On this first episode of 30 Minutes of THRIVE of season 2, Ben interviews to of his former classmates who have graduated and gotten into their respective careers.

In the winter of 2022, students and faculty in the UCM Digital Media Production program collaborated to produce the radio drama of "A Christmas Carol".  Students also served as Foley artists, and the Warrensburg High School Concert Chorale was enlisted to provide carols.  Hope you enjoy this special presentation of "A Christmas Carol".

LOTS of debate over this topic.  On the one hand, the U.S. women's soccer team has been much more successful, but the women's game lacks the commercial appeal (and thus the television and ticket sales dollars) that the men's game enjoys.  Some great points made by our panelists in this episode.

In his final episode of the semester, JT looks at what has happened in college football over the past two weeks and who sits in the top four ahead of Championship weekend. Then he looks at some big changes to the college basketball AP Top 25. And finally, he wraps it up with a look at the NFL.

Our topic this week on “Sports Talk” is “Should transgender athletes be required to compete according to their birth assigned gender, or should they be allowed to compete as they identify?”  This is a very sensitive subject; it’s become a heated and sometimes ugly debate in politics. But it is one, as sports reporters, we must address.

JT hits on last week's matchups in college football, the MLB Wild Card round, and NFL news, including Matt Rhule and roughing the passer.

The THRIVE Program at the University of Central Missouri is transforming the lives of students with disabilities. The program expands opportunities for students with disabilities so they can live a more independent life. Ben Avery is one of those students living his dream of being a radio personality.  In this first episode of "30 Minutes of Thrive", Ben interviews one of his professors, Lisa Garnier.

In Episode 2 on “Sports Talk” our topic is “The NIL: Good or Bad for College Athletics?” For YEARS it has been debated whether college student athletes should get paid. After all, college athletics bring in A LOT of revenue through ticket sales, television contracts, and imaging. But these are also COLLEGE athletes, most of whom are on scholarship that pays for at least part (if not all) of their tuition and living expenses. Our panelists discuss.

This fall, the Sports Reporting course at the University of Central Missouri will be producing a weekly show to examine issues related to athletics.  In week one, we discuss "Who Should Pay?" Four students will discuss their points of view: Should owners pay for new stadiums or renovations, or should the bill go to the taxpayers?

Nick gets a chance to interview a UCM icon, the first bowling coach in school history, Ron Holmes.  In segment two he interviews new head football coach Josh Lamberson.  And then Nick caps the show with a rundown of the week ahead in UCM athletics.

On her next-to-last episode, Olivia decided to bring in a couple of her best friends to relive some of their fondest memories, discuss why they chose UCM, and look ahead to their respective futures.

Michael Giovannini came to UCM to fly helicopters.  Even though he didn't get to fly helicopters, he stuck with the aviation degree.  He also became a drum major for the Marching Mules, spent time in the military, served as a college admissions professional and today is director of safety for the Denver Air Connection.
