In this episode Larry and James go over last weeks trades and new positions as well as go over trading vertical spread options strategy. A vertical spread involves buying and writing puts or calls at different strike prices. Each spread has two legs, where one leg is buying an option, and the other leg is writing (selling) an option.
This can result in the option position (containing two legs), giving the trader a credit or debit. A debit spread is when putting on the trade costs money. For example, one option costs $300, but the trader receives $100 from the other position. The net premium cost is a $200 debit.
If the situation were reversed, and the trader receives $300 for putting on an option trade, and the other option costs $100, the two option contracts combine for a net premium credit of $200.

Options Trading For Beginners (Ultimate Guide)
Options Trading for beginners. In this video I discuss a lot of the basics when it comes to trading stock options contracts. There are a lot of key terms to know when it comes to trading stock options and it can take a while to get comfortable with them to the point that you will be comfortable to trade options contracts. I cover all of the basic fundamentals of options trading in this video. What is a call option? What is a put option? What is extrinsic value? What is intrinsic value? When is an options contract in the money (ITM)? When is an options contract out of the money (OTM)? In this video I will go in depth and explain all of the important and key terms you need to know and understand to trade options successfully. I would also recommend watching this video in a full a few times if you are new to options trading. Also I would check out other educational videos on youtube from other trading channels until you get a firm grip on what options trading is and how options trading works. After you have a good grasp on the key components of options trading I would definitely recommend using paper money to trade options first so you can learn how to open trades, how to adjust trades, and also how to close options trades. Using paper money is a great way to test out a strategy before risking your hard earned cash on options trading. In this video we will cover the following sections: 2:20 What are options contracts? 4:28 What is a call option? 8:29 What is a put option? 12:30 What does out of the money mean (OTM)? 13:35 What does in the money mean (ITM)? 14:30 What is intrinsic value? 15:30 What is extrinsic value? 21:30 What is exercise when it comes to options trading? 28:20 What is assignment when it comes to options trading? 31:40 What is Delta when it comes to the options Greeks? 37:15 What is Gamma when it comes to the options Greeks? 39:12 What is Theta when it comes to the options Greeks? 41:50 What is Vega when it comes to the options Greeks? I hope after you watched this video that you have a better idea of all of the basic components of options trading. If you have any questions or comments please leave them in the comments section of this video.

WS Trades weekly podcast. New options trading strategy.

Options trading for beginners - What is a call and put and In the money vs out of the money
Options trading is the buying or selling of contracts that related to shares of stock. Each options contract controls 100 shares of the underlying security or stock. The option contract is comprised of a strike price, an expiration date, and the type of contract (call or put). In this video I cover some of the basics of options trading and how they relate to call and put options contracts.
An option contract is "in the money" when the price of the stock has breached the strike price of the contract. For an example a 130 call contract would be in the money if the price of the stock had risen above $130. For a 130 put contract to be in the money then the price of the underlying stock would need to be below $130. So if the stock was trading at $125, then a 130 call option would be out of the money. If the stock was trading at $135, then a 130 put option contract would be out of the money.

Larry's trade update for 3/1/21 and Robinhood options challenge
The stock market made huge gains today. #AAPL was up over 5%, #TSLA was up over 6%. We discussed how today would be a make or break day to decide what direction the market headed in the future on our latest podcast that can be found on all major podcast apps or at https://anchor.fm/wstrades/episodes/WS-Trades-weekend-podcast-er6uds. I guess the direction is to the MOON! In this video I show you some of the trades I'm in and got into Monday 3/1/21 but if you want to see my custom ThinkOrswim setup and how I pick my trades check out the livestream I did at https://youtu.be/36Sgo5UN_bw
Week 3 of the Robinhood small account challenge and things are picking up. I made a quick $10 profit off #LUMN call debit spread. Then I got into a put credit spread on #SNAP with the strikes of $62 and $61.50. #SNAP sold off pretty hard with the rest of the market ending the day down about 3% at $64.50. I feel pretty good at the $62 level so let's hope this sell-off doesn't continue and the market finds some stability. You can check out my other #robinhood videos under the robinhood playlist to stay up to date with my account progress.

Straddle and Strangle Option Strategy
What is a long strangle option strategy? A Long Strangle options strategy is when you buy an out of the money put option and an out of the money call option. You are expecting a big move in the price of the underlying stock. It doesn't matter which direction the stock price moves in as long as you get big enough of a price movement to profit on the trade from selling a contract back to the market or from exercising an in the money contract at expiration.

Options education. Bullish vertical spreads.
Two ways to play vertical spreads if you are bullish on a stock. Bull call spread (call debit spread) and bull put spread (put credit spread).

Options Trading Explained The covered call
The covered call options strategy is popular among stock market investors. A covered call is composed of selling or writing a call option against 100 shares of the underlying stock, which effectively reduces cost basis of holding the shares and creates protection if the price of the stock were to tick lower. If the stock price does not breach the call's strike price at expiration, the investor will make a 100% profit on the premium they collected when selling the call option. If the stock price ends up above the short call's strike price at the time of expiration, the investor will be have to sell their shares of stock at the call's strike price. As you can see this will cap potential profit if the share price rises. However this strategy protects the seller of the call option if the stock price were to decline. This strategy can be an alternative to just buying and holding dividend stocks. Hope you enjoy. Thanks!!
