68. How to Crush Credit Card Debt
Credit card debt in the US has reached a record of $930 billion.Paying off your credit cards matters because this is one of the most expensive forms of borrowing money. You can either use the avalanche or snowball methods to payoff your cards. Personally, I prefer the avalanche method because it tackles the higher interest rate (aka more expensive debt).Listen to this episode to learn about where to pull the money from and how I helped a client grow her credit score by paying off $30k in credit card debt after a few sessions with me.Paying off your credit cards helps you retire early. Learn more about 1:1 coaching and join my mailing list here. 🤑

67. How to improve your spending habits
In this episode, I talk all about how to improve your spending habits so you can retire sooner. These are 2 types of spenders: 1. The YOLO/I won't look at my credit card statements spender 2. The im-terrified-of-bieng-poor-again-so-l-guiIt-myself-out-of-treating-myself spender 1. If you're a YOLO spender, you struggle saying no to overpriced dinners/excursions with friends because you don't want to upset people. You feel a sigh of relief when someone around you says no because they can't afford it, and you wish you could be that up front. The truth is that saying no doesn't just help your budget now, it will help you have more money to invest so 75 year old you is taken care of. Instead of wondering if you can afford something now, ask, "can my 75 year old self afford this?" Automate your savings to a specific account that you can only touch for a certain goal, like an emergency fund or trip to Italy. 2. For those who don't spend at all outside your needs, I feel you! As a child, I compensated for my family's emotional turmoil and money trauma by identifying as "the saver." I didn't feel like I deserved "everyday nice" things like massages. As an over saver, remember that life is short and that you shouldn't wait until you're 75 to live it. Incorporate a weekly/monthly "treat yourself" event, like a spa day or hiring a personal trainer. See this is an investment in yourself NOW. 51% of people making $100k still live paycheck to paycheck. Making more money won't change your money habits. I see this all the time with my clients. Lifestyle creep is real, but so is making more money and still feeling too anxious to spend/invest it. Work with me 1:1 to improve your money habits so you can take control of your money. Book a call here to get started. 🦄

66. What the 2024 IRA Limits Mean For Your Retirement
The 2024 IRA limit has been raised to $7k a year! $8k if you're over 50! Listen to this episode to learn about why this matters and how IRAs are the key to early retirement. You can leave your side hoe AKA brokerage account alone until you max this juicy, tax advantaged account FIRST at the start of each year. The longer you wait, the more you're missing out on tax free growth. Every 3 months, companies pay out interest in the form of "dividends." These dividends compound more than basic AF interest in a savings account when you're reinvesting them. $7k invested each year for 15 years: about $232,635. A whopping $120,635 of that comes from your money growing ITSELF. Tax free, if in a Roth IRA! You CANNOT get these gains from a savings account. Investing grows money better long term. Do you know you need to get started with investing but want help? Book a call here get started with 1:1 coaching; https://calendly.com/travelercharly/clarity?month=2021-03

65. How to Grow Your Mailing List
I've grown my mailing list to about 500 people in 2 years and I wanted to share how I did it. Having a business is a great way to add extra income so you can reach financial independence sooner. Having a mailing list is a great way to market that business and let people know about your services! It's also a great way to bypass getting banned/blocked on social media and any social media outages that happen.
Listen to this episode to learn what to avoid, what platform to use, and to keep your followers ready to buy whatever service you offer.

64. Re-release: How to Avoid Lifestyle Creep
Making more money won't automatically improve your money habits. Making more but not saving more? Listen to this episode from last year that I recorded to learn about how to avoid lifestyle creep. Lifestyle Creep is when you end up spending more on wants than needs when you make more money. It's something I help my clients avoid. I had a client who hired me as her money coach because she wanted to avoid lifestyle creep. Tbh, when she told me this, I had to Google "lifestyle Creep" before we met because I'm so used to investing extra money instead of buying things 🤣. But then I realized that I, too, have fallen prey to it and it's okay because now I'm more intentional. While working together, She made serious moves and even bought a freaking house as in on track to retire early!! She made more than I did but most of my clients make more than I do! I love helping them move past the guilt of making more money than ever and turn that into action. I love helping my clients retire early. 🏳️🌈🦄💵 Join me, your twerking money coach, for my free PERREO TO PROFIT: INTRO TO STOCK PICKING CLASS on Thursday, 10/26! 💰🎉 🔑

62. How I grew my credit score to 808
Listen to this episode to learn how I went from having a crappy Bank of America cash back card and no credit to growing my credit score to 808. I share how opening credit cards is good for your credit score and how opening 5 cards a year boosted my credit score. Once you understand the credit cards game, it's easier to see them as an investment in your future. Having an 800 credit score is part of retiring early because it can help you get access to better interest rates on loans like mortgages, saving you tens of thousands of dollars over time. And when you can save money, you can grow it instead!

61. How to build sustainable food & money habits w/ health coach Samantha Lee
In this episode, I talk with health coach Samantha Lee about deprogramming all the unhealthy generational wounds we've inherited when it comes to eating and money. We break down inherited food scarcity how that often applies to money too, especially when you grow up first gen. Budgeting can often feel unsustainable and overwhelming like a diet, and we're here to tell you that it doesn't have to be this way. We've been guilted into thinking that ethnic foods aren't healthy and that the white, unflavored way of eating is the healthy way. Guess what? You don't have to eat chicken breast and broccoli be healthy.
Samantha Lee is a Hmong-American, the eldest daughter of refugee/immigrant parents, a speaker, and a health coach that helps women of color (WOC) lose weight and break out of following racist diet culture rules.
Her work was inspired by her 10-year health journey where she felt the need to strip her cultural identity to fit into society's standard of "white healthy". Samantha's mission is to voice the cultural differences in the health/fitness industry so WOC can take control of their bodies by eating the foods from their background without shame. She is a WOC stop dieting expert and a health advocate for her community.

58. Self Compassion Makes Millions with My Business Coach, Cat del Carmen
I'll never forget the day I sat on the beaches of Playa del Carmen in 2021 and sold $3,000 in Tesla stock to hire my first coach ever, business coach Cat del Carmen. I was the first in my family to hire a coach. Hiring her was what took me treating my money coaching as a "side hustle" to treating my business like an actual business. Before hiring her, I was making a couple hundred a month. A month after hiring her, I doubled my investment and made $7,500 in sales.
If you're wondering what it takes to level up your business and make more money and feel good becoming rich, this episode is for you. We talk all about how being a business owner requires daily growth and mindset worth, especially in our capitalistic system. I truly believe her work is as anticapitalistic as it gets, as she helps marginalized folks become the sources of their wealth, and that wealth is generated from our thoughts.
Cat Del Carmen is a business coach, wife, and mami who teaches WOC how to scale to six figures in their coaching business. Cat grew her business from $10k to $200k cash in a single year by focusing on client results, becoming an expert at marketing and selling, and now she teaches her clients the same process that helped her scale while simplifying. Cat is the host of, Latinas Booked Out Podcast, which has over 100k downloads, where she teaches her concepts, and philosophies of growing a coaching business through trauma-informed, high-integrity, business practices. She has been featured in New York Times, Yo Quiero Dinero Podcast, and The Offbeat Life Podcast.

48. Stocks Are Sexy and So Is Doubling Your Business Revenue with Gloria Malone
On this episode, I chat with my money coaching client and Aries Goddess, Gloria Malone, about how she's doubled her business revenue month to month since launching her own business in January of 2023. Listen to learn about what mindset shifts she's made on her wealth building journey, as well as how she's balanced running her own businesses while maxing out her 9-5 job benefits.
Gloria was one of my first clients when I first started my money coaching business 3 years ago. I had no idea how much my biz would take off at the time, but I knew after quitting my stock broker job that I wanted to help LGBTQ+/BIPOC understand how to set their retirement accounts up correctly. In 2020, Gloria realized that her 401(k) from her new job wasn't invested and was going straight to cash, losing value to inflation. We changed the $1,000 in her 401(k) to get invested, and it doubled in about a month. She's maxing out her Roth IRA too. She's enjoying beach vacations with her kid while also making sure her future self is set. Doing both is possible. So happy to work with Gloria again this year because there is ALWAYS more to work on as we shift from survival mode to thriving mode. 🤑 I love helping people understand their investments so they can move on with their badass lives and create their own businesses!
About Gloria Malone: She is an award winning communications professional who is passionate about changing narratives, naming ones self, and elevating under shared stories. You can follow her across all social media at @GloriaMalone and find her wearable affirmation jewelry shop here.

43. Investing Chisme with the Witch of Wall Street, Linda Garcia
About Linda: A Cali native and proud Latina, Linda Garcia spent 17 years working in the TV and film industry helping well-recognized TV networks, movie studios and streaming services build programming for the U.S. Hispanic market. Despite enjoying the work, Linda knew there was more to life than working to make someone else rich. Eventually, she took the knowledge she’d gained and used it to launch the Let There Be Luz podcast: a weekly podcast aimed to channel one’s spiritual journey.
In 2019, after relocating to Dallas, Linda’s spiritual journey led her to what she considers her life’s purpose: to help the Latinx community heal the generational money wounds that prevent them from achieving wealth. 42. Money Coach vs. Financial Advisor: Which one's best for you?
Wondering what the difference is between myself, a money coach and a financial advisor? If you've googled the difference, you might see this answer: "A financial advisor is a professional who can help you develop your investment strategy and long-term financial plans. A financial coach is someone who can help you reach near-term goals by providing financial education and showing you better ways to manage your money."
On today's episode, I share how I was on track to become a financial advisor, and why I decided I didn't want to manage rich people's money for them. I quit my job as a stock broker because I wanted to help first gen, LGBT/BIPOC with their mindsets first AND I want them to manage their own money. In my opinion, financial advisors profit off of your ignorance. They're not down with helping you with your limiting beliefs/mindset. They get paid to manage your own money or understand it because you're too scared to do it. I share how I'm a great stepping stone toward one day hiring a financial advisor so that you can actually understand WTF you're paying them to do with your investments.

Have you ever met someone and just known you two are gonna vibe? In this candid, unfiltered conversation full of joy and laughter, Carla and I rage against the cishet white capitalist machine.
We talk about the why it is imperative for first gen people of color to destigmatize the desire to build wealth. I shares my insight on investments and talks about the power of time IN the stock market, how I invested in my Roth IRA even when I was on food stamps, and how you can become am anti-capitalist millionaire.
We also discussed how immigration status, upbringing, and generational beliefs are influencing how we show up in our career choices and money choices. I share reflections on how finding community has been essential for me as a business owner to make $100k+ in sales. I also share how having a brokerage account and selling $3k in stock in it allowed me to take my business from a side hustle to a full time source of income.

33. Your 401(k) is your main squeeze!
The 2023 401(k) limit is $22,500. I share how you need to be maxing this account out every year in order to retire early (or retire at all, tbh). Don't have a 401(k)? I got you I mention what you need to know about IRAs.
You also should absolutely understand what you're investing in within your 401(k). You could still be investing in "funds" that are actually just in cash that's losing value to inflation.

31. Why ALL your savings accounts should be high yield
Stop parking your cash in regular savings accounts with sh*tty interest rates. Moving your cash from a regular savings account to a high yield savings account can grow your money by tens of thousands of dollars in just a few years. Also, stop paying your credit card several times a week. I share why I only pay for my credit card once a month from my high yield savings account and how that's helped me grow my credit score to the 800s.

30. How and Why To Pay For My Coaching with a Credit Card
I share how to get excited about paying for my 6 month, 1:1 money coaching program with a credit card, as well as my client wins. You shouldn't pay for my coaching with cash.
My coaching helps you compress time and make massive transformations in the 6 months of working with me.
I have helped my clients grow their retirement accounts by 17x, I've helped them go from making $2k to $20k in their businesses, and I've helped them get excited about the sustainable projects their millionaire selves will achieve.
I share how paying with a credit card is a no brainer. You get points/cash back, making it easier to pay off your investment. I will help you pay it off faster while growing your money with investing.
One of my clients is paying for my coaching with the Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus intro offer, which gives you 60,000 points aka $750 cash back when you spend a minimum of $4k in 3 months. This $750 will help pay off her card faster.
I also share how credit card debt calculators can help you remove the shame around debt and be more strategic. These credit card companies WANT you to ignore your balances, but I'll help you give these companies less of your money so you can invest it instead. 😈

29. How Much Should You Invest?

28. The Chisme on How Millionaires Invest
As a stockbroker, I talked to millionaires every day. Here's the chisme on that!
I share lessons I've learned from them about how to be objective and strategic with your money, no matter what the stock market is doing.
The amount of money you have doesn't matter nearly as much as how you interact with your money and just get started investing.

27. Credit Card Perks: Airport Lounges and Boosted Credit Scores
I share my experience staying in an airport lounge in Singapore thanks to my credit card rewards. Growing up, I was taught airport lounges were for bad, rich people. That's not true. Being in airport lounges doesn't make me a better or worse person. It makes me a more relaxed person!
Credit cards are just another tool we should be investing in not just for perks, but to boost our credit scores. Planning to get a mortgage or other large loan? Having a better credit score gives you a better interest rate. I've used credit cards strategically for years not just for airport lounge perks, but to also get my score to 800+.
Strategically using credit cards is a part of the millionaire treasure map my clients use in my 1:1 coaching. Join my "Make Credit Cards Your B*tch! masterclass on Sunday, Feb 5th @ 7:30pm et/4:30pm! There will be live coaching with me and all sign ups will have access to the recording. Sign up here: https://calendly.com/travelercharly/credit?month=2023-02 🏳️🌈🦄💳

26. From Paying off 18k in Debt to Airport Lounges w/ Mom Money Boss
Today my money coach mafia friend Nathalia (She/Her/Ella) aka @mom_money_boss joins me to talk about how she paid off 18k in debt, manages her finances as the main bread winner, and more!
In Nathalia's words: "I am a self proclaimed Alpha Latina. I am an immigrant to the U.S., a wife, a mother and a chapina dedicated to empowering my community! My passion for financial education was born out of a need to educate myself on my own financial journey.
I’m working on finding my inner niña that was left behind in Guatemala, reconnecting with my ancestors, and learning who I am outside the influence of the colonizers. I eagerly talk about the barriers we face in our communities when it comes to financial education and the ability to create generational wealth. My hope is that by sharing my knowledge and experience, we can break down those barriers and empower you to achieve financial freedom in your lives." Hit her up for 1:1 coaching!

23. How Lulu Invested Their Inheritance
When Lulu and I first started working together, they had received an inheritance of about $150,000 but felt too scared, guilty, and stuck to touch it for MONTHS. Through our time together, they've opened a Roth IRA, Brokerage account, separated their personal and biz $, and have started to invest in massive amounts of $10k, $6k, and $30k at a time.
They've also lent a family member $15k to buy a home and leave an unhealthy marriage. I helped them see the potential they had this whole time, once they gave themself permission to make powerful money goals and follow through them. Lulu is of Jewish heritage and I love how they talk about how this came into play when learning about their own money blocks.
I went from being told I "didn't sound like a Charly" by transphobic clients on the phone when I worked as a stock broker to helping queer folks invest tens of thousands of dollars. So cool. 💕
Lulu (she/they) is a tattoo artist and multi-disciplinary creative currently based in so-called Massachusetts. They spent the earlier years of life studying music, theatre & film, languages, typography, and history, while also working a variety of hospitality jobs. All of these experiences inform Lulu's work as a tattooer, in which they seek a balance between the precision of traditional craft and the boundary-breaking opportunities offered by a new generation of tattooing. Above all Lulu hopes to create a fun and empathic environment for her clients. You can find them at @tattulu on ig!

22. Options & Margin Trading Features, Explained
I share what some intimidating investing terms ACTUALLY mean when you're opening accounts. I help clients open up investment accounts all the time, and the most common roadblock they face is when they're asked if they want to add these "trading features": Options and Margin. In this episode, I explain what these fancy white men words mean.
Margin is basically all about borrowing money to buy stocks. I just use it to take out cash from my Brokerage account if I need to, but I transfer the money ASAP from my savings account to my Brokerage account so I don't pay interest. Options trading is an advanced trading tool that I have also used in my day trading days, but I don't anymore, because honestly, I would much rather buy stocks I can set and forget so I can move on with my baller ass life.
The language of money is intended to be exclusionary, but I'm changing that. Say no to the margin and options features when opening investment accounts if you are a beginning investor. Here's why!
