These three, along with intentionality, will help all of us who are on the journey toward caring for ourselves in a meaningful and sustainable way. 38. Don't Settle for a Half-Life: How to Live The Life You Deserve
Don't Settle for a Half-Life: How to Live the Life You Deserve. If we're honest, all of us have settled in some area of our lives at some point in our lives. This episode is about that. If you find yourself settling for less than you deserve today or know that you have in the past, then you'll want to listen. In the episode, I share how settling shows up in our lives, the reasons people settle, and actions to take if you or someone you love is settling in life. Weeks ago the word, "settle" dropped in my spirit and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. Then, when I was writing this week's blog on The Art of Living a Simple and Balanced Life, I came across Kahlil Gibran's poem, Half-Life. It is beautiful and brilliant, and it set the table for what I wanted to talk about in this podcast. In his poem, he says, "Half a life is a life you didn't live...you are not half a being, You are a whole that exists to live a life not half a life."
I hope you enjoy this episode. More importantly, I want you to search your heart and ask yourself if you are settling in an area of your life. If you are, discover why and then apply some of the actions I give. When we live half-lives, when we settle, we are not living our best lives - certainly not our Aha! Lives. I want you to live Your Aha! Life and I want that for me as well. We deserve to live the lives we dream about.
I wish you more joy, more purpose, and more fulfillment. Please join me in continuing the conversation by going to my IG: tonya@yourahalife or join my private Facebook group, The Aha! Community. Whatever platform you listen to/view this podcast, please leave a comment, a review, thumbs up, or claps, and hit the subscribe button. I really appreciate your support.
xoxo,
Tonya

36. Empowered: Embracing Your Imperfections to Live a Richer, Fuller, More Empowered Life (with Chauncy Renay)
Listen in as I chat with Chauncy Renay of Living Louder Podcast about what it means to embrace your imperfections and live and richer, fuller, and more empowered life. Chauncy is an associate marriage and family therapist, speaker, and podcast host. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Social/Cultural Anthropology and her master's degree from California State University at Los Angeles. Her podcast, Living Louder, is a weekly reminder that feeling fearful is never an excuse to give up.
In today's episode, Chauncy shares her own story about how she took high achievement to the brink in an effort to satisfy what she perceived to be societal expectations, an unhealthy definition of success, and self-doubt and fear. She was able to turn that around by discovering who she was at her core and make different choices to live according to her own definition of success. Chauncy leaves us with three "gems" to Live Louder - richer, fuller, and more empowered.
You can find Chauncy on Instagram at Living Louder Podcast (@livinglouderpodcast). I love Chauncy's podcast and I highly encourage you to check it out and start following her on IG. She posts a new podcast every Thursday.

Today's Podcast: How to Love Yourself Using the Maxx METHOD with Christy Maxey
After 20 years as a therapist in private practice, Christy Maxey noticed a pattern: We don't know how to love ourselves or manage our emotions - with mindfulness, acceptance, and kindness. Wanting to reach a larger audience, Christy decided to become a personal development coach to help more people learn how to love themselves, transform negative behavior patterns, past trauma, negative core beliefs, and relationship problems into real confidence, self-worth, and relationships and careers that thrive. Today, Christy is also a speaker and creator of the Maxx METHOD, a framework for personal development and self-mastery. She is the author of The Maxx Method: How to Love Yourself and Become Who You Are Meant to Be. 34. How to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others: Know Your Self-Worth
As social beings, we all compare ourselves to others. However, how can we stop comparing ourselves to others in a way that is destructive. It all comes down to knowing your intrinsic self-worth and building positive self-esteem. In today's episode, I come to this topic as a seeker or explorer myself. I decided to tackle this topic because I've had several requests from readers of my blog and others. It's a common issue that can hold people back from being their best selves and living the life of their dreams. So, I'm diving in.
In How to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others: Know Your Self-Worth, I draw upon some prior research and I share some key themes from the book, 10 Simple Solutions for Building Self-Esteem: How to End Self-Doubt, Gain Confidence, and Create a Positive Self-Image (Glenn R. Schiraldi, 2007). There are so many gold nuggets in this book. The point that resonated most with me is the importance of Unconditional Worth - a building block to healthy self-esteem. Knowing that you have an intrinsic worth that is equal, immeasurable, and unchanging is a game-changer when comparing yourself to another. Listen in as I share why you compare yourself to others, the good that comes from it, and how you can make reasonable comparisons without going down a downward spiral and damaging your sense of self.
When you've finished listening, head over to my private Facebook group, The Aha! Community (join, if you're not a member) or go to IG @tonya.yourahalife.com and we'll continue the conversation. As always, thank you for listening. Please download, leave a review, thumbs up, 5-star rating, and also important, please share with your networks across social media. Thank you! xo, Tonya

How to Grow Through Life's Changes and Transitions
The only thing constant in life is change. And change can be hard. So many people remain stuck in the past and never realize their potential. In this episode, I share practical tips on how you can grow through some of life's most difficult moments.

My desire for you is that as you navigate change and transition, you are able to get to the new beginning stronger, more confident, and ready to create the life you want and dream of having.

My Conversation with Dr. Benjamin Hardy on His Book: Personality Isn't Permanent
Listen in as organizational psychologist and bestselling author, Dr. Benjamin Hardy, shares a little about his life and the release of his new book, Personality Isn't Permanent. The book, released on June 16, has already reached bestseller status. In it, Dr. Hardy debunks some of the long-held beliefs about personality assessments as he aims to help people become the scribes of their own identity and narrative. According to Dr. Hardy, personality assessments can stand in the way of you becoming your full and evolving self by imposing self-limiting beliefs. The book is about so much more than personality assessments. As you listen and certainly by purchasing his new book, you will find inspiration knowing that you can overcome your past - your past is fiction or just perspective - and does not determine your future. You can rewrite your story.
Find out more about Dr. Benjamin Hardy by going to his site: www.benjaminhardy.com and you can find his book, Personality Isn't Permanent at your favorite booksellers: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, Audible, and Apple.

He also shared quotes from Viktor Frankl's bestselling book, Man's Search for Meaning, available on Amazon and your favorite booksellers.

Here are some quotes I captured from my conversation with Giovanni:
"You don't actually fear failure, you fear how you will feel if you fail."
"It's not so much about the success or the failure, it's about the path."
"The pain of failure goes very quickly, but the pain of regret for all those dreams that you didn't pursue, that eats your soul very slowly for the rest of your life."
"Yes, when you dare to desire something, when you dare to have a goal, yes, you're setting yourself up for disappointment, and yes you're creating expectations where you'll likely be frustrated, but you're up for a great journey and you're up for a lot of growth."
"Let fear be the background noise of your success."
"Instead of looking at the cost of taking action, look at the cost of not taking action"

10 Incredibly Practical But Life Changing Aha! Moments
It's great to be back with you solo. In this episode, I'm sharing some of my top aha's from my life experiences. Listen as I count down the aha's and share my life experiences that prompted those insights.
Oprah, the queen of aha moments said, "You can't have an aha unless you already knew it. So, the aha is a remembering of what you already knew, articulated in a way to resonate with your own truth." How profound! I totally agree with her. We already know this stuff. I say aha's are our inner knowing made visible. It's wisdom locked within us. We just need a moment, an experience, to unlock it and then we will say, "Aha! Now, I get it."
What are your life's aha moments and the insights you've gained from them? Write them down. Let them remain in your consciousness. They are there to guide you and enlighten you in living Your Aha! Life.

How to Transform Obstacles and Achieve Your Dreams
"Believe in the beauty of your dreams." I often recite this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt when I speak about my life's passion. But what does this quote really mean? It takes reading the quote in its entirety to experience the full power of the former First Lady's message. She said:
"Believe in yourself. You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face...You must do that which you think you cannot do...The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." (Eleanor Roosevelt)
In addition to Roosevelt's quote, I also share a favorite passage by Ralph Marston on self-discipline and three kinds of discipline (Perception, Action, and Will) from Ryan Holiday's book, The Obstacle is the Way. Ryan's book is one of my favorite books and is framed from the maxim by Roman Emperor and stoic philosopher, Marcus Aurelius. Aurelius penned: The impediment to action advances the action. What stands in the way becomes the way.

Simplify: Making Room for What Matters Most
It's a journey and it's one that I'm on. I'm probably somewhere between Marie Kondo's KonMari method and a minimalist lifestyle. I just want to live as simply as I can. I believe to live simply can improve the quality of our lives. It can create more space, more time, more peace, more joy, and more room for the things that matter the most to you.

Practicing Acceptance: Learn to Embrace "What is" Without Resistance
Practicing Acceptance is essential if you want to experience a life free from suffering. In this episode, I share what it means to practice acceptance, why it's important, and 5 ways you can learn to practice acceptance in your life. The Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr is quoted often. It is a beautiful prayer that is applicable to practicing acceptance. I used The Serenity Prayer as inspiration for this episode. When we practice acceptance, we embrace what is without resistance and empower real change in our lives.

How Our Imperfections Make Us Better People
It's interesting how the things that we go to great lengths to cover up and hide from others are the very same things that draw others to us. Our imperfections make us better people, and not only that, when we accept our imperfections and embrace who we are, we are more relatable and we have a greater chance of impacting the lives of others in a positive way - and that makes it all worthwhile.
Our imperfections allow us to say, "Not perfect, but not bad." Listen to this episode and learn to embrace your imperfections because it's not enough to know yourself, it's also important to love yourself. Growth is getting to the point when you can say, I accept myself as I am and I accept others as they are.
Thank you for continuing to listen to Your Aha! Life. Come back again to listen to the next episode and let me know what topics are of interest to you.

Discover Your Highest Aspiration
In life, we have many aspirations, but likely one of those rises to the top and provides you the greatest sense of joy, purpose, and fulfillment. That is your Highest Aspiration. Listen to this episode and discover the desire that burns within you. It may mean going back to your five-year-old self.
"I believe those of you who are on the journey to live an Aha! Life know intuitively that though your life aspirations and coordinating accomplishments may bring happiness and a sense of pride, your Highest Aspiration is not happiness, it's meaning, and you find meaning through serving others," ~Tonya Harris Cornileus
Reflection Questions:
What is that desire that burns within you to be in service to others? When you are in service to others, what are you doing? What do you find yourself paying attention to? What touches your heart in a way that makes you want to lean in and devote your time and talents to making things better?
