painful thing humans experience -- the loss of someone we love deeply. Of course this comes in many forms, but there's something about grieving a person who is still here that makes us question not only our relationships and the people we get into them with, but more importantly our roles within them and most importantly ourselves. In today's episode, we discuss how to navigate heartbreak, how to make sense of it, why we feel these intense and confusing emotions. How do we escape it unscathed and still open to love? And why is it a necessary part of life?

allow yourself to fuck up
We live in a perfectly imperfect world, we acknowledge it, we accept it and we continue to put our best foot forward to change it. We keep going in spite of it, we try to regain our footing when we’re knocked to the ground. Yet we don’t exhibit this same form of resilience when dealing with ourselves. In today’s episode we take a deep dive into the world of imperfection and our very human desire to be anything but that. Where does this need for perfection stem from? And more importantly — how can we conquer it? How can we come to admit that yes, we are fuck ups — but you know what? that doesn’t make us any less deserving of whatever it is in life we’re chasing. How has the ideal version of ourselves molded who we are and the way we perceive ourselves? How does it influence our decisions? And how can we stop handing our power over to a version of ourselves that doesn’t actually exist? Come back down to reality on this episode of Transparency Card Podcast.
