Lessons from an Outdoor Rink
I built an outdoor hockey rink. It was an absolutely surreal experience. Deep down, well below its superficial roots, the outdoor rink taught me so much more about myself (and life in general), and despite learning some of these lessons earlier in life, the outdoor rink became a reminder of those things, those little things, the important things, that sometimes we forget. So, let's not forget any longer.

The Diet Dilemma
Let’s talk about a famous word. It is used all, too often, but is vital to our daily life. The word is diet!
(Sighs) This word. It kills me a lot of the time. I find that it gets used way out of context, way too much. I even find that health and fitness professionals use the word wrong a lot.
Even more of a problem is that the word diet often comes with a negative connotation. It is not used favorably. It is almost as if it brings up hidden emotions or triggers lost feelings…which now that I think of it, can be true.
So, let's reframe the word diet!
Toughen Up Your Resiliency
On the menu today, I want to discuss a few articles that I have read that have gotten me thinking. Scrolling through social media (as everyone does these days) I came across two articles, and those articles brought back to mind some tweets I had also seen before. The first article was in the New York Times last week, and it discussed “What Makes Some People More Resilient than Others”. The second article was titled “30 Signs of Soul Exhaustion”.
Before I continue, what is resiliency? We have all heard the word before. I am sure you heard it growing up, “you have to more resilient?”. So, what is it? A quick online search will give you this definition: resilience is the ability to recover from difficult experiences and setbacks, to adapt and move forward, and sometimes even experience growth.
Online Learning - The Education Experiment
Over the last few weeks, schools from across the country have been getting back into session. Some schools have started full-in person, some hybrid, and some strictly remote or online.
The problem with this situation it is during a pandemic, the greatest scientific experiment in human history playing in front of everyone’s eyes.
The episode dives into the positives and negatives of online learning.
The Cancellation of College Sports
Today I am serving up quite a topic that has far-reaching ramifications. From the emotional blow to man’s Saturday to the economic impact of games and local communities. I am talking about the canceling of college sports this fall!
Returning to School, or Not?!
School is about to start, or isn’t it? Traditionally-speaking, within the next week, students from across the country will grab their back packs on hop on buses, get in their cars, or tie their shoes and begin the journey of the new school year. It is an exciting time of the year. Forget January 1st, the school year marks the beginning of all things new and the great opportunities on the horizon. But wait, it does not feel exciting at all.
