"DWELL" is our word for 2023.  We wants God's word to find it's home in us and us in it. 

Disciples are developed by dwelling in God's Word! DWELL! That's our word for 2023! Let the Word of God dwell richly in us and make a home there! 

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us!

Advice tells us to "behave" but the Good News of Christmas tells us to "Believe"!

Humility.

The life of John the Baptist is one who knows who he isn't, who he is because of who God says he is, and who Christ is.

Advent teaches us Humility. We need a savior and Christ was born to save us. 

Repent is the word of Advent! Repentance is not just turning from our sin but turning to the greater love of God! John the Baptist's life teaches us in order to receive Jesus we must first repent! 

Did you know that the blank page in your bible between the old testament and the new testament represents 400 years of silence? That during that time no one on earth had recieved a new revelation from the Lord.  

God's silence was finally broken by sending an angel to Zachariah.  The angel says that they have heard his prayers.... wow! What a beautiful way to end the silence.  

Our Big Idea is this: God's silence does not equal God's absence.  

Our God is always present and at work.  And when He is silent, it is way more about us than Him.  What do we do in the midst of the silence?

As we close our series, "The Upper Room", we take a minute and look back at all the things that God has done through this series, and OH MY GOODNESS! What a blessing! All because we "took the next step." When we look at John 17 we see Jesus pray. We can learn so much from his prayer. We see Jesus prays for himself, he prays for believers, and then prays for non-believers. The primary way that God forms us into disciples is through prayer, and communication is key to every relationship; Our relationship with God is no different!

Even in the midst of suffering, an upper room disciple can be filled with joy, love, and peace! 

Upper Room Disciples live holy lives because the Holy Spirit lives in them. 

This week in "The Upper Room" we see that an Upper Room disciple is hated by the enemy. We can define the enemy as 3 things: The Flesh, Satan and Demons, and The World. As a 21st Century Christian we find ourselves comfortable with our faith and forget that being a Christian is a radical thing! We ask ourselves "Do we as a church really experience the type of opposition that Jesus is talking about?" and "Does our love and obedience to Jesus cost us anything?". Radical obedience is motivated by REAL love. What radical step of obedience is Jesus leading YOU to take?

This week in our series we look at John 15: 1-17. We see that Upper Room Disciples are fruitful in their lives by making their home in Jesus! The closer we are to Jesus, the better our lives will. The further we are from Jesus the worse our lives will be. Can we change our lives? Yes, but being at home in Jesus is the only way we can!

This week in our series we examine John 14: 15-31. We see that Upper Room Disciples are helped by the Holy Spirit to hold on to God's commandments. In order to understand this we ask the questions: Who is the Holy Spirit? What does the Holy Spirit do? and How do we get the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the Power and Presence of Jesus living inside the people of God, and the good news of the gospel is that Jesus gave up his Spirit so that we may have the Holy Spirit in our supernatural life!

This week in "The Upper Room" we look at John 14: 1-14. In the scripture we see that Upper Room Disciples are hopeful in heart when we hold onto the promises of God. We define Hope as the confident expectation that what God has said, will happen! All through this chapter we see many promises of God, and we can rest on these promises when we find our hearts troubled. 

This week in our series "The Upper Room" we see what it looks like to Love One Another. As we look in John 13: 31-38, we see that there are four points when it comes to Love. We find that Love is not a feeling, but a commandment, and that we cannot love until we first receive love from Jesus!

This week we take a pause on "Upper Room" sermon series and welcome a special guest Alex Clark to share his story. We look at Simon Peter through Luke's gospel to see that God can always do more. Alex also shares his story about his family and their son Judah, and how God uses life's interruptions as His interactions!

This week on the Rest of the Sermon we talk about the wise, the foolish, and the evil as well as some big things that are coming up this month as we "Fall" into October!

This week in our sermon series "The Upper Room" we see that disciples are honest about sin because of our hope in our savior, Jesus Christ! In the scripture we see that although Judas was close in proximity to Jesus, that does not mean that he was intimate with him. We can define sin as complete and total self-absorption at the cost of everything else, including God, but the beautiful thing is: There is more grace, love, and mercy in Jesus Christ than there is sin in us!

As we dive into the text of John 13 we find that Humble Service is the mark of EVERY Disciple. In this episode, we find that through scripture we are never too busy to serve and although it is hard, Jesus even served Judas!
