Rob came from the cruise line world, hotels, as well as Information Technology as a sales executive and project coordinator. When Rob left IT he was originally looking to do project management. When visiting his late father some 10 years ago for dinner, they discussed Rob’s future. His late father was a prolific homebrewer and winemaker. He convinced Rob, due to his mixology background from hotels and event centers, to pursue the wine and beer industries.

From there Rob worked for a private wine and beer tasting events company locally and took over their TV spot. When they decided to close their business, Rob took the TV spot and rebranded it into his own outfit called The Drunken Grape®, where the name came from his stepmother during Thanksgiving Dinner in 2015.

Flipping Your Way Out of the 9 to 5

Christophe Herlin is a mechanical engineer by trade; a real estate investor by passion; and a Brazilian by birth. He transferred to Canada in January 2013.

Chris worked as an Engineering Program Manager in the automotive field for 17 years, working for automotive companies. However, in 2015, he decided to venture into real estate investing in Canada along with his full-time job. This venture became a passion, whereby his interest in this field grew as he acquired more properties and learned about the Canadian real estate market; he was buying properties, renovating them, and selling or refinancing them to purchase additional properties.

But then COVID hit in 2020, he dove into real estate investing full-time and soon opened a real estate holding company, and a construction company, and started flipping homes (buying, renovating, and then selling them) in Ontario. In the short period from May 2020 to the present, he has purchased and sold sixteen properties. He feels very gratified that I was able to experience these business successes despite the limitations of a pandemic.

Georges started in 2017 after going to university, getting a job, and then getting fired. He then got his license as a realtor with the intention of becoming a real estate investor. His wife also owned a condo that she rented out and eventually sold to acquire a fourplex. He's scaled from 1 to 17 properties in just under 4 years. His biggest leap happened when he got a coach to help him scale. Georges is now spending a lot more time managing his portfolio while selling less real estate. His net worth has grown substantially and he will eventually reap the rewards of all his sacrifices. It's not an overnight process. Stabilizing the portfolio and smart growth are essentials for the future.
