And you usually ignore it. Because you’re kindhearted; otherwise, you would have left a long time ago. And that is the problem with people like us — we care too much. We care so much about others, their feelings, their situations, and their circumstances that we neglect our own. We are not living our own lives,  we are living everybody else’s, and sometimes we have to let go.

I miss my childhood in the 80s. Too many times in my adult life, nostalgia has really gotten to me in dark and depressing ways. I talk about my old friends, the trailer park I used to live in, and the elementary school I attended and love; I talk about the beloved 80s kid lunchboxes, so much so I had to buy a couple on eBay to satiate my painful need to relive my past.

I’ve wanted to write this book (or some variation of it) for a  long time. In 2018 it was going to be my rags-to-riches story, but it  never went beyond an idea. In 2019 it was meant to be a feminist,  motivational book using my life-changing experiences as a backdrop. In  2020, the idea shifted to a memoir, heavily detailing my life, the many obstacles I’ve faced, and how I overcame them. Then, in 2021...

I talk about my hypochondria. This is, in my opinion, the black sheep of mental health disorders. It doesn't get enough attention and doesn't go to family reunions with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, anorexia, bulimia, or even the one that always shows up but everybody else is afraid to sit by -  schizophrenia. Hypochondria is a debilitating mental health disorder - and it's the root cause of at least 90% of the depression I've suffered from most of my adult life.

I talk about when I started writing and how I made $1.4 million dollars in one year by quitting my job to do what I love most. I talk about agent rejections (about 300 total that I didn't actually say in the episode - but it was 300 rejections!), to my struggle with never having time to write because I worked long hours and was raising three small children on my own.
