Ep 106 - Mastering Online Meetings with Michael Fraidenburg

Michael took time to let us know about online meetings starting with what people fear the most regarding online meetings and how to manage online meetings, especially when you can't read the audience.

A good way to get our online meetings, according to Michael, is to ensure transparency and put systems in place to work things out in case things go wrong.

Fraidenburg is widely experienced in conflict resolution, facilitation, agency governance, teaching, policy-making, international negotiations, planning, research, and program administration. He has a successful track record in controversial, international and interstate work environments and has received state and national recognition for his work in international disputes over salmon.

He has extensive experience facilitating science-intensive disagreements and, as a certified mediator, using interest-based bargaining techniques to resolve disputes over natural resources. He is able to motivate and work effectively with people in supervisory, team, and peer relationships and is expert at helping organizations and stakeholders work together. Ep 104 - There's no One Size Fits All Approach in Business with Steve Lowell

Ep 104 - There's no One Size Fits All Approach in Business with Steve Lowell

Steve shared with us his experience on how the global pandemic recalibrated his business. He speaks about how shifting mindsets and making real changes helped to positively impact his business.

He also talked about how important it is to dress the part while working from home.

About Steve

Steve has always been a fan of the stage. His first time in front of an audience was at six years old, a skinny little kid with big thick glasses playing the guitar his parents had given him for Christmas. What a rush!

Over the years, he looked for every opportunity to get in front of people and play and tell stories. In his teens and early twenties, he was a professional musician, touring with his band across the country and playing in bars. He always adored being in front of an audience, and as the frontman, Steve did all the talking. Of course.

One day Steve came across a video of Zig Ziglar, the legendary sales expert and motivational speaker. He was on stage, just him, no guitars, no equipment, no bandmates, and Steve remembers thinking to myself – what a great job that is! Steve became fascinated with the whole world of getting up on stage and just saying things.

Over the years, Steve has grown his speaker training business. He has researched almost every speaking technique there is and even added neuroscience to his methods to validate his principles with actual science. He has had the opportunity to teach professional speakers all over the world, including elite professional speakers and global changemakers.

He adds that the various approaches or methods can be combined like he is doing. Still, it is crucial to do our due diligence concerning these approaches.

EP 83 - Generational Diversity in the Workplace with Lindsey Pollak

Would you employ a teenager in your workplace or someone your grandfather’s age if you had the chance? Lindsey Pollak brings an exciting fresh take on generational diversity in the work environment and helps us understand how we can get value from these age differences.

Linda explains the different generations in various workforces around the world, from “Baby boomers” to “millennials” to “Generation-Z.” She talks about younger people taking leadership roles in North America because of their tech skills but shares interesting anecdotes about people in older generations still offering value in terms of history and solutions during the sometimes unpredictable periods of technology. Linda helps us understand how this diversity fuels creativity and innovation in the work environment.

Linda also details ways to learn relations with diverse age groups, from our family structures to making efforts to relate with different age groups at gatherings, and finally, discarding stereotypical assumptions about specific age groups in the work environment. She finally explains how successful multigenerational organizations are those where everyone is passionate about “the big picture” and not hung up on generational differences.

EP 75 - Using Challenges as Building Blocks with Simone Giangiordano

EP 75 - Using Challenges as Building Blocks with Simone Giangiordano

Simone Giangiordano has battled with health challenges all her life and has still remained at the top of her game in her different ventures. After two decades, she quit her corporate job because of the negative effect on her health and decided to begin her entrepreneurship journey and work from home. But she realized that the poor habits she had while working in her corporate job continued to impede the growth of her personal businesses.

Simone is our guest on today’s show and discusses the importance of taking care of the three core areas of our lives: mind, body, and spirit, and how the alignment of these areas can affect our businesses.  She shares tips on achieving alignment in the three areas, identifying and understanding your peculiar challenges, and practical strategies for dealing with them.

She also shares personal business tips on enhancing overall wellness, such as how to build your business around your challenges, client management, necessary boundaries for your business, and other tips for building businesses with a solid structure that aligns with who you are, your needs, and the lifestyle you desire.

About Simone

Simone Giangiordano, better known as Simone G, is a lifestyle and business coach. An encourager. A lover of the ocean. She believes the courage to say “I CAN’T” will set you free.

Simone brings hope to those with invisible health challenges impacting the quality of their life and their business success. She gives voice to the idea that societal and cultural norms are far more limiting that any limitation we have, and that by sharing compassion, we can overcome many of the misconceptions and much of the stigma around chronic health challenges.

Simone’s transition from her corporate career of nearly two decades to entrepreneurship was the direct result of her health challenges. As she figured out how to manage a business alongside several illnesses and injuries, she shut down her first business three times in the first five years of her entrepreneurial career. It was during these years that saying “I CAN” nearly broke her. Thankfully, the last shutdown was back in 2012!

In caregiving for her father, she learned what matters most is the impact we have and the love we share. That experience gave her the courage to be silent no more and to author the Building Balance to Empower programs, which were created to guide others struggling with compromised health in building a business and creating a lifestyle that supports their work and well-being. Today, she uses her Signature Program The Power of I Can’t® alongside her business coaching to help her clients transform their lives, their businesses, and their well-being.

Ep 74 - How to Land Your Dream Job in 12 Weeks With Super Julie

Ep 74 - How to Land Your Dream Job in 12 Weeks With Super Julie

In this episode, SJ talks with us about her proven recipe to help anyone land their dream job within 12 weeks. She discusses tools for getting your job search strategy right and how she has been able to help 90 to 95% of her client secure remote jobs. She also shares tips on how and why you should create a comfortable atmosphere during the interview that fosters engaging conversations that help the interviewer fall in love with you.

She also shares a few personal strategies to easily navigate job offers, salary expectations in an interview, and eventually negotiate for better pay. She walks us through how to lead interviewers to the conclusions you desire and leave room for and navigate multiple job offers simultaneously. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we end up not getting the job. SJ discusses why this happens and how to bounce back from such rejection.

About SJ

At the age of 16, I tested for a learning disability, and lo and behold; I had a fabulous combo platter of auditory processing disorder and dyslexia. I had spent the previous ten years learning how to verbally communicate and solve problems while delegating my most challenging tasks. I did all of this unknowingly and was getting schooled on how to be a leader.

As a young adult, I quickly rose in corporate jobs leading creative teams for Victoria’s Secret, MTV, Nike, Estee Lauder, and Carter's Childrenswear. I never felt like I fit in; I was ashamed of my learning disability; it was a secret that I wouldn’t share with others. I knew how to get a high-level position without having a Master’s degree, how to charm my way by developing relationships, negotiating the offer, and, regardless of my hurdles, lead with confidence. I created the recipe for getting the salary that I deserved.

Today, I’m an entrepreneur, and our company helps people get the career and salary they deserve regardless of their challenges. We work with Veterans, stay-at-home parents, immigrants, folks from the LGBTQIA community, and folks with addictions or alcoholism. We have helped formerly incarcerated individuals, people who have lost their passion for what they do, people with disabilities - learning, physical or psychiatric; we are the people who help take fear and formality out of the career. We’ve helped over 16,000 people get the job they deserve.

I also talked about using a good password manager and also some best practices for link clicking. You don't just click on any link in your email because they might contain malware or other viruses that is meant to hack your computer.

You also don't download hacked software online because they can compromise the security of your computer.

I gave a Black Friday tip that can make as much savings as possible during the deals that would be going around.

How to Stay Productive While Working From Home

How to Stay Productive While Working From Home

In this episode, I talked about how to stay productive while working from home because as a freelancer and work from home dad, I have gone through my fair share of not being able to stay focused.

I did some more research, applied them, and came with my suggestions on how to nail working from home and avoiding distractions.

Some of the things you will notice in this episode are the following:

- Have a dedicated workspace

- List the most important stuff you need to get done

- Create time chunks for work

- Get rid of things that could distract you for the time you need to get work done

- Inculcate a reward system

- Add activities that will help you stay focused like listening to music

I also gave a bonus app recommendation that you will have to listen to in the episode

Becoming an Authority in your Field with Simone Vicenzi

Becoming an Authority in your Field with Simone Vicenzi

In this Episode, Simone Vicenzi tells us about how he started his Event Business, shares his work from home experience, and talks on how people can become an authority in their field.

He is well rounded and I enjoyed talking with him on this episode.

Some of the key points are these:

- You are not an authority because you say you are, you are an authority when people perceive you as one.
- You always have to show up. Consistency is key.
- You can accelerate the process of being seen as an authority by appearing in reputable media platforms.
- When you keep the knowledge to yourself, no one will understand the scope of what you know.
