I grew up in the southern United States, but I never had the opportunity to learn homesteading or about being a housewife, and I wish that I had. This is another Miracles & Signs episode, but it's also Season 3, and the start of a new season in my life. I was in a toxic, abusive relationship at the time, and God helped me see my way out of it. I've been putting makeup on since I was about 12 years old and I've hated it for almost just as long. I don't like spending money on it, putting chemicals into my skin, and I don't like feeling like I can't go without it because I won't look presentable, or "pretty". And you usually ignore it. Because you’re kindhearted; otherwise, you would have left a long time ago. And that is the problem with people like us — we care too much. We care so much about others, their feelings, their situations, and their circumstances that we neglect our own. We are not living our own lives,  we are living everybody else’s, and sometimes we have to let go.

I miss my childhood in the 80s. Too many times in my adult life, nostalgia has really gotten to me in dark and depressing ways. I talk about my hypochondria. This is, in my opinion, the black sheep of mental health disorders. It doesn't get enough attention and doesn't go to family reunions with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, anorexia, bulimia, or even the one that always shows up but everybody else is afraid to sit by -  schizophrenia. Hypochondria is a debilitating mental health disorder - and it's the root cause of at least 90% of the depression I've suffered from most of my adult life.

I talk about when I started writing and how I made $1.4 million dollars in one year by quitting my job to do what I love most. I talk about agent rejections (about 300 total that I didn't actually say in the episode - but it was 300 rejections!), to my struggle with never having time to write because I worked long hours and was raising three small children on my own. I did the unthinkable! I took a huge risk that could have so easily gone the wrong way - but if I didn't take that risk, I likely never would have seen the success that I've had.
