33: Home Dad Chat- Brock Lusch
Life looks very different when you're a Stay at Home Dad or a S.A.H.D.. You can have feelings of a societal letdown, being left behind, and not living up to the expectations of being a man. We talk about life after a miscarriage for a dad, support groups for dads, dad groups, At Home Dad Con, and much more.
Brock grew up in Huntington, IN, and has lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, for the last 20+ years. Brock has been married for just over 16 years to your wife and two kids: a boy and a girl, one just finished 4th grade and one 1st grade; he is active in his church and Christian, and he organized and continues to run a dads group locally that has weekly and monthly hangouts, and is also a semi-avid cyclist as his schedule allows him to be.
What does it mean to be a dad to Brock? It means I have two mirrors walking around me, showing my insecurities and pushing me to be the best dad I can be, but they know I am not perfect, which makes life easier to be a parent.

Well-Balanced Dad Diet: It's How You View You
When you woke up this morning, you got out of bed, let the dog out, went to the bathroom, and then looked in the mirror. Did you recognize the person looking back at you? Are you happy with the person that's looking back at you? I want to know, are you not forgiving yourself? Do you feel like you've lost sight of yourself, you don't have passions, that you're not enough, and you might even feel like you're not doing your best or even a good job? Lastly, how full are you if you were a cup of water? The likely answer is that if you're a parent and specifically a dad, it might be pretty empty, and you might not have anything to pour in your partner, kids, co-workers, or those you interact with daily cups because you're so empty and need a refill.
We are so happy to promote the Well-Balanced Dad Diet; these are coming out during season 3 as BONUS content! You will want to jump on the WBDD train! You can check that out here on the site: https://www.ballboymedia.com/theballboyblog/categories/well-balanced-dad-diet

32: The Good Bad Dad- Toby Walsh
We could have talked about coaching the whole time, but we didn't, and we got into why you show up week after week after week. This week on the Young Dad Podcast, we welcome a friend of the show, Toby, aka The Good Bad Dad. Toby brings experience with kids from 17-7, adoption, biological children, sports, parenting in today's world, and much more. It was such a pleasure for him to embark his wisdom and knowledge on me and for all of you to hear and enjoy this week. I want to listen to this a couple of times.

Well-Balanced Dad Diet: Communication is Key
You and I talk all day, every day. We talk to friends, family, partners, and kids at work, school, or whatever we do; we constantly use language in some form. Tone, diction, word choice, and how we say something are just as important as what those words mean. With it being 2023, parts of the language aren't used anymore, a new language has been introduced, and there are literal fights over language daily. However, when we consciously choose to use the language that will have the most impact, we are no longer talking but communicating.

31: Divorcee Dish- Erin Jones
1/2 marriages in the United States end in divorce. Your host Jey is happily divorced. As odd as that may sound to some, it was what was best for himself, his ex-wife, and his two beautiful girls. Today's guest, Erin Jones, founder/CEO of In-Mode Marketing and founder of the 'Divorcee Dish,' joined us this week on the show.
Erin and Jey talk about all sorts of things regarding divorce, what it might look like, and deep dive into what life after divorce looks like, from being forgotten by friends to swinging endlessly, single parenting, and much more. If you're divorced, buckle up. This episode is in your wheelhouse; it's excellent!

Well-Balanced Dad Diet: Realistic Expectations
First, let me ask: where does your self-perception lay? Where are your expectations of your kids, where are your partner's expectations, where is your job's expectation, and where are your hobbies/interests? Where are the expectations of all other things you attach an expectation to? Are they too high, too low, or right where they need to be, or do they not need to be there?

Well-Balanced Dad Diet: Small Steps
Welcome back, we are into part two of the well-balanced dad diet, and today we will dive in and start filling our TOOL BAG with some small tools. You have to start somewhere, right? First and foremost, I want you and I to admit there is no magic pill or formula to being a dad, a parent, and an excellent partner to our significant other. We need to punch in a cheat code. There are no how-to guides on any of these things. If there was, wouldn't that be amazing?
We are so happy to promote the Well-Balanced Dad Diet; these are coming out during season 3 as BONUS content! You will want to jump on the WBDD train! You can check that out here on the site: https://www.ballboymedia.com/theballboyblog/categories/young-dad-blog

Well-Balanced Dad Diet: Tool Bag
My name is Jey, I'm the host of the Young Dad Podcast; and if you go back and listen to episode 21: Unstoppable Dad Diet, where we had Coach Matt Noonan on the Podcast, we started to laugh and joke about the well-balanced dad diet, however, after thinking on it for a couple of weeks, looking back at the conversations we have had with Single Dad Reboot Podcast, Brad from Baseball 2gether, Evan the Sturge Weber dad, Erik the Peanut Guy, Michael Soloway, Brig from Baseball 2gether, Jason from Safest Family of the Block Podcast I felt we had a place to start to construct the well-balanced dad diet. Now, I know what you're thinking. Is this going to be another one of those "ra ra, motivational pieces" I read everywhere that don't relate to me? The simple answer is no. The reason for that answer is that if you're a dad. You're setting out to read each of these pieces and listen to their accompanied podcast/video that goes with them, then obviously, you find a place that you can relate to, and you're curious, "what the heck is the well-balanced dad diet?" It's a 12-part (for now) series of changes, ideas, and challenges for you as a father to find some balance within the day-to-day craziness that is fatherhood. Read the full piece: https://www.ballboymedia.com/

29: HILF- Dawn Brodey
I don't have enough great things to say about this episode. We welcomed our first female podcaster, a friend of the show, Dawn Brodey. Dawn is an actress, comedian, and historian and runs the fantastic HILF Podcast.
Dawn was an absolute delight to talk to. She is funny, witty, smart, intelligent, and DOWN TO EARTH. Dawn is a wife and mother, but that doesn't stop her from chasing her dreams and taking her daughter along the ride.
Dawn and Jey talk about the struggles of staying as your person through the transition to being married and becoming a parent and how you add that into your life and don't lose sight of yourself. There were more compliments and flattery, and Jey even got a little gushy over the woman who had all his attention.
Friendly reminder that this is an independent podcast, and we put the Explicit on each show with strong language. We also strive to use our platform for good.
Next week, we will take a one-week break to recharge our batteries and prepare to deliver season 3 of the Podcast. We have such amazing guests coming, and we are so excited to have quality conversations with them. We will be back with you on May 10th!

Reminder, this is an independent podcast. The contents of this episode do include strong, authentic adult language. Please be advised.
Today we got to chat with Kyle, aka the man/myth/legend behind Superhuman Fathers. Kyle is a husband of 20 years and has five children, he and his wife both run a successful coaching business, and the transformation they help mothers and fathers achieve is incredible.
Today we talk about the origin of Superhuman Fathers and how you can become one yourself. We also discuss some of the most common struggles and issues we familiar, nonsuperhuman fathers face daily. Lastly, we discuss finding balance with your partner and kids and getting fantastic advice.

27: 6 Figure Dad- Brad Adair
This week, we welcome Brad. Brad goes by the 6 Figure Dad on IG, but in real life, Brad is one heck of a dude. Brad is first a husband and father to 3 under 5yo. He is also an author, coach, entrepreneur, and retired Green Beret with the US Army. We truly do thank him for his service and sacrifice for our country.
Brad says that if there is only Hawaiian pizza at a party, he will eat it cause you don't pass up pizza. With his odd taste in pizza, he also loves his farm, his three cows, and 12 chickens, among his other animals.
While Brad was in the military, he started his own business around fuel injectors, and at the beginning, it took a lot of time. We discussed his self-discipline and how he managed the time with his wife, and he shared some strategies to do it. Lastly, we ended with some wise words for you to listen to. You should stick around for this if you are also starting a new path.
You can find Brad on IG for free advice, coaching, and mentorship by going here: https://www.instagram.com/6figurestayathomedad/

Bring him on BACK! We bring back the OG interview with Brad Curnow, one of the co-hosts of Baseball 2gether Podcast. Brad is not only a great baseball mind and an extraordinarily creative mind, but he is also a father of two; one of his daughters is on the spectrum. Brad is a fantastic example of what it means to be a team with his partner, step up and love your child no matter what. Brad is a friend of the show off the mic, and with him, we are here on episode 26.

25: Modern Husband- Brian Page
Ball Boy Media Presents, another awesome episode of the Young Dad Podcast, we welcomed Brian Page from the Modern Husbands Podcast to the show. Today, little to our previous knowledge, we kicked off Financial Literacy Month with a man who was a personal finance/economics teacher for 15 years and was a personal consultant in the same industry.
Modern husband is precisely that, the modern spin on how you and I, as men, can redefine our value inside the home because it's not just connected to our jobs as the fantastic women in our lives are, in some cases bringing home the bacon.
We talked in depth about managing the relationship's finances, including pitching some new ideas for all to consider, how to have a practical insight into managing the money and home, healing from financial trauma, and finding ways to teach your kids financial literacy, and so much more.
You can find more of Brian @modernhusband on IG OR at the website: https://www.modernhusbands.com/; you can also find the Modern Husband Podcast here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2000968 and lastly, you can join me in signing up for the bi-monthly newsletter right here https://www.modernhusbands.com/newsletter.

Too easy, as our guest Daniel Simone, host of The Build Podcast, says as he joined our host Jey as they talked about everything from struggling with mental health, parenting, being a good partner, and much more. You can find Daniel on his Instagram @danielsimonefit
Daniel took us through his journey of depression that led him to have to choose what path he wanted to align himself with. He chose the path of healing, improving, and being someone he is proud to look at daily. From there, Daniel took the chance to share his story and knowledge and give that back to dads like you and me through coaching, fitness, and nutrition to help them get to the high version of themselves.
Daniel and Jey talk about doing your "P's," supporting your partner's dreams, speaking your partner's love language, not beating yourself up, and executing your blueprint daily.
We hope you enjoy the show as much as we did doing it.

20: Everyday Kid Issues
Welcome one, welcome all, welcome to the Young Dad Podcast; we have a fantastic show for you today. The brothers today jump into some of the everyday issues that our kids and yours face.
Our kids are under tremendous pressure in school and every day of their lives. Our kids face stress in passing classes and confronting bullies. Being homesick, comparison, peer pressure, making friends, failure, bad teachers, competition, and so much more. What's crazy is that most of the brother's kids they talk about are in Kindergarten and 1st grade and face these stressful issues daily.
There is so much we can do to help our kids, but most of all, be present and show up when they need you. Teach them to be grateful, kind, compassionate, and empathetic humans who are for their peers on a human level. Support your kids all you can, and however, you can, with pure love and the best intentions.

17: You are Enough- Brig Berthold
Yes, yes, you are enough. I promise. This week, we, unfortunately, weren't joined by A-A-Ron. However, that did not stop Jey from bringing on Little Brigy Blue Eyes, aka Brig from Baseball 2gether and creator of 9+us.
Brig and Jey opened the show with a spirited two-way debate about Gorillas, body parts for money, and living forever. You will want to take advantage of this intro.
Lastly, Jey and Brig hung out and talked before, as these two couldn't stop, and who could blame this? This conversation they had was seriously awesome.
Brig took us through his journey of growing up with privilege (which he checked, as we all should), military, injury, pregnancy, his wife's cancer, and eventual passing that left him a widower, his addiction, and his recovery and how that has all impacted him and made him into the amazing person that he is.
Again, you will want to see and hear all of this. Stay tuned till the end, as every piece of advice and wisdom was beautiful.

16: NASA Man- Michael Soloway
SURPRISE!
We told you on Wednesday that you would get a bonus this week for an episode. After a few minor delays, we finally made time for Michael Soloway, a man who never stops dreaming of the Podcast.
Michael has a heck of a journey to share with us and is a wealth of knowledge. Michael grew up knowing two things; he wanted to be an astronaut and have a daughter. Now, things sometimes go differently than planned, as Michael did work for NASA. However, he wasn't an astronaut. He then did have a daughter a little later in life at age 40.
Michael offers some fantastic advice for young dads, girls' dads, older dads, and dads in general that he has learned along his journey. We hope you enjoyed the time we had with Michael.

15: Love Yourself
Hey there to all our unique listeners; today, we have an excellent short episode to kick off the shortest month of the year. Both the brothers were fighting through fevers, chills, and runny noses to make this happen for you today. Am I right? Have you got to love this time of the year?
To kick off how the brothers answer three quick questions from Twitter/IG. Find the link in the linktree below to follow and ask.
They then dive deep into self-love as it's almost Valentine's day, and you must love yourself every day for the rest of your life. You can do it.
The two talk about having a clear picture of self and forgiveness toward self and others, and Jey tells us about the four elements of Forgiveness therapy.
The two wrap up with some kind words, RIP Kobe, and tease out something extraordinary for later this week.

14: Balance and The Struggle
All right, I promise you to want to catch this episode. So much advice, inspiration, laughs, and embarrassment. Let me break it down for you.
Greetings, it's Wednesday, which is time for a new episode. The brothers today started with an overrated/underrated talking about:
Having siblings. Bucket hats (cool dad hat). Recording concerts/live events with your phone camera and going to brunch.Honestly, you'll love the first segment.
Next, the bros got into an exciting discussion on balance. As you know, the Young Dad Pod preaches balance in every aspect of life. They got into finding balance with Work, Relationships, Kids, and Self. Wow, that was inspiring.
Now we get into something for the parents out there, the STRUGGLES! We have all of them, but the brothers talked about 4 of the most common ones that Jey could find among us.
Saying "No" The Endless Concern Letting your kids fail Am I doing a good enough job?Jey ended this show portion with a great quote from soon-to-be guest Brig from Baseball 2gether.
Lastly, a new segment! You will have to listen to fully experience how funny Drunk Spelling Bee indeed was.

13: Erik the Peanut Guy- Erik Mertens
Welcome to another great episode of the Young Dad Podcast; we are happy to be with you again. Today, we welcome Erik Mertens, better known as Carina's husband or Ed and Mary Jo Mertens's son OR, as I know him, MiLB royalty Erik the Peanut Guy.
Erik is a wholesome person, literally the definition of wholesome. A man of the community, honest and has one of the purest best vibes of anyone you will EVER meet. We were so happy and blessed he could join us.
Erik and the brothers did a tremendous 3-way debate to open the show from seasons to space and sea to the time of day of a baseball game. We also find out that both Erik and Aaron are megalohydrothalassophobics (fear of large underwater creatures or objects)
Sidebar: the score of the pineapple on Pizza is now 4-2-1, with Erik's wife siding with Jey and Erik being a neutral tie.
Erik then takes the floor and talks about the significant impact his dad had on him as a person, a husband, and just a man of the community. We learn more about Ed's Fund and so much more. Erik and the brothers also offer some new husband advice.
Lastly, the three did a ballpark food draft that ended as follows.
Erik: Hotdog, Souvenir Soda w/ Coke, Kettle Corn, Mini-Helmet Ice Cream
Jey: Garlic Fries(Tmobile Park), Popcorn, Nachos, Sno Cones
Aaron: Chicken Fingers(Dodger Stadium), Peanuts, Gelato, Burger Sliders

12: New Years in a Nutshell
Happy New Year, and welcome into the show today and welcome in 2023. We are so excited for such a great year ahead filled with many guests, excellent content, laughs, and tears to be shed.
The brothers are back to kick off the New Year with you. They start talking about what they are leaving behind in 2022 and NOT bringing it into 2023. Leave last year in last year, am I right?
Next, the guys get into tips and tricks to help you meet your fitness, health, and body goals. Then how to help you improve your relationship with kids, spouse, friends, and family. They gave even more advice on helping you improve your financial situation and, lastly, your mental and emotional health. Remember, it ain't weak to speak.
Last, the brothers give you some high quality would you rather, some shameless answers, and a new motto for 2023. #Shameless2023

Let's Talk: New Year and New Dad Advice
Welcome to the Young Dad Podcast; we hope you are doing well today. We have a short Let's Talk with Jey today. Let's Talk is the "mini" version of the Young Dad Podcast, where we explore topics in a little more depth with Jey.
Today on the show, Jey dives into some New Year This or That, and some of the answers may surprise you about him. While others will say, "yep, that sounds about right for Jey. I'm the same way."
Next, every year we learn a lot about ourselves personally, as a partner, as a parent, and just about life in general. They do say, "another year older, another year wiser." Jey drops some of the things he learned about himself as a partner and what he learned about life in 2022.
Lastly, Jey drops some New Dad advice, which, honestly, the first-hand perspective is something better than what isn't written in any book since there are no books for new dads. Jey's most significant advice is to be present, be active, and be patient with yourself. You got this!
We will be back in 2023 with new guests, new perspectives, and the same love and excitement to be with you every week. Have a happy and safe New Year.

11: Sturge Weber Awareness from Down Unda'- Evan Corbett
Greetings from 'Down Unda' on this show's episode, the brothers welcome Evan, whose princess has the rare and uncommon Sturge Weber Syndrome. Evan joins the show from Australia and takes us along his journey as a dad with a daughter with a disability. Please note: this episode does have adult language, not used for harm and may not be for everyone.
Before these three blokes get too far into the discussion on Sturge Weber, they do a themed 3-way debate about spiders, tarantulas, Pizza, and soccer or rugby. It's worth noting, Jey forgets to ask Evan if he likes Pineapple on Pizza; he indeed does. That makes the score 3-2, and A-A-Ron is no longer alone.
Evan then takes us on the journey through life with his princess from the beginning, the ups and downs, the good and evil, and what it has been like for him and his partner.
Lastly, the three yanks wrap up by drafting their favorite "American" sayings. If you laugh harder than Jey, leave a comment, please.
What did you learn today? Please let us know in the comments who won the draft and what you learned today.
Don't forget their invite to you on last week's episode: spread love, cheer, and help someone in need this season. Put one can of food in the bin at the store, grab a $5 toy and donate it, pick a name off the giving tree and give, or whatever you can do to do it.

10: Communication Tips and Tricks, "Young" Parents,
We made it to Episode 10! This episode is a massive milestone for us as of an April 2021 study. "According to Amplifi and Podnews, 44% of the podcasts have less than three episodes! Only 720k podcasts have more than ten episodes. While the remaining 720K, 90% will quit after 20." We aren't quitting, and we love being here with you! Thanks for choosing to listen to us!
Today on the Pod, the brothers do some fun Holiday, would you rather, and Jey squeezes in a few "holi-dad" jokes throughout the episode. Don't worry; you don't have to laugh. The live studio audience that isn't paid does laugh for some reason.
Next, the brothers get how hard it can be to communicate with your partner, kids, friends and family, and extended family this year; listen as they give some tips and tricks on the subject.
The episode got even better as they talked about the wild and crazy ride of being the "young" parents of the group has been for them. Jey was 22 when he had his first kid, and Aaron was 19, almost 20. Spoiler: neither of them would change a thing.
Lastly, they end with light-hearted situations, from talking to a mannequin to telling someone they're a problem. Make sure you comment and tell us what you would do in each situation.
Don't forget their invite to you: spread some love, cheer, and help someone in need this season. Put one can of food in the bin at the store, grab a $5 toy and donate it, pick a name off the giving tree and give, or whatever you can do to do it.

These range from the many hats you wear to failure and feeling like you're not doing well.

Welcome to today's Let's Talk mini-spin-off of the Young Dad Pod; I'm your host Jey as always. We have a short, fun episode for you today. I got five fantastic Would You Rather questions from my five-year-old. A couple of these will make you think they did for me.
Next, Jey gives the parents some advice about making the Holidays more remarkable for their kiddos. He then gives all the people with families some heartfelt advice; the moral of the story is don't judge others; you don't know what someone else is going through, be kind and be present. 9: Season of Giving
Back again! Thanks for listening today; we so appreciate it. We hope you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving, and thanks for listening to this as you cook. Trust me, trust me, don't be afraid to add a little more butter to that turkey.
This week we had a blast talking about Thanksgiving Traditions. Jey had to dig DEEP for the cause. Five concussions will do that to you. We then started talking about giving cause Tis the season. The discussion on giving was more than about money; it was about time, love, forgiveness, patience, and much more.
For the parents and caregivers, we talked about teaching giving cause we want our kids to be good people, and giving is part of the equation. Kids have such huge hearts; teach them to share that pure, kind, authentic love throughout their lives.
Lastly, were you able to guess that character? If you did! Excellent, if not, don't worry; you will get answers!

8: Child on the Spectrum- Brad Curnow
Welcome to the Young Dad Pod; we welcome Black Jack Brad onto the show today. Brad is the Co-host of Baseball Together and Seattle Baseball Together. Baseball is a passion of Brad's, and so is being a dad and a great friend of the show.
Today we debate between Peanut Butter and Nutella, Barefoot Always, Instagram Famous, or Tik Tok Famous, and the answers will surprise you. Lastly, find out if Brad is on team pineapple on Pizza.
Next, we discuss what it's been like for Brad to have a child on the spectrum and how that's changed him as a dad. What has that been like for their relationship with his wife, son, and himself? It's an enlightening, educational, and bomb.com discussion, and honestly, it changed my perspective on how I interact daily with my kids. Let's say you embrace being a dad and go all in; it's your new norm.
Lastly, we end with a particular draft for Stella, the show's star today. We do a Fisher Price branded Toy Draft, and let's say I think that Brad might have done some cooperation to win.

Then some technical difficulties arise during a conversation on self. Self-accountability, self-responsibility, ownership of your heart, mind, and feelings, and realizing YOU are your problem.
We then get some life advice from the brothers on what they would go back and tell themselves in dark moments and some of the most exciting moments of their lives to date. We also learn more about Jey and some of his struggles with intrusive thoughts.

Let's Talk- Why
I want to ask you a very simple question- why? I want to talk about the concept of why. I want you help you fill the blanks, or at least give an idea of how can do it yourself. I want you to be okay asking the question "why", to yourself. Question yourself, find your why, it'll be worth it.
