EUC Book Club Ep. 1 - "A Garden for the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee"

EUC Book Club Ep. 1 - "A Garden for the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee"

Welcome to the EUC Podcast, from the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University.

Today’s episode will be the first in our EUC Book Club series, where we’ll be highlighting books and research put out by our renowned cast of faculty members. To celebrate World Bee Day, we’ll be featuring "A Garden for the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee," written by our very own Sheila Colla alongside co-author Lorraine Johnson, featuring illustrations by Ann Sanderson. This book serves as a useful and inspiring guide to the plants and pollinators native to Ontario and the Great Lakes Regions, helping people to make meaningful changes in protecting and promoting threatened species and habitats. I’ll be reflecting on the book with one of my fellow students, and later on I’ll be joined by Professor Colla herself, who will be sharing some of her thoughts on the text and the issues surrounding pollinators and native plants.

Special thanks to Professor Sheila Colla and student guest Sofia Colalillo
