Beth and Kate interview Caitlin Byle! Caitlin lives in Columbiana with her husband, Tom and four kids: Kyla, Evie, Tommy and Sully! Caitlin was born and raised in McDonald, Ohio. She graduated high school and then went on to receive her Bachelors in Fine Arts from College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. Caitlin and Tom were married 2016. They settled down in Columbiana and began expanding their family! Caitlin is presently a stay-at-home mom who cares for her kids and continues to use her creativity to make artistic items and experiences for them! Caitlin enjoys and has dabbled in large fine art figure painting, metal and foundry work, murals, fine art sewing, miniature making and reborn doll making! Caitlin and her family joined the Upper Room in 2016. We're so grateful for Caitlin and the way she so deeply loves her family! Listen and hear from Caitlin as she shares her experiences and discusses how she uses her gifts and talents to love and bless those around her. 

Beth and Kate interview Marilyn Emerick! Marilyn lives in New Springfield. She was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. Marilyn went to South High School and worked from the time she was 16. She held jobs as a slipper girl at Strouss's, made pizza at her dad's bar, washed and sized eggs at a farm, cleaned houses, drove a bus, and then found her dream job working for the Mahoning County Board MRDD. She married her high school sweetheart in 1961 when she was 17 years old. She and her husband were married for 57 years. Marilyn has two grown children, 6 grandkids and 3 great grandkids! Marilyn enjoys tent camping, knitting, and being outdoors. She currently enjoys running the Columbiana Area Collection Drop-Off Spot for Operation Christmas Child and collecting wheel chairs for Joni Eareckson Tada and Friends. She has been at the Upper Room since June of 2022! We're so grateful for Marilyn and how she listens for and follows the voice of God in her life. Listen and hear from Marilyn as she discusses the faithfulness and goodness of God.

Beth and Kate interview Mike Strohecker! Mike lives in Columbiana and has three kids - Trinity, Izzy and Zane. Mike was born in Salem, Ohio and spent his childhood between Tampa, Florida and East Palestine, Ohio. At 16, Mike decided he was going to move full time to Ohio and graduated from East Palestine High School. He then attended Mount Union and received his bachelor's in Sports Medicine. He worked as an athletic trainer for four years and then made the choice to become a Health and Physical Education Teacher. After getting a masters in Educational Technology, Mike has spent the last 21 years teaching at Canfield High School. Mike enjoys gardening, cooking, travel, hunting, fishing, reading and working out. Although Mike was at the Upper Room in the past and had left for a bit, he's recently back with us for the past few months! We're so grateful for Mike and his openness to the people around him. We really appreciate his authenticity. Listen and hear from Mike as he shares the good, the bad and the ugly...all for the glory of God!

Beth and Kate interview Chris Rice! Chris lives in Columbiana with her husband, Jeff. She was born and raised in Columbiana, Ohio. Chris graduated from Columbiana High School and began attending Malone College for broadcasting and theater. Two years into her college career, she left Malone to marry her first husband, Mike. They had four children together and moved to Florida to live for a number of years. After relocating back to Columbiana, Chris worked a few management jobs in the restaurant and grocery industry. Years later, Chris found her dream job and now works as the Medical Record Director at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center. Chris enjoys music, singing, guitar playing, refinishing furniture, refurbishing homes and writing! Chris was at the Upper Room in her teenage years through early-twenties and has now returned to the Upper Room as of 2019! We're so grateful for Chris and how she loves on and blesses the elderly population at work, her family, friends and those at the church. You can't miss welcoming joy in her presence! Listen and hear from Chris as she discusses the power of the love of our Father God. 

Beth and Kate interview Abbie Buckshaw! Abbie lives in Columbiana with her three children! She was born and raised in Salem as a middle child with two siblings. After graduating from United Local, Abbie worked for her Bachelor's of Education at Mount Union and continued on for her masters degree at Kent. Apart from being an amazing 2nd grade school teacher, she has been a cashier at Giant Eagle, a teacher and aide at a daycare, and a varsity cheerleading coach! Abbie loves music and has played several instruments. She also loves to sing. Working outside and getting her hands in the dirt has always been life-giving and refreshing. Abbie started at the Upper Room in November of 2021! We're so grateful for Abbie, for her transparency, genuineness and spunk! Listen and hear from Abbie as she discusses the power of being open and inquisitive to people, to the spirit, and new life!

Beth and Kate interview Carol Keller! Carol lives in in the area, although she was born in Michigan. Carol was born in 1932 and had a strong Catholic background through her life. She planned to follow her sister's example of being a nun, but after a year decided that wasn't the life for her. Carol met Ron and was married in 1951. They had eight children together. In their 40's, Carol and Ron felt called into the ministry and moved to Texas to go to Christ For The Nations. After graduating from school and being ordained, they helped to oversee multiple churches while ministering back and forth in Malaysia. Later in their 60's, Carol and Ron settled down and pastored a church in Texas until Ron died. Carol moved to Ohio after Ron's death in order to be near family. She's recently begun coming to the Upper Room with her son, Steve! We're so grateful for Carol and how she passionately loves Jesus and lives to obey the Holy Spirit! Listen and hear from Carol as she discusses the power and necessity of a life of prayer and serving others. 

Beth and Kate interview Marcia Kalina! Marcia lives in Columbiana with her husband, Jeff, and son, Jarred! She and Jeff also have a grown daughter who just gave them their first grandchild this past year! Marcia was born in Pennsylvania but was raised in the Crestview area. She has two older sisters and grew up working at Dairy Queen and waitressing. Although Marcia began college, she left to marry Jeff. She has been married to Jeff for 33 years! She is presently the office manager at Camp Frederick, which she absolutely loves. Marcia also thoroughly enjoys reading and crafting and being in nature. Marcia, Jeff and Jarred came to the Upper Room in 2019. We're so grateful for Marcia and how she so loves and serves her family and Camp Frederick! Beth and Kate interview Megan Perkins! Megan lives in Columbiana with her husband, Jonathan, and three kiddos, Solomon, Amos and Eve. She was born in Aurora, Colorado and raised in Littleton, Colorado. Megan began attending the Art Institute of Colorado, focusing on interior design until she was visiting family in Ohio and met Jonathan. After relocating to Columbiana, Megan went for a short stint to the Art Institute in Pittsburgh, but ended up graduating with a degree in Psychology. After school, Megan worked various jobs. She has been married to Jonathan for 13 years. Megan enjoys architecture, design, video games, cooking, cars, blankets, hoodies and comfy pants! She is currently a stay-at-home momma who also creates and designs all of the Upper Room's seasonal decoration! Megan has been at the Upper Room for about 15 years now! We're so grateful for Megan and how she willingly blesses the Upper Room and those around her with her grace and love and amazing eye for beauty! Beth and Kate interview Jared Thompson! Jared lives in the Crestview area. He was born and raised in Salem and raised outside of Leetonia. Jared attended Crestview schools. Although he attended college for a short stint, Jared decided to enroll in the army.  After a bit of time in the army, Jared moved into the Air Force. He worked as a military police officer in both branches. Jared is currently working for the State of Ohio as a Taxation Officer. Jared loves being outdoors, hiking, working on his home and learning how to update his house, and reading.  He also enjoys being near his family and spending time with them. Jared has been at the Upper Room for about four years now! We're so grateful for Jared and how he willingly serves people around him! Listen and hear from Jared as he discusses the goodness in giving!

Beth and Kate interview Bridget Spada! Bridget lives in Columbiana! She was born in San Antonio, Texas and was raised in and raised until she was 13 in Dallas. At 13, she moved to Orange County, California. After 12 years in Cali, Bridget lived in Haiti, Florida, Texas, and finally, Ohio! Overall, Bridget attended 13 different schools, including a summer at YWAM in Texas and some community college.  Over time, she worked as a waitress, in offices, doing gift shows for her mother's art, and ran multiple AirB&Bs.  Bridget has been married to her husband, David, for over 18 years, and they share two adult children - Jared and Brigitte.  One of Bridget's passions is fixing and restoring her circa 1870 home. She enjoys thrift shopping, historical research, and sharing her knowledge of Columbiana! She has been at the Upper Room for about two years now. We're so grateful for Bridget and how she's become an excited part of our beautiful town! Listen and hear from Bridget as she tells us that treasure doesn't come from the retail stores!

Beth and Kate interview Bob Bertelsen! Bob lives in Columbiana with his wife, Laurie! He and Laurie have three grown daughters! Bob was born and raised in Columbiana, attending Columbiana schools. After graduating from highschool, Bob went on to purchase his father's business, which he grew. After years of learning and growing in business, he began A+ Powder Coaters in 1996. Bob found Jesus during high school after agreeing to visit the Upper Room Coffee House, which was in the second floor of the Stryffeler Veterinary Clinic. After being saved, he began playing the guitar and getting involved with worship. After growing out of multiple church spots, Bob was one of the visionaries who oversaw the Upper Room's second addition and new kitchen!  Bob considers himself a financier of the kingdom and loves stewardship. He also loves building classic muscle cars, car racing, and spending time with his wife, Laurie. Bob was at the Upper Room from 1974 to 2008, when he and Laurie became a part of Real Living Ministries. We're so grateful for the great continued relationship with the Bertelsens and how Bob uses his life and resources to grow and building the kingdom. Beth and Kate interview Emily Dorn! Emily lives in Columbiana with her husband, Zack, and son, Milo! She was born and raised in Columbiana to a wonderful family.  Emily went to Joshua Dixon through 3rd grade and then was homeschooled from 4th through 12th grade. After graduating, she attended a bit of YSU and then moved on to Stark State College. She enjoyed being a dental assistant for a few years, but is currently a stay-at-home-mom! Emily and her husband Zack have been married for 9 years on October 19th. She truly feels that Zack and Milo are her best friends and is so grateful for their life and adventures together. Emily loves being in nature, walks with her family, being with friends, and enjoying watching God's creation. She has been at the Upper Room since February of 2022. We're so grateful for Emily and the sweet presence she carries with her wherever she goes. Listen and hear from Emily as she discusses the awe she carries for nature and life and how that awe teaches and grows us as healthier, more mature people!

Beth and Kate interview Marney Broderick! Marney lives in Columbiana on Lamppost Farm! She was born in Hastings, New Zealand and was raised in a rural community on a farm. After attending Te-Mata Primary School, she went to Napier Girls' Boarding School. Following, she went on to attend Choffin School of Nursing for her LPN and Excelsior College for her RN. Marney traveled to the US and areas of Europe for her OE (Overseas Experience). After coming to Jesus, Marney went with YWAM for her DTS  and then was a primary healthcare worker in the Philipines. After being married and having two children in the Philipines, Marney and her family moved to Columbiana! Later, they bought the property that is now Lamppost Farms. Marney loves gardening, raising sheep, spinning wool, weaving, felting, crafting, photography and wandering! After just returning from a long trip to New Zealand last week, we're so happy have her back! Marney came to the Upper Room in 2013. We're so grateful for Marney and how she uses her life, her gifts, her resources, and her love for the people around her. Listen and hear from Marney as she speaks to us about the beauty of life and the faithfulness of God.

Beth and Kate interview Jenna York! Jenna lives Columbiana! She was born in West Virginia and raised in Columbiana, Ohio. She attended Real Life Christian Academy in her elementary years and then became a Crestview Rebel through high school! She went on to attend and graduate from Mount Union for her bachelors and then Ohio State for her doctorate in Physical Therapy. Although Jenna spent multiple years working in Physical Therapy, not only in Ohio, but also as a traveling PT, she is now a professor at Walsh University teaching new and upcoming Physical Therapists! We're so excited for this new position and opportunity! Jenna has been at the Upper Room since 2017. She loves being outside, reading, camping, being with Jesus, her family and physical activity. We're so grateful for Jenna and how she uses her gifts and knowledge to better the people around her! We're grateful for the ways she loves the people around her so so well! Listen and hear from Jenna as she speaks to us about the importance of being Jesus for the one!

Beth and Kate interview Sarah Brown! Sarah lives in East Palestine with her husband, Chris, and two daughters, Raelynn and Ryleigh! Sarah was born and raised in Ohioville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from high school at Western Beaver and went for her associates at Beaver County Community College. She then attended Ohio University for her bachelors in nursing. She is now a registered nurse working at Mercy Health in Boardman! Not only is she a nurse but she is also presently a team lead! Sarah met Chris in high school, and they were married in 2016. Sarah and the rest of the Brown family have been at the Upper Room for almost two years! She loves running, hiking, camping - pretty much anything outdoors. She also really enjoys being with family, especially when they're vacationing together. We're so grateful for Sarah and her presence in her home, at the hospital at work, and at the church! We're grateful for the ways she loves the people around her and her family! Listen and hear from Sarah as she reminds us that sometimes it's little things that really make a difference!

Beth and Kate interview Jana Jory! Jana lives in Columbiana with her husband, Jamie! She has five adult children who live throughout the United States! Jana was in Seattle, Washington. After high school, she attended Brigham Young University with a degree in psychology. She went on an 18 month mission to Chile and then returned to marry her first husband, Don. Jana then worked to get her masters at California State in International Languages. In the midst of it all, Jana has been a professor, a wellness coach, a flight attendant, a fitness instructor, worked in regional sales and more! Jana met and married Jamie in 2018. Jamie and Jana have been at the Upper Room since March 1st of 2022! She loves the outdoors - gardening, hiking, camping, etc. She also enjoys reading and weight lifting! We're so grateful for Jana and her presence at the church and in town! We're grateful for the ways she loves the people around her and her family! Listen and hear from Jana as she reminds us that Jesus has each of us on a very personal journey in which he's directing and leading us towards Him!

Beth and Kate interview Jamie Husgen! Jamie lives in Columbiana with his wife, Jana! He has two sons and is about to become a grandfather! Jamie was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri. He attended a private Catholic boys school and played baseball, football and hockey. He played juniors hockey and then went to the University of Chicago on a hockey scholarship. He was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1983 NHL draft and went on to play professional hockey until he broke his hip at 26 and retired. Jamie then went into the car business as a finance and general manager. He was married and divorced three times and then met Jana. Jamie and Jana have been at the Upper Room since March 1st of 2022! He enjoys fishing, boating, golfing, music and motorcycling. He also loves being outdoors and watching nature. We're so grateful for Jamie and his presence at the church and in town! We're grateful for the ways he loves the people around him and his family! Listen and hear from Jamie as he inspires us with stories about the goodness and redemptive work of Jesus!

Beth and Kate interview Julie Frederick! Julie lives in Columbiana. She has two sons, Cody and Dylan, and one granddaughter! Julie was born in Salem and raised in the surrounding area. She graduated from East Palestine, but was actually attended the vocational school her junior and senior year for cosmetology. After high school, Julie went into the restaurant industry, working at the Huddle Restaurant, Lakefront, and Dutch Haus. Julie was hired at the Ohio Turnpike when she was 28 years old and has worked there for 30 years! Julie has been at the Upper Room since before 2019. She loves spending time with her family and friends. She also loves being outdoors and traveling. We're so grateful for Julie and her beautiful heart to show kindness to people. We're grateful for the ways she loves her family and friends and people she sees at work! Listen and hear from Julie as she encourages us to truly acknowledge people and to get time alone with Jesus!

Beth and Kate interview Felix Schmitt! Felix lives in Columbiana with his wife, Debi. Felix and Debi have two adult children, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Felix and Debi have been married for 53 years in August! Felix was born and raised in East Liverpool and graduated from Beaver Local. After high school, he was drafted into the Army. Felix went on to work for AT&T for 38 years before retiring. Felix became a Christian in 1978 and has been evangelizing to others about Jesus ever since! Up until Covid, he was a chaplain at the Mahoning County Jail. Felix loves his family, he loves people, and he loves to share about Jesus. He also really enjoys sports cars and pickleball. Before pickleball he played a lot of tennis, and before tennis he practiced for years in martial arts. We're so grateful for Felix and his evangelistic heart to see the lost found. We're also grateful for the ways he loves his family and friends. If you know Felix, you know he loves good conversation and is always looking for ways to talk about Jesus and the Bible! Listen and hear from Felix as he encourages us to go out into all the world and share the good news of the gospel!

Beth and Kate interview Mark S! Mark lives in Columbiana with his wife, Beth and their daughter, Jayden. Mark and Beth also have two grown sons, Jacob and Jordan! Mark was born in Germany, the son to a father in the military. His family ended up returning to the states and moved to Ohio. Mark attended Ohio State for a short stint and then moved to California. While living in CA, he was diagnosed with cancer. After months of unsuccessful treatment, his doctors encouraged him to get his affairs in order. and Mark moved back to Ohio. At that time, he met Beth, and months later he was told the doctors could find no cancer! Mark spent about 20 years in retail before going back to school to become a teacher! He spent 14 years an a PE and a Bible teacher in a Christian school. This year he will begin a new position as principal at a Christian school in Pennsylvania! Mark has been at the Upper Room since 2003. We're so grateful for Mark and all the ways he has practically served and loved his family, his friends, the school and our church! If you know Mark, you know he is a straight shooter! Kids love and flock to him! He is genuine and desires to love his family well. Listen and hear from Mark as he encourages us to be honest with ourselves and to let Jesus use the good AND the bad to make us better!

Beth and Kate interview Morgan Nance! Morgan lives in Columbiana with her dad, mom, and two brothers. Morgan grew up in Pennsylvania, attending Beaver Christian School until a few years ago when the family decided to make the move to Ohio! Morgan just finished up her high school career at Heartland Christian School. Now that she's graduated, Morgan will be attending Eastern Gateway College online to work towards a degree in business! Morgan is currently working at Dairy Queen and can direct you toward an ideal summer blizzard flavor. Morgan is a self-proclaimed lover of coffee, makeup, dancing and work. She loves people and wants them to know that she cares about them and is always present for them. Morgan has been at the Upper Room for a few years and attends with her grandma and aunt! We're so grateful for Morgan and the way she loves her friends, family and coworkers! If you know Morgan, you know she loves and appreciates life. Listen and hear from Morgan as she encourages us to bring life and positivity to the places and people around us!

Beth and Kate interview Ellena Kuhlman! Ellena lives in Columbiana with her momma, Denise, and their three cats. Ellena grew up in Columbiana and has spent her learning years at Heartland, Crestview and Columbiana schools! While in school, Ellena worked at the counter at the Dutch Haus but has decided to move into waitressing. Now that she's graduated, Ellena will be attending Kent Salem to become a labor and delivery nurse. Ellena is a self-proclaimed plant mom. She loves people and wants them to know that she cares about them and is always present for them. Ellena loves music and dance and spent over ten years in ballet and dance before she injured her foot. Ellena has been at the Upper Room since childhood. We're so grateful for Ellena and the way she loves her friends and family! If you know Ellena, you know she is real; you know she cares; you know that family means so much. Listen and hear from Ellena as she encourages us to not to worry about the negative things people have to say! Smile, learn to speak life even when it's hard, and always remember to talk to Jesus about it.

Beth and Kate interview Jerry Mong! Jerry lives in Leetonia with his wife, Marilyn. They have a blended family with 4 adult children, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild! They also have two fur-children - their labs Howdy and Scout. Jerry was born and raised in Knox, PA. After high school, Jerry enlisted into the army where he was stationed in Germany near the Alps Mountain Ridge. Afterwards, during the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Qui Nhon, South Vietnam. After his service in the army, Jerry came home and went to an electronic trade school in Pittsburgh, PA. He spent also 40 years with AT&T/OhioBell. Jerry loves to learn and to serve where he can! He ministers at the Pegasus Therapeutic Equestrian and also gives time to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. He is looking forward to painting and photography classes this summer! Jerry has been at the Upper Room for one year! We're really grateful for Jerry and the ways he has served and loved his family, friends, church and country! If you know Jerry, you know he believes deeply in the power of prayer, he loves his nation and veterans, and he loves to learn, to create and find new things to do! Listen and hear from Jerry as he encourages us to work through our issues, get healthy, learn and to serve in whatever ways we can!

Beth and Kate interview Hope Coulter! Hope lives in Canfield with her husband, Brian and their three kids, Gwyneth, Emmett and Leo. Hope grew up in Columbiana and has been a part of the Upper Room for over 2o years! During her time Heartland Christian School, Hope worked in hospitality and food service. After marrying Brian, they moved to Nashville and following Brian's undergrad work, they moved to Columbus where Hope became a pastry chef at Pistacia Vera. Eight years later, Hope and Brian moved back to the area! Hope is now a stay-at-home-mom who spends her day rearing and raising the next generation! In the meantime, Hope loves getting in some alone time at TJMaxx and being a help and encouragement to her friends. She enjoys baking and cooking and blessing people with those goods! Hope has been back at the Upper Room since 2017. We're really grateful for Hope and the ways she has served and loved her family, her friends and the church! If you know Hope, you know she cares deeply and selflessly, that she is genuine, hilarious, and carries the example of the love of Jesus so well. Listen and hear from Hope as she encourages us to learn and unlearn, to think deeply about our habits, and to be curious by discussion and asking good questions! 

Beth and Josh interview Celie Altomare! Celie lives in Columbiana, next door to her wonderful daughter and son-in-law! Her beloved Tony passed away three years ago. They were married for and they had four children: Monica, Beth, Erin and Paul. Originally from Montana, Celie has also lived in Alaska and California! After moving to Ohio in 1981, Celie met Shirley Stryffeler at The Mustard Seed book store, and the rest is history! Since that time, Celie has become a household name at the Upper Room, serving in a hundred different capacities, always loving and cheerleading and giving compassion to anyone who needs it. Her dedication to her family and church family has been so evident and makes such a difference to the people around her! Celie presently works at the YMCA. You can find her at the service desk where she has become known as a finder of lost things! Celie loves her family, her grandkids and serving others. She has been at the Upper Room for 38 years! We're so so grateful for her! If you know Celie, you know she believes that Jesus loves us and hears our prayers - that he is present, patient and good.  Listen and hear from Celie as she encourages us to believe that God is watching over us and that we should cling to faith even when and if we doubt!

Beth and Kate interview Ann Wallace! Ann lives in New Middletown with her husband, George and daughter, Serina. Between the two of them, they have 5 kids. Ann was born in Youngstown, Ohio. Ann lived with her four siblings and five cousins and attended Chaney. After attending the Police Academy, she joined the Sheriff's Office. Ann is now a full time jail administrator and a part time realty agent. She met George, who was a police officer, on the job about 17 years ago and were married 3 years ago. This past year, George and Anne have begun a new journey into realty! Ann loves animals, especially dogs. She loves the outdoors, shooting, being on the water and in the skies! Ann and George have been at the Upper Room since October of 2021. We're really grateful for Ann and the ways she has served and loved her family, the community and the church! If you know Ann, you know she believes in the power of JesusLove, which she's had the opportunity to see and learn from her parents.  Listen and hear from Ann as she encourages us to believe that Jesus loves everyone and everyone can be changed because of Him!

Beth and Kate interview George Wallace! George lives in New Middletown with his wife, Ann and daughter, Serina. Between the two of them, they have 5 kids. George was born in Youngstown, Ohio. He and his family moved to Texas to an air force base when he was five. When George was 16, he moved back with his mom to Youngstown. George worked in retail for years and then went into law enforcement. He functioned as a police officer for 3 years in Mahoning County and then moved into policing in the city of Youngstown for 17 years. He met his wife, Ann, who was also in law enforcement. This past year, George and Anne have begun a new journey into realty! George enjoys being outdoors, hunting, shooting and spending time with his family. He and Anne have been at the Upper Room for about seven months now. Beth and Kate interview Tom Taylor! Tom lives near Columbiana with his wife, Gail, and daughters, Hailey and Gabby. Tom was born in Kennewick, Washington. He was adopted at two weeks old and was raised in Lewiston, Idaho. Tom worked in retail at local and not-so-local Albertons for 20 years. He met his wife, Gail, who also worked at Albertons, and they were married in their 20's. They've been married for 25 years in May! Tom enjoys being outdoors, camping, riding ATV's and spending time with his family. 11 years ago, Tom joined the Love's Travel Stops company which brought him to Ohio a few years ago! He and Gail have been a part of the Upper Room for about 4 years now. We're so grateful for Tom and the ways he serves and loves his family and work! If you know Tom, you know he loves Jesus, his family and the outdoors. Beth and Kate interview the graceful Jesus-lover Gail Taylor! Gail lives in the Columbiana area with her husband, Tom, and a few of her kiddos! She has three altogether - a son, a daughter, Hailey, and a daughter, Gabby. Gail was born in Montana and moved back and forth between Montana and Washington until college, in which she attended the University of Montana and Idaho State. In the midst of college, Gail worked at a west-coast based store, Albertsons. She met Tom at that Albertsons, and they married in 1997. Between the two of them, Gail and Tom have worked in different management/job positions, one of which brought them to Ohio in 2018! Gail enjoys gardening, painting and cycling! While cycling one day on the GreenWay Trail, she met Jim and Dee Brown, who invited her to visit the Upper Room! She decided to visit and has been with us for almost 4 years! We're so grateful for Gail and the ways she serves and loves her family and the people around her! Gail's passion is seeking a more intimate relationship with Jesus and staying close to Holy Spirit so she can hear what He is saying. If you know Gail, you know she loves Jesus, her family, and speaking life and encouragement to people. Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in all of these things! Beth and Kate interview the resourceful and spirit-led Jeremy Lindeman! Jeremy lives in Leetonia with his wife, Sara, and daughter, Lillian. Jeremy was born and raised in Minnesota. Joining the Air Force after high school, he was stationed over the next six years in two bases in South Dakota and Missouri. Hoping to move into airman leadership school position after two tours, Jeremy was instead moved to a blessing-in-disguise position in Missouri. After marrying Sara and receiving a word from God to go back to her family's farm, the Lindemans made their way to Ohio. Jeremy now works for ODOT. He and Sara bought and have been working on a fixer-upper, but have recently purchased land to build, with plans to be back on the farmland. They've been a part of the Upper Room for four years now! We're so grateful for Jeremy and the ways he serves and loves his family and the church! Jeremy presently serves as a deacon, as a part of the prophetic ministry team, and has been a great help to the church and multiple people in the area of fix-its! Functioning so well in both the natural and supernatural aspects of his faith, he's a great example of living out the kingdom with a wrench and hammer AND with a prophetic word.  If you know Jeremy, you know he loves Jesus, his family, the outdoors, helping others, and speaking life and encouragement to people. Beth and Kate interview the smart and sarcastic wordsmith, Brian! Brian lives in Canfield with his wife, Hope, and three kids, Gwen, Emmett, and Leo. Brian grew up as a Columbiana Clipper but has since gone to school and lived in Nashville and Columbus. After returning from city living in Columbus in 2018, Brian joined a law firm and made partner in 2021. Although his specific focus in law is business litigation, he is interested and cares deeply about seeing justice seen in the system, specifically for women, children and those in socio-economic brackets that can be overlooked. Brian loves, plays and writes music. Although on hiatus, he's participated on the church's worship team and has also been in multiple bands.  Brian has been with the Upper Room family since about 2002, when he started visiting the youth group! We're so grateful for Brian and the ways he serves and works towards social issues, the ways he loves his family, and the ways he encourages us to worship. If you know Brian, you know he loves some good competition, some old-school emo and punk music, and an afternoon out on the gold course. His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he does all these things! Listen and hear from Brian as he encourages us to think well, read well, discuss well and argue well. 

Beth and Kate interview the wonderful, helping, bold and insightful Ellen Frost! Ellen lives in Columbiana with her 14-month-old son, Luke. Ellen grew up and now lives on her family's four-generation-old tree farm. After graduating from Columbiana, Ellen attended Kent to become a nurse and is has been a RN, BSN, C-EFM labor and deliver nurse at St. E's in Boardman since 2013. Always the adventurer, she's not only been helping to deliver babies in Boardman! Ellen was also a traveling nurse throughout the US for a time several experiences out west. When it comes to motherhood, Ellen began the process of pregnancy with a donor in 2019 and had Luke in 2021! He is a true joy and answer to prayer for Ellen.  Ellen has been with the Upper Room family since 2018! We're so grateful for Ellen and the ways she serves and loves her family and the hospital community at St. E's! If you know Ellen, you know she loves the outdoors, trying new things/traveling, and helping to bring babies safely into this world. Beth and Kate interview the very real, unique, chili-extraordinaire, James Engel! James lives in Lisbon with his wife, Deanne, and their two grand-daughters. James has two grown girls of his own - Brittany and Kailee. James was born in Warren, Ohio, and brought up in Columbiana. Raised mainly by his mom, James grew up for some of his childhood years at the Upper Room! James has worked in restaurants and banks; he's been a delivery driver, a painter, a powder coaters, a bouncer and bar tender. About 5 years ago James broke his back and has spent the last few years learning how to process through pain management on a daily basis. Through all of this, James has grown deeply in empathy and patience. We're so grateful for James, his awesome life, and for the ways he loves the people around him. If you know James, you know he loves his football (go Chiefs!), his grandbabies, his family, and the constant friendship of Jesus! His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he has learned to care for and be with people and how he has walked through mental struggle. Beth and Kate interview the lovely, tenacious and seasoned Deanne Engel! Deanne lives in Lisbon with her husband, James, her son, Patrick, and two grand-daughters. Deanne was born in New Jersey and moved often in her childhood years. Ending up in Columbiana in 1977, she has spent the rest of her life in the area, having three boys - Zachary, Patrick and Benjamin - with her first husband. Between 2011 - 2012, Deanne remarried and began attending the Upper Room with James! She has been a bank teller, a mail carrier, a retail cashier, a small business development director, accounting professional and a small business owner! Deanne has given her life to serve her family, her parents and the people around her with her time and care and through listening closely to the voice of the Holy Spirit. We're so grateful for Deanne for the ways she loves the people around her. If you know Deanne, you know she loves her grand-daughters, her quiet-time hobbies, all her kiddos, and Jesus! Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she tries to listen closely to the Holy Spirit and obey whenever he speaks. Beth and Kate interview the lovely, lover of learning Chandra Brode! Chandra lives in Columbiana with her husband, Les, and two kids, Devin and Addison. Although she was born in Tampa, FL, Chandra grew up near Lake Erie in Geneva. Throughout and after her schools years, she worked some fascinating jobs. She attended the state highway patrol academy and went into patrolling for the state of Ohio. She has also been a maintenance worker for the state patrol, a police guard for a reserve base, and an EMT. Chandra has used her life to care for people's safety and livelihoods. She has been married to Les for 13 years. She and her family have been at the Upper Room for 6 months!  We're so grateful for Chandra and the ways she serves and loves her family and the church body! If you know Chandra, you know she loves learning, trying new things, and seeing people healthy and thriving! Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she invites her friends to find Jesus and how she encourages her friends and family to know Jesus better. Beth and Kate interview a true helper, a jack-of-all-trades, and good guy - Kevin Williams! Kevin lives in Leetonia with his wife, Cheryl, and two girls, Kasey and Chloe. Growing up in California, Kevin began learning how to firefight at 15. Later, he worked multiple jobs while volunteering for fire and EMS. He also spent time in California and Ohio working dispatch. Kevin has enjoyed using his life to care for people and offer them help and security.  After moving to Ohio, Kevin and Cheryl made a life for themselves - marrying, finding a church, having kids, and building a home in Leetonia. He and his family have been at the Upper Room for 2 1/2 years. We're so grateful for Kevin and all the ways he serves and loves his family and those around him! If you know Kevin, you know he loves his family, he cares about helping people, and he knows a lot! Whether it's fixing, plumbing, building, saving, firefighting, smoking meats, etc. - he can do it! His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he cares about people's livelihoods and in his deep loyalty to people. Beth and Kate interview the smart, fun and wonderful Jarred Kalina! Jarred lives in Columbiana and is currently attending YSU! Focusing on computer science, he's also interning at ACME Corp. Jarred is the son of Jeff and Marcia Kalina and is a brother to Marissa. Along with school and interning, Jarred is a manager at Subway. Stop by sometime and get a sub! Jarred enjoys learning and  stretching his understanding, whether it be for school or for faith. He also thrives on the stage and field! Jarred enjoys singing and acting, and has also played soccer. Jarred has been at the Upper Room for about 2 years. We're so grateful for Jarred and the way he loves his family, his girlfriend, Columbiana, and his church family at the Upper Room. If you you've ever been to church, he's always serving by running the overhead. His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he graciously and selflessly serves us every week, in the way he loves and encourages his friends, and in the way he shines his light at school and work. Beth and Kate interview the fun and fiesty Gloria Pitt! Gloria lives in Canfield with her husband, Cary. They have three adult children and five grandchildren! Gloria went straight into banking after graduation, married Cary, raised three children, had a stint as a florist, and served in the church throughout her life. While she has loved and served her family and church, she has also been wonderfully creative and artsy in so many ways! Whether it's sewing, diamond dots, art, making purses and bags or crafting, Gloria has a talent for figuring out what she wants to make and then making it! Gloria also loves worship and music. Gloria and Cary have been at the Upper Room for about 6 years. We're so grateful for Gloria and the way she shows the amazing creativity of God! We're also so grateful for her ministry with Helping Hands, and all of her handwritten cards to the Upper Room family. If you know Gloria, you know she is so real and so fun and as feisty as they come! Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she makes, the way she gives, and the way she serves the church and her family so kindly. Beth and Kate interview the Bob Murphy! Bob lives in Columbiana with his wife, Rhonda. They have four adult children, and six grandkids! Although his plans were towards degreeing in music education at Kent State, Bob ended up played the tuba, trombone and electric bass in the Navy Band, traveling all over the world. After coming home, Bob drove truck for over 40 years. Since retiring, Bob has been working on cars, carts, cycles - anything that runs and has a motor! He has so much background and wisdom and experience in a array of topics, which means he has a story and discussion for all occasions! Although Bob knows a lot about things, he really cares deeply about our inner lives - how we think and feel and learn and see Jesus. He enjoys conversations about perspective and experience and faith. Bob also cares deeply about music. He's been on the worship team for a very long time and presently in one of the bass players. Bob has been at the Upper Room for about 27 years. We're really grateful for Bob and the way he loves he loves the Upper Room through his gifted and talented service of worship. If you know Bob, you know he loves when the music hits right, when there's deep and purposeful talk to express thoughts, and you know he loves his wife, kids, and extended family. His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he gives his time to people so freely. Beth and Kate interview the sweet Jan Fellenger! Jan lives in Lisbon with her husband, Denny. They have two adult children, Steve and Denise, and three grandchildren! Growing up, Jan accepted Jesus when she was 5 years old. Jan is one of three siblings and has had the honor of being in a family of multiple generations who love and serve Jesus. Jan married Denny, who became a pastor, and she moved multiple times with him throughout Ohio as he moved from pastorate to pastorate. She cares deeply for children and has taught full-time as a teacher for about 45 years! Working with elementary children up to 5th grade, Jan taught in the public and private schools, finally retiring a few years ago. Jan and Denny have been at the Upper Room for about 10 years. We're so grateful for Jan and the way she loves her family, specifically as she gives her time to her grandkids! If you know Jan, you know she loves her family dearly and believes in the power of prayer. Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she graciously cares for her family and the way she remains an example of a faithful follower of Jesus. Beth and Kate interview the lovely, knowledgeable and caring Cheryl Williams! Cheryl lives in Leetonia with her husband, Kevin, and two girls, Kasey and Chloe. Growing up in California, Cheryl was one of five siblings and loved to play volleyball. After moving to Ohio, Cheryl joined Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Boardman as the Registered Nurse Team Lead. She cares deeply for her patients and the nursing staff, working hard to see excellence in all areas. Cheryl and her family have been at the Upper Room for 2 1/2 years. We're so grateful for Cheryl and all the ways she serves and loves her family and the community, specifically at the hospital! If you know Cheryl, you know she loves her family so much and she is also passionate about making sure that nurses have all the information, education, and encouragement they need. Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she patiently and lovingly works with staff around her. Beth and Kate interview the serving, helpful and kind Jeff Kalina! Jeff is husband to Marcia and dad of two: Marissa and Jarred. Originally from Bergholz, Ohio, Jeff made his way to Columbiana to graduate, marry Marcia and join the Army Reserves. While in the Army Reserves for 21 years, Jeff worked multiple jobs and served at church. Jeff loves his family and loves people. He cares for people often in the way of service, for which we are so grateful! He is presently one of the Upper Room's sound men and you may see him working behind the scenes in other capacities too! We're so grateful to have Jeff and his family as a new part of the Upper Room family - they've now been with us 2 for years. If you know Jeff, you know he is in the details of his work, organized and prepared to do his job well and ready to care for people around him. His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he loves his family, his kids, and his humble spirit showing kindness to us all!

Beth and Kate interview the compassionate and amazing Kelli Hephner! Kelli is wife to Greg and mother of three kids, Morgan, Ben and Jonathan. Kelli grew up a farm girl, but has since set out to accomplish so much! With people being her life's passion, Kelli has worked in caregiving and serving on the county's EMS team. She is presently Columbiana's chaplain. She's continuing her education to be certified to care for first responders. Kelli also founded Heroes and Halos, a non-profit that cares for special-needs children and their families through support groups, meals, Christmas gifts, etc. Check them out on their Facebook page! Kelli has been at the Upper Room for under a year! We're so grateful to have Kelli as a new part of the Upper Room family, and so grateful for her really beautiful work with so many people in our community. If you know Kelli, you know she loves Jesus and loves to serve people who are in need or who are struggling. Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she gives so much of her life and time to bring goodness and help to Columbiana and the surrounding areas!

Beth and Kate interview the wonderful, amazing, one and only Marta Aker! Marta is wife to Greg and mother of two grown kids, Shawn and Leslie. She has three grandchildren. Marta was an art teacher for many years but is now retired and gives so much of her time and love to the Upper Room body and so many others! Apart from  working as an art teacher, Marta spent years homeschooling, hosting small groups and families in her home, using her creative abilities to decorate homes and spaces all over! Since caretaking for her mother, brother and grandkids in the past, she now spends her great days ministering to women, serving at the Way Station, and holding several roles at the Upper Room in missions council and grounds keeping. Marta has been at the Upper Room for over 40 years! We're so grateful for Marta, for her beautiful example of caring, watching, organization, and beauty. If you know Marta, you know she loves Jesus and serves him with a whole mind and whole heart. Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she loves people so much and the plethora of ways she gives of herself to serve so many!

Beth and Kate interview our wise talent and wonderful helper, Cary Pitt! Cary is husband to Gloria and father of three grown kids. Cary is now retired, but worked at GM for 39 years. He now spends his lovely days woodworking, glass working, doing fix-it service jobs at the URF, and spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He also helps to keep the URF looking beautiful through his amazing and creative abilities (check out the beautiful bench outside at the playground)! Cary and Gloria have been at the Upper Room since 2015. We're so grateful for Cary, for his service to our nation, for his care in the home, for his help at the church, and for his bright and joyful light that he shines so brightly. If you know Cary, you know he love Jesus with his whole self - He loves on and will talk about Jesus wherever he is! His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way Cary lives, his day to day walk, his time at the Community Center, and his serving and giving heart to all! 

Beth and Kate interview the very-interesting, always-learning, wonderful Michael Keffer! Michael is husband to Denise and dad to Samantha. Michael works as an engineer and has a myriad of hobbies when he's not working! He has tried his hand at timber-framing, sawmilling, metal-working, kayaking, and the list goes on. Michael is great with numbers and details, likes using his mind, and loves his family! Michael and Denise have been at the Upper Room for four years. We're so grateful for Michael and for his service as an usher and a greeter at church! If you know Michael, you know he desires to love and serve well, he desires to learn and put that learning to practice, and he desires to keep growing. His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he loves his family, serves those around him, and willingly gives his time and wise advice to others. Beth and Kate interview one of the founders of the Upper Room - the gracious, patient and Jesus-loving Bruce Stryffeler! Bruce is husband to Monica and dad to Arielle and Owen. Bruce has been with the Upper Room since day one! When he's not working at the church, Bruce is busy running his car-interior repair business. Bruce is great with details - he recently put together our Values in the Kingdom curriculum (published in book form and on Amazon!), and has been organizing our prayer initiatives for 12 years! We're so grateful for Bruce and all the ways he serves the URF - as a leader, as a pastor, in finance, leading and participating in small groups, running and creating Sunday schools, being on the worship team - and the list goes on! If you know Bruce, you know he does all this because he is passionate about loving Jesus and showing people how good Jesus really is. His love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way he loves his family and serves the church so beautifully. Beth and Kate interview the sweet, wonderful and wise Peggy Chestnut! Peggy lives in Lisbon. She has three adult kids and three grandkids! Peggy cares so much for her family and for people and has spent a good portion of her life caring for the developmentally disabled. She worked at the Developmental Disability Board for 30 years! Peggy has been at the Upper Room for 8 years. We're so grateful for Peggy and all the ways she serves the URF - as a greeter, at the Welcome Center, in Helping Hands, leading and participating in small groups, and in the prayer ministry! If you know Peggy, you know she is passionate about worship. Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen in the way she loves her family and serves the church so beautifully. Beth and Kate interview the kind-hearted, gracious prayer warrior Jean Maxwell! Jean lives with her husband Mark in Columbiana. She has three adult kids and 8 grandkids! Jean cares so much for her family. She has been a teacher in the East Palestine School District for 27 years.  Jean has been at the Upper Room for 5 years! We're so grateful for Jean and all the ways she serves the URF - in greeting and at the Welcome Center! If you know Jean, you know she is passionate about prayer. Beth and Kate interview the gifted, passionate and people-loving Greg Aker! Greg is husband to Marta and dad to Shawn and Leslie. After working as an art teacher for 37 years, he is currently the administrative pastor at the Upper Room! Greg cares deeply for his family and for people and for the body of Christ! He desires to see the Church fulfilling its roll in loving the world and bringing in the kingdom. Greg and Marta have been at the Upper Room for 44 years! We're so grateful for Greg and the all many ways he serves the URF and city of Columbiana - in pastoring, administration, CCMA president, small group leader, Foundations class teacher, and more! Jessica is a wife to Jon and mom to Livia, Eliana, Alexandria, and Jonathan. She is currently a working mom who's at home during the day and does remote accounting work at night! Jess cares deeply for her children, her family, and for people! She desires to see her kids raised up in a way that honors God and creates opportunities for them to love Jesus and be free in who they're meant to be. Jessica and her family have been at the Upper Room for a year and a half. We're so grateful for her and the ways she serves! the URF - Like praying for us on Thursdays, greeting us in the lobby and caring for our kids during the sermon! If you know Jess, you know she's passionate about teaching her kids about Jesus and loving others around her. Her love for and example of Jesus can be seen as she prays for us on Thursdays, greets us in the lobby on Sunday mornings and cares for our kids during the sermon! Beth and Kate interview our beloved teaching pastor, the intelligent and talented Chris Holm! Chris is the husband to Kate and dad to Cana and Corinne. He currently works for the Upper Room and for a fire safety company, Fire Force. Chris loves his family. He also loves to learn, to try new things, and being creative in many different ways. He enjoys reading and thinking and good discussions (especially if it's during a game of golf). He is the dad of Becky, Connie, Sarah, Eric and Kurt, who passed away at birth. He is currently being a great grandpa, working with oil painting, and continuing to love sports! John cares deeply for his family and participates in his grandkids' lives by attending their games as much as possible! We're so grateful for who he is and what he brings to the body of Christ! Beth and Kate Holm interview our favorite Macho Man, Randy Savage, our favorite ZZTop Billy Gibbons --- Brayden Tucker! Brayden is dad to Lathen and husband to Jen. He currently works for and own his own business, Dying Breeds Diesels. Brayden stays busy buying, selling, and exporting vintage trucks and keeping up with his online-family of about 156 thousand people on the Dying Breed Facebook page! He has been a part of the Upper Room for about 2 years. Brayden loves spending time with his family and being a friend to others. We're so grateful for all the ways Brayden has expressed love to the church, but also to other people around him who don't know Jesus! If you know Brayden, you know he is as real as it gets. He might have a tough exterior, but he is so loving and embraces people so so well! Beth and Kate Holm interview the humorous, beautiful and persevering Denise Kuhlman! Denise is the mom to Robert and Ellena. Denise currently works for the Family Recovery Center with Columbiana County teaching prevention and social/emotional skills with K-6th grade. She is about to begin working on her masters degree at YSU. She has been a part of the Upper Room for 9 years. Denise adores her kids and cats and enjoys running, exercise, watching movies and naps! Now that her kids are moving in adulthood, she's moving into an exciting new season of schooling and seeing her long-awaited dreams fulfilled of becoming a counselor. We're so grateful for all the ways Denise has expressed love to the church and to others! Denise has a desire to serve others through counseling, through knowing people well and through giving her time to her friends and family. Jim is husband to Vicki and the dad of two from a previous marriage where his wife had passed. After 60 years in the education field, he is currently in an advisor role with Valley Christian School in Youngstown. Jim cares deeply for children's well-being and their mental and emotional health. In the past, he loved to fly and owned multiple planes. He also enjoys wood working in larger projects, such as building kitchens! Jim and Vicki have been at the URF since 2019, and we're grateful for them! Beth and Kate Holm interview the super-fascinating, Jesus-loving and joy-filled Lisa Labon! Lisa is the wife to Ed and mom to Madison, Kira and Zach. Lisa is currently an American Sign Language Interpreter for the deaf and a consultant and webinar co-host for an organization committed to equal access and opportunity for people with disabilities. She just recently finished her Masters degree in Human Services Counseling with a focus in Crisis Response and Trauma. She has been a part of the Upper Room for 3 years. Although Lisa hails from California, she has moved from Virginia to Pennsylvania to Ohio! Her hobbies include camping, biking, paddle boarding, and enjoying God in the great outdoors! Since coming to the Pennsylvania and Ohio, Lisa has loved serving her family through homeschooling. Now that her kids are adults, she's moving into an exciting new season!  We're so grateful for all the ways Lisa has expressed love to the church and to others! Lisa has a deep desire to help, serve and see the hurting healed. If you know Lisa, you know she is passionate about seeing people freed up and working with Jesus towards healthy wholeness! Beth and Kate Holm interview the fascinating and fun story-teller, Larry Campbell! Larry is the husband to Ethel and father to three children, two boys and one girl, Kassie. Both Kassie and his second wife passed away in 2010 of cancer. Larry served in the U.S. army and was sent to Vietnam for one year. Larry is currently retired and enjoying his days with Ethel as he enjoys feeding the birds and squirrels, going to garage sales, and camping in cabins at a local KOA. He has been a part of the Upper Room family for 9 years. Larry loves to love and serve people in lots of different ways. He shows the love of Jesus well! From giving away his time, money, and food, Larry knows how to hear and obey the quiet voice of the Lord. If you know Larry, you know he's got some great stories to share about his amazing life! Beth and Kate Holm interview the wise, beautiful and fun Milly Acevedo! Milly is the wife to William and mom to Manolo, Diego and Marcos. Milly currently works in financial services with Primerica. She is part of the Upper Room, but is also involved with the Hispanic Ministry and church, Esperanza De Vida in Salem, Ohio. She has been a worship leader, Sunday School teacher, and teacher in the United States. In Guatemala, where Milly was born and raised, she helped to run a church and was a seminary professor. Since coming to the states, Milly loves to serve her family, the church, and those in need. We're so grateful for all the ways Milly has expressed love to so many in so many different ways! Milly has a deep desire for the lost to know Jesus. If you know Milly, you know she is passionate about creating ways to better be able to give to the church and those in need. He loves to help those who are needy, who have struggled and seen hardship. We're so grateful for all the ways William has loved people well. Emily is a wife to Michael and mom to Emerson. She is a dental hygienist, a realtor, and Court Street Recording's manager. Emily has been impacted in many ways and in many places, but most specifically by the death of her hero and father, Terry Coulter. Emily credits her love of work and of people to the example of her dad. Being excellent at her jobs and excellent in her gifts and creativity, Emily shines in so many different directions! After a 14-weeks for further training in Texas, Josh also now holds the role of officer in the air force. Wherever and whatever he's doing, Josh brings excellence, hope and a powerful work ethic. Makayla is a senior at Heartland Christian who has been fully involved in the school, the Upper Room, and in so many other places and ways! Through service projects, mission projects, volleyball, serving as school chaplain and junior deacon, NHS, the Buddy Program, etc., Makayla has given her high school experience her all! At the moment, Makayla is preparing to finish high school and head to Waynesburg University! She'll be working towards a degree in nursing. If you know Makayla, you know her plate is full but that she does it so happily! Her love for Jesus can be seen as she serves others, gives generously and loves her friends and family well. At the moment, he is a realtor with a roving eye for opportunity and business. Beth and Kate interview the woman of many talents, the kind-hearted and lovely Laura Halford! After a ten-year hiatus in Texas, Laura is back to grow some more roots in her home state of Ohio. We couldn't be happier to have her back! She is the wife of Christian, with whom she shares two cats, Gary and Floyd! Although Laura is our office manager and also leads the coffee team at the church, she also works as head-bakery chef and a manager at Homestead Restaurant at Firestone Farms. He is the husband of Dee and they share three kids, seven grandkids and two great-grandkids! Years ago God set Jim free from alcoholism and Jim's life was never the same! Jim loves the Lord with all his heart and you can see that clearly through his worship and presence at church, the amazing ways he loves his family and people around him. Beth and Kate interview the beautiful and amazing Megan Osborn! Megan has used her God-given gifts to light up the world in so many ways, but especially to kids. As an educator, Megan was a talented pre-k teacher who now writes children's curriculum for the Upper Room and teaches different classes. Megan is also the mom to Riley, Finley, and Callie and the wife of Josh. She has gained experience over the last few years in public speaking, oftentimes giving her testimony of her experience of giving birth to twins at 23 weeks and 6 days. Although Finley has gone to be with Jesus, Riley has become a shining light and example of goodness to the world, just like her mama! Megan expresses the love of Jesus to her family, her children, and the Upper Room so brightly! Listen and hear from Megan about how important it is to try and how anxiety and fear don't have to be front and center when Jesus comes into the picture!

He has worked in manual labor, owned a business and served in church ministry! Presently Ron, in all his energy, owns and runs Fire Force, continues to serve in different capacities at the Upper Room, loves his large family, and dreams big about all the possibilities of their farm! Ron's story is one of God's faithfulness, the importance of obedience to Jesus and the power of the holy spirit in our lives. Beth and Kate interview the father of Dannia and Abby, husband of Carmen, a missionary to Salem, Ohio, and pastor at Esperanza De Vida (Hope of Life) - the one and only Manuel Lux! Moving from Guatemala to the states in order to serve the Latino population in our area, Manuel uses his education, giftings and call from Jesus to love people and serve them well! Manuel has ministered over the years in areas of Guatemala, Mexico City, and now in Salem. Working so diligently to express the love of Jesus, he visits jails, hospitals, apartments and homes, transports people in need, and offers help to so many. Listen and hear from Manuel that there's a big difference between being at a church and being a child of God!

Beth and Kate interview the mother of the Upper Room Fellowship, Shirley Stryffeler. Shirley and her late husband. Russ, let their young sons use the 'upper room' of their veterinarian's office almost 50 years ago. Although it's initial intention was to share the gospel and have coffee, it soon became a worship time and bible study, which then eventually became a beautiful church! Shirley not only gave some of their work space to be used for the cause of Jesus. Shirley has faithfully given her life in many different areas of love, prayer and sacrifice to see Jesus work in her family, church family, and the community in Columbiana. We honor Shirley for the impact she has had in all of our lives. Whether we are aware of it or not, her 'yes' to Jesus has changed the history of so many lives and the city of Columbiana as a whole. Listen and hear from Shirley how God saved her from religion and uses our small beginnings to do great things. 

Beth and Kate interview a woman who's found her purpose by obedience to Jesus! Our wonderful and lovely Jenelle Keller! Jenelle lives a life that she never had imagined for herself - and she loves it!  Presently a stay-at-home and homeschooling mom, Jenelle is enjoying ministering intentionally to her husband and kids.  Jenelle's story is one of answered prayers, a changed mind, and willingness to do new things !
