Start to Finish with Mark Dance | Wake Up Right
Pastors face daily demands of hitting targets of success in every area of life—for the long haul. How are pastors ever supposed to finish well? Pastor, author, and church planter Mark Dance joined us on Wake Up Right recently to discuss the very relevant topic of pastoral success, resilience, and burnout. Mark is the director of pastoral wellness at GuideStone Financial Resources, and in his new book, Start to Finish, he helps ministry leaders find guidance to run the race well from start to finish. He gives pastors a vision of what their lives and ministries could look like when they love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength and love their neighbors as themselves. Mark desires to see pastors thriving in ministry in every season by strategically doing whatever it takes to stay healthy mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Mark highlights how important it is to start with being a Great Commandment pastor, missionary, or minister before being a Great Commission pastor, missionary, or minister. Speaking from both his own experience and struggles, as well as observing others', Mark encourages pastors to take the very first step: simply asking for help. In Start to Finish, find guidance and encouragement–whether you're just beginning your ministry or have been in ministry thirty years–to serve well, lead well, and finish well.

The Old Made New Tour with Rich Vreeland | Wake Up Right
Rich Vreeland, co-owner of Vreeland's Harley-Davidson in Bloomsburg, PA, joined us on Wake Up Right recently to share how God changed the entire direction of his life starting with quitting his job and taking a cross-country road trip to help his brother detox. Hearing and responding to the gospel changed his life and saved his marriage, and he began using motorcycling and racing as an open door for sharing the gospel.
On The Old Made New Tour Rich and Ray Vreeland are celebrating God's transforming work in their lives by riding restored 1946 and 1939 motorcycles across the country to California for two weeks beginning on June 14. Not only have the bikes have been made new, but even more, Rich and Ray have been made new. Rich and Ray intend to share the gospel as many times as possible along the way, which they also do at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota through offering free oil changes. Follow along with The Old Made New Tour on Instagram (@rich6640) or on Facebook (Rich Vreeland).

In this film series, he sets off to seek answers by traveling to the locations where biblical events are said to have happened. Along the way, he interviews leading archaeologists and scholars from all over the world who argue all sides of the debate about the credibility of the Bible. The biblical stories are retold, accompanied by dramatic reenactments and special effects. Patterns of Evidence lets the viewer draw their own conclusions as it takes them on a journey to the ancient world of the Bible. This refreshingly balanced approach is inspiring and intellectually challenging for both skeptics and believers alike, providing profound new evidence that affirms the Bible. Learn more >

Redeeming Productivity with Reagan Rose | Wake Up Right
We often feel overworked and overrun, defeated, and discouraged. The world says be productive so that you can get all you can out of this life. The Bible says be productive so you can gain more of the next life. In his new book Redeeming Productivity: Getting More Done for the Glory of God, author Reagan Rose explores how God's glory is the purpose for which He planted us, and he shows how productivity must be firmly rooted in the gospel. Only through our connection to Christ—the True Vine—are we empowered to produce good fruit. Reagan joined us on Wake Up Right last week to share about his media ministry (and brand new book of the same name), Redeeming Productivity.
As we enter a new year, we will be surrounded with messages about setting goals, getting more done, and reprioritizing for 2023. Maybe you'll start a new Bible reading plan or devotional. Before you set your goals for 2023, check out Reagan's great book Redeeming Productivity which shows how we can maintain the vitality of our connection to Christ through simple, life-giving disciplines. Readers will discover manageable applications like giving God the first fruits of our days, and Reagan's five pillars of Christian productivity provide theological truths about our relationship to God to form the biblical foundation of productivity for the glory of God. He also discusses how our perspective on suffering is transformed as we see trials as God's pruning for greater productivity.

Fight for Your Pastor with Peter Orr | Wake Up Right
Peter Orr joined us on Wake Up Right during Pastor Appreciation Month to discuss his new book, Fight for Your Pastor. In recent years, a significant number of pastors have faced burnout or considered leaving the ministry. The office of pastor is simultaneously a rewarding and draining position. Pastors today have immense pressure on their shoulders and they need the support of their congregations. It's important to consider: Do you pray for your pastors? Do you encourage them? Do you have realistic expectations for them?
Peter has written Fight for Your Pastor as an exhortation for church members to stand behind their pastors through the difficulties of ministry. Peter specifies ways in which congregations can be intentional in caring for church leaders, including prayer, encouragement, generosity, and forgiveness. Featuring stories from current pastors about their struggles, this book is perfect for thoughtful church members eager to understand the weight of their pastors’ positions and support leaders in their important ministry. Workers for Your Joy with David Mathis | Wake Up Right
We live in an age increasingly cynical about leadership—some of it for good reason, much of it simply the mood of our times. Still, Christ appoints leaders in his church—not as a burden, but as a gift to his people. “He gave . . . the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry” (Ephesians 4:11–12). It was great to have David Mathis on Wake Up Right during Pastor Appreciation Month to talk about his new book on the nature, calling, and work of church leadership, Workers for Your Joy: The Call of Christ on Christian Leaders. This accessible guide aims to serve current and aspiring pastors and elders, as well as church members who want to know the expectations for their leaders and how to pray for them. From the words of Christ to Peter and Paul and Hebrews, the New Testament casts a vision for church leaders that is good news to churches and leaders alike: joyful workers for the joy of their people.
David Mathis serves as senior teacher and executive editor at desiringGod.org, a pastor at Cities Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and an adjunct professor at Bethlehem College & Seminary in Minneapolis. He and his wife, Megan, have four children. He is the author of several books, including Habits of Grace: Enjoying Jesus through the Spiritual Disciplines.

An Unexpected Revival sparks a fire in our longing heart to feel renewed excitement in our relationship with God. Instead of going through the motions, checking the boxes, and wondering why God feels so far away, Ezekiel teaches us to come close and invite God to fill us with fresh fire. God offers His joy, peace, and purpose to any who seek it.

Shrink your world | Wake Up Right
Burdens... we all have them. But are we carrying more burdens than are our own to carry? Have we taken on a heavier yoke than Jesus intends for us? Listen to Tim and Doug as they chatted about stress, burdens, and shrinking our world so we can focus on investing in things that matter, in the things that are right in front of us.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30, ESV
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30, The Message

Letting God Be Enough with Erica Wiggenhorn | Wake Up Right
Author and Bible study teacher Erica Wiggenhorn joins us on Wake Up Right once again to share about her latest book, Letting God Be Enough. Drawing from the story of Moses—the greatest self-doubter in the Bible—Erica shows how self-doubt is tied closely to self-reliance. It’s only when you cast yourself on God that you find the true source of strength. Are you enough? The answer is no. . . but your God certainly is. Step out in His power instead of your own and watch your confidence blossom because you’re in the hands of I AM. It was great to have Erica back on the show with us!
