103: Start Living For YOU, Not For Your JOB
Work to live, don't live to work. Don't be a supporting character in your own life. Don't live in the margins of your own life. These are all quotes I've heard over the years and for some reason that last one in particular hit home. Because I spent well over a decade living in the margins of my own life, and I don't want to do it anymore. And I don't want you to either.

102: Be Kind - Your Stress Resiliency is LOW
Piggy backing on last week's episode on boundaries, today Suzi is chatting more about where we are physically and how our stress resiliency is lower now than it has been at most any other time in the pandemic so it's critical that we are kind to ourselves, and others as we ease back into life and start to rebuild that resilience.

101: Let's try out some new BOUNDARIES
As we slowly start to make our way back to "normal" life, it's going to be easy to fall back into the "overbooked" and "overbusy" traps we had fallen in re-pandemic. But if there is anything most of us learned over this past 1 1/2 years it is that we seem to enjoy a slower, less hectic life than we were living. But the pressure is going to be there to go back to doing #AllTheThings making now the perfect time to try out some new boundaries. Yes, it's hard but we can do it!

95: Completing the Stress Cycle
When we experience a stressful situation in our lives it triggers a new stress cycle in our body. In a perfect world, we go through the stress cycle to competition so our body can back into a state of homeostasis. Unfortunately, many times we start a stress cycle and never complete it, so it's still running in the background causing havoc on our bodies. And for many of us, we have hundreds of incomplete stress cycles still running in the background - yikes! In today's episode, we are going to learn how we can start completing those cycles and getting back to a place of balance. Connect with me on Instagram @suziconfesses

91: Toxic Positivity
Toxic positivity is becoming more and more problematic as people choose to share "love and light" and tell people to "stay positive" instead of allowing others (and themselves) to feel their feelings. Feelings aren't good or bad, being sad, mad, or angry is a reaction to something and a way for you to process what is going on. And you need those feelings. In today's episode, Suzi talks about how toxic positivity is making people unnecessarily feel bad about having emotions. Instagram: @suziconfesses facebook.com/confessionsofafitnessinstructor

90: You need to be SURVIVING before you can worry about THRIVING

84: What is NEAT and why is it more important for weight loss than exercise?
For so many years most of us have thought that in order to lose weight we needed to exercise more and eat less. Well, that's only sorta true. For the average person, NEAT is more important for overall energy expenditure. But what the heck is NEAT? In today's episode, Suzi answers just that and also explains what other factors determine how much energy you burn on a daily basis.

83: Beware of Before & Afters
Before and after photos are the standard in the fitness & wellness industry to demonstrate how effective a program is, but basing someone's overall wellness on their outward appearance is an outdated way to prove how healthy someone is or isn't. 75: Stop making goals based on the person you want to be, not the person you are
We've all heard that you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have and that adopting the mentality of the type of person you want to be can help you achieve that goal faster, and that is true. But when it comes to health and wellness goals, and even financial goals, it's important to really assess the person you are NOW and make your goals based on the foundation you have already created. Because jumping to the top of the pyramid in this type of situation is going to leave you on unsteady ground and 9 times out of 10 you're going to fall. 59: Are you doing what's right for YOU or what's right for everyone else?
Recently I had to give myself a lecture. Actually, I have to give myself a lot of lectures and this was one that I thought maybe you needed to hear too. Because putting the needs of others ahead of our own is something many of us do without thinking about it, and something we do to our own determent.

58: It's NOT too late to start off those September goals
September is the "other" New Year and many people plan all summer to kick-off their new goals on September 1st. But then Sept 1st comes and goes, and Labour Day comes and goes and the next thing you know it's mid-September and you haven't started yet. Well, guess what? I think Mid-September is an EVEN better time to start than September 1st and I'll tell you why in today's episode. Episode 56: Your Body Can't Lie
After a bit of a break I'm back! Today's episode started off with the intention to be about one thing but turned into something else entirely, and I'm not mad about it. I'm talking more about how this pandemic has pushed my hand in making changes to my business that have needed making for YEARS, and how your body simply doesn't have the capacity to lie - but your mind DOES. This episode is a bit longer than my average but I hope you'll find the stroll through my brain helpful and maybe will allow you to think a bit more about what your body has been trying to tell YOU. follow me at: @suziconfesses & @thewellnesssimplifiedpodcast email me at info@suzifevens.ca

53: You Don't Know Any Perspective But Your Own
It's been a hot minute since we had a regular podcast episode, but I'm finally feeling like it's time to get back to business as usual at least here! Today I want to talk a bit about perspective, and how some self-help gurus are telling people that if they shift their mindset and perspective about the pandemic it will help them get through it more easily, and I disagree. For some people yes, it's as easy as changing your perspective, but for the vast majority of people, that advice is more hurtful than helpful. Listen to today's episode to hear more. Square Breathing
In today's episode, we are going to focus on a simple breathing exercise - square breathing. You may know it by a different name, it's basically the process of breathing in, pausing, exhaling, and pausing. It helps to slow and deepen your breath. Some people may find after a couple of rounds of square breathing that they need to stop and breathe normally for a few breaths, so that's what we do in the episode - enjoy!

52: Meditation for Forgiveness

51: Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep is another amazing type of meditation. Similar to the body scan we did a few weeks ago, this type of meditation allows you to focus your attention inwardly as you fall into the "in-between" state between awake and asleep. Studies have shown that a short Yoga Nidra practice is as restful on the body as an extra couple hours of sleep, making it a wonderful practice those days when you are feeling groggy but don't have time for a long nap or rest.

47: Reasons your weight might be up that have nothing to do with gaining actual weight

45: Don't put all your happiness "eggs" in one basket
Yesterday both my websites and email were down for the entire day. I think all in all I was down for around 40 hours. It was completely out of my control, web servers that went down and I had no choice but to wait around for the restoration. This was a bit of a drag, but because I don't operate all of my business from those two sites, it really only hindered a small part of my business. But it really got me thinking about those who depend solely on their website for their revenue. Understandably they were a bit wound up, but instead of being upset with our webhost, I think this serves as a good opportunity for them to really look at their business model. Because rarely is it wise to keep all your eggs in one basket. Which is what led me to today's episode. As much as it's true for business, it's also true in our personal lives.
