She graduated high school and then went on to receive her Bachelors in Fine Arts from College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. Caitlin and Tom were married 2016. They settled down in Columbiana and began expanding their family! Caitlin is presently a stay-at-home mom who cares for her kids and continues to use her creativity to make artistic items and experiences for them! Caitlin enjoys and has dabbled in large fine art figure painting, metal and foundry work, murals, fine art sewing, miniature making and reborn doll making! Caitlin and her family joined the Upper Room in 2016. We're so grateful for Caitlin and the way she so deeply loves her family! Beth and Kate interview Marilyn Emerick! Marilyn lives in New Springfield. She was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. Marilyn went to South High School and worked from the time she was 16. She held jobs as a slipper girl at Strouss's, made pizza at her dad's bar, washed and sized eggs at a farm, cleaned houses, drove a bus, and then found her dream job working for the Mahoning County Board MRDD. She married her high school sweetheart in 1961 when she was 17 years old. She and her husband were married for 57 years. Marilyn has two grown children, 6 grandkids and 3 great grandkids! Marilyn enjoys tent camping, knitting, and being outdoors. She currently enjoys running the Columbiana Area Collection Drop-Off Spot for Operation Christmas Child and collecting wheel chairs for Joni Eareckson Tada and Friends. She has been at the Upper Room since June of 2022! We're so grateful for Marilyn and how she listens for and follows the voice of God in her life. Listen and hear from Marilyn as she discusses the faithfulness and goodness of God.

Beth and Kate interview Mike Strohecker! Mike lives in Columbiana and has three kids - Trinity, Izzy and Zane. Mike was born in Salem, Ohio and spent his childhood between Tampa, Florida and East Palestine, Ohio. At 16, Mike decided he was going to move full time to Ohio and graduated from East Palestine High School. He then attended Mount Union and received his bachelor's in Sports Medicine. He worked as an athletic trainer for four years and then made the choice to become a Health and Physical Education Teacher. After getting a masters in Educational Technology, Mike has spent the last 21 years teaching at Canfield High School. Mike enjoys gardening, cooking, travel, hunting, fishing, reading and working out. Although Mike was at the Upper Room in the past and had left for a bit, he's recently back with us for the past few months! We're so grateful for Mike and his openness to the people around him. We really appreciate his authenticity. Listen and hear from Mike as he shares the good, the bad and the ugly...all for the glory of God!

Beth and Kate interview Chris Rice! Chris lives in Columbiana with her husband, Jeff. She was born and raised in Columbiana, Ohio. Chris graduated from Columbiana High School and began attending Malone College for broadcasting and theater. Two years into her college career, she left Malone to marry her first husband, Mike. They had four children together and moved to Florida to live for a number of years. After relocating back to Columbiana, Chris worked a few management jobs in the restaurant and grocery industry. Years later, Chris found her dream job and now works as the Medical Record Director at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center. Chris enjoys music, singing, guitar playing, refinishing furniture, refurbishing homes and writing! Chris was at the Upper Room in her teenage years through early-twenties and has now returned to the Upper Room as of 2019! We're so grateful for Chris and how she loves on and blesses the elderly population at work, her family, friends and those at the church. You can't miss welcoming joy in her presence! Listen and hear from Chris as she discusses the power of the love of our Father God.

Beth and Kate interview Abbie Buckshaw! Abbie lives in Columbiana with her three children! She was born and raised in Salem as a middle child with two siblings. After graduating from United Local, Abbie worked for her Bachelor's of Education at Mount Union and continued on for her masters degree at Kent. Apart from being an amazing 2nd grade school teacher, she has been a cashier at Giant Eagle, a teacher and aide at a daycare, and a varsity cheerleading coach! Abbie loves music and has played several instruments. She also loves to sing. Working outside and getting her hands in the dirt has always been life-giving and refreshing. Abbie started at the Upper Room in November of 2021! We're so grateful for Abbie, for her transparency, genuineness and spunk! Listen and hear from Abbie as she discusses the power of being open and inquisitive to people, to the spirit, and new life!

Beth and Kate interview Carol Keller! Carol lives in in the area, although she was born in Michigan. Carol was born in 1932 and had a strong Catholic background through her life. She planned to follow her sister's example of being a nun, but after a year decided that wasn't the life for her. Carol met Ron and was married in 1951. They had eight children together. In their 40's, Carol and Ron felt called into the ministry and moved to Texas to go to Christ For The Nations. After graduating from school and being ordained, they helped to oversee multiple churches while ministering back and forth in Malaysia. Later in their 60's, Carol and Ron settled down and pastored a church in Texas until Ron died. Carol moved to Ohio after Ron's death in order to be near family. She's recently begun coming to the Upper Room with her son, Steve! We're so grateful for Carol and how she passionately loves Jesus and lives to obey the Holy Spirit! Listen and hear from Carol as she discusses the power and necessity of a life of prayer and serving others.

She and Jeff also have a grown daughter who just gave them their first grandchild this past year! Marcia was born in Pennsylvania but was raised in the Crestview area. She has two older sisters and grew up working at Dairy Queen and waitressing. Although Marcia began college, she left to marry Jeff. She has been married to Jeff for 33 years! She is presently the office manager at Camp Frederick, which she absolutely loves. Marcia also thoroughly enjoys reading and crafting and being in nature. Marcia, Jeff and Jarred came to the Upper Room in 2019. We're so grateful for Marcia and how she so loves and serves her family and Camp Frederick! Beth and Kate interview Megan Perkins! Megan lives in Columbiana with her husband, Jonathan, and three kiddos, Solomon, Amos and Eve. She was born in Aurora, Colorado and raised in Littleton, Colorado. Megan began attending the Art Institute of Colorado, focusing on interior design until she was visiting family in Ohio and met Jonathan. After relocating to Columbiana, Megan went for a short stint to the Art Institute in Pittsburgh, but ended up graduating with a degree in Psychology. After school, Megan worked various jobs. She has been married to Jonathan for 13 years. Megan enjoys architecture, design, video games, cooking, cars, blankets, hoodies and comfy pants! She is currently a stay-at-home momma who also creates and designs all of the Upper Room's seasonal decoration! Megan has been at the Upper Room for about 15 years now! Although he attended college for a short stint, Jared decided to enroll in the army.  After a bit of time in the army, Jared moved into the Air Force. He worked as a military police officer in both branches. Jared is currently working for the State of Ohio as a Taxation Officer. Jared loves being outdoors, hiking, working on his home and learning how to update his house, and reading.  He also enjoys being near his family and spending time with them. Jared has been at the Upper Room for about four years now! We're so grateful for Jared and how he willingly serves people around him! Beth and Kate interview Bridget Spada! Bridget lives in Columbiana! She was born in San Antonio, Texas and was raised in and raised until she was 13 in Dallas. At 13, she moved to Orange County, California. After 12 years in Cali, Bridget lived in Haiti, Florida, Texas, and finally, Ohio! Overall, Bridget attended 13 different schools, including a summer at YWAM in Texas and some community college.  Over time, she worked as a waitress, in offices, doing gift shows for her mother's art, and ran multiple AirB&Bs.  Bridget has been married to her husband, David, for over 18 years, and they share two adult children - Jared and Brigitte.  One of Bridget's passions is fixing and restoring her circa 1870 home. She enjoys thrift shopping, historical research, and sharing her knowledge of Columbiana! She has been at the Upper Room for about two years now. We're so grateful for Bridget and how she's become an excited part of our beautiful town! Listen and hear from Bridget as she tells us that treasure doesn't come from the retail stores!

Beth and Kate interview Bob Bertelsen! Bob lives in Columbiana with his wife, Laurie! He and Laurie have three grown daughters! Bob was born and raised in Columbiana, attending Columbiana schools. After graduating from highschool, Bob went on to purchase his father's business, which he grew. After years of learning and growing in business, he began A+ Powder Coaters in 1996. Bob found Jesus during high school after agreeing to visit the Upper Room Coffee House, which was in the second floor of the Stryffeler Veterinary Clinic. After being saved, he began playing the guitar and getting involved with worship. After growing out of multiple church spots, Bob was one of the visionaries who oversaw the Upper Room's second addition and new kitchen!  Bob considers himself a financier of the kingdom and loves stewardship. He also loves building classic muscle cars, car racing, and spending time with his wife, Laurie. Bob was at the Upper Room from 1974 to 2008, when he and Laurie became a part of Real Living Ministries. We're so grateful for the great continued relationship with the Bertelsens and how Bob uses his life and resources to grow and building the kingdom. Beth and Kate interview Emily Dorn! Emily lives in Columbiana with her husband, Zack, and son, Milo! She was born and raised in Columbiana to a wonderful family.  Emily went to Joshua Dixon through 3rd grade and then was homeschooled from 4th through 12th grade. After graduating, she attended a bit of YSU and then moved on to Stark State College. She enjoyed being a dental assistant for a few years, but is currently a stay-at-home-mom! Emily and her husband Zack have been married for 9 years on October 19th. She truly feels that Zack and Milo are her best friends and is so grateful for their life and adventures together. Emily loves being in nature, walks with her family, being with friends, and enjoying watching God's creation. She has been at the Upper Room since February of 2022. We're so grateful for Emily and the sweet presence she carries with her wherever she goes. Listen and hear from Emily as she discusses the awe she carries for nature and life and how that awe teaches and grows us as healthier, more mature people!

Beth and Kate interview Marney Broderick! Marney lives in Columbiana on Lamppost Farm! She was born in Hastings, New Zealand and was raised in a rural community on a farm. After attending Te-Mata Primary School, she went to Napier Girls' Boarding School. Following, she went on to attend Choffin School of Nursing for her LPN and Excelsior College for her RN. Marney traveled to the US and areas of Europe for her OE (Overseas Experience). After coming to Jesus, Marney went with YWAM for her DTS  and then was a primary healthcare worker in the Philipines. After being married and having two children in the Philipines, Marney and her family moved to Columbiana! Later, they bought the property that is now Lamppost Farms. Marney loves gardening, raising sheep, spinning wool, weaving, felting, crafting, photography and wandering! After just returning from a long trip to New Zealand last week, we're so happy have her back! Marney came to the Upper Room in 2013. We're so grateful for Marney and how she uses her life, her gifts, her resources, and her love for the people around her. Beth and Kate interview Jenna York! Jenna lives Columbiana! She was born in West Virginia and raised in Columbiana, Ohio. She attended Real Life Christian Academy in her elementary years and then became a Crestview Rebel through high school! She went on to attend and graduate from Mount Union for her bachelors and then Ohio State for her doctorate in Physical Therapy. Although Jenna spent multiple years working in Physical Therapy, not only in Ohio, but also as a traveling PT, she is now a professor at Walsh University teaching new and upcoming Physical Therapists! We're so excited for this new position and opportunity! Jenna has been at the Upper Room since 2017. She loves being outside, reading, camping, being with Jesus, her family and physical activity. We're so grateful for Jenna and how she uses her gifts and knowledge to better the people around her! We're grateful for the ways she loves the people around her so so well! Beth and Kate interview Sarah Brown! Sarah lives in East Palestine with her husband, Chris, and two daughters, Raelynn and Ryleigh! Sarah was born and raised in Ohioville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from high school at Western Beaver and went for her associates at Beaver County Community College. She then attended Ohio University for her bachelors in nursing. She is now a registered nurse working at Mercy Health in Boardman! Not only is she a nurse but she is also presently a team lead! Sarah met Chris in high school, and they were married in 2016. Sarah and the rest of the Brown family have been at the Upper Room for almost two years! She loves running, hiking, camping - pretty much anything outdoors. She also really enjoys being with family, especially when they're vacationing together. We're so grateful for Sarah and her presence in her home, at the hospital at work, and at the church! Beth and Kate interview Jana Jory! Jana lives in Columbiana with her husband, Jamie! She has five adult children who live throughout the United States! Jana was in Seattle, Washington. After high school, she attended Brigham Young University with a degree in psychology. She went on an 18 month mission to Chile and then returned to marry her first husband, Don. Jana then worked to get her masters at California State in International Languages. In the midst of it all, Jana has been a professor, a wellness coach, a flight attendant, a fitness instructor, worked in regional sales and more! Jana met and married Jamie in 2018. Jamie and Jana have been at the Upper Room since March 1st of 2022! She loves the outdoors - gardening, hiking, camping, etc. She also enjoys reading and weight lifting! We're so grateful for Jana and her presence at the church and in town! We're grateful for the ways she loves the people around her and her family! Listen and hear from Jana as she reminds us that Jesus has each of us on a very personal journey in which he's directing and leading us towards Him!

Jamie Husgen - S.2 E.42

Beth and Kate interview Jamie Husgen! Jamie lives in Columbiana with his wife, Jana! He has two sons and is about to become a grandfather! Jamie was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri. He attended a private Catholic boys school and played baseball, football and hockey. He played juniors hockey and then went to the University of Chicago on a hockey scholarship. He was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1983 NHL draft and went on to play professional hockey until he broke his hip at 26 and retired. Jamie then went into the car business as a finance and general manager. He was married and divorced three times and then met Jana. Jamie and Jana have been at the Upper Room since March 1st of 2022! He enjoys fishing, boating, golfing, music and motorcycling. He also loves being outdoors and watching nature. We're so grateful for Jamie and his presence at the church and in town! We're grateful for the ways he loves the people around him and his family! Listen and hear from Jamie as he inspires us with stories about the goodness and redemptive work of Jesus!

Beth and Kate interview Julie Frederick! Julie lives in Columbiana. She has two sons, Cody and Dylan, and one granddaughter! Julie was born in Salem and raised in the surrounding area. She graduated from East Palestine, but was actually attended the vocational school her junior and senior year for cosmetology. After high school, Julie went into the restaurant industry, working at the Huddle Restaurant, Lakefront, and Dutch Haus. Julie was hired at the Ohio Turnpike when she was 28 years old and has worked there for 30 years! Julie has been at the Upper Room since before 2019. She loves spending time with her family and friends. She also loves being outdoors and traveling. We're so grateful for Julie and her beautiful heart to show kindness to people. We're grateful for the ways she loves her family and friends and people she sees at work! Beth and Kate interview Felix Schmitt! Felix lives in Columbiana with his wife, Debi. Felix and Debi have two adult children, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Felix and Debi have been married for 53 years in August! Felix was born and raised in East Liverpool and graduated from Beaver Local. After high school, he was drafted into the Army. Felix went on to work for AT&T for 38 years before retiring. Felix became a Christian in 1978 and has been evangelizing to others about Jesus ever since! Up until Covid, he was a chaplain at the Mahoning County Jail. Felix loves his family, he loves people, and he loves to share about Jesus. He also really enjoys sports cars and pickleball. Before pickleball he played a lot of tennis, and before tennis he practiced for years in martial arts. We're so grateful for Felix and his evangelistic heart to see the lost found. Beth and Kate interview Mark S! Mark lives in Columbiana with his wife, Beth and their daughter, Jayden. Mark and Beth also have two grown sons, Jacob and Jordan! Mark was born in Germany, the son to a father in the military. His family ended up returning to the states and moved to Ohio. Mark attended Ohio State for a short stint and then moved to California. While living in CA, he was diagnosed with cancer. After months of unsuccessful treatment, his doctors encouraged him to get his affairs in order. and Mark moved back to Ohio. At that time, he met Beth, and months later he was told the doctors could find no cancer! Mark spent about 20 years in retail before going back to school to become a teacher! He spent 14 years an a PE and a Bible teacher in a Christian school. This year he will begin a new position as principal at a Christian school in Pennsylvania! Mark has been at the Upper Room since 2003. We're so grateful for Mark and all the ways he has practically served and loved his family, his friends, the school and our church! If you know Mark, you know he is a straight shooter! Kids love and flock to him! He is genuine and desires to love his family well. They also have two fur-children - their labs Howdy and Scout. Jerry was born and raised in Knox, PA. After high school, Jerry enlisted into the army where he was stationed in Germany near the Alps Mountain Ridge. Afterwards, during the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Qui Nhon, South Vietnam. After his service in the army, Jerry came home and went to an electronic trade school in Pittsburgh, PA. He spent also 40 years with AT&T/OhioBell. Jerry loves to learn and to serve where he can! He ministers at the Pegasus Therapeutic Equestrian and also gives time to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. He is looking forward to painting and photography classes this summer! Beth and Kate interview Hope Coulter! Hope lives in Canfield with her husband, Brian and their three kids, Gwyneth, Emmett and Leo. Hope grew up in Columbiana and has been a part of the Upper Room for over 2o years! During her time Heartland Christian School, Hope worked in hospitality and food service. After marrying Brian, they moved to Nashville and following Brian's undergrad work, they moved to Columbus where Hope became a pastry chef at Pistacia Vera. Eight years later, Hope and Brian moved back to the area! Hope is now a stay-at-home-mom who spends her day rearing and raising the next generation! In the meantime, Hope loves getting in some alone time at TJMaxx and being a help and encouragement to her friends. She enjoys baking and cooking and blessing people with those goods! Hope has been back at the Upper Room since 2017. Beth and Josh interview Celie Altomare! Celie lives in Columbiana, next door to her wonderful daughter and son-in-law! Her beloved Tony passed away three years ago. They were married for and they had four children: Monica, Beth, Erin and Paul. Originally from Montana, Celie has also lived in Alaska and California! After moving to Ohio in 1981, Celie met Shirley Stryffeler at The Mustard Seed book store, and the rest is history! Since that time, Celie has become a household name at the Upper Room, serving in a hundred different capacities, always loving and cheerleading and giving compassion to anyone who needs it. Her dedication to her family and church family has been so evident and makes such a difference to the people around her! Celie presently works at the YMCA. You can find her at the service desk where she has become known as a finder of lost things! Celie loves her family, her grandkids and serving others. She has been at the Upper Room for 38 years! Ann is now a full time jail administrator and a part time realty agent. She met George, who was a police officer, on the job about 17 years ago and were married 3 years ago. This past year, George and Anne have begun a new journey into realty! Ann loves animals, especially dogs. She loves the outdoors, shooting, being on the water and in the skies! Ann and George have been at the Upper Room since October of 2021. This past year, George and Anne have begun a new journey into realty! George enjoys being outdoors, hunting, shooting and spending time with his family. He was adopted at two weeks old and was raised in Lewiston, Idaho. Tom worked in retail at local and not-so-local Albertons for 20 years. He met his wife, Gail, who also worked at Albertons, and they were married in their 20's. They've been married for 25 years in May! Tom enjoys being outdoors, camping, riding ATV's and spending time with his family. 11 years ago, Tom joined the Love's Travel Stops company which brought him to Ohio a few years ago! He and Gail have been a part of the Upper Room for about 4 years now. She has three altogether - a son, a daughter, Hailey, and a daughter, Gabby. Gail was born in Montana and moved back and forth between Montana and Washington until college, in which she attended the University of Montana and Idaho State. In the midst of college, Gail worked at a west-coast based store, Albertsons. She met Tom at that Albertsons, and they married in 1997. Between the two of them, Gail and Tom have worked in different management/job positions, one of which brought them to Ohio in 2018! Gail enjoys gardening, painting and cycling! While cycling one day on the GreenWay Trail, she met Jim and Dee Brown, who invited her to visit the Upper Room! She decided to visit and has been with us for almost 4 years! We're so grateful for Gail and the ways she serves and loves her family and the people around her! Gail's passion is seeking a more intimate relationship with Jesus and staying close to Holy Spirit so she can hear what He is saying. Beth and Kate interview the resourceful and spirit-led Jeremy Lindeman! Jeremy lives in Leetonia with his wife, Sara, and daughter, Lillian. Jeremy was born and raised in Minnesota. Joining the Air Force after high school, he was stationed over the next six years in two bases in South Dakota and Missouri. Hoping to move into airman leadership school position after two tours, Jeremy was instead moved to a blessing-in-disguise position in Missouri. After marrying Sara and receiving a word from God to go back to her family's farm, the Lindemans made their way to Ohio. Jeremy now works for ODOT. He and Sara bought and have been working on a fixer-upper, but have recently purchased land to build, with plans to be back on the farmland. They've been a part of the Upper Room for four years now! We're so grateful for Jeremy and the ways he serves and loves his family and the church! Jeremy presently serves as a deacon, as a part of the prophetic ministry team, and has been a great help to the church and multiple people in the area of fix-its! Functioning so well in both the natural and supernatural aspects of his faith, he's a great example of living out the kingdom with a wrench and hammer AND with a prophetic word.  If you know Jeremy, you know he loves Jesus, his family, the outdoors, helping others, and speaking life and encouragement to people. Brian grew up as a Columbiana Clipper but has since gone to school and lived in Nashville and Columbus. After returning from city living in Columbus in 2018, Brian joined a law firm and made partner in 2021. Although his specific focus in law is business litigation, he is interested and cares deeply about seeing justice seen in the system, specifically for women, children and those in socio-economic brackets that can be overlooked. Brian loves, plays and writes music. Although on hiatus, he's participated on the church's worship team and has also been in multiple bands.  Brian has been with the Upper Room family since about 2002, when he started visiting the youth group! We're so grateful for Brian and the ways he serves and works towards social issues, the ways he loves his family, and the ways he encourages us to worship. If you know Brian, you know he loves some good competition, some old-school emo and punk music, and an afternoon out on the gold course. Ellen grew up and now lives on her family's four-generation-old tree farm. After graduating from Columbiana, Ellen attended Kent to become a nurse and is has been a RN, BSN, C-EFM labor and deliver nurse at St. E's in Boardman since 2013. Always the adventurer, she's not only been helping to deliver babies in Boardman! Ellen was also a traveling nurse throughout the US for a time several experiences out west. When it comes to motherhood, Ellen began the process of pregnancy with a donor in 2019 and had Luke in 2021! He is a true joy and answer to prayer for Ellen.  Ellen has been with the Upper Room family since 2018! We're so grateful for Ellen and the ways she serves and loves her family and the hospital community at St. E's! If you know Ellen, you know she loves the outdoors, trying new things/traveling, and helping to bring babies safely into this world. Raised mainly by his mom, James grew up for some of his childhood years at the Upper Room! James has worked in restaurants and banks; he's been a delivery driver, a painter, a powder coaters, a bouncer and bar tender. About 5 years ago James broke his back and has spent the last few years learning how to process through pain management on a daily basis. Through all of this, James has grown deeply in empathy and patience. We're so grateful for James, his awesome life, and for the ways he loves the people around him. Deanne has given her life to serve her family, her parents and the people around her with her time and care and through listening closely to the voice of the Holy Spirit. She attended the state highway patrol academy and went into patrolling for the state of Ohio. She has also been a maintenance worker for the state patrol, a police guard for a reserve base, and an EMT. Chandra has used her life to care for people's safety and livelihoods. She has been married to Les for 13 years. After coming home, Bob drove truck for over 40 years. Since retiring, Bob has been working on cars, carts, cycles - anything that runs and has a motor! He has so much background and wisdom and experience in a array of topics, which means he has a story and discussion for all occasions! Although Bob knows a lot about things, he really cares deeply about our inner lives - how we think and feel and learn and see Jesus. Beth and Kate interview the sweet Jan Fellenger! Jan lives in Lisbon with her husband, Denny. They have two adult children, Steve and Denise, and three grandchildren! Growing up, Jan accepted Jesus when she was 5 years old. Jan is one of three siblings and has had the honor of being in a family of multiple generations who love and serve Jesus. Jan married Denny, who became a pastor, and she moved multiple times with him throughout Ohio as he moved from pastorate to pastorate. She cares deeply for children and has taught full-time as a teacher for about 45 years! Working with elementary children up to 5th grade, Jan taught in the public and private schools, finally retiring a few years ago. Jan and Denny have been at the Upper Room for about 10 years. We're so grateful for Jan and the way she loves her family, specifically as she gives her time to her grandkids! She cares deeply for her patients and the nursing staff, working hard to see excellence in all areas. Cheryl and her family have been at the Upper Room for 2 1/2 years. We're so grateful for Cheryl and all the ways she serves and loves her family and the community, specifically at the hospital! Beth and Kate interview the compassionate and amazing Kelli Hephner! Kelli is wife to Greg and mother of three kids, Morgan, Ben and Jonathan. Kelli grew up a farm girl, but has since set out to accomplish so much! With people being her life's passion, Kelli has worked in caregiving and serving on the county's EMS team. She is presently Columbiana's chaplain. She's continuing her education to be certified to care for first responders. Kelli also founded Heroes and Halos, a non-profit that cares for special-needs children and their families through support groups, meals, Christmas gifts, etc. Check them out on their Facebook page! Kelli has been at the Upper Room for under a year! We're so grateful to have Kelli as a new part of the Upper Room family, and so grateful for her really beautiful work with so many people in our community. Beth and Kate interview the wonderful, amazing, one and only Marta Aker! Marta is wife to Greg and mother of two grown kids, Shawn and Leslie. She has three grandchildren. Marta was an art teacher for many years but is now retired and gives so much of her time and love to the Upper Room body and so many others! Apart from  working as an art teacher, Marta spent years homeschooling, hosting small groups and families in her home, using her creative abilities to decorate homes and spaces all over! Since caretaking for her mother, brother and grandkids in the past, she now spends her great days ministering to women, serving at the Way Station, and holding several roles at the Upper Room in missions council and grounds keeping. Marta has been at the Upper Room for over 40 years! We're so grateful for Marta, for her beautiful example of caring, watching, organization, and beauty. He also helps to keep the URF looking beautiful through his amazing and creative abilities (check out the beautiful bench outside at the playground)! Cary and Gloria have been at the Upper Room since 2015. We're so grateful for Cary, for his service to our nation, for his care in the home, for his help at the church, and for his bright and joyful light that he shines so brightly. Although Lisa hails from California, she has moved from Virginia to Pennsylvania to Ohio! Her hobbies include camping, biking, paddle boarding, and enjoying God in the great outdoors! Since coming to the Pennsylvania and Ohio, Lisa has loved serving her family through homeschooling. Shirley not only gave some of their work space to be used for the cause of Jesus. Shirley has faithfully given her life in many different areas of love, prayer and sacrifice to see Jesus work in her family, church family, and the community in Columbiana. We honor Shirley for the impact she has had in all of our lives. Whether we are aware of it or not, her 'yes' to Jesus has changed the history of so many lives and the city of Columbiana as a whole.
