UMass IPM Fruit Loop Vol. 29 Episode 15
Diseases take a rest while insects steal the spot light and ReTain continues to be of interest. This one's short and sweet... or not sweet, depending upon how you look at things.

UMass IPM Fruit Loop Vol. 29 Episode 14
Wild wet weather increases exotic disease pressure, insects are... well, pretty mellow this week actually and its time to ReTain them peaches. This week's Healthy Fruit is a collaboration between Jon Clements, Dan Cooley and Jaime Piñero with a bonus guest article from Cornell Extension colleagues Dan Donahue and Mike Basedow.

It's gettin' hot in here; UMass IPM Fruit Loop Vol. 29 Episode 13
It's a pesty episode this week. Still working through a backlog of Healthy Fruit edition and this one is crawling with critters and rot. This episode throws us (gently) back to the first week of July, the 6th in fact, which seems wicked long ago.

Tail end Trials; UMass IPM Fruit Loop Vol. 29 Episode 9
Thinning windows are closing, ascospores are giving up a last gasp and even insect pests are slowing their roll this week. We seem to be at the tail end of the mad spring rush and getting ready to enter into that summer holding pattern (but more on that as things develop). Keep your eyes peeled for straggling plum curculio and #getoutandscout to see if you incurred any primary scab infections that need to be managed to prevent a secondary outbreak. Plus, oh so very much more. Take a listen!

Well we are a few days late but not a single dollar short! Insect and disease pressure ramp up this week while your thinning window closes. The whole fruit team contributes to another info-packed episode. Still just my voice, still just my bad jokes. I have no regrets... Do you??

Pressure to get out and manage multiple tree fruit considerations mounts as temperatures rise. Apple thinning remains high on the priority list. Plum curculio activity is picking up but has not yet hit peak while apple scab falls down on the to do list as a result of unfavorable infection conditions. Finally, fireblight is on the scene and ready to attack any open blossoms. All this and so much more in this newest episode of the UMass IPM Fruit Loop.

Dr. Piñero counsels us on weekly insect activity as well as insecticide options which is augmented by this week's guest article from MSU's Dr. John Wise. Off Season Fruit Loop No. 4: Winter Meeting Series, Blueberry Twig Blight Q & A With MSU's Mark Longstroth
As you may know the fruit Extension Educators from New York and New England have teamed up to organize a series of winter meetings, via zoom of course.
These meetings are being held once a week throughout the rest of the winter. Extension Educators, and faculty from New York, New England and beyond have been kind enough to join us to share their research and experiences.
In this episode of the fruit loop you will hear the question and answer portion of January 26th’s blueberry twig blight presentation. If you are interested in viewing the video presentation portion, check it out on our UMass Extension Fruit Team youtube channel.
I would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Concklin from the University of Connecticut Extension program for inviting Mark to present at this meeting, to George Hamilton of the University of New Hampshire Extension program for his insights and of course our speaker Mark Longstroth, recently retired from Michigan State Universities Extension program.
If you would like to hear more about what Mark has to say, check him out on Twitter @MIbluedoc.

Off Season Fruitloop- Forecast Models and Decision Support Systems- Part 3
Short and action packed. This episode of the UMass IPM Fruit Loop takes you through a super duper quick review of just what it is we are talking about (erm... it decision support systems, y'all) and then a fairly comprehensive description of how to interpret apple scab risk forecast output from both RIMpro (https://www.rimpro.eu/) and NEWA (http://newa.cornell.edu/), two DSS currently available to use in the Northeast and Midwest U.S. Feel free to open up the NEWA link and follow along! Likewise, if you have a RIMpro account, this would be a good time to get a refresher. Side note, while NEWA is only available in the U.S, RIMpro is available for subscription services around the world.

'20-'21 Off Season Release Episode 1
In this episode, Hawkeye dives deep on key pathogen and insect pest life cycles to lay the groundwork for a larger discussion about what forecast models are, how they work and how models, and the decision support systems that implement them fit into an IPM program. This is the first in a multi part series. How many parts you get depends on just how long winded Hawkeye gets...
